Create a native Mobile App that collect surveys with pictures then send to a server o - Android Apps and Games

Hello experts!
I am looking for guidelines and where to start in creating a native mobile app that has a collection of questions
Example:
1. Engineer name
Text box:
2. Site name?
Text box
Picture of site access:
Picture ( choice of Galery or Camera)
3. Is site accessible with 2x4 vehicle?
Check box
Yes
No - if no selected then a check box appear and request more information
4. Etc...
5. E-mail to send to engineering?
Text box which will submit the email. Need probably to link to an email server?
I think this explain the project. At the end of the questionnaire the mobile user would have to hit submit and the info will be submitted to a web or cloud server.
I’ve started to install Apache (LAMP) and start something on adobe phonegap but I think I am going all over the place and not on the right direction.
What should I focus on and steps.
1. First step
2. Second step
3. Third ....
4.
Sorry I am a real beginner but I don’t mind to spend countless hours instead to use the ones available like form builder , fastfield, Zoho. Etc... i’d Like to try to host it on my private server at home on private network first, then will try something bigger, but for my personal experience I really want to make it work.
Thanks
Sylvain

Since you are using the forum to promote your business (related as it may be) I hope you are ready for some criticism.
Your survey doesn't cover this so I'll post it here.
1) How secure is this application? You open up access to peoples PCs over the internet and I assume you use login + password (not just the URL) but do you encrypt traffic etc? I found no mention of this on your site.
2) 30 euro is a pretty steep price for an app that does about half of what other free solutions offer in this filed. Take LogMeIn for example - it gives you full control or Orb for video streaming.
3) Continuing the previous it seems that your app only allows delivery of content but not actually managing it on the PC or uploading it back to PC.
(or did I miss something)
All in all I have to say its not a bad idea but 'undercooked' and over priced in my opinion.
Best of luck with your buisness anyway.
Levenum,
Thanks for your response. We are open for all criticism, it is exactly the purpose of this survey (and not the implied promotion, which is nice ).
In response to your questions:
1. If so desired you can use a login & password combination. Your login name is related to your IMEI number. You can set up a four digit pin code as password. We do not send out the URLs to other people. If you would like to share your files we send out copies by email.
All traffic is secured.
2. We take your advice into consideration.
3. We are working on a new website which provides visitors with more information. Just one question. What do you exactly mean by 'managing it on the PC'? Delete, move, print and more of these options or something else altogether?
Yes, moving / deleting / renaming files and generally organizing your media on the PC by remote is what I meant.
Also lets say I just recorded a video clip or taken a picture with my phones camera, can I use your app to upload it to my PC? (This would be useful for people traveling as they can not sync the device and might run out of storage space)

Hi, Levenum
Mobile Media Center currently does not support uploading files from mobile devices, I think we will come up a solution very soon.

It sounds like a nice offer, but why they are asking for my phone serial number? somehow I really don't feel safe to give the number away.
IMEI Number is used for issuing licenses, meaning, this software can be legally used on your mobile phone.
24access, it would be nice if you can give the technical details on how this works. From what I've read, it seems that you install a software onto the PC, which act as a 'backdoor'/server which gives you/MMC access to the file contents. So, it seems like
"My PC" ---> "MMC Center" ---> "My phone"
As what I can see, there are 2 possible 'holes'. One is at "My PC", which some one may able to have the MMC-software-installed-on-MyPC security compromised. And, another one would be at your "MMC Center" which seems to be collecting files from all over the place, and possibly be compromised credit card center?
I would understand that it is in user's convenience NOT to have software installed on their phone. However, it is also in user's consideration on the possibility that this "MMC Center" may have access to all their file contents. And at the final end of the process, since there are no software required on the phone, what sort of secure line are you using? SSL via HTTPS?
ANYWAY, sorry for being a bored. It's a job thing, as being a computer science guy, we have these natural ability to find things which most users won't probably even consider (e.g. the unsecure emails people use everyday).
And yes, people won't be very happy giving out their IMEI number. You might want to try another method.

University eVarsity App Help

Hello everyone,
I am new to this Android App Development. I am learning Android App Development from thenewboston channel on YouTube.
So, I want to create an app for my University. They have an online portal where a student logs in to check his attendance, time table, cycle test marks, etc. But the site doesn't have a mobile site. So, instead of creating the same, I directly want to create an app. But I don't want the app to just login and have the interface like in comp. I want it to be different. Just like a mobile site sort of.
1) This is how the login page is when we visit the link. i,imgur,com/sKg9E.png
I want my app to have just the login ID and password field. Not the other bunch of crap given or the header or footer.
2) This is how it is after we login. i,imgur,com/Jaavw.png
But in my app, I want it to give options whether to see the profile or cycle test marks or attendance or any other thing so that the user
chooses what he wants to see and view it accordingly.
3) This is how the attendance screen looks. I don't want any sidebar or info bar like it shows in the screen shot. i,imgur,com/twgGy.png
I want my app to have a fit-to-screen attendance view and to keep updating as the university keeps updating. Also below you can see
cumulative attendance bar, I want that to be there because that shows which day, month, one has missed his class. Same thing for cycle
test marks, credits/grades obtained in previous semester, feedback, etc. "ankur218,imgur,com" (replace comma with full stop to visit the links)
Now, these are the following queries I have and I need help with the same since I am new to this.
1) Can I create the app like I mentioned without creating a mobile site?
2) Do I have to get University's permission for the database access for id and password credentials and then change the in app interface?
Any other suggestions are welcome
Thank you
Cheers
^_^

Basic N00b advice needed

First, I hope this is the right place where I am posting the question. I am in the fire service and I would like to create an app for droid, that would read a basic text message and display a lookup information from a xls document For instance, the text message would display the address for a call. The app would use the information from the text and display a map page number and a short text phrase (running route to the address). I.e the text message says : House Fire: 101 Main Street. The app would look up that address in the excel document, and display the attached information, which would be 101 Main street: Left of Central Ave, Right on Martin Ave: Map 305. Any ideas on where to start? Or maybe app like this exists already? Thanks in advance!
Hi, it's a very broad question so it is very hard to answer. The answer depends on so many factors:
- Do you have any experience programming?
- Have you experience designing/developing mobile applications?
- Do you specifically need to use xls documents? (what you want is better suited to use built-in maps app. i.e. take the text from the text message, parse it a bit for keywords if you want different actions to be keyed in on, and then pass a search string to the maps app).
If you have no experience with developing mobile apps, I'd suggest going to google and searching for simple mobile development languages and frameworks. Stick to ones which use scripting languages. Or you can go to freelance websites and pay someone to make such an app for you. If its very simple, they shouldn't charge you more than a couple hundred.

From what I am understanding here, you want something that will disperse Calls in the form of app alerts, with the two main purpose being alerting the recipient of the location, and also of the directions to said location... Yes?
to start with, figure out what exactly needs to be done and why and put it in writing
The first step would be to write down exactly what you're looking for this app to do and any other pertinent requirements (needs to work offline, speed requirements, hardware to support, etc.).
What you're describing so far sounds like a service provided by major online map providers such as Google, Bing, etc. If you have an address, you just key it in as a destination, and then if you have the fire station pre-filled in as your departure point, you'll get map directions generated right there. Is this what you're interested in? If so, then you can just open a browser when you receive a message and go to Google Maps or to the maps app directly from the phone and do it there.
If some of the details that you've provided are hard requirements (text message being an incoming SMS, .xls data store, precise data requirements, zero downtime tolerance, very fast response times, etc.) then the best place to start would be finding an acquaintance who can write phone apps (maybe some kid from a local high school or college?) and explain/show what you want done to them in detail and have them estimate how complex this work would be. After than you either hire that person to do the work or pressure them to do it for you as community service .
If you don't have the right people in your network or they're unwilling to do the hard lifting, then you should reach out to a contractor and have it done commercially. It's the same approach: explain what you need done exactly, then get an estimate, etc. Based on what you describe, it shouldn't be too complicated or expensive.
I don't recommend you do it on your own unless you have tons of free time and/or are specifically looking to learn how to write apps. You'll end up spending a lot more time than this project costs on the market, and if you're not really into it, it might seem quite frustrating for what seems like should be a very simple thing.

[Q] Newb framwork question.

I neve ever build an app (but have enough other experience) and i need some advice to point me in the right direction
I need to build a app which can do the following:
1) show a form with 5 Fields (Name - Adress)
2) on this form there is a button to take a picture.
When done: a save button is pressed and the picture is saved into a folder (upload) together with an xml file containing the field data.
These is also a submit button which connects to a server to send all the files in the upload folder.
(will be a small no commercial app for a few users)
Questions:
What framework would be best to use for something this small. (do I even need a framwork?)
Is there a way to create this for android and Iphone in one go?
Thanks in advance
Ron
Subscribed. I would like to see how people would do this so I can learn. I am needing to set up multiple forms for my app, and was thinking about including the ability to include images for users to keep track of things.
maybe use something like this :
appmakr.com
If you want to develop the app for Android and iOS, you can use Ionic and Cordova frameworks.
How much experience do you have with programming in general?
What languages if any are you familiar with?
What kinds of software have you built?
I would be able to guide you on the best way to proceed with this information.
Libgdx is a framework that you can use to make apps for android, ios, html5 and desktop at the same time. It's also free and open source.

[APP] Deposit and withdrawal for study exam

Hi all, first of all I would like to introduce myself as I am new to this site.
I am studying Mobile Software Development and as part of my Study I do have an project to complete that I am not sure how I should start with.
In project itself shouldn't be a big deal ( I hope), but I am not sure where I should start coding etc.
That app can be as simple as possible as I am not worrying about UI, but functionality.
To the point. I need to write an mobile app that will allow me deposit money from my bank account into the app and withdraw them back successfully.
I have made some project planning and the below are my concerns:
1. Application need to allow user to create Username and password to their account (username cannot be duplicated, e-mail address cannot be duplicated)
2. Which deposit method will be the best (paypal like or debit card based - including card details, owner name, security code and expiry date)
3. What kind of security should I use ( keep in mind that as project purpose this will not be released to the market, but in theory as Windows app this should get some security solutions from Windows Store, is this correct?)
4. Does any database need to be created?
4.1 If so, I believe this will require server solution installed.
I am asking this questions as fully working application even if will handle only myself as user will need to be supported by documentation explaining what, where, why and what for.
I hope that you will be able to give me some advices and this can become quite interesting thread.
I would like to thank you in advance for any help given.
