Hello guys, I'm currently developing my first custom ROM and I need some help. Can anyone tell me how to add listviews on "About Phone" so I could include my ROM name? Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks!
Im not a developer so could be wrong but pretty sure that reads build.prop, so just edit that and should be good to go?
mmm.. build.prop is where the data and values stored to tweak your device's performance and basically where the build properties of your device is placed. What I want is to add listviews to "About Phone" and include the name of the ROM. Thank you for the reply though. stay awesome!

I'm sure i'm not the only one so i thought i would post my result of a lengthy search. Hopefully this will speed up others search for knowledge on creating ROM's.
Can anyone please tell me how to edit (where) the "credits" i mean the words that are in the "Kernel version" and in "build number" dialogs in the "About phone" menu of any update.zip (theme)
I'm just wanting to change up some font colors and grahics on a rom I have. I was told Eclipse was the way to go, so I set up an Android Dev machine with all the plugins and recommended tools. Now what?
Since no one is willing or able to help, could someone or a Dev be so kind to get me the correct xml file that will change the top title bar fonts to white instead of black. I will put the file in the rom and re-sign it myself.
I am by no means any good at theming, I fail pretty hard, but this might help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=535630
Also, maybe try posting in the theme forum. Good luck.
There are different xml files for different stuff. Check out colorchange app. It works with cyanogen to change all stuff. Much easier that the xml stuff we used to have to do. Pm me if you have any specific questions.
If you search for colorchange or even posts by me you will find it. When I turn my pc on later I will post a link if required.
Thanks for the info mates (MontAlbert and bcrook). I will check out the colorchange app. One day I will find some write ups on Elclipse and android rom programming. Will let you know how the app worked out, MontAlbert.

You probably want to ask these questions in the Android dev group(s) on Google groups. The digests I get every day indicate there is a lot of activity there.
Hello devs!
ROM Toolbox is a rom manager plus much more, and we want your rom in our app. All roms will be *completly* free to download through our rom manager.
Why should you want to put your rom in our app?
Because your rom can meet a much larger audience with more potential downloads/donations for you.
We want this to be as easy as possible for you.
To get the rom on ROM Toolbox, please do the following:
1) Fill out the file below with the roms/zips you want to have.
2) Upload this file to your server. That way you can be in control of what ROMs show up at all times. Otherwise we can host it ourselves.
3) Send us the link to this file on your server.
4) Send us a summary of the ROM.
5) Send us the name of the ROM.
6) Send us the devices you support.
Code:
<roms count="1">
<rom>
<category>Category of zip</category>
<name>Rom name</name>
<info>Rom description</info>
<PhoneModel>DROIDX</PhoneModel> <!-- in build.prop file. see ro.product.model -->
<SubFolder>name_of_folder_to_download_to</SubFolder> <!-- should not have spaces -->
<url>http://jrummy16.com/jrummy/roms/liberty/downloads/Liberty2.0.1DX.zip</url><!-- your direct download link here -->
<md5>85222c22c2e44903b0ded06fe61b6d46</md5> <!-- if you don't want to put md5sum leave as * -->
<donate>http://bit.ly/donateliberty</donate>
<screenshot>http://i52.tinypic.com/29e4rba.png</screenshot>
<IsDependent>false</IsDependent>
<dependency>com.license.package</dependency>
</rom>
</roms>
Note: you can add as many zips/roms as you want.. just add another section right under the "rom" entry. If you need any assistance filling this out feel free to ask and we can help you!
Ideally we would love for you to maintain your own download link. If this is not possible, please contact us and we'll do our best to help out.
ROM Toolbox is going through a major overhaul in the near future and we want you to be a part of it.
Thanks!
(Mods, wasn't sure if this should go here or in development. Feel free to move it.)
Already got a few ROMs in our Toolbox. Send us your info to get yours in as well!
Just emailed you
Your best bet would be to contact the CM team as they are mainly the only ones that use this type of option. Most developers won't use it.
Had to dig to find this
Got your email and will respond soon. Thanks man!
Great tool. Just added my ROMs and themes to ROM ToolBox and it works great. This will be a nice tool to give users of my ROM an easy possibility to update.
Thank you jrummy16.
Hello jrummy16,
Can't see my ROMs anymore in the ROMToolBox. My themes are still there, but not the ROMs. Checked the XML file, but it looks good. All I can see in the ROM List is "Fonts", "Google Apps" and "Superuser", but not a single ROM. I checked my ro.product.model on the tablet and it shows the correct code.
Any idea?
Getting ready to set this up for my AOKP port for the Droid RAZR (CDMA) but I had a few questions first.
1. After completing the XML file, is the file name supposed to be anything certain? Or can I just save the file as "KOA_AOKP"?
2. It says from Step 3 on, to send you information. My question is where am I sending this info to? There is no email address posted or anything to contact you.
3. Lastly, the lines that say:
<SubFolder>name_of_folder_to_download_to</SubFolder> <!-- should not have spaces
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
and
<category>Category of zip</category>
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Could someone please elaborate on these lines. Sorry for being so nitpicky but I really want this to work and don't want to mess it up. My questions for those 2 lines are:
What does the line mean by "name of folder to download to?" Does this mean the name of the folder I want the download to create on the users phone?
"Category of zip" for this, would I just put "ROM"?
Again I'm really sorry for asking for so much clarification, just wanted to make sure I get this right and my users can get their ROM from this great source! Thanks JRummy and team for all you guys do!
Hello everyone,
I want to know how to get to have the reboot options (Reboot, Recovery, Donwload) on Marshmallow (Nexus 5 or other) stock rom on power menu without being obliged to install a custom rom or any type Xposed modules (which apparently do yet working on this version of android).
Threads exist here and there on the forum but for other versions of android and all talk of a framework and android.policy.jar modifications.
If android.policy.jar easily found on these older versions of Android (the file found in the framework folder), in Marshmallow rom impossible to get hold of it. :crying:
I think that this file has simply disappeared from circulation and was replaced by something else, see that his features were incorporated elsewhere ...impossible to find information on the subject despite long searches !
Is someone would be kind enough to please bring some informations and explain how to do that? that would be awesome !
Thank you in advance for your answers.
I think you might be interested in the world.
Cordialy.

Hello everyone,
One to answer? I'm really surprised and disappointed!
No one can answer that? With the number of developers or modifiers that there is anywhere on the forum? :crying::crying::crying:
Come on guys, we need your lights! :laugh:
Reminder to all those who know!
I use this app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=phongit.quickreboot&hl=en
Hello and thank you for this first response.
Unfortunately, it does not answer my question.
I already know this app that I use every day.
I want to know what changes to make on Marshmallow stock to bring up this reboot menu, as you might do in other previous versions.
yes I like digging my head ^^

Look into Android's system file named build.prop located in /system directory and note down the corresponding value of the 5 keys
ro.product.system.brand
ro.product.system.device
ro.product.system.manufacturer
ro.product.system.model
ro.product.system.name
and post them here.

What android version does this device run by default? Also post build.prop files xXx yYy mentioned.
Greetings!
We live in Brazil and my friend bought one of these phones, whose seller is Brazilian.
By installing the phone chip in it, my friend had his number cloned.
How can we resolve this? Do you have to replace the whole kernel?
Note: I'm not fluent in English so I used google translator. Some part of the translation may not be perfect.
