Hi guys,
I am new here, recently i got to know that TA-1000 is a Chinese only version and was supposed to be in China only, but somehow i got it and wasn't able to update. It was stuck on April 1st, and now it is on September 1st.
I followed a procedure by a Russian guy on this forum. I must say this site is amazing. So i made a video out of it.
Well i am not sure if i can post the video tutorial link here in the forum. Let me know if i can and i'll send you the link to do it very easily.
Looking forward.
Thanks
Mavrik

After the Hard Reset (which will delete pre-installed unnecessary apps), will I get the previous UI (swipe up to get to Main Menu)?
I can confirm that it works on Nokia 6 TA-1000. In my case I had the phone connected to the PC already when I had the flash tool open. And when I turned it off to prepare for flashing the firmware it automatically switched to Download Mode. But the GUI is changed after that. No more swipe up menu and the items in the pull down menu are way too big now.
You can install Pixel Launcher that have swipe up function.
I followed this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/development/nokia-6-official-firmware-mena-region-t3664441 and flashed the nokia 6 ROM linked there.
Result:
1. My phone is no longer identified as TA-1000, but as TA-1025 instead.
2. It updated itself (OTA) all the way from 7.1.1 June 2017 (through July, August, September, October, November patches) and ended as 7.1.2 November 2017 patch.
Warning:
Your mileage may vary. My phone went through few ROM flashes described below and the end result can not be guarantied.
My phone is dual SIM, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage without NFC - definitely Chinese version.
History:
I purchased the Chinese (mainland) Nokia 6 in May.
The phone came with some weird (custom) ROM without update function but with Google apps. The ROM was so messed that location services didn't work properly so applications like G maps, gett and even tinder were not able to detect device location.
I followed this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/development/problem-firmware-nokia-6-ta-1000-t3640667 to flash slightly modified global ROM with stock Android 7.1.1. It still missed the update and some minor issues like DOLBY not working.
Then I followed this thread to flash the original TA-1000 ROM https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/how-to/nokia-6-ta-1000-september-update-t3679882 and it went to stock locked Chinese ROM that updated (OTA) to December 2017 security patch.
It was still awful experience with custom locked apps without option to replace some of them.
So I just followed that thread, and flashed the ROM for nokia 6. I Ignored the warning about different phone model and continued.
Everything seems to be working just fine (none of the issues I encountered with other ROMs).

I really like what you have done. I also have a TA-1000 with the December patch but in 7.1.1. I had thought of flashing another rom many times, but they say that in that case it is no longer updated by OTA. If you say that OTA really works, I'm going to decide to flash it.
I also would like to know if location services are working ? With Google play update (I'm in France) I have region issue I think. When I bought it in July I had Google location history working. After some time and a Google play services update it stop working by disabling it. And share location is not showed anymore in location settings. And location history is greyed and locked. Everything is on in Google settings, I tried another account flash the phone with original firmware and as soon as I install Google play it updates it self and lock location history. It works on a ta-1033 but in France ta-1000 won't work.
I tried to cheat on GPS settings, not using my French SIM card and on. But still it disable itself.
So does flashing ta-1025 solves this issue ? ta-1025 is the Indian version ?

Share your results. OTA worked just fine. The phone updated itself (OTA) all the way from July to November patches.

TA-1025 is MENA (Middle East / North Africa) version. AFAIK, the difference between versions is in the radio bands.
My location history works perfectly fine as well as every other application using location services.

In this case, I need a European ROM for flashing. Radio band is not the same that MENA version.

The ROM has nothing to do with radio bands. It's the HW difference.
For example TA-1000 does not have NFC and no ROM will fix it.
The ROM that linked in my post is for TA-102x and TA-103x.
There will be no difference in functionality between international ROMs. Only Chinese is different.
Well, I shall try then to install the ROM . As I have the Chinese version I guess it will disable NFC, and may be led support ? I will post the result next week here ASAP.
Then I will install the rom ta-102x in my ta-1000. Cross our fingers
It has worked!!! Thank you very much!!! Now I have a fully operational TA-1025, which has all the updates down to 7.1.2 by OTA. I had been thinking about flashing another ROM for a long time, but I did not dare if OTA updates failed.
I only find a defect. the apps of the Chinese version have disappeared. There is no backup app, gallery, or music. They have been replaced by google. Is it possible to get the apps from the Chinese version?

It's not a defect, it's a blessing
The launcher is still some semi custom version.
If you are interested in Chinese apps, you should probably flash the TA-1000 ROM from this thread - it has all the custom apps including contacts, phone, calendar, music etc.
A small update: today I've got the December 2017 security patch was really hopping to see Oreo update which was promised to land this year.

Hello sir, I found ur post is interesting, I would like ask some questions if I may:
1. Which ROM I need to download, the one in the first page of this thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/development/nokia-6-official-firmware-mena-region-t3664441) or other pages? Since currently that thread have 49 pages so I confused which one I should download.
2. After download the ROM and flash it with OST Tool, the apps and data will be wiped out? Is it required to do a hard reset? Currently I have TA-1000 which at December Updates and since I flashed to the original chinese stock ROM I never do hard reset and working with my old data and apps just fine until.
3. Have you try the beta labs to try the Oreo update? Since right now TA-1000 model is unable to register. If like u said that the ROM could change the registered variant (from TA-1000 to TA-10xx) then probably it could pass the beta labs verification.
Looking forward for ur respose, if anyone would also like to help pls reply this message. Thank you.
Hey guys so I need to download to an earlier security patch for the nougat version. Will samsumg force me the update to Oreo or newer security patches? If so is it possible to disable the update? I'm going to install one with the February security patches.
In my experience when an OTA comes available you can just ignore it indefinitely, it never forces itself to install, but the message will always be there.
Not sure what it contains

[Only security update]
It's just security update they are too dumb to give it, it's stupid cause they will lose lot of customer with that
G8 has it lol enough said

In Belgium. I just got my LG G710EM replaced. The new unit is on p (November security) and no update is available.
This is my third (and last) G7. The volume button stuck on the first one and the second one's charging port failed after three weeks. I can deal with out-of-date software but quality control is worrying me.
I want LG to not to roll Android Pie update and directly roll Android 10 as soon as it gets available.
Android Pie doesn't make any sense now that 7 months have been passed and Android 10 is just 4 months away.
Android 10, may be next decade. New update is just security patch that too Feb security patch

Just received the update v10t-feb28-2019 on my Indian 64gb variant. These are the following changes I found till now:
1. New keyboard layout
2. VoLTE option to be enabled/disabled
3. Google Feed coming up instead of smart menu when swipe left
4. Phone became a bit smoother
5. Photos taken from stock camera look a bit cleaner
6. And of course the Feb security patch
I tried to install the "s" update kdz, Polish version using LG UP, as Sweden looks to be left in the cold. It installed 100% without errors but then got stuck at boot, I had to do a error recovery: power + volume down, when the phone reboots; at exactly that moment switch to volume up and insert the usb cable at the same time and then use LG Bridge.
Thankfully it didn't erase anything and all my settings and apps are intact, but I'm still at the same old "q" with the December security patch.
My EU got dec patch to. Its useless to flash other kdz. I expect this week a update with feb patch. LG must provide in each 3months security updates.
Sent from my LM-G710 using XDA Labs
I never once checked for a update on my Sprint version, since I had it.. But it looks like it updated without me even noticing. Feb 1 2019.
Is it just me but are they just focused on their g8 right now lol
I manually flashed the latest update for the Pixel 2, RP1A.201005.004.A1, followed by modifying the boot image with Magisk Manager and flashing that, followed by EX Kernel P2-4.09. When I go into About phone, Android version, I see:
Android version
11
Android security update
October 5, 2020
Google Play system update
December 1, 2020
Kernel version
4.4.223-ElementalX-P2-4.09
Build number
RP1A.201005.004.A1
Shouldn't the security update also be December? What could I have done wrong? Is the Android security update in the boot / kernel image or what is it part of?
Security updates have stopped as of October for this device
I read that there's a serious Jan. 2021 security update on the latest phones from Google, and Pixel 2 people don't get it. I'm still using my Pixel 2, but I'm being very careful how I use my phone now.

So just to confirm, you're seeing exactly the same versions listed in About phone, Android version that I listed in the initial post?
Just finished flashing my pixel 2 back to full stock (Build No RP1A.201005.004.A1) so thought id have a look and it's showing October 5, 2020 for security patch also. Ran the OTA updater but says up to date with same patch date also, looks like October was it's last patch.
The last security update I see is June 1, 2022, which is to install Android 13, which I don't really want. Since there is a a new wifi calling exploit found, is there a way to get the security updates without installing A13 or does Goolge have the deck stacked and I'm essentially forced to upgrade? I live in a rural area and without wifi calling, I have no service.
I think your best bet would be to install a security patch via Magisk if you can find one. Also, maybe a kernel would offer what your looking for?

First of all the exploit was fixed with the latest update a few days ago! The exploit was discovered, fixed and published by Google. That's the usual way a chip manufacturer deals with it and there' no reason why it should be unsecure to use the latest firmware. BTW: No device was attacked.
Security patch level June '22? You want the latest patch level without installing the corresponding firmware? For what purpose? A new security patch = updated firmware and without an updated firmware you don't have any patches. That's it.
Edit: Some background information. Your installed patch level is set in your boot.img. In theory you'll need a patched boot.img with another patch level (unlocked bootloader required => all data gets wiped!). But your device isn't then more secure than before!!
So it's clear in my head, the OS is firmware and the latest security patches rely on the latest OS to function, correct?

Interesting. I installed all the available updates and the is no March update, which I thought was needed to fix the exploit. The most recent update is from Feb 5, 2023. This is a 6A phone.
