Hello,
I am wondering which launcher are you all using?
I am waiting for the arrival of my new 1+6 and I am preparing for it.
One major question is about the launcher. On my current phone (Redmi Note 4) I use Nova. Is Nova the best to use for the 1+6?
Please share: what are you using and why?
THank you!
"Nova Launcher prime" is the best, the most flexible and not that slow.
but would be nice to find something more optimized with open source and with exact or even more settings and features.
so far not any launchers that I tried have near close amount of features and options.
and those features all about user interface.
I'm using a factory launcher. It's nice and fast. The only thing I miss is to sort the application in the drawer differently than alphabetically.

After several years I switched from Nova to Total Launcher. I think this launcher has a lot more options than Nova, but it's a little more difficult to learn.
Nova Prime on all my previous phones except this one..I use stock OnePlus launcher

Action Launcher, Baby. All day long. Better than NOVA.
Used Nova on all my phone's, but I'm using stock for this one, super fast.

Me too.
Been using Nova for years because of the flexibility. Tried OP Launcher but switched after a day or two.
Lawnchair launcher is the one for me. It's freaking fast on every device I have used it on. No lag. It's like the pixel launcher but a wee bit more customizable. Plus it allows me to over ride the OS shaped icons bullcrap and just just the icons natively which is how I like it

I feel the OnePlus launcher has come quiet far in terms of performance in the last couple of updates, didn't enjoy it on my 3t but it's a different beast now, only thing I miss is have more rows & columns - but that's all.
Lean Launcher. Moved from Nova and its really great.

Thank you all, very helpful!
just received my op6 today, i'm so frustrated because double tap to sleep only works great at OnePlus Laucher (i'm not using navigation buttons and can't enable double tap to sleep on nav buttons).
always used nova prime, but nov screen lock gesture isn't good as default double tap to sleep.
any tip?

Are you rooted if so you can use the root method for scree off gesture on Nova. Though I used to couple nova with xposed Edge which gives vast capabilities

Until my previous phone, I put Nova Launcher but for this one, I'll try to get used to the stock launcher.

I am using ruthless launcher here from xda and it has double tap to sleep and looks very much like the pixel launcher with custom icon support and a whole lot more.

Ruthless launcher is my default for the foreseeable future.

Download NovaLauncher. It's the best launcher app I have ever used. It builds upon the regular Ice Cream Sandwich launcher and is just about perfect to me.
If you dont like it can you just un-install it and everything will go back to the way it was before?

The launcher cannot be uninstalled. You're just using a 3rd party one. The 3rd part one can be uninstalled and it will revert back to the Sense launcher
I have found apex to be much better on my gs2. I am content with Rosie for now.

I'm using Apex
This is the first time Ive used Sense... well I used the first generation of it back when it was TouchFlo3D. I actually like it. Much better than TouchWiz.
The only downside is no sense widgets.

i tried all 3
i think i like Go launcher the best
I find Go Launcher to be so ugly. I prefer Apex a lot more and I'll be putting it on my One X as soon as it arrives.
I prefer Nova over all because it's a ICS themed launcher. That's the deal breaker to me.

what do you think apex is?
and it doesnt require you to buy an upgrade to get full use out of it....

lol, I will check it out though for sure. I apologize for my ignorance.
EDIT: Nova and Apex both have you pay to get basically the same features, at the same price. lol.

This! APEX is better overall than Nova... AND ITS COMPLETELY FREE.
*Nova Launcher Prime Features (Paid version)*
Drawer Groups:
Folders in App Drawer
Unlimited custom tabs
Gestures
Quickly start Nova Actions or Apps from gestures on the desktop, such as pinching, swiping or two-finger swiping.
Hide Apps
Keep a clutter free drawer by hidding never used apps.
Dock Swipes
Get more use out of your dock apps by setting swipe-actions
Apex Launcher Pro (Paid Version) Features:
- Multiple configurable drawer tabs
- Unread count notifications
- Dock swipe gestures
- Two finger gestures
- More transition effects
- Batch add option for folders
- Option to merge folder contents
- Widgets in dock (1x1 only)
- Overlapping widgets
- More features on the way!
They share some features only available in the pro version, but I think I am indeed going to try Apex as it seems the general consensus is that it's better xD

except, its an OUT OF THE WAY upgrade. if i try to add something to my homescreen or make changes, it doesnt tell me 'sorry, you have to pay money to get that feature'
the 'pro' features arent teased in the launcher like nova
thats why i prefer apex over nova. its not in my face to buy it.....(not that i dont support devs, but i have no use for those features)
That's a very reasonable opinion. lol. I'm getting Apex all set up right now just to see. I understand what yo mean with the in yo face kinda deal.
I've used both Apex and Nova on previous ICS phones. I'll be sticking with the Sense launcher until we have an AOSP based build

to be completely honest, i didnt even know APEX had a pro version until you said something....i definitely like that fact. LMAO
I basically just love this phone to death completely. No matter what launcher. but I will love it more when i have AOSP, AOKP, or MIUI on it.
Hey guys, I'm about to buy the Huawei Mate 8 and I was wondering; If I install Nova Launcher (and personalize to my preferences the phone - I want all my apps in a place, not in the homescreen), does it remove some important functionality? I mean, I want to use the fingerprint scanner and the camera app, I haven't used an Android phone for about 2 years or more so that's why I'm asking things that you might find obvious.
Thanks for your help :good: .
No Problem, I'm using currently Nova Launcher on the device. Everything working fine
Only "problem" I've seen (doesn't bother me as I don't use it) is using the dual window launcher. You can split the screen from within a compatible app but not from the Nova launcher. Other than that all other functions are normal for me, been using Nova launcher since day one with my Mate 8

Oh that's amazing, last question: Can you use the app to give permision to others apps to work in background and to save battery? I've read that the Mate 8 has a great app management and also battery saving mode so that makes me curious.
Thanks for your help man.
yep, the app u mean is phone manager and it works just fine with nova launcher

Is it possible to remove the date and weather area on the pixel 2 home screen? It takes up a full row!
I also want this defeated.. maybe via substratum???
Nope, you will need to switch to another launcher, like Nova.
Nova has been sluggish for me. I'm not sure why.

Yeah that's odd. Nova has been perfect for me. @upperbladez There's also Lawn Chair Launcher on XDA that's a modified Pixel Launcher. You could try that. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/lawnchair-customizable-pixel-launcher-t3627137

I haven't tried that one. Personally I use Nova and have been for years. It's always been stellar for me.
My main complaints with Pixel Launcher was that clock app as well as the inability to remove the Google bar at the bottom. I took people's recommendations here and tried Nova Launcher. No complaints...I even decided to pay for Nova Prime so I could enable the gestures and love the 2-tap screen off, using the home button to launch settings, and the swipe down to pull the quick settings. I haven't noticed any notable lag and it doesn't appear to use that much more memory than the Pixel launcher did.
Second Nova. I bought the full version years ago, and it's fantastic.
Well I've been using Nova for years with prime. It's my go to launcher. But lately for some reason. After a day or two. There's this Nast y stutter when I open apps. When I use pixel launcher, it's smooth like it's supposed to be. Even if I close the app and open it right after it still does it. Those things bug me..lol no oun intended. So I'm just waiting for the next update. I was gonna set it up right now without the beta. I'll report back.
Anyone know a launcher which will hide the navbar. I know lineage OS has the option to hide status and/or navbar.. I don't feel like using the adb hack to go immersive mode, would be nice if a launcher offered the option
I wonder if they'll allow you to remove it in Android P. Some things they do are so illogical I don't get it.

I have DP-3 and it is still there. Things will change with the final 9.0 release but it looks like this is here to stay.
Lol why do they do that? I don't understand
Is this still unale to be removed on android 9? I need to update but have to root it so I'm being lazy.
It's there permanently by default, though of course there are many apps that allow you to toggle immersive mode without root so if you want to hide it it's very simple to do so.
I love the pixel Launcher but i want to try something different ,always use Nova but ITS unestable .
Any recomendation?
I use evie Launcher, only 2 bugs already spotted.

Unstable? Hardly. Been using Nova Prime since day 1 (late Aug) on this device with both A10 and A11. As have many others. Look closer to home for a fix to the (your device config) stability issue.
Nova here too, no issues other than maybe one in 10 days the Google Feed background changes to white. Restarting Nova fixes it for another week or two.
Sent from my Pixel 4a using XDA Labs
Nova here, too. I have never experienced instability.
Nova is king. I've had Nova on all of my phones going back to the Note 2 quite some time ago. I'm actually holding off on installing it this time around on my P4a and trying to get used to stock.
I used Nova for years but going back to the Pixel I been trying the native launcher.
I like it, but I can not resize or skin icons and for this reason may go back to Nova Launcher.
Lawnchair 2 is my recommendation. Very similar to Pixel Launcher, but customisable and free.
Although no update for nearly a year could be an issue for some.
Square Home if you like the look of windows mobile.
I have been using Microsoft Launcher. Love that the apps are grouped alphabetic by letter. If Nova could do that I'll switch to Nova though.

Not well suited to Android 10+ navigation metaphor; increasing number of unresolved issues; not updated since late 2019. Launcher (like underlying device/os/rom) should not be a focal point.
I use the beta version of lawnchair2. No issues.
In the past was NOVA Prime. Not sure why I switched, but these are my top 2 go to's.
hello,
i use nova launcher and have an issue:
when i do the upswipe to leave an app and want to open another one after that then sometimes i have a stutter, as if the launcher did a little restart.
do you have this too?
kind regards

Haven't see that (yet). Might be app and/or device config specific.
I got Smart Launcher 5.5 on my Pixel 4a
No Problems so far.
Can someone do this setup and give steps here please...
Hi Guys
just for try some home/launcher, which Launcher do you use it, alternatively to samsung Home?
now i try PocoLauncher, its fast and light, but don't have, on the left of display, the google page!
thanks
I use Nova Launcher have done so on every phone I have had since I can remember!
I've used the stock one that comes with the phone for a few weeks and now on Nova. Tbh Samsungs one UI is actually ntb. I would recommend trying theirs before you get Nova and dedicate a bunch of time to customizing.
I use Niagara launcher because it's simple and for a tall phone it makes it easier to navigate through my apps
Smart Launcher 5. I used TSF Shell until it cost too much battery to justify the aesthetics. Nova and friends always felt clunky and sloppy.
TSF launcher even though development stopped 4 years ago, everything still works fine for me and love the smoothest of swiping screens.
Nova 7. Simply great.
Nova since S2 as far as I remember
Nova.
I use it on all Android phones since a few years ago.
now i try Lawnchair2, its very good, but yes Nova its the best for me too.
I use Ruthless Launcher it´s free, works well with gestures, has a google feed plugin and double tap to lock works well oh and Icon pack support as well
Microsoft Launcher for about five years now.

I am also using Ruthless but with navigation buttons. How do you get it to work properly with gestures? Both Nova and Ruthless give me redraws of the homescreen when I come home via gesture and try to interact fast with another app.
One UI as the others don't work well with gestures...as above Nova gives me redraws.

Welcome to 2021. I'm glad you could join us.
I use "Square Launcher" on every Android Device i had the last few years. Best!
Also been using Nova Launcher Prime since it was released. Never had a problem with it.
I use Nova or Lawnchair 2 .... are similar and very good... I prefer Lawnchair for the dock bar with 2 rows that i like much. Both can use Google Feed on left page.
I'm also a nova user for so long now.
