It shouldn't use any data besides to update the driver. Try clearing all data for the app.

Is not the same as clearing all data. You could try allowing root access and disable selinux in v4a settings and reboot. Or it's just a bug that it used that much data, unless it is showing in your bill.
Where did you get your version? I got mine from the Magisk repo and it hasn't used any. Currently, I'm using WiFi
No data usage for me either using the Magisk mod. That certainly isn't normal. I'd be quite concerned as well.

i tried to search for the apk itself but no luck. I found the one in switch you have to place the folders in the systems part but I cant seems to get it to work. If you have a direct apk, i'd appreciate it.

No. Being that it is a Samsung app, the frame work and such should match, allowing it to be installed easily.

Yes, but not always. Sometimes app permissions are not automatically configured, and a lot of the Samsung apps are meant to be installed as system apps, or they will not work. Unfortunately, without root, there's not much we can do about that.

I have apps that clip tray work fine and others that it doesn't at all. My other phone has marshmallow and works fine in all apps. Is this a problem with this device, it is FDR-L19.. All permissions are turned on in apps

in some apps the copy/paste just plain dont work, and noticed today in some apps my number hyper link dont work...had someone send me a phone number and never went to dialer, checked all settings i know of and all looked good and set proper.

Well you're updated.
I don't see anything else you might do.
The common solutions are try another card (formated to extFAT), try the card in another phone and factory reset.
Just a heads up for those who might be interested.
I have been following the development of the /e/ project for a little while now -- and put in a request that they port the ROM to the Mi A1. Maybe some of you did too.
Anyways, the Mi A1 is now a supported device:

It's essentially an aosp rom with an iphone-like launcher and a few nice teaks and apps. no Google services or google apps. the goal is to avoid google services (and similar information gathering services) to increase security and privacy.
a nice intention. but to be honest I don't think flashing a custom Rom will increase your security! (just saying)
btw I tried it. booted up but started giving force closes for system ui. I needed the phone for the day so restored my backup rom. will try again tomorrow. perhaps formatting data (instead of wiping) would do the trick.

Will banking apps work?
Ok I got something weird that just started happening and wanted to see if anyone else has had the same issue. My damn ringtone keeps going to SILENT for no reason that i can determine, very random. And very aggravating to say the least.
Running Viper 2.3.0
Android 8.0.0
Maybe I should ask if there is an app that detects what changes a ringtone...

I had this happen to me as well. I did a clean flash of my custom ROM (Bad Boyz for unlocked HTC U11) and the problem was solved. Clean flash, BTW, is wiping cache, dalvik, system and data prior to flashing the ROM.

Lol, actually using it right now. Download the latest one for A11. Think its 2.7.21.
Key is to have selinux to permissive and switch it to legacy mode in viper settings
