G9650 (Snapdragon) CSC Change/ Stock firmware change (NON ROOT) - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi everyone,
Recently I flashed a stock ROM on my SM-G9650 and wandered around quite some time before gathering all the information to flash the firmware. Now I’m here gathering most (if not all) the information anyone might need to flash stock firmware to your device. This method does NOT require root and does NOT trip KNOX
First of all:
-Disclaimer-
I will not be responsible if your device gets bricked. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK. This is a guide, and even though its pretty straight forward, stuff happens.
Now, onto flashing the device:
A few prerequisites prior to flashing the device:
- ODIN (latest): https://odindownload.com/
- USB Drivers for Samsung: https://developer.samsung.com/galaxy/others/android-usb-driver-for-windows
- An ORIGINAL Cable for your device (Preferably the one that came with it).
- WinRAR or 7zip
- A backup of your data (Optional)
- Patience and time
Ok, now onto the flashing:
First things first: this is a guide for the G9650 (Hong Kong) Variant with UNLOCKED bootloader. If your device model is different, find a thread according to your device.
1- Go to: https://www.sammobile.com/forum/threads/40735-Galaxy-S9-G960-multi-CSC-pit-language , and find the correct Multi CSC for your country/Region. (I live in the Caribbean but chose to use ZTO because it has LTE+ and VoLTE, and the only bloatware is Word, Excel, PowerPoint, LinkedIn and One Drive.). Once you find your CSC, head over to https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ and download your desired Firmware. Here is a link for CSC code meaning: https://www.androidsage.com/2017/07...specific-product-code-csc-and-country-region/
2- Once downloaded, create a folder on your desktop and move the zip file to it, then extract. (You can choose any folder you want, I recommend desktop because it is easier to find)
3- Install the USB Drivers previously downloaded.
4- Reboot your pc (By actually opening windows and clicking reboot.)
5- Open Odin and search for the folder you placed the Firmware in.
6- Load BL, AP, CP and CSC (NOT HOME_CSC) onto the correct slots.
Now onto the phone part:
1- Unlock your phone and go to Samsung switch.
2- Back up your data. (If you do not have personal data, then skip)
3- Factory reset the phone, through the settings option.
4- Wait for the phone to boot into the welcome screen.
5- Turn off the device
6- While holding down the Bixby button and the volume up, press the power
7- When the Samsung logo shows, let go of the power and Bixby buttons. Keep holding the Volume up button until you boot into recovery.
8- With the navigation keys, factory reset the phone, once completed, wipe cache and data.
9- Turn off the device.
10- Turn on the device while holding down the Bixby button and volume down. Once the Samsung logo shows, let go of the Bixby button. Keep holding the volume down.
11- Once in the download mode (blue screen with an android), let go of the volume down. Press volume up to select download mode.
Back to the PC part:
1- Once the device is in download mode, connect it via cable and wait for ODIN to recognize it. (a blue box indicating COM port is the indicator that ODIN has recognized the device)
2- Since the BL, AP, CP and CSC have been loaded onto the correct slots, and the device is connected and recognized, go into options and make sure that Auto Reboot and F. Reset time are checked.
3- Press start and BE PATIENT AND CAREFULL, Flashing a firmware takes time. If your cable breaks connection with ODIN, YOU MAY brick your device.
4- Once completed, your phone will boot up on its own, reboot it manually.
Congratulations, you have just flashed a stock, almost bloatware free Samsung Firmware.
If you have any question, feel free to ask.
- To Mods and Admins: Forgive me if I break any rules, this is my first thread. Just let me know what went wrong and I will fix it ASAP

You might want to consider changing the links you have posted for Odin - The latest version is 3.13.1 - The xda link has Odin 3.10.6 and the first Odin link has 3.12.x
Sammobile.com is one of the more reliable sources for Firmware & They conveniently have a link to Odin 3.13.1 as well..
XDA also has a link to the latest version of Odin here:
https://forum-xda--developers-com.c.../odin-available-3-13-1-oreo-fws-t3755957/page
It's strongly recommended to use Odin 3.13.1 to Flash Oreo Firmware ??

The link i posted has ODIN 3.13.1, when you open it in the browser (request desktop site on mobile), under the first image is the button for it. I used that link and said (Latest) so that when you head there you get the latest odin. Also, the link for the firmware is sammobile . I now see that its not very intuitive so i will add the link for the firmware (just have to type the device model and download the desired firmware. Thanks for the heads up

I have been out of the Android game since the S7 Edge. I just swapped from iPhone 8+ to a S9+ and love it so far. Question I have is which firmware can I use to debloat my S9+? It's on T-Mobile and I dl the stock firmware from the posted link but I don't think this is the debloated firmware. Any help would be appreciated as I don't know what all this CSC stuff is.

I would highly recommend searching the forums for your variant since it is a Snapdragon and probably has locked bootloader. This guide is for G9650, even though the process is basically the same.

I'm familiar with how to flash with Odin but just don't know what debloated stock ROM is compatible.

I don't see a section dedicated to just the T-Mobile version on the S9+.

Make sure the downloaded model matches your device model. For a US variant its pretty hard to find one since most (if not all) put some kind of bloat on them. Search for: Bloat free firmware g965U, and look around.

I bought an unlocked s9+ from ebay and later found out that its country sale came from Panama. My canadian GSM network does work on the device, but certain apps like samsung members show spanish promotions or samsung pay not being available.*
Can the csc code and country be changed in this case so i am able to get the canadian setting and access.

Disclaimer: i have never tried alteration of any phone before so im new to this.

Odin 3 not getting past "NAND Write Start!!" (TWRP)

Hello,
I am new to this site so sorry if I'm doing something wrong. My Dad recently somehow (soft?) bricked his S7. Sometimes it gets to the lock screen, but then completely freezes after a few seconds and it has to be forced off. Other times it has given me a black screen with the error:
Bootloader exception
[ RST_STAT = 0x1000000 ]
Exception: do_handler_sync: UNKNOWN(esr: 0x2000000)
! @ @ @ @ D @
pc : 0x8f000a00 lr: 0x8f000048 sp: 0x0206f (cut off here)
'
And other times it has frozen at the boot screen and the screen has become pixelated.
So, after trying Kies (useless), waiting 24 hours and attempting to connect it to adb and fastboot (which I presume isn't really possible), I have resorted to using Odin to flash TWRP 3 onto the phone. However, when I try to flash the .tar (twrp-3.0.0-0-herolte.img.tar and also the latest one), no matter what USB port or cable or PC I use, it always goes straight to "NAND Write Start!!" and goes no further.
Any help would be appreciated as my Dad needs his phone back ASAP.
Thanks.
Side Note: I'm flashing it so I can recover his data, then I'm going to flash the factory firmware onto it.

Hey.
I can't check the model as the phone is bricked. All I know is there are only two versions and I'm pretty sure it's not Korea. I'm not flashing any firmware, because I want to get his data off the phone and I'm pretty sure flashing firmware will erase user data. Just trying to get TWRP onto the phone. Odin settings: F. Reset Time ticked, nothing else. Odin version: Odin 3 v3.09. Flashing the .img.tar file as specified in my post.
Thanks.

hi mate
there are more than two versions of S7...... how you know you are flashing the right image? at least you know if you have an Exynos version?
If the phone is bricked how you plan to recover the data the recovery alone may not give you access to the rest of the system and with a custom rom you may have to wipe ( format) the data partition to get access to it ( to disable samsung encryption)
there is a newer odin 3.12.3 try that

All I know is that this is shown when I boot into recovery:
Android Recovery
MMB29K.G930FXXU1BPHJ
samsung/heroltexx/herolte
6.0.1/MMB29K/G930FXXU1BPHJ
user/release-keys
I don't know if that helps at all. In terms of recovering the data, the site I'm following instructions from says there is a Mount > USB Storage option in TWRP, which is why I am doing it.
Thanks

Hi mate
Yes , you have a G930F (Exynos) the TWRP image you were using seem right , regarding this , if you install TWRP in order to access the System /data where all the user apps , info, pictures , mail , configurations ..... is you need to format it , that partition is encrypted only Samsung can access it , TWRP does not support it unless you disable it by formatting it ( AKA erasing everything), mount the phone as USB device it may give access to some partition but it will not give you access to the System/ data ( unless you had formated it before)
If you knew what was the phone CSC you could flash a stock firmware without loosing anything, you use home_csc instead of CSC

based on what you showed me, this should be the firmware installed on your phone, only BTU , XEU and EE had a BPHJ firmware in UK

is up to you ..... there should be safe almost 100% sure you should not lose any data.....but there is always a chance
Download firmware from the above link , extract ( un rar , use winrar 7zip) 5 files from the zip file , should be AP, BL, CP, CSC and home_csc , DO NOT USE CSC use all the other 4 files and flash them with Odin ( use the latest download link in the next link i will give you) with the same home_csc as is on your phone there should not be a factory reset .....all data is preserved........hopefully we have it

Alright, thank you very much for your active support. A few questions, obviously I cannot activate PIN in Secure Startup, will that affect anything? Also which slot do I put the HOME_CSC in? What exactly is the HOME_CSC?
Thanks again.
EDIT: Oh and also should I download the firmware from the thread to be safe and just replace the HOME_CSC? Or is the linked firmware 100% fine?

Your father did not have any pin or password set up before? if that is so use this password default_password when asked for
home_csc goes in the CSC slot in Odin , Country Specific Code it has specific information and or configuration for special services offered by your carrier plus determines when you get an OTA , when you change CSC you have to factory reset if you keep the same CSC ( home_csc) is not mandatory

Download the firmware from sammobile ( first link) extract the 5 files as i told , then you you have two options
1 Extract files ( sammobile) , use the home_csc ( plus the other 4) from them and flash with odin
2 Extract files ( sammobile) save home_csc , go to the second link ( guide) download the firmware from there BUT use the home _csc file you saved ( extracted) from the firmware from sammobile , this is key to not lose any data

How to install Official Nougat 7.0 for G935F for ALL countries

Being in MM , download and install BTU MM Firmware (UK) using Odin ( it MUST be this one the BTU one), once youre done, check your software update and it will begin to download the nougat update , (around 1,2 GB) no matter where you come from (im from Spain), it will install automatically, then change your Language settings, and THATS IT !!, you have Nougat Official , without tripping Knox, and working flowlessly! ( IS FOR EUROPEAN EXINOS MODEL ONLY) , and requires a little knowledge using Odin and all that stuff!
you can download the last BTU MM Firmware from here: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?q=G935F&r=BTU&order=date&dir=desc&exact=1
I hope to help all the people who wants Nougat now!

- Back-up any data from your phone that you don't want to lose, Samsung Smart Switch is a great way to do that
- Make sure USB Debugging is enabled on your phone in Developer settings, it doesn't hurt to tick OEM Unlock as well ( this is most likely not needed but I'm unsure, so make sure it's ticked just in case)
- Download the latest official BTU MM software for G935F
- Download Odin 3.12.3 onto your PC
- Download Samsung USB drivers and install those on your PC
- Extract the BTU firmware using Winrar
- Connect your device to your computer
- Reboot your phone into Download mode by using Vol. Down + Home button + Power button when your device is off, then press Vol. Up
- Make sure your device is recognized by Odin
- Select every file that has been extracted from the official BTU firmware and place them in their respective slots (Make sure that you use the regular CSC file instead of the Home_CSC file, this will wipe your data so you make sure you've backed up your files!!)
- Before you start, make sure that Re-partition is un-ticked in Odin, you can check this in the Options tab.
- Click start and let it do it's work.
After that, you can set up your device as you like, or just immediately go to settings and "Check for updates", then it should download the official update to Nougat right away.
Hope this helped!

How to get back to SM-G955u1 firmware from 955u with Bootloader REV 2

For all of you out there who happened to get stuck on 955u firmware containing bootloader 2 installed on the 955u1, there is hope!
I have successfully gotten back to 955u1 firmware and running stock OREO. (and have service again for those who are on non-mainstream carriers {Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T})
You will need (links to be added soon) (My Carrier in BL says XAA and these linked are the XAA firmwares):
USB 2.0 PORT
PRINCECOMSEY ODIN 3.12... link
regular ODIN 3.13.1 (what i used) link
G955U1UES2AQL1_G955U1OYM2AQL1 Firmware link
G955U1UEU2CRB9_G955U1OYM2CRB9 Firmware link
Official Samsung Cable that came with phone (preferably)
Windows OS
A Galaxy S8+ 955u1 Phone (only tried with this)
For some reason flashing just the CRB9 firmware would not work, I had to use the AQL1 and then to the CRB9
Instructions:
1. Extract both firmware files/zips (Put in 2 seperate folders so no mixups)
2. Reboot your phone to download mode (Power off then -- Power + Bixby + Volume Down at same time)
3. Open up princecomsey ODIN and then connect your phone to USB 2.0 Port
4. Add in the AQL1 Files - (BL, AP, CP, CSC) -- (I personally first did the AP, CP, and CSC then had it reboot then i restarted and flashed the BL by itself then rebooted) and press start. (I unchecked everything but reboot and f.reset time)
5. Unplug and Wait for it to turn on to the setup screen, then finish the setup (to verify that it runs and the model number is showing the correct #). If you open up settings it will be all jumbled up and weird, but dont worry. If you dont have service yet - dont worry.
6. Now after the phone is all setup (or if you decided to skip), unplug and power off the phone then boot into download mode again.
7. Now open up Regular odin and reconnect the phone
8. Now put in the CRB9 files (BL, AP, CP, CSC) (I put all in this time and i used the Home_CSC this time but you can use csc normal but no guarantee that would work with getting service again as i didnt try it) and press start and wait til it finishes and reboots (same goes here reboot, f stop time. but also check nand erase all -- to fix storage issue)
9. ENJOY!!!

Im going to be uploading the firmware and yes the VoLTE is working.
Also When flashing the CRB9 after the ALQ1 -- A repartition or nand erase all should be done as when i looked at my storage last night it was only 16GB but since im back to u1 firmware it shouldnt be hard to fix for me. i will edit with main post after i do it to my phone to ensure which one works.

Thank you so much! it worked coming from the g955u on verizon.
Was on Verizon 955U CRC5. Did the AQL1 and didn't have any jumbled or weird settings and storage is fine. Regular Odin failed trying to do CRB9. Downloaded the Software Update/OTA CRB9 update and all is good. On build R16NW.G955U1UEU2CRB9 with March 1 Security patch.

What if you flashed the sm-g955u1 version on to a sprint sm-g955u phone? would there be any way to power that back on, asking for a friend I believe thats what he done. Now his phone will not turn on.

Honestly I do not know all I have is a 955u1 and am unable to test for other models as I don’t have any others, and now since bootloader version 3 is out for the 955u1 it is the end of carrier switching unless there is a workaround found in the near future.
This should still work as long as you keep the device on the same bootloader v2 and not Flash any v3 bootloader Firmware as that will definitely brick the device from what I’ve heard of v3 bootloaders
Sorry for any late replies been really busy lately

I’m guessing your friend must have flashed firmware running bootloader v3 on it
(To tell what BL ver. The firmware contains look at the 5th character from the end and it is should be a number like xxx1xxxx or xxx2xxxx etc...) and if it was a 3 then that would be why as that firmware will brick the phone if it’s flashed on a different model (until there is a workaround)

I imagine you need to change your phone CSC's. To do that you need a PC with Windows and an internet connection (you need Latest Odin3 and Samsung USB Drivers), your Galaxy A8 with its USB-C to USB cable, latest official firmware for your model and csc and the Factory Firmware tar for your phone and with correct bootloader rev (to know what's your current bl rev download "Phone Info ☆Samsung☆" app from Play Store and check your Bootloader version inside it, the bootloader rev is after the phone model number and fw country/type; ex. A530FXXU3):
- A530F Rev 1
- A530F Rev 2
- A530F Rev 3
- A730F Rev 1
- A730F Rev 2
- A730F Rev 3
If you downloaded and installed all the needed, do a backup of all your data and files, then follow those steps:
1. Boot your phone in Download mode
2. Open Odin3 as Administator, go in "Options" tab and enable Auto Reboot and Re-Partition, then click on the AP button and select the COMBINATION tar file you downloaded previously
3. Connect your phone to your pc and click the Start button in Odin3, flash should start
4. You phone now should boot in Factory Firmware. Select IMEI option at the bottom of the screen to bring up the dial pad, then dial *#243203855#
5. Select your new CSC code (in your case INS) and wait for it to install and reboot
6. Wait for phone to reboot and do a Factory Reset in Settings app
7. Reboot to Download mode again and setup Odin3 like before
8. You now need to flash your official firmware, so put all the tars from the firmware you downloaded on their section (AP inside AP, BL inside BL, CP inside CP and CSC inside CSC)
9. Connect back your phone in your pc and click Start in Odin3
Your phone should now be back to the Stock Firmware and with the correct CSC set, to check it go inside Settings>About phone>Software info>Service provider SW ver. and check if the first CSC sales code matches the one you choosen previously.
Greetings!

You can try to flash A530F AP, BL, CP tars with A730F INS CSC tar. If it doesn't works you unfortunately need to root your device to install the correct csc in system (the guide I explained before is for non-rooted devices)

It's like one month we are behind it actually lol, but since recently you can finally root safely your device with flashing my TWRP 3.2.3+Magisk v17.1. Would suggest to flash my custom kernel also (MCK), but I wanna suggest to wait till' next version comes out since there will be a lot of under-the-hood improvements over the current version (v1.2)

As I said previously, you need to set the correct CSC sales code in your device in order to get the features you need for your country/SIM. To do that you can follow the guide I wrote above or, if you're rooted, you just can edit the "/efs/imei/mps_code.dat" file and replace the current CSC with the one you prefer.

How To Guide Guide to root Galaxy S22 Ultra (B/E/N/0), unlock bootloader and flash official firmware (noob friendly)

Code:
Your warranty is now void.
If you root your device, Your KNOX status will be tripped.
You can still pass the safety net after you root if you follow the instructions.
Sorry for USA models, you can't root unless you can unlock your bootloader
You will lose ALL your data if you unlock your bootloader. Do back up your data.
I am not responsible for bricked devices, or dead SD cards although it is not possible
Please do some research if you have any concerns about doing this to your device
How to flash official firmware? (not the root and unlock bootloader part!)
You will need:
A Galaxy S22 Ultra and common sense
Samsung Odin (the flashing tool of the official firmware)
https://dl2018.sammobile.com/Odin3-v3.14.1.zip
You need to extract the zip file and you are going to use the file Odin3_v3.14.1.exe inside the folder.
Samsung Android USB Driver for Windows
Samsung Android USB Driver | Samsung Developers
You need the driver only if you are developing on Windows and want to connect a Samsung Android device to your development environment over USB.
developer.samsung.com
Double-click and install the exe file.
Optional: If you just want to change CSC, /efi/imei/mps_code.dat is where you can edit after rooting the phone
Replace the CSC you would like to be in the file
If you like to download the firmware of your carrier, follow the instructions bellow
Release 1.0.3 · zacharee/SamloaderKotlin

Download the platform you want to download to. (Windows)
You need to extract the zip and double-click open the file Bifrost.exe inside the folder.
You need to fill in the Model, and Region, press the Check for Updates button and the Download button.
How to find the Model: on your phone → Settings → About Phone → The third row says the Model number and you need to remove the part with the part of /xx, for example, SM-S908B/DS and you only need to type SM-S908B
How to find the Region: You can check the Region at this link https://samfrew.com/model/SM-S908B/
You need to find find a three-letter word depending on your carrier and country and type it in Bifrost, for example, EVR
Press the Check for Update button and download it with the Download button.
Put it to a place you can easily find, ie. Desktop.
After downloading it, find the file SM-xxxxx_x_xxxxxxxx_xxx.zip.enc4 on the place you put it and change the document format from .enc4 to .zip. Then, double-click and extract the file.
Open Odin3_v3.14.1.exe and turn off your phone. Connect a side of your USB to your PC/Laptop, and keep pressing volume up and down together until you go to Download Mode. Put another side of the USB into your phone. When you arrive at Download Mode press volume up. Go back to Odin3_v3.14.1.exe:
-Click on BL and select BL_xxxxxxxxxx.tar.md5
-Click on AP and select AP_xxxxxxxxxxx.tar.md5
-Click on CP and select CP_xxxxxxxxxx.tar.md5
-Click on CSC and select CSC_OMC_xxxxxxxxxx.tar.md5
Optional: add PIT file if you have to repartition.
Press Start to flash the firmware, after that is done, your device will automatically reboot to the system.
How to unlock the bootloader?
Go to your phone → Settings → About Phone → Software information → Press Build number 6 times until you see the notice “You’re now a developer”

-Click on CSC and select CSC_OMC_xxxxxxxxxx.tar.md5
Optional again: add PIT file if you have to repartition
When it finishes flashing, it will automatically reboot and you can gain root access.
Optional: If you want to have the safety net passed (most of the banking apps use it), then you need to install the zip
as a Magisk module in Magisk https://github.com/kdrag0n/safetynet-fix/releases
How? Go to Magisk → Modules → install from storage and select the zip you downloaded.
How to update the system without losing roots and data?
Download the new firmware of the phone and update the Magisk App if it is not up to date. Unzip the firmware you download and transfer the AP file to your phone. Patch your AP file and transfer it back to your PC (in /sdcard/Download)
Power off the phone and reboot to Download mode
Open Odin and put the new magisk_patched file in the AP slot, the BL and CP from your new firmware into their respective slots and importantly *HOME_CSC* into the CSC slot.
Press start and let Odin do its stuff.
When flashed, do not wipe.
Press and hold Vol-down and Power
As soon as the screen appears, let go of all buttons.
Within moments without any further user intervention your phone will reboot into your updated Magisk rooted mode, data intact.

you won't likely brick your device because I have taken a look and both devices are identical. So, I think it is fine to flash

This is great! Thanks ! Because XID ( Indonesian) firmware supports fully native call recording. Samsung's OTA updates are also available every month.

I just made a research to the internet and I found that SM-S908E is probably different variant from SM-S908B .
SM-S908E is a snapdragon edition while SM-S908B is Exynos.
So , I think I cannot flash XID firmware for snapdragon edition to an Exynos version
I'm sad now

Oh, sorry. I haven't noticed about the SoC. The SoC in Europe is Snapdragon. So I don't think you should change it.
If you just want to change CSC, /efi/imei/mps_code.dat is where you can edit. Both firmware is the same except the CSC, no difference between them
My preordered s22u will come with snapdragon (sm-s9080 BRI ), I will use CHC csc, also like to have call recording.

Looks like Samsung changed some things there. XID firmware was available for flashing to my ex - S21 ultra . Now , in S22 ultra, I see different types of regions (SM-S908E and SM-S908B).

S908E = snapdragon
S908B = exynos
Some countries have both version listed, you needs to to download one according your device
You can check about phone model number to see which one you own
