Bricked ERROR MODE Func NO : 8 Error NO : 1 - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hi,
Yesterday I've tried to rebrand my phone FRD-L09C432 to FRD-L09C10 version. It succeeded and I was in EMUI 4.1.
Then i tried to use hackslash's method to flash android O. While flashing the rom with HuRupdater I've go an error.
Now my phone is bricked in
ERROR MODE
Func NO : 8 (hifi image)
Error NO : 1 (security verify failed)
I've been able to go to fastboot once, and i unlocked bootloader again, but now I can't go back to bootloader anymore.
I've tried every button combination and i left my battery drain to 0% but still no success.
If anyone of you got an idea, I'd be grateful

Did you tried to update your device to Oreo directly from EMUI 4.1. My guide clearly said that you need to flash Nougat package and not Marshmallow one before flashing Oreo.
Regardless, your device is screwed unfortunately and you can't boot your device to fastboot is problematic. I guess you also can't reboot your device to recovery since after you performed the unlock the device has to perform a factory reset and since it's unable to perform it, it has locked you out of fastboot. When I was stuck in this situation, I discharged the battery completely and connected it to PC while holding the volume down button to force it into fastboot. I had to do it several times until it finally worked. After that flash TWRP to your device immediately. Reboot your device to recovery by connecting it to PC and holding the Volume Up button instead. TWRP will allow you to flash a PV package and restore your device.
If you're still unfortunately unable to get your device up and running you have to use DC Phoenix to restore the firmware (it's a paid solution, costs 15 Euros).

Thank you for the answer.
Btw, can DC Phoenix helps me even when I don't have access to the bootloader? Or do I need first to find a way to go into bootloader

DC Phoenix can help you even if the bootloader is not accessible. For that you have to disassemble your device and follow the DC Phoenix Method 3 aka Test point method to flash board software package and then the complete OS.

HI again, I'm actually in bootloader mode, but flashing TWRP gives me the error FAILED (remote: partition length get error). Do you have any idea on what's causing it ?
EDIT : fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk <your file as usual> worked
EDIT 2 : can't get to reboot in recovery after flashing with that command
EDIT 3 : When I try to reboot to recovery, I get the screen saying "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted..." but then I have the error Func NO : 11 (recovery img) Error NO : 2 (load failed!)

What TWRP are you trying to flash? I recommend flashing Honor View 10 one from twrp.me. After you install it and you're able to boot to recovery, ping me back.

Well I won't lie, you're in the exact same situation I was in. However even if your phone doesn't turns on, it's still in fastboot mode. Connect it to PC and check fastboot if it is connected. If not hold down the power button to force a restart and then hold volume down button and reconnect the phone to PC. As soon as fastboot detects your device, use DC Phoenix to again flash the EMUI 401 firmware. This time it will flash successfully.

Idk, I try every button combination but the screen stays black and fastboot isn't connected

Screen didn't turned on for me too. But I guess I was lucky enough that the device was in fastboot mode and I was able to flash the firmware.
Your only choice is the Method 3 now, the Testpoint method.

I simply don't know how to thank you enough. Changed the USB port and my phone is now connected in fastboot mode.
I flashed again with DC Pheonix, it failed again, but my phone restarted and screen turned on. Bootloader was again locked, I unlocked it again and then flashed TWRP from the TWRP Honor 8 Guide.
Now I'm finally back in TWRP, which firmware should I flash ? I'll follow exactly your instructions ahah

Okay, what you should do is, flash L09C432 oeminfo.img from TWRP (you can check Huawei MultiTool for the image). After that perform a complete factory from TWRP. Don't reboot your device yet.
Then, flash B394 firmware (FullOTA-MF-PV one) and ensure you flash all the files available for that firmware (two files). Once the flash is complete reboot your device and you're on EMUI 5. You can then use Firmware Finder to update your device to latest package authorised for your device.

When i click Launch Huawei MultiTool the CMD is in Russian even tho English is selected

Solved - FRP Locked, Phone not booting

Hi All,
Need help.
I was flashing 320 on L29C185 and things went wrong. I was on Kangvip and dirty flashed it.
Now the phone not booting and in fastboot it shows remote command not allowed. It shows BL and FRP locked.
Now I have the BL code but how to unlock the FRP as I am unable to boot into the ROM even after installing the update from stock recovery. The installation of update completes and after reboot, shows the huawei logo on the first screen and then just goes blank.
Any help would be appreciated.
Solved: Step by step guide below:
1. Download DC-Unlocker Phoenix software from there website.
2. Boot your phone in Fastboot mode using Vol - key and Power key pressed together and USB cable plugged to computer and phone.
3. Launch Phoenix and click OK on the first warning.
4. Enter your DC-Unlocker account ID and Password which you get when you purchase credits from the website.
5. If you want to read the tutorial about the Phoenix usage, select Yes otherwise continue pressing No.
6. Make sure that You seect Fastboot mode and App file in the options on the home screen and select the Update.App that you want to flash using the three dots.
7. Phoenix will extract the update.app in the folder and will list the files for you in the tool.
8. Click Select All and click update.
9. On the left hand side you will see the progress of flash.
10. Once it says firmware flashed OK, remove your phone from USB and reboot.
11. After booting, do a DLOAD flash by placing the update.app in the DLOAD folder in the root of SDCARD and pressing Vol +-and power key at the same time.
This should fix your phone unless you messed up real bad like I did and below is what I did to recover it.
USING THIS METHOD REMOVES IMEI AND OTHER NO. FROM YOUR PHONE SO YOU WILL HAVE TO RESTORE THEM USING HCU CLIENT WHICH AGAIN NEEDS 8 CREDITS FROM DC-UNLOCKER.
1. After the above steps, my phone was still not working. So I from the phoenix software click on the Enter Support Area.
2. Download the Factory image for your device (unfortunately only AL10 is available for Mate 8, no L29).
3. In Phoenix, select IMG file instead of the App files.
4. Select the factory image downloaded from the support area by selecting the three button menu.
5. Connect your phone in fastboot mode.
6. Select update and wait for the process to complete.
7. After process ins complete, remove your phone and reboot.
8. After reboot, you can DLOAD you relevant firmware using SD Card dload method.
9. Once the process is complete, you will have to restore your IMEI using HCU Client which will again use DC-Unlocker credits.
10. Launch HCU and put in your ID and password and connect. It will show how many credits you have in your account. You should atleast have 8.
11. Go to project menu of your phone by dialling *#*#2846579#*#* and selecting ProjectMenu -> 2.USB ports setting -> Select Manufacture mode
12. Connect phone to laptop and select read phone info.
13. Go to the tab Repair UMTS and select the IMEI and Sub IMEI and enter your 1st and 2nd IMEI in them respectively.
14. If you want to change the MAC of bluetooth and Wifi, you can do that otherwise leas=ve it as it is.
15. Click on repair and it will rewrite your IMEI nos. and reboot and factory reset the phone.
Doing these steps should give you your phone in 100% working conditions. Atleast I got my Mate back by following the exact same steps.

I no longer have twrp which is the problem. I got stock recovery now. Tried wiping data and cache in that but to no avail. Still fastboot not accepting any commands saying remote commands not allowed. So can not flash TWRP as well.
I just used DC Unlocker Phoenix to recover using the 320 stock update.app. It completed the process successfully on the tool but then also after the reboot, the screen remains black and do not boot up.
Any help??

I did it many a times but from stock recovery as FRP lock is preventing me from flashing TWRP.
But clearing it from stock is doing nothing. I have done the dload update from SD Card for atleast 8-10 tomes by now in hope that it might boot but to no avail.
Any other way around to unlock FRP or to flash TWRP?

Done multiple times from stock recovery. Tried flashing 320 as well as 200 but both fail to boot as after the splash screen of Huawei, the bot animation never shows and it just stays black.
I have L29 but should I try the second method of DC Phoenix tool to recover using the factory image of AL10 maybe??
Have anybody tried it till now?
Push the B320 UPDATE.APP in dload Folder in SD Card Press all three Buttons at same Time (Power Button,Volume+ and Volume-)
and waiting to finish the Update
Flashed 320 via dload as mentioned by you around 8 times already as mentioned above posts.
Also flashed 200 as well. Not booting.

Ok. Restless guys.
Follow this simple procedure.
In SD card, dload your original firmware unzipped.
Put it in the tray and slide in.
Power on your mate 8 by holding volume-up and power and when u see screen that it's booting, leave the phone and go for a long loo
Don't leave the keys till you see Device Booting....
After about 8-10min, it will start flashing the dload firmware.
Then factory reset once done and reboot.

Volume up + Power means leaving the phone in the stock recovery which I did multiple times but it just switches off itself after couple of minutes. Not sure if this is right..
Some hope seen right now when after trying to flash the stock rom again and again, got the bootloader unlocked and the first screen has came back with orange text.
However, the system is still not booting. After the warning screen, it just sits on the black screen again and FRP is still shown as locked and not allowing any fastboot command to run so TWRP flashing is not possible.
Any help??

Bricked stock recovery and no flashable update.zip on Mate8 NXT-TL00 with L29 oeminfo

Hey guys,
I was using a NXT-TL00 with Android 7.0 and EMUI 5.0 and I wanted to change to a international ROM with Nougat and EMUI 5.
My current situation:
I unlocked the bootloader.
I can boot into fastboot and flash twrp-3.0.2-0-next.img
I can boot into that TWRP and flash MATE8-TL00-EMUI5.0_B577.zip. (Thanks again, paulcl!)
I can boot into that ROM and use it.
I changed my oeminfo and custom.bin from TL00 to L29 via SRKToolHuawei. Afterwards I had to unlock the bootloader again.
I tried to:
extract various update.zip (update.app inside of the zip) via HuaweiUpdateExtractor_0.9.9.5.
flash the extracted boot.img, recovery.img, system.img via fastboot manually and SRKToolHuawei.
wipe and format data, dalvik, cache, system in- and excluding reboots in every possible variation.
use different TWRP versions.
However:
I can't boot into stock recovery (even after flashing it).
I can't boot into eRecovery.
I can't flash any update.zip oder other ROM besides the one above. Why?
Using eRecovery or stock recovery won't work since I can't boot into it.
TWRP would print this error:

What I want:
A fully working TWRP so I can simple flash an update.zip
A working (stock?) L29 ROM with Android 7 or 6 and Emui 5 or 4 and preinstalled GAPPS.
A working stock recovery and erecovery
OTA support
the possibility to lock bootloader when everything else is working
What might help:
A ROM which won't touch the data partition so I can install it trough TWRP.
Maybe there is a way to put the system.img into a flashable zip-file so I can flash the partition via TWRP so there won't be the error message from fastboot. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do that. An TWRP doesn't allow to flash system.img directly.
BTW:
My current model number is: NXT-L29
My current build number is: "NRD90M test keys"
EMUI-Version 5.0, Android Version 7.0
Thanks for reading through my text. It would be great if there is someone to help me out here!

I already found a solution which is not perfect yet. First, I tried to follow the instructions from
How to install NXT-L29C432B560 (Official) Stock Firmware. (Guide with download links) by sillanwali.
Very helpful for me was post #49. I recommend to read through the first post and then coming back and follow the instructions below.
First, you need:
TWRP 3.0.3 (...3 is for Nougat)
this update.zip
MATE8-TL00-EMUI5.0_B577.zip
The procedure might be too long with redundant steps, but it worked for me. So give it a try:
Unlock bootloader
Flash twrp via fastboot(3.0.3 is for Nougat)
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.03.img
fastboot reboot
Boot into TWRP
Copy update.zip and MATE8-TL00-EMUI5.0_B577.zip to SD.
Wipe>format Data>yes
Wipe>Advance wipe >data, dalvik, cache, system
Install this update.zip linked above.
Try to reboot into system. Mine didn't boot into system, but stock recovery and erecovery are now installed. Go on!
Flash TWRP again (since it's overwritten by stock recovery. No worries - you now can now easily flash back stock recovery).
Boot into TWRP.
Copy MATE8-TL00-EMUI5.0_B577.zip to SD Card.
Again, do a full wipe.
Install MATE8-TL00-EMUI5.0_B577.zip.
Reboot into system. It now should work, however it's the Chinese version.
Extract the update.zip and copy update.app to a new created DLOAD folder on the SD Card.
Do a factory reset.
Flash the stock recovery via fastboot (or TWRP). You will get the image by extracting recovery.img of update.app with HuaweiUpdateExtractor.
Reboot into recovery to install the update.app (automatically).
Now you should be on NXT-L29C432B560.
If you want to use the update_data_full_hw_eu.zip or SuperSu follow the instructions in the How-to-install guide.
To be clear, I still have a few problems:
erecovery would boot but when I am trying to restore via wifi I will get the error: "getting package info failed"
Bluetooth and NFC are not working.
Maybe someone has a solution for that?

Root: Stuck at "Your device is booting now"

Hello! I tried to root my Honor 6x (BLN-L21, EMUI 5.0) following the instructions there:
cyberkey.in/how-to-root-honor-6x-100-working/
The bootloader was successfully unlocked.
But when I tried to flash TWRP the process failed and now my phone is stuck on boot :
"Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted [...] Your device is booting now."
I can get access to recovery and fastboot. I wiped the cache and tried a factory reset but nothing changed, my system won't start and I don't know what to do.
Please help!
if you have the boot backup then restore it.

I don't have any backup. Is there a way to just reset everything? Also I don't know how to connect to the phone anymore since adb won't find the device.
if you cannot find the boot.img
just do a rollback bro

I used the commands:

The guide from "cyberkey.in/how-to-root-honor-6x-100-working/" is simply wrong when it comes to flashing the twrp recovery. If you really followed this guide completely then you flashed the recovery to the boot partition.
Use "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" to flash the recovery.
You will still have to flash the boot image to your boot partition then (fastboot flash boot boot.img).

Ok so basically I need to flash the boot image. However I don't know where to find the stock boot image. I downloaded the so-called "full version" of the stock firmware that I found here: boycracked.com/2017/07/20/official-huawei-honor-6x-bln-l21-berlin-l21-stock-rom-firmware/
However there was no boot.img file inside.
If you could direct me to the proper stock boot.img or send me one, that would greatly help. I had EMUI 5.0 with Nougat 7.0 I believe, phone version BLN-L21.

Thanks. I successfully updated boot.img and and recovery.img, but system won't load, so I might have imported from the wrong STOCK version.
I tried to reinstall a stock ROM using:
fastboot flash system system.img
But I got this error message:

sending sparse 'system' (444686 KB)...
OKAY [ 12.901s]

Then I tried to erase the system file with "erase system" and got this error:

I guess that the only option now is to install the files on an external SD card?

I recommend you to download firmware files only from the official honor website or by using the huawei firmware finder(https://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/general/huawei-firmware-finder-team-mt-t3469146)
In this case try to use huawei firmware finder to get the right stock version for your phone. Download these two files: e.g. update.zip & update_full_BLN-L21_hw_eu.zip.
Export the following image files: recovery, system, boot and cust.
The try to flash them:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
If flashing a partition via fastboot fails then it is usually because it's the wrong image or just not made for your phone.

Hello, could you be more specific about your problem? I'll be able to help you.
Brief Explanation:
From the screen on which you're stuck, press and hold power button for about 10 seconds to forcibly restart your device. when you see the same screen again, immediately press and hold volume up button(for about 3 seconds) to boot to eRecovery.
> Choose shut down option on eRecovery. press and hold vol down button and insert the charging cable to boot to fastboot.
> Press and hold power and volume up button to boot to recovery. (You could do this even from fastboot screen and the screen you're stuck at).

failed (remote: partition length get error) - after update mate 9 to Oreo Beta

Hi my friends
I update my mate 9 to Oreo beta. its cool.
now I want install TWRP Recovery, but in installation through fastboot, I faced with this error:
failed (remote: partition length get error)
please help me. I cannot install recovery.
thanks
where did you get the Oreo beta?
I believe the beta can be downloaded through their web site as a limited tester. My understanding of flashing recovery onto the new Android build is that you'll need a newest version of twrp to work for oreo. Most the time the new updates will mess around with the internal storage space.

The recovery partitions are different in Android O. There is no working TWRP yet.
If you want to downgrade, however, there will be a solution soon.
Here is the solution (forwad)
This is TWRP to Mate 9/Android O, brought to you by FunkyHuawei. This will also work for the Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Mate 10 Porsche and other EMUI 8 devices.
It´s just a preliminary build so I can´t promise anything/everything will work! Keep that in mind. I´m not responsible if you brick your device.
DOWNLOAD LINK:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B45NCsO2AL_1NEh2aDFLM3JlYkU
It works on the Android O build here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/FunkyHuawei...id_o_beta_for/
and the official European beta.
To install:
First, have Android O running. Unlock the bootloader. Download the twrp image.
Then, run in fastboot mode:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp_android_o_mate9_a1.img
Then, reboot holding volume up, and you´ve got TWRP!
Note: With the Android O update, it is no longer possible to flash the recovery2 partition. Furthermore, the names of the partitions have changed. Please keep that in mind, and don´t mess around too much with TWRP, to be sure you don´t brick your system!

Well. You can flash most partitions. If you extract imgs from an oreo update.app you get the complete list (though some can't be flashed, like erecovery_*.img).
If you extract ramdisk (boot ramdisk) from update.app you flash it as fastboot flash ramdisk ramdisk.img. Kernel flashed as fastboot flash kernel kernel.img.
Recovery ramdisk as fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdisk.img
To extract in Huawei Update Extractor you need to go to settings and disable checksum, it won't extract because something is up with erecovery_ramdis.img (it's misspelled too).
thank you for your reply @ ante0
Something else please .. as I tried and failed to update from MHA-L09-c432198 to Oreo I now get a bootloop error 14 iom3 , I saw on another thread some solutions, which dont work for me as I just cannot boot into twrp because of my battery not charging, even in download / recovery mode... battery three months old... and always working good
What I need to know is how can I either get my twrp saved system back through fastboot or else how can I flash - again only by fastboot mean - the stock firmware of my c432b198 or ...? as i need to flash boot, recovery, cust & system , how can I do so while there is no CUST img in extracted data (seems to be inside the data img itself).
Or else how can do A COMPLETE FORMAT of my internal storage ? the command , any1 i do, give either "not allowed" or partition lengh etc"
any way I can use fastboot to get out of this bootloop iom3 error 14 which don't let my battery charge a little ?
I'm a little much confused and do apology for that. Any help is desesperated needed .
So what is the boot image or the boot partition now called in OREO? I am trying to unbrick my Honor 9 and had Oreo L09-B321 on it before. The only thing I am missing is to successfully flash boot since I am also getting the "partition length error" when I use fastboot boot BOOT.img.

My story:
I couldn't get any update from Settings>Update. My phone was EMUI4 (Android 6). I wanted to EMUI5 (Android 7). So I used firmware finder in phone(I mean, it's not windows app, it was android app). I thought me to need to install it version by version. So first, I selected b202 (there was it after b198) and I used to proxy to install. The phone downloaded the firmware and rebooted itself. No you are wrong, I can access fastboot but the phone dosen't let me do anything. For example, now I getting hifi error. I'm trying this: "fastboot hifi FW_HIFI.img" or "fastboot erase hifi" and the phone is responding: "FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)".
My phone is unlocked! But I can't do anything whatever I want.

Alot tools (aka, Uni-Android Tools) need to access phone via ADB. In fact, if I can connect the phone via adb or COMport, I can do everything.
So if you know how to do "flash the update.app via fastboot", tell me please. But I don't think do it with basic tools.
