Hello,
New Samsung user here. Is it possible to stop someone from swiping away notifications on my lock screen?
My children often pick up my phone and they end up swiping away notifications on my lockscreen. I have a secure lockscreen and hidden notification information, yet this doesn't stop the notifications from being swiped away.
its very irritating as i often completely miss messages and emails.
any suggestions?
Thanks!
Peter

Thanks mecoromeo. Can't seem to find an app to do it. Also not keen on giving a third party app access to all my notifications.
It seems strange that this behaviour is unique to Samsung. Didn't happen on my Nexus, Motorola, or lg phone.

Hiding the notifications altogether is not an option. If I didn't care about the notifications there wouldn't be an issue.
Notification icons can be swipped away....
I don't give the kids to my phone. They pick it up. I suppose I could keep my phone in my pocket all the time. Makes yoga more difficult thou

Well i thought they faded out when you swiped to a screen and stoped. Mine sre there all the time. Did or do they fade out or am i losing it? I installed a home app and uninstalled because it messed things up. If the dots did fade how can i turn this back on? Also was looking around for away to do a factory reset but cant find where to go? This looks like a home app feature. Check the preferences of ur home app. Need not reset phone when tinkering with ur home app can do the trick. If ur home app, does not support it u may have to switch to a different home app that has this feature.
On stock touchwiz forthe captivate the dots do not disappear.
This is my captivate. There are many like it but this one is mine.
Have stock home not using an app. Its what came with phone. Someone doesnt know were i can find where to mess with home options? Thanks

The dots don't disappear for a reason. You can tap on a dot and go directly to that page without having to swipe through them. That's why they remain visible.
You can't make them disappear, no matter how hard you try haha. If your looking for customization I would suggest ADW.launcher or launcherpro. Both are on the market and I really enjoy both. If you have other questions feel free to ask

Just an FYI, if and when and depending on how the Froyo update comes for the Captivate, if you are running a non-stock launcher you may have issues getting the update.

I had the same experience with PIE. I never use it because I can't see my notifications when I turn my screen on quickly and turn it off, but Halo might solve that problem. However, I do have issues with PIE because it gives me issues with things at the very bottom of my screen like the space key. Sometimes I hit the key and it activates PIE instead of space (or whatever else I have down there are the moment).

Yes, but it creates the same issue for me. If I want to swipe the screen from right to left in an app it pulls out pie.
It's a minor issue and one I would surely get used to if I used it more, but it has still kept me from using it.
been impatiently waiting for this feature. hopefully it gets ported over to our build with the quickness. it looks great.

Me either, it makes a lot of sense on phones with on-screen softkeys, like the Nexus, but on a phone with dedicated hardware buttons like the GS3, it's totally unnecessary.

unless youre like me and dont use hardware buttons.
Ive always used pie or the navigation bar.
I hate using the buttons.
Pie is useful for shortcuts to activities or apps you use often.
Example: I may want to look at the weather or messaging app, or maybe even battery stats. But I'm in the middle of a different app. No need to close it and find the app on my home screen. I can just use pie.

I like the idea of HALO, but I haven't found a ROM yet where the blacklist function works as advertised. I'd like to have HALO not show me Tasker or Clipper (my clipboard manger), and blacklisting and whitelisting never work.
On the PIE tangent, it's nice to be able to do things like sticking in a shortcut to a Tasker task to the app drawer, so you can get to your app drawer without having to go to the home screen first. Having 2 rows available as in some ROMs gives lots of quick options.
waitting for the apk
I love the lmt launcher I hope they make halo a apk file so I can install it like lmt on my moar ROM

just personal preference. I just dont like using the buttons. once you get teh gestures down its quick and responsive. it also adds some real estate to the screen over the nav bar. that with halo allows for full screen use which i like.

yea, i dont like the new ls either... i prefer the aosp one...
Use the message center lock screen widget. Its a single communication screen for all messages. Does that help?
Guys the problem is this - when you enable ""Preview Message" it enables it on the lockscreen, which is nice I guess, whatever. But, this also enables you to see who sent the message in the notification shade.
Now, when you turn it OFF it still shows it in the lockscreen AND the notification shade but doesn't tell you who it is.
The big issue with this is, if you have a lock-pattern or other security turned on WITH "Preview Message" turned on, then anyone can see the contents of the SMS on the lockscreen - BAD SECURITY. On AOSP, this did not behave in this manner. On AOSP you would receive the notification, but that's all I need to see "Hey I have an sms!" - I don't need to preview this if I have enabled security on my phone for the very reason of keeping prying eyes off my phone.
I've never liked the new lockscreen of jellybean...I find lockscreen widgets annoying and pointless...then again I never really liked widgets in the first place haha

I was JUST going to post about that. I have some nosy ass girls who look over at my huge screen whenever they hear a beep or a buzz and I REALLY can't believe they wouldn't include a seperate option to NOT see the message preview from the lock screen.
It's nice to be able to preview it WHEN you slide the notification bar yourself but I don't need prying eyes on my lock screen.

im running apex launcher pro and rooted but even when i enable all the options , i get no notifications on my lockscreen , does it work with apex or only tw ?
I hate this lock screen too! It's so frustrating because I have long fingers, and I very often hit the clock when trying to swipe which just "grabs" the clock instead of unlocking the phone..
I am completely missing the point of widgets on your lock screen. I don't want them at all and I want to turn them off, but that's not an option. Why?? I want the screen to unlock whether I swipe the clock or a blank part of the screen!
Opening messages directly from the lock screen now is also a chore. Who thought to themselves that sliding a puzzle piece across the screen (or dragging your finger across an icon) to look at a message was too hard, and then came up with the current implementation? Click the message, then swipe your finger in a very specific part of the screen. Because that's intuitive.
We can have many home pages that have all of the widgets and icons we want on them. Why do we need an extra layer of them on our lock screens? If the lock screen weren't cumbersome to use, then shortcuts on the lock screen wouldn't be necessary because they wouldn't be saving any time.
The way the lock screen works really irritates me, and I honestly thought about just keeping my GS III because of it (and a couple of other things that are OT).
As cheesy as the slider lock screen on the iPhone is, one thing I really like about it is the ability to open the camera app directly without having to input my (corporate IT mandated) PIN to use it. That extra second or two wasted putting in my PIN on the S4 could mean I might miss a neat shot. It needs some tweaking, for sure.

Make sure Light flow is checked in accessibility settings. So currently, having an "always on" notification for any one setting will mess with the other settings. Dev is working on a fix. other than that it should be working.

You should be starting to get the update now. I've done a workaround for always on as the LG drivers just don't accept it. I'd class the "always on " option for the Nexus 5 as being "almost always on"
Updated the app now, will see how it goes
I still seem to be getting notification light illuminated after the notification has been read.
Addmitedly I don't have it running as a foreground service.
Anyone know of a way to get rid of the lightflow notification in the pull down shade? I like to keep that area clean for notifications. I know other apps offer an option to disable that notification.

I saw other people saying that they can double tap on a lockscreen notification to jump into that app in Marshmallow, but my lockscreen behaves the same after getting the Marshmallow update. Is this the case for everyone else?

Thanks for testing it out. I've asked about double tapping on lockscreen notifications on Marshmallow Note 5 and I swear someone said it'll take you into the app. It's really dumb Samsung disabled this function, I loved it on the Nexus 6P.
Np, I was a little disappointed as well. I guess it does save battery life since it only displays and doesn't have to "feel" for your fingers.
Plus it is always on and doesn't pulse like the Moto feature.

Try just tapping on a notification once, it'll become non-transparent, then doing the normal swipe unlock....that should do what you are looking for. I hope I didn't misunderstand what you were looking for.

Yes, the end result of getting into the app from a lockscreen notification is what I want, but on the Nexus phones running vanilla Marshmallow, you can just double tap on the notification (no need to tap, swipe, just double tap) and it'll take you straight into the app. It's more intuitive and user friendly. I wonder why Samsung decided to keep the weird system from Android 5.
It works with Good Lock installed...just double tap. Good Lock is getting better and better too, worth a look!
