Get SIM card and upgrade to 5.11 before flashing? 925T

I have a Galaxy S6 Edge 925T Android version 5.02 and my provider is T-mobile.
Before installing custom ROM should I get a SIM card from T-mobile (mine is too big does not fit) and then upgrade my phone to Stock Android 5.11 via settings page.
OR
Skip going to t-Mobile and just install TWRP bootloader & modem to my stock 5.02. then flash my ROM (XXU2BOFJ V.2.0 Final Lollipop 5.1.1) Then bring my phone to t-Mobile and get a new SIM card.
Thank you

how to update verizon note 5 outside u.s without verizon sim card?

So my cousin bought me a note 5 Verizon model from U.S , the thing is I think I get "software update is temporary unavailable"issue. a quick google concluded that I need a Verizon sim to get OTA updates . I was wondering is there any way I could update it without a Verizon sim , since I could no way get a Verizon sim in the U.K
Thanks

Take your current sim out and try Samsung Smartswitch. Download the one for the PC or Mac and give it a try. If that doesn't work manually update with Odin using these files. You might be out of luck for the monthly security patches but it's not a huge deal as far as I'm concerned.

After install successful, you can upgrade it from there

ATT H950 - SIM Required for 5.1.1 OTA (after using unroot tool)?

Hey guys, I unrooted/restored my 5.0.1 stock with the unroot/restore tool - to get the 5.1.1 OTA for my ATT H950, do I need to use a SIM card or can I just use LG PC Suite without a SIM in the phone? My SIM is currently in another phone, so I am wondering if I need to switch it out to get 5.1.1.
I believe you need the att sim in to do OTA.

Will flashing my unlocked sm-g930t lock it?

I just purchased a Galaxy S7 SM-G930T online but I live in Canada and use the Koodo Network. I can put my Koodo sim in and it all works fine but I want to update it from 6.0.1 to Android 8, and it wont let me do it OTA if I dont have a T-Mobile sim. Can I download the stock T-Mobile Android 8 Firmware and flash it using Odin and still be able to use my Koodo sim or does flashing the stock firmware lock the phone?
Thanks
