I can take no credit for the work, only for the instructions on how to install and set to English language and the guts to try installing relying only on translation sites from the original Chinese. The credit for the work goes to the people at zn520 (www (dot) zn520 (dot) com).
NOTE: This ROM is intended for Chinese users but includes English. When you complete the update, you will need to make changes (which I documented) to configure it for English. No other languages are part of the build.
**** I take no responsibility if you brick your device *****
What is in the ROM?
Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard
CE OS 5.2.20758 (Build 20758.1.4.1) Build 2010.01.18,py8
Available Memory: 23.67MB
This is a very clean ROM with only a few of the original Samsung applications configured.
What works?
As far as I have found, everything works, here is what I have tested and found working.
Camera - Works well
Data Connectivity - Works well
Phone - Works well, very clear in calls
SMS - Works well
MMS - Appears to be installed but *** I have not tested ***
Summary
This ROM breathes new life into the device and makes it very useable. I have found no problems (other than the occaisional Chinese text). It has been very stable. Many of us have probably moved on to new device, but if you have an i320n sitting around, I would recommend you consider the upgrade. I am sure others will post their experience.
Accessing the ROM:
I don't have an account with any file sharing service and I now live in Zambia with slow Internet access. If someone is willing to upload it, please do and share the link with me for inclusion here.

**** Installation instructions included in next post.
Flashing Instructions
This has only been tested on Windows XP, it may work on others, but I have not tested.
1. Unzip file ZN520_[i320]WM6.1.zip
2. Run Setup.exe from ‘Driver’ folder to install drivers needed to recognize the device in bootloader mode. (You may be prompted that the drivers are not digitally signed, accept them.) Upon setup completion, you should get a message "SAMSUNG MIT Handset Software was installed successfully"
3. Restart the computer
4. Execute ClickFlash V0.3.exe (It will read the click_all.lst file for the location and name of the image)
5. With the phone off, connect the phone to the computer via USB cable
6. Hold down the 'Back' button (under the right soft key) and power on the phone with the 'Back' button still held in.
7. Phone should show "MITS - Mobile Internet Terminal" and go no further. If it boots fully, turn it off and repeat.
8. Check the status of ClickFlash, it should show "Device Connected!" and the Blackjack.BIN file should be selected (or click_all.lst which points it to the BIN file).
At this point the device is ready to be flashed...
9. Click on the icon that shows the red arrow pointing toward the device to begin flash.
You will see the progress bar as the file is downloaded to the device. Don't disconnect the device until you see the message "Download Successfully! Bye!" (It may take a while (8 to 10 minutes) with no indication anything is happening… be patient.
10. At this point the device will restart and will format itself then boot. Booting may take a while. Upon completion of boot, don't touch the device as it will automatically install additional software and restart itself.
11. It should now boot to a blue home screen. Congratulations, you have successfully flashed the device.
For instructions for changing it to English, see next post.
Configuring for English
At this point, you have a fully functioning device but in Chinese. If you want to fumble through trying to change it to English, have fun. If you want step by step instructions with screen shots to guide you, download the attachment.
FAQ
FAQ
Why do I still see some evidence of Chinese?
Not all applications installed in the ROM were Chinese/English capable (CeleTask for example). I wrote a short MortScript to automatically remove these applications or change links to English functions. Download 'Remove traces of Chinese.zip' (below) and follow instructions contained within.
Reserved for known issues (hoping someone can solve)
Text Input Method - The text input is set to Chinese with an option to use English, so it is workable. However the input UI is in Chinese and it isn't obvious to the use what options to choose. Is it possible to replace the default text input without having access to the actual ROM? If so, can someone point me to a resource?
Success? Any issues?
I have noticed that several people have downloaded and wanted to get feedback on the process and documentation.
Were there any issues in flashing the device?
Any errors or omissions in the documentation?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Jonathan
downloaded over 10 times. Error... I would like to test this on my phone. Would it be any chance to get zip to somewhere a download.

Upload
As I mentioned in the original post, I now live in Zambia which was recently ranked as the worst Internet access in the world. I can upload again, but I would really appreciate some guidance as to where I can upload it that it won't limit the number of downloads.
Thanks,
Jonathan
Would some nonsense account to gmail and google docs share be a solution? Torrent might also be possible? Someone who has already downloaded a file could share it.
The best free service for what I found ... But I have not used ever.

Uploaded to another service
FYI - I uploaded the file last night to a new service that doesn't appear to have any limits (other than erasing the file 90 days after the last access). I have updated the first post with the location. Please download and provide some feedback. Obviously 10 people have downloaded but no one has posted on their experience with it.

Very good job! Your instruction are OK.
My i320 is now with wm 6.1.
About the problem of IME and T9, I made a change in this registry key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409]
"Ime File"="\windows\et9ime.dll"
Because in original it was
"Ime File"="\Program Files\PlumSIP61\phoneime.dll"
and now when I press * the menu is in English!!!!
Bye
PS In the week-end I try to introduce the italian T9 dictionary.
Thanks =)
My i320n run correctly, just a hardware problem with the safe battery, it's down, the i320 don't keep the hour
This rom is fantastic! But...how to traslate this rom in italian?

The following is a reasonable format that is suggested when posting a ROM. We expect your ROM post to look somewhat professional and easy to understand.
1. Requirements (bootloader version, radio version etc)
2. State that it's from an official manufacturer or source base (stock ROM or AOSP-like source).
3. Thread shows a clear overview of changes made, in a way that users can see what has changed when new versions are updated.
4. Explicit installation instructions.
5. ROMs need to identify what kernel they are using. If 100% stock then they must state that.
6. If custom kernel you must provide a link to the kernel source. This is required by GPL. Stock (untouched) kernels can link to the manufacturers source (if available). If you use somebody's kernel, link to their source.
7. At least 2-4 images (screen-shots) 1 of which must be of system/device info. Do not use photo hosts thay deluge users with ads and popups when they select the image. You can either attach the images, or use a hosting service such as photo-bucket for example.
8. Links to downloads. A link to a direct download is preferred. Linking to external website home pages are not allowed, it must be linked to the Downloads page. Also use of "ad-driven" (adfly for example) or "commercial" sites are mostly not allowed. Registration on some sites "may" be allowed, but is subject to XDA Moderation approval.
9. Credits for sources used. Very important.
10. Keep your "asking for donations to a limit. You already have a "Donate" button.
Simply posting a link to some download site "here it is, download it", is not allowed.
Any questions, please feel free to contact any moderator.
Thank You

THE PROJECT IS ABANDONED
This ROM is for the AT&T SGH-I437 ONLY! It is NOT for the GT-I8730! Just because Samsung named them both "Express" does not mean they have identicle internal hardware!
My work is the continuation of jt1134’s. It’s basically his work. The things I had to fix (I still have to upload them :/ ) are very irrelevant compared to his work, for which I thank him.

Reporting Bugs
You are allowed to report bugs only in this thread and in my blog post as comments. Before reporting a bug, please make sure you are running as stock as possible. This means no custom kernel, no custom framework modification, etc. If you are using any of the above modifications, please flash the rom again to get rid of the modifications before reporting.
REPORT BUGS IN THIS THREAD ONLY OR IN MY BLOG POST.
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. The following is a useful format to follow.

Sorry guys, I didn't know about that policy. I had to change the link shortener. I decided to use adfly, which has less stupid policies and supports my work.
I hope you're OK with that.

Do not use the root fixer with cm. Reinstall the ROM and enable root from development settings like pandyag said. Root settings are now in appops (settings, privacy).
@davideddu96 the 5.0 runs smooth love it keep up the work I had it install about a day and no issues
I have a question about Heimdall. I've always used Odin before, but figured that I'd just go ahead and try to install using your exact instructions. Your TWRP comes as an .img file but Heimdall seems to want a tar.gz file. I gave a quick internet search and it seems like a pit file is needed to flash an .img?
I'm probably missing something, and I doubt that I'm the only one so some instructions on exactly how to flash your recovery using Heimdall might be useful not just to me. I'd hate to brick my phone messing around with pit files. I never needed one with Odin.
I have an older version of Clockwork Mod installed and I"m just going to go ahead and try to install using that. It should be ok, right?

Ok, here's how to do it with Heimdall (aren't there guides online?)
You boot your phone in download mode and connect it to the computer
Open heimdall, go to the utilities tab and download the pit to your computer (you only need to do it once, the next times you can use the same pit). Hit "save as", choose a path and a file name and then click "Download"
You may have to reboot your phone the hard way (take the battery out, put it back in) into download mode again after downloading PIT. My phone can only do one operation at a time for some reason
Now go to Flash, open the PIT you downloaded, press Add under partitions, select "RECOVERY" in the "Partition Name" menu and open the recovery image you got from my blog.
Hit flash!
If you have stock, make sure you don't let the phone reboot to Android or it will wipe your recovery! Either start holding Volume up and home while it's flashing, so that it will boot straight to recovery or take the battery out as soon as it's done.
EDIT: by the way yes, CWM should work, if it's not too old. TWRP is what I use and that's mainly why I advise you to use it: if you have an issue with it, chances are that I have it too, and you're going to save me from flashing your recovery to troubleshoot it.
A new build is online! The download link has already been updated: http://davideddu.org/blog/posts/cyanogenmod-12-for-expressatt/
From now on the first post title will have the last build release date at the beginning. This way, when you get a notification from XDA, you'll know at a glance if you have the latest version
Also, to save you from looking up the download links on Google, I've added a shortcut to the downloads in my homepage at http://davideddu.org . It's in the middle of the page, at the end of the first white box
I also posted a more complete, step-by-step guide on how to flash recoveries with Heimdall using both the GUI and the command line (which I definitely prefer).

Thanks.
It was the pit file that bothered me. I puzzled my way through the controls and gathered that that was how to do it, but I wanted confirmation who'd done exactly that thing to this particular phone because... well... you know, sometimes things don't always work the same. Plus, I figured that I'd probably not be the only one with some questions in this regard, so I'd be the fall guy.
Went ahead and installed with the older CWM recovery and all is working fine as of now. I noticed some passing comment in the other thread that Google Maps didn't work, but it works fine with me.

I'm having issues downloading the new build. It downloads a 0 kb file.
Also, does this have the new kernel you mentioned?
Use flashify to do recovery u can get it in market
Sorry for the download issue, the ROM has been uploaded but it has not been copied to the mirror.
I'm working on it.
EDIT: I just contacted the technical support and I'm waiting for an answer. The previous build is still available, however; you can get it from here.
Yes, it's including the most recent kernel.
I don't have issues with Google Maps either.

I got back from the technical support and I've been told it's all regular. As it's a big file, its upload to the mirrors is being delayed. Please check again in a few hours. I'm sorry for the issue, I wasn't aware of this policy.
EDIT: I just checked again and the file is in the process of being uploaded. Just wait for ~30 minutes and you should be able to get it.
EDIT2: The file has been uploaded. It is now downloadable.
As I said in the previous answer, yes it does have the new kernel, which means I didn't have to patch the installer. You can turn back on signature checking if you turned it off.
Thanks for the ROM
Hi David, thanks for the love you are giving for this device, anyways I can't download the rom, maybe can you upload it anywhere else? The webpage is not opening so maybe try dev-host as its the best.

Try to turn off AdBlock; that's probably why you can't get to the downloads. I decided to route them through AdFly because it takes a lot of electricity to build the ROMs (it takes around 6 hours during which I'm not home and the computer is running, hotter than an oven with the fans that sound like a vacuum cleaner). If it still doesn't work for you, you can find a direct link right below the standard links, after the bulleted list. You don't have to, but I would appreciate it if you would add an exception to your ad blocker for "davideddu.org" and "go.davideddu.org"
I tested the downloads yesterday and they are working.
Let me know if you still have issues with the downloads, so that I can contact my hosting provider!
EDIT: I just tested the download links and they work fine. Let me know if you still have issues. Have a nice day

Adfly doesn't works in India.
Sent from my SM-G900H using XDA Free mobile app
I've been banging my head about this one for a couple of years across several Windows installations including 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 at home on two PCs and Windows XP (I think) and 7 at work, on multiple laptops, and taking place in both Chrome and Internet Explorer 9, 10 and 11. I have Edge uninstalled in Windows 10 so I can't test that at the moment. I forget what result I had with Firefox, but I'll probably reinstall it to find out.
It's most annoying when editing an OP but whether with an OP or regular post, I've occasionally worked around the problem by keeping a "master" copy of the post in Notepad++ on Windows, editing that, then copying and pasting that to my post edit. This only works when I either already have a current master copy in Notepad++, or can manage to retrieve an uncorrupted copy which is sometimes difficult when the problem happens in all my currently installed programs.
The problem also occurs when editing a DevDB project in both Chrome and Internet Explorer.
The problem happens most frequently in Chrome so my most common solution was to temporarily switch to Internet Explorer, but right now even IE is giving the same result.
I'm very good at searching and I've tried searching both Google and XDA with different sets of search terms and I don't find anything even remotely similar.
For example, the following correct text:
Code:

If this were only happening in Chrome, I would suspect an extension. I've had the problem happen on completely new and clean installations of Windows as well.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
FYI now really weird, even this post didn't come out right on the initial posting. I'll probably be forced to give screenshots when I have time later.
