Unlock Pixel gestures on OnePlus 6 with DP3 - OnePlus 6 Guides, News, & Discussion

Requirements:
1) OnePlus 6 with DP3 installed
2) A PC with adb setup
Steps:
1) Make sure you have adb debugging on under developer options in your phone
2) browse to the folder where adb is setup and open terminal by pressing shift key and right click on the mouse
3) connect your phone and check whether it's properly connected by using command adb devices
4) then enter the following command and you'll have the pixel gestures unlocked
adb shell settings put secure swipe_up_to_switch_apps_enabled 1
Disclaimer:
1) will work only if you use oneplus launcher
2) with other launchers you'll get oneplus launcher force close dialogue box when you try to access recents
3)this hack replaces traditional navigation bar with pixel gestures, you still have oneplus gestures available to use
4) to revert back to traditional navigation bar do step 1 to 4 with the following changed code instead
adb shell settings put secure swipe_up_to_switch_apps_enabled 0

Developer preview 3 of Android P, I noticed a glitch in navigating with oneplus gestures in Android P, this glitch isn't present in any of the stable oreo builds, the pixel gesture has more things you can do with it and also seemed to remove the transition glitch I was noticing.

Yes it worked. I used the app "terminal emulator"
First command: su
This will grant terminal emulator root permission.
Then this command: settings put secure swipe_up_to_switch_apps_enabled 1
That's it.

How can I use this to run my application from IntelliJ (AndStudio)!
I have installed this. I have given it root access, I have applied Wifi mode, I have then tried to connect to the IP address in Wifi info but I just keep getting the message that it cannot connect. No problems with USB. Can anyone confirm that it works using wifi?
The question that strikes me is .. how is this different to other tools like adb wireless?
What I am looking for ist a tool that fixes my adb to wireless regardless of a reboot or of a wifi toggle and easily lets me set it back to permanent USB. Haven't found that yet. I can boot with adb wireless with an init.d script but there is not a real simple way to turn that off I want to go back to USB. Maybe that's sort of a brain teaser
Doesn't work!
Settings are dead.
Don't even try this crap, guys.
P.S.: Anyone took a look inside? May be it is some root trojan?
useless
Or you can just open terminal emulator and type:
Code:
su
setprop service.adb.tcp.port 5555
restart adbd
And you can disable it and return ADB to listening on USB with
Code:
su
setprop service.adb.tcp.port -1
restart adbd
PC side:
Code:
adb tcpip 5555
adb connect 192.168.x.x

Android Studio keeps starting up its own instance of ADB. To use this with android studio you need to run adb kill-server and the the adb connect command.

how to run an app on a tablet which only opens Settings?

On an Asus Zenpad 3s 10 Z500KL tablet, RU Unistaller Pro has been wrongly used to freeze an app named "ZenUI Launcher". After restart, only notification bar and Settings work. I need to run RU Unistaller Pro to defrost "ZenUI Launcher".
How can I run RU Unistaller Pro in this situation (via ADB, or any other solution)?
Or if you have any other solution, please guide me.
Sincere thanks in advance

Try this.
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/4567904/how-to-start-an-application-using-android-adb-tools
You can also use a terminal emulator app or the terminal emulator that is built into TWRP to run adb shell commands(adb shell, not regular adb). Terminal emulator and adb shell are virtually the same thing, they both use the same commands, just remove the "adb" or "adb shell" part from the commands.

You don't have TWRP but do you have root? If your device isn't rooted, terminal emulator won't work.
If you are rooted, install the Terminal Emulator app, open terminal emulator(grant superuser permission when promoted), then type:
su (then press enter)
Then type the am command as described in the link, just change the command to input the name of the actual apk file associated to the app that you want to start, you have to know the actual name of the app package instead of the name of the app as it appears in app drawer or homescreen. I don't know the actual package name of the app(s) you want to start so you will have to figure out the exact command for yourself.

Ok without root, you need to add --user 0 to the am command and you wouldn't have to type the "su" command first before typing the am command, you just type the am command.
So you would add it to the command as follows:
am start --user 0 (then the rest of the command including the proper package name for the app you desire to start)

If terminal emulator doesn't work, install "adb/fastboot 15 second installer" on your PC, then open a terminal on PC, connect your device to PC while the phone is booted into system as you would normally use the device, then type:
adb devices (press enter, if it returns a serial number you're connected)
Then type:
adb shell (press enter)
This will put you in adb shell to run shell commands
Then type:
adb shell (along with the rest of your am command with --user 0 and your app package name)
Hopefully, that works for you.

If Terminal Emulator works for you without root, you can create a script as a batch file (.bat file, select "file" in note editor, then "save as", then "all files", name the file "whateveryouwant.bat) using a note editor on PC with the commands contained in order in the file. Move the created file to your device and store it in the root of your internal sdcard, then run the script by opening Terminal Emulator and typing the command to run your batch file script whenever you want, this can automate the process somewhat.

This is "freeform" window mode, and it isn't bad. Sadly it's far inferior compared to Samsung's multiwindow mode, in my opinion.

Can't side load apps after updating to Android 11 - HELP!

Xiaomi Mi 10T stock global stable. Updated to Android 11 and can no longer side load anything – not just Google apps, ANYTHING. Not even via ADB installation commands.
Then I learned that Google introduced something called "app integrity" with Android 11 that hinders side loading. It's a function of Google Play Services, which stores its rules in an inaccessible directory (so I can't delete them). I tried uninstalling Google Play Services altogether and cutting all access to the Internet, but that didn't work either.
There must be a workaround that doesn't involve me having to root my phone (too much hassle and risk for my liking), or reverting to Android 10 (is that even possible?).
Any help would be appreciated.
adb sideload is TWRP specific feature so if you updated your Android Version you need to update TWRP too so it support adb sideload once again ... or you just using adb sideload command directly ??

adb sideload is NOT TWRP specific.
ADB Sideload is a mode the bootloader loads device into if requested to do so.

Directly, I guess. Am I using it wrong? Tbh, I'm not a dev and don't know what TWRP is.
Before Android 11, I was always able to install APKs directly via the phone. Only after updating did I try it via ADB to see if it solves my problem and it didn't – despite ADB being properly installed and my use of the appropriate commands.
Don't confuse "Sideload an APK" and "ADB Sideload" as others here do.
ADB Sideload isn't the correct method to install ( sideload ) APKs.

How to Use ADB Sideload in Android [Stock and TWRP Recovery]
In this guide, we will show you how to install ZIP files using the adb sideload command in both the stock and custom TWRP Recovery.

To sideload an APK you run adb install [Options] APK what of course requires USB-debugging got enabled on phone before.
i dunno about Android 11 but have you tried installing it casually then just enable "allow Install unknown apps" ??

Yes, this is what I tried but it didn't work unfortunately. I keep getting "Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_USER_RESTRICTED: Install canceled by user]".

C'mon bro, I'm not that much of a noob. It's allowed for all the apps from which I install APKs.
I can no longer install casually after updating to Android 11.

On some devices "Install Via USB" must also get enabled.

^ ohh yeahi forgot that there's this setting on Developer Options it's called Verify app over USB you provably need to disable that since your apk is from unknown source

It's always been disabled, except for the one time I enabled it to see if it would make a difference – it didn't.
Problem solved. Turns out uninstalling 'MIUI security components' (com.miui.guardprovider) when debloating is what caused me to lose the ability to side load!

Question Light Mode from Fold 4 (Oneui 5.0)

Its Possible to use the light Mode in the Oneui 5.0 beta.
with Adb:
Light mode:
adb shell settings put global sem_low_heat_mode 1
Default mode:
adb shell settings put global sem_low_heat_mode 0
Or with aliance shield:
How to verify its on light mode using adb only? I did this on beta oneui 5.0 but do not see any 'light mode' under device care.

run adb command to see if setting applied,
if it shows 1 it's on.
adb shell settings get global sem_low_heat_mode
