I wish to gain root access on my phone (Sony D2212), but I do not wish to flash a custom ROM like Nitrogen or CM11 because I like the appearance of the stock ROM better. However I have a custom recovery ROM (TWRP) installed.
Can this be done? It it possible to gain root access within the stock ROM?

This is odd. I believe I no longer have root privileges after flashing in the 4.2 ROM from Metal Dragon. I manage to get to stock recovery and do a wipe and reflash a custom ROM (SlimBean). However I have no root privileges anymore. Can anyone help?

That's normal, knzo warned that the rom wasn't rooted.
From within a custom recovery, simply flash either SuperUser or SuperSU (my favorite).
SuperSU
Download and flash CWM-SuperSU-v0.98.zip
SuperUser
Download and flash Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip
Is it all possible for a custom recovery to hamper performance within any given ROM? Currently I am running stock rooted with the stock recovery
Hello? I was recently s-off, unlocked and using Adrenaline sense 6 lollipop rom.
Yesterday, I went back to stock 4.4.4 using the ruu file. I still have the s-off and unlocked.
Now my questions are..
1. Can I install custom recovery first then root by using supersu.zip file?
2. Or do I need to root first by weaksauce or something then get custom recovery?
You can go straight to installing a custom recovery. From there you can either flash the su binaries to achieve pure stock rooted rom or you could flash any one of the custom roms available which are pre-rooted.
hello developers ,
is it possible to release a stock rom which is rooted and can be flashed just like any custom rom using twrp or clockwork mod..
so if anyone want to isntall stock rom , then we dont have to go back and flash stock oppo recovery ---> then install stock rom ---> and then root it again..
instead just by flashing the stockrom with root .zip file , using twrp or clockworkmod we can get bacl stock os , just like flashing cyanogen mod rom or mokee rom or aicp rom that we already have.. for my samsung/lg devices there are stock roms which are rooted (with extra features like debloat and deodexed )deodex is difficult so not needed..but atleast we can have a stock rooted rom..
The easy way would be to make factory reset, root the device, install custom recovery, backup the device. Then copy the backup to PC or the external sdcard.
