Google Contacts stuck on synching - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Hey guys.
I got decent knowledge about Android.
I got some knowledge about rooting, flashing, and troubleshooting. But I have a problem.
And ofcourse I did Google it before creating a thread here
So I was using my phone but what I noticed is out of nowere my contacts were gone.
My contacts are stored in Google.
I did go to settings > Accounts > (the acc) > and it is bussy with syncing contacts. (Feels like it is stuck on synching)
Drive, gmail, etc all off them did synch except for Google Contacts.
When I open the Google Contacts in my webrowser all off the contacts are there.
But inside Google Contacts App, it doesn't synch.
Things I tryed :
1. Removed all off my google accounts from my phone settings. cleared cache in TWRP. rebooted added back again.
2. Auto-Synch is on.
3. Tryed few times "synch now" (manual synch)
4. Rebooted few times.
5 Cleared app data from Google Contacts and Play services.
Any sugestions?
I did upload a screenshot here below. So you can see how it looks like.
And sorry for my bad english.

On your PC/MAC go to Gmail/Contacts and refresh your browser. Sign out.
On your 1+6 sign out and sign back in, that should do the trick.

Have you "force stop" the contacts app?

Thank you for your time.
But this didn't work to. Forget to mention that I did this to. I also deleted my Google+ profile. I did read somewhere that it might help, but no.
So annoying this problem.

[Q] Where the hell are my contacts saved to?!

ATT sync is OFF.
Google Sync is ON.
I sign into Google, go to Google Contacts... nothing.
I flash a new rom, I sign into my account on my phone - all my contacts are there. With their painstakingly-manually assigned photos.
Are my contacts being saved in some dark sector of my phone? Are they hidden on some Google Sever? Where can I find them?!

I type "Google Contacts" into Google, and click on the first link. Where should I be looking?
go to Gmail, and on left check Contacts...
Maybe your error is that you search for something not being logged in into gmail, or another account?
If you are using any 2.1 rom then any contact appears on your phone when you sign into google... not Just 'my contacts' or any other group, so check the all contacts tab or whatever it's called. Every contact in your gmail account will appear, even your Craigslist adult services email addresses that you love to send to (the local police know about you). I would venture to say that 99% this is a Google issue and not a phone issue as there is no way your phone pulls these out of the blue. Also if its that much of a problem, hit the menu button in the contacts list and then go to display or settings (can't remember what) and unselect Google contacts.

Well my phone's OS is totally busted, so I guess we'll find out the hard way
Use titanium backup and backup something called "contacts storage" (not the contacts app) and take a backup of it. This is the place where phone contacts are copied to, no matter where else they might be backed up the system. This has been a life saver for me many times, even today.

Looks like I'll have to get Titanium Backup when I get my rom flashed, as Google didn't save my contacts anywhere. Time to redownload all my pictures... *sigh*

Yes I did. They weren't saved on there before, and now that my phone had some issue and I reflashed it back to stock and logged back into my account, there are no contacts either.

When you add a new contact does it ask you where you want to save the contact to? choices would be phone, SIM or google.

I copied all my contacts over from SIM. I figured it would then put then onto my Google Contacts, but I guess I was wrong. It's not a big deal.

It's too late for anyone to help anyway. It's not a problem. It could have been a Perception issue?
turn google sync on
yes, that one, the one under sync thingy setting somewhere on your phone, that you have turned off I bet. Let it sync like a crazy wild ass Then check in Gmail contacts on the left and voila. Wizard Magic of the totally not evil google.
Basically, never turn the google sync off, or your'e f-d on contacts and it seems a few other things too.

I had Google Sync on since day one and it never did anything. I even turned it on and off to force the issue.
I have my new flash, and all my contact photos deleted. I have reupped a few of them, and nothing in my Google Contacts yet either. Do I need to "star" them in Android?
Going forward, when you create a new contact and it asks where you want it saved, choose Google. This will automatically save the contact to your Gmail account. When you flash your again and sign in after flashing, your contacts will be there

I like my accounts saved to my SIM card in case anything happens. I would also like them saved to Google as a redundant backup. Why is this not possible?

How to logout android market?

Hi,
Anyone know how to logout android market for android froyo 2.2, without doing a hard reset?
I'm using Samsung Galaxy S.
Thank you.

I've tried that.
But there is a message prompting that the account can only be remove by resetting the phone factory.
help anyone? thanks..
Try google account dashboard. Info stored on your google account. I recall seeing android devices in there once.
You can clear data from apps management in the market app. That restores it to default but doesn't necessarily log you out.
Try the desktop market... you can log in and out there.... but there's no real hard logout unless you reset.
open market, open menu and logout
what a JOKE!! huh
f you are using your network data with a android phone you cant log out, you dont have nothing like LOGOUT unless you make a factory reset , and never try to log into market again, attention because by doing factory reset you loose all your apps, make a back up before doing that, there is a free app call backup everything
Im guessing this hasnt change in plays maket?
To solve your Problem you have to be tricky!
Go to gmail .com,
and submit a new email...no matter if you will use it in future or not...
After you have submit a new email account on google,
go to your phone to accounts.
Add the new email google acc!
THen you have two!
Next time you start your market, it will ask you which account it should prefer..
Regards.

(Q) : google contacts synch

Hello, I have approx. 500 contacts stored in Google contacts. I can synch them seamlessly with my Android phone (2. 3.4). But they do not synch with my transformer (REVOLVER RC2). Any ideas? Probably I should reset the Google account on my tablet - but I don't know how.
Many thanks in advance
Go into Settings, Account and sync and make sure the sync Contacts option is checked
^^ If it doesn't sync try a reboot, if still no then click the account in accounts+sync and 'remove' it, then re-link making sure to check sync contacts.
hi guys thanks, but thats what I already did/checked before I asked my question. I thought it could be related to the contact itself, so it's not recognized during synch process. And the same contact synchs well with my android phone. weird

What about going into the "Peoples" app (use to be Contacts).
In "Contacts to display" option and play around with the settings.
Not sure how to fix the issue, but I noticed that my phone syncs all my contacts (ICS) while my TF only shows starred/favorite contacts.

Thanks again and have a great day

[Q] Facebook contact sync issue

I'm running a stock, non-rooted GS3. My contact icons are weeks out of sync with profile pictures and I can't get new contacts that are saved to display the picture. I went to Settings > Accounts and Sync > Facebook, and forced a sync a few times in the past 24 hours but it won't update anyone. How can I correct/update this? Thank you!
Go into your contacts on the phone and open the contacts you want to sync with your Facebook and make sure that they are linked via Facebook... If it is google only seems that for some reason it doesn't always update the photo....

Both Google and Facebook are set. Those settings are correct, I just can't figure out why the profile/contact pictures are weeks out of sync with some new contacts not even syncing at all.

Thats the glory of the Facebook app for Android.... It functions when it wants too..... Hopefully they are actually working on it.... There are other apps on the market for FB that allow better syncing with FB
Not a true "fix", but corrected it by clearing the cache from the app + all data from Settings > Applications, deleted it from Play then re-installed it. Again, not a fix, but resolves the issue in about 5 minutes.

[Q] Contacts to Display

When I choose which contacts to display the phone doesn't seem to save them. I just want the phone to display my contacts from my Google account. I choose my Google account and press OK. Then when I go back to the contacts screen my Google contacts are showing. When I leave the contacts page and go back in, it displays all my contacts from all the accounts I have on the phone. I then have to repeat the process again.
If I choose Contacts to display > Customize > the choose my Google account, the contacts appear, but once I leave the contacts page and return all the contacts from all my accounts are showing. The accounts I have are WhatsApp, Corporate and Google.
I am using the Go Launcher and I am rooted. Can anyone help?
Can anyone help with this?
I am trying to display only the contacts with phone numbers. When I customise the contacts to display it works, but once i close the contacts and open it again it displays all the conatcts from all accounts.

Thanks for your reply. In Settings > Accounts I have the following accounts:
Corporate, Dropbox, Facebook, Google, Sync.ME and WhatsApp.
What should I be looking for here?

I have disabled the contact sync on the Whatsapp account and on the Corporate account, but the problem still occurs.
I have gone into the contacts app > accounts and turned off auto-sync app data, but that does not work either.
No matter what accounts I choose to display, it always defaults back to All contacts.

Deleting Whatsapp and Corporate contacts from Contacts app should solve it.
(actually this is the procedure to remove Facebook contacts)

Sorry for being stupid, but how do I remove these accounts from the Contacts app? When I try to remove the account from the settings menu I got the following message: "Removing this account will delete all of its messages, contacts and other data from the phone".
I don't want to remove the contacts from my phone. I just want them to not display on the contacts app. You could do this easily on the Galaxy S2.
Thanks for your help.

I've installed Whatsapp (I don't use it) and Contacts are linked to Contacts app so you can't delete them.
Maybe the app resets the custom display when you close it

That is what seems to be happening. The contact app seems to resetting my custom display whenever I close it. Then it will show the contacts from all of my accounts on the phone.

I now have Whatsapp so I was able to make some tests and on my end the Contact app keeps my choice and only displays my Whatsapp contacts in the list, even after leaving the app.
Try to clear all data of your data.
I have deleted the data from the Contacts app and the Contacts storage app in the Settings of the phone. The phone now displays contacts from my Google account and Whatsapp account, but it still resets to show All contacts when the app is closed even when I choose which account to display.
What I have now is better than what I previously had as it does not display the contacts from my corporate account, so I am grateful for that.
I tried a factory reset to fix this, but it still didn't work correctly. I also noticed that all of my contacts were joined to other contacts. I've had to go into each contact manually and separate them and then join them back to the correct contact. A major hassle. I've never had this problem before.
I know this is an old thread, but I found the same problem today and I think it could be useful for people facing this issue.
The problem is the Go Launcher contacts icon on the dock. If you replace it with the contacts app it will remember your contacts to display preference.
It seems to be some difference between Go Launcher's phone and contacts and the system phone and contacts apps.
