Is there anyway to flash a full ROM already rooted older version for this model?
This would remove the step to return to factory initial condition to take the upgrade? (I know the device is young, but some established phones this is the way to do it if bootloader and modem is up to date) so the first question is possible to create such a ROM and post?
You could use https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/extract-dat-marshmallow-lollipop-easily-t3334117
extract system.img from update.app, unpack system.img using Imgextractor.exe.
Unpack boot.img from update.app.
Extract boot.img using Android Image Kitchen.
Preroot ramdisk.
Make a flashable zip from extracted system.img and boot.img. Set up permissions, copy files..., etc in updater-script. Make the script flash boot.img.
Done. (In theory, I've not built a rom for any Huawei device yet.)
But to answer your question: Yes.
Just look at the KangVIP roms over in Development. You could just build a stock rom with root.
Edit: Imgextractor actually saves permissions to a file.
Edit 2: You could just flash the newer boot.img in TWRP and root it there, then extract boot image using dd and include that in your rom.
OR use su in /system/bin/
Edit 3: Any rom makers here? Would VENDOR and PRODUCT need to be extracted and flashed as well? (Assuming you're on a pre B183 C567 stock rom)
Nevermind, system.img is unextractable :/
Or the tool I use is not compatible with android N.
That would be awesome I'm stuck on c636 and have no way of going to c567 without paying.
Your headed in a direction, lots of us owners have been waiting for...

Benefits of 567 over 636?
I have the stock boot image file of SM-G955FD Oreo (8.0.0) Indian firmware
in .tar.md5 format I need it to be converted to .img as .tar.md5 format is not supported by MagiskManager for patching.
Here is the stock boot image of SM-G955FD Oreo (8.0.0) Indian firmware :

Please any body provide me this boot image file in .img format or tell me an easy way to do so.
Thanks a lot in anticipation!
You don't convert .tar.md5 files into .img. .tar.md5 is just a regular tar archive (ustar format) with md5 checksum appended to it. You can unpack it as any other tar archive, it contains the device images you are probably asking for.
Oreo images are lz4-compressed, so you also need to decompress them, after that you will be left with usable .img files for different partitions.
Edit: Here's G955FXXU1CRB7 boot.img
Can you give me link to Galaxy S3 SGH T999N boot.img please
Hello,
I get a notification that I can update my P20 Pro from .131 version to .152 version.
The update has around 700MB, the problem is that when my update gets downloaded and when I reboot the device it reboots the device in to a TWRP where I get an error 9 with an information that the update has failed to install.
What can I do?
Should I remove TWRP, would that help?
I really want that update since I have very bad SOT (4 hours of SOT max )
Thank you all in advance
Hi,
We can't do it if you have TWRP. You must use HuRUpdater.
I did it on my P20.
You can use Huawei Firmware Finder APK on play store to download the packages.
(I will do it with 8.1.0.164 )
How to use:
Warning: Make sure you know what you are doing and do not flash firmware from other devices.
Download firmware files (for official firmware use Huawei Firmware Finder).
Put files you want to flash in a seperate folder on sdcard.
Supported zip files to flash are (name must match):
update.zip (use FullOTA file)
update_all_hw.zip
update_data_public.zip
Optional: Put recovery.img in same folder if you want to keep custom recovery.
i want to flash stock 8.0 firmware on honor 8 FRD-Al00C00B396 (boot-loader lock). I want to know which file(s) I need to download using firmware finder pc version. Firmware finder show me 7 files. My question is can i use 3 Files to flash (update.zip, data_full.zip & frd_al00.zip) or just 1 update.zip??? (see attached 1st image)
After I download update.zip (not tested yet), I see two many files in zip file. Can i only put update.app in dload folder or all files??? (see attached 2nd image)
Any one??? who help me.
Feel free to place here firmware files (modem, emmc, persist, dsp...) extracted from fastboot images.
I'll start with the firmware from V11.0.7.0.
I downloaded the fastboot ROM from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/fastboot-xiaomi-mi-a2-fastboot-images-t3824871 and extracted it to the PC.
I found on Telegram a flashable firmware zip from @tupoeblo and @bengunn_Serg MOD EDIT: Telegram link removed, please read the STICKY! and replaced the image files in the folder firmware-update with the ones from extracted fastboot ROM. I also removed the splash.img because I wanted to keep my splash image.
I copied the firmware zip to the phone and flashed it via TWRP.
Firmware extracted from Daisy Global V11.0.7.0.QDLMIXM:

Thanks! Flashed over posp custom, nothing yet to report
