[Q] On custom ROMS for the 925P (or the lack of them) - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Hey there -
I'm having a lot of trouble finding ROMS that work for this device, right now I have Renegade ROM with the dirty kernel, it works.
Are there any AOSP or anything close to that anywhere? Thats what I really want something fast and good on battery.
Any tips appreciated!

Custom Kernel

I'm thinking of installing a custom kernel (elementalX) but I'm not interested in overclocking it or anything like that, so I'd be running it on vanilla settings. My question is that is there any point in flashing a custom kernel in this case? Will I benefit from installing it (maybe the phone will run a bit smoother, better battery life, etc) or will I just be creating more potential issues?
Currently running LibertyROM (4.4.2 KitKat, Sense 6) with whatever kernel it came with.
bump!
oh c'mon. is it really that stupid of a question?

Advice for new Rom (XT1039 Peregrine)

Hi,
I know that this is going to be a very subjective question, but can anyone suggest a super slick Rom for my Motorola 4G LTE?
I tried CyanogenMod but did not fair to well with it - some lag and increased battery usage.
I really need something super lightweight and prefer function over nice looks.
It seems that three of the best contenders for this phone are Carbon, Paranoid Android and SlimKat - can anyone perhaps point me the direction of which one to use (or indeed suggest anything even better)?
Thanks very much.

roms which you suggested above their, development has been stopped mostly or has been inactive for 9-10 months. You may try Resurrection Remix rom .

If you find there is lag or battery drain flash hurtsky kernel

CM 12.1 is very slim, if you just use the smallest package for gapps.
greetings
Thank you both for that - I might have to try both suggestions and see which works best for me. (I am currently using CM 13, which might be the reason I am having problems).
It is very interesting that abhi0502 has mentioned flashing the Kernel - this is something I was not even aware of until now.
How does flashing a Kernel and flashing the ROM tie in with each other? I always thought that a new ROM would automatically provide its own version of the kernel.

yes it has own kernel but if battery and performance is not good as expected you can flash kernel (that is the reason i have rooted the phone.) You can flash kernel with cm13 currently and see if performance improves. But its always recommend for clean flash (Rom+kernel+gapps) to avoid errors
Just wanted to pop back on here and say thanks for the advice above.
I did try flashing the kernel as suggested but it kept causing my phone to randomly reboot - although it did not work well for me on this particular occasion, I shall definitely start experimenting with other kernel's in the future.
As suggested I wiped and reinstalled Resurrection Remix with the smallest version of gapps and not only is my phone massively more responsive, but the battery improvements are really noticeable.
Thanks again.

Learning to modify ROM/Kernel from Samsung Galaxy Tab Active SM-T365

Hey, i got a little project right here. It's important to say that i have knowledge in this kind of stuff but i never messed around with it except from installing roms on my phone.
I have to modify my self a ROM and kernel from android stock ROM (lets say Lollipop 5.1.1).
I need to do stuff like disabling the SD/Bluetooth /WI-FI in the kernel and comping a new ROM. Can someone here send me to the right places to learn how can i achieve this?
Thanks in advance.

SGH-T779/espresso10tmo/HELP

Are there any roms, at all, that will bump the OS on this? nothing works anymore (netlix, pandora, etc) due to fact that I'm stuck on 4.0,4 and would love to see some type of AOSP minimalist if possible.
Can gt-p51xx be flashed without issues (other than no GSM capabilities)
would someone be so kind to point me somewhere i can get some information about this?
My device: SGH-T779
I've gotten as far as root.
Different hardware, don't try P31xx or P51xx ROMs or kernel, this would brick your device.
Afaik there have never been a lot development for your variant, depends on those who own such a device to have custom ROM support or not.
i just want to say thanks for making it easier to find roms for my tab 2 10.1 (P5100)
this link was a life saver http://andi34.github.io/
do you have a suggestion on which rom is more stability wise. ones again thank you soo much

How do people make custom roms from stock roms, as opposed to AOSP?

Hey everyone, not sure if this is the right place for this, but I hope someone can help me.
I've always loved custom roms which take a stock manufacturers image and add fixes or tweaks. I love roms such as Fulmics for the LG G3.
Now that I've got quite a few phones hanging around in the drawer, I'd really like to try my hand at taking a stock image and modifying it to my heart's content. However whenever I've looked into this, I've gotten a bit lost and mostly ran into guides talking about compiling AOSP.
Does anyone have any guides or tools which can help me modify stock roms (such as LG or Nokia)?
If a phone's Android OS ( aka Stock ROM ) is rooted then it can get changed in any way according to user's wishes.
