Notifications and BlueMail - Android Apps and Games

I'm new to Nova and liking it so far but I can't get numerical unread numbers to appear on my BlueMail icon.
The counters appear - and work - for messages and WhatsApp but not for BlueMail.
BlueMail is enabled in the TeslaUnread settings and the App Icon counter is setup correctly in BlueMail Global Settings.
Same problem on both a Moto G6 and a Oneplus 3
Anyone know what I'm missing??
Thanks

I think you need to look in the settings, and find the "permission notifications" item. I had a similar case on another launcher, I did not see the call of the subscriber, I had to look for it through a third service https://ukareacodes.org/ , but it was a long time ago, and I was a layman) It turned out all was much easier

Excellent pointer - thanks.
The launcher needed app permission to get email details.
Now working

Any app to show sms on locked homescreen?

Looking for an app to show sms messages on locked homescreen. Any recommendations?
Flyscreen?
If you're referring to an app which shows a new sms popup on a locked screen, Handcent SMS and ChompSMS both do that. Handcent has the option to not show the sms contents, not sure about Chomp though.

How so? I can't seem to figure it out.
If you're using Chomp, there are some options under Settings > Quick Compose & Reply. Not sure if you have to set the popup notification to be on under Settings > Notifications. Note that I haven't actually tried this yet as I'd rather not have notifications on my lock screen.
I know it works for Handcent though, as I used to have it enabled. Should be under the notifications settings somewhere, can't quite remember as I haven't used Handcent for quite a while.

Doesn't show it on the lock screen, but disables my lock screen when I have a new message.

Are you using Handcent or Chomp? I know Handcent worked as of ~1 month ago without disabling the lock screen (referring to the lock screen which require a pattern unlock, not sure what happens if you don't have that enabled).

[Q] Where is Calendar setting to stop it creating an email alarm by default?

I never want to receive an email notification for a calendar event. I hate getting 2 notifications for the same thing (I always set a popup). I am assuming that this is a default Android action as it happens on both my Tab and my Blade.
Anyone know how to turn off this default setting? Or change it to popup? I've looked everywhere I can think of.
TIA

I think you need to go to web Google Calendar and set the default 'Notifications' options in the settings of the calendar in question. There are options to set it to pop-up and/or e-mail and/or sms. You can also control how updates in events are handled.

Trust me to be looking in the wrong place!
What was weird was I needed to turn all the invitation notifications off even if though I've never set an invitation up when creating an event.
But I'm sorted and happy - thank you

[APP][>= ICS] GMail Unreads Notifier

Hi,
I present a new application, compatible with Gmail for Android (versions for Ice Cream Sandwitch and higher).
I will implements recurrent notifications for unread messages (in inbox or prioritary inbox).
Due the limitations of the Gmail API, that exports the total unread messages count, nor the messages, the notifier can't detect new messages in certain scenarios.
By example:
The notifier works fine in this cases:
* Receive a new message
* Read messages in the device
The notifier not detects a new message if
* You have X unread messages and (in another device, like PC) you read Y messages and Z new messages are arrived before next phone sync (and Y + Z < X)
In other cases, the app works fine.
Comments are welcome!
For use it, you can disable ringtone notifications (setting notification sound to silent) in Gmail (prioritary or normal inbox depending of your choice), but not notifications (i like gmail notifications and I don't have included in my app),
the go my app and configure repeats, sound and vibration the enable the service in the top-right of the screen.

Changelog
1.0.0
- Initial release
1.1.0
- Corrected bug calculating the silent hours
- Added spanish translation
1.2.0
- Added setting in order to continue playing leds (but no sounds and vibration) when reminders max count reached
Released into the Play Store

not working for me
I am running android 4.1.1 and gmail v4.2.1. App doesn't seem to do anything.
I configured:
1. Gmail app notification on but silent.
2. On your app picked acct, turned off priority inbox (to monitor plain inbox), picked ringtone, turned off silent hours.
3. To enable, the on/off switch says off in gray (when disabled it says on in blue - a little confusing).
When new Gmail comes through, I am only getting the standard Gmail visual notification. No sound.
Am I missing something?
I really want this to work because I too like the standard Gmail notification, I just want it to repeat.

It works now (D'oh!). I swear I tried both toggles before. Oh well, thanks:good:
Well, I still have a couple suggestions:
1. Change the on/off to "enabled" and "disabled". The problem is that on/off refers both to the state of on and off and to the process of turning on and turning off, so you're never quite sure what you're doing when you push the button.
2. If possible, and this sounds more complicated, make the beeping stop after the notification in the pull down has been dismissed, even if the email hasn't been read. The reason I like the standard Gmail notification is because you can see what the email is straight from the notification area and dismiss it without even opening Gmail. But if you keep on getting beeps, you have to open it anyway, so there's no point.

Hi,
Happy to known that's working for you!
1)
love the switch, i think don't need to be changed.
2)
not possible to make that, due to the limitations of the Gmail API, that exports only the label names and the number of unread messages, but with the new Gmail app (published just a few minutes ago), you can archive emails from the notifications bar

I agree the on/off is attractive, but now you must click the on button to turn off and click the on button to turn off. Could just change button assignments so that clicking off disables and clicking on enables.

sorry,
possibly i don't understand, but i think the switch is ok.
if switch value is "on" (blue color) the app monitorizes the gmail inbox or prioritary inbox and notifies the new messages (and the repeats)
if switch value is "off" (gray color) the app don't monitorizes (and don't repeats).
is not?

Yes, the blue color indicating on is great. Playing with it some more, what confused me is that when it's on and blue and you press the on (right side of switch) it changes state and vice versa for off.
So when it's blue (on), only the left side of switch should respond to touch. You should not be able to turn off by clicking "on" or turn on by clicking "off". The fact that I was confused says something (besides "what an idiot!").
But anyway, I'm really curious about the new Gmail version. I went to update and nothing showed as an available update.

chompSMS with Gear S2 3G?

Is anybody successfully using chompSMS as their default text app and getting all of texting features on their watch? (I have a Galxy S6 on Verizon in the US).
Following an old thread for this issue on the Gear 1, I was able to get most of the features working. The issue, lies with the fact that the watch wants you to use the default messaging app "Messages" on Samsung phones (which is horrible). I have notifications for the default "Messages" app turned on and silenced on my phone and not showing notifications to prevent duplicates on my phone. I will copy the process from the other thread and link it below.
The best I am currently achieving is that when I receive a text on my phone, I get the chompSMS notification on the watch and can quick reply to it by viewing the text through the notification screen, or when it firsts pops up on the watch face. But if I go to the "Messages" app on the watch to look through a conversation, all I can see are the sent messages from the phone, and not the replies. I am unsure if this is because part of the chompSMS functions are working, or part of the "Messages" app on the phone are working. Either way, Id like to be able to see both the sent and received texts here.
Upon opening the "Messages" app on the watch, I get the message "Unable to receive messages on the Gear. Change the default messaging app to "Messages". I just skip past it to get to the messages.
Has anyone been able to get all of this working with chompSMS? I am unwilling to switch apps on my phone but if you have gotten other apps working, the process could be helpful to me. I would think there would be a way to trick the phone to use two default messaging apps or trick into not requiring one. I haven't rooted my phone but would consider if somebody has gotten it to work that way.

This is what I did...
I uninstalled Go SMS (I'm not sure if this is necessary), and reinstalled.
In the Go SMS :
In the "Notification Settings":
Enable Notifications --> checked.
In the Defualt notification settings:
Vibrate --> checked.
Blink LED -- checked.
In the "Other setting" menu:
Disable other message notification -- Un-checked
In the stock messaging app:
Under "More" tab:
Notifications --> checked
Select ringtone -- > set to "silent"
Vibrate --> Un-checked
Preview message --> checked.
Open the Application manager in the settings of the phone:
Swipe over to the "ALL" tab, and scroll down until you find the "Messages" app. Un-check "show notifications" This will prevent double notifications in the panel.
This should do it. When I received a text, the first time I clicked "show on device", the option popped up on the phone to select the default program between Go SMS and stock messaging. I clicked Go SMS, and set to "Always". Now it opens up Go SMS everytime.
Hope this helps some of you!
Thanks for any help you guys. Much appreciated.
I receive, reply & send with ChompSMS on my watch. I use the messages app on the watch, it *****es that you need different default message app but just click the "X" and send away.

so when you go to the messages app on the watch, you are able to see texts that you send using chomp from your phone? maybe i need to do a reset on my watch..
How do you have the notifications and alerts set up to achieve this?
anyone else have any insight?
I use Handcent and can't get it to work either. The watch always tell me to change the default messaging app. I asked Handcent (through their facebook page) several weeks ago if they were going to update it to support the Gear S2 and they have totally ignored me (and anybody else that posts there). They have a google group now that I submitted a request to join WEEKS ago and its still pending. Because of that, I switched to the default messaging app so it would work on the watch. Apparently handcent isn't interested in helping people that use their app. Perhaps you have better luck with ChompSMS than I have had with Handcent.

Interstingly, I emailed the people at chompSMS the other day and they got back to me very quickly that they have notified the dev team about it (who knows what will come of that).
It seems simple enough. In fact even if the third party apps could be used without being the default messenger, and not show the "make default app" banner when you use them, everything would work great. You'd just follow the instructions i linked above and all the features would work because the stock Messages app would be the default but not be giving you notifications.

I have noticed that it only syncs what I typed to others in the message app, but when i'm texting it show the interaction between who im texting. There is no special config, just make sure Chomp is selected in GM Notifications

notifications

I recently bought my pixel 2 and some apps won’t send notifications. I already tried setting them to “not optimized” at battery optimization.
Both of the apps are news apps… both are set to “on” at the notification center.
Any ideas?
Thank you.

Won't send notifications as in the apps aren't appearing in the notification drawer and are supposed to be? Perhaps in the apps themselves you need to go in and enable push notifications from notification settings within the app settings. I know with CNN and FOX this has to be done. Try that, otherwise install and reinstall. Doubtful this is a phone specific problem.
