So yeah, I hate asking questions here because people tend to get hateful pretty quick if the answer is somewhere else.
Knowing this, I'm asking the question because I can't seem to find the correct answer anywhere.
What versions of magisk work with our device? I'm on 16 now but my daughter's Pokémon go isn't working and I found I need 16.3. Does it work?
Again, please don't set me on fire. A simple answer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks folks.
I'm using 16.4 and manager 5.7.0. works with anything here on my Pixel. I don't use removal tool. Or use patch boot tool either. Works on Dp3 also.

hello,
i need a suggestion for a ROM that should have the following properties:
root should be switchable (on/off) and hidden
saftynet should be OK
security Patchlevel less March 2017
These things are needed to play pokemonGo, yes i know this time and effort for a game but i like it.
so help is very appreciated
If you root via Magisk it can hide root and pass safetynet so long as you're not using Xposed, which you should be able to do on any ROM of choice
If you need Xposed you can use the Magisk systemless module, and turn it off and on as required
Build it yourself? The people on xda aren't your rom-maker-slaves. Figure out yourself.
@000Nick: i dont be searching for slaves only for People which are smart enough to help others. (i'm not to be able to build my own)
@Beanvee7: i had many problems with a superman rom and magisk. result was a bootloop, recover to stock and 2 days of work and cold sweat.
That's because i ask for help and recommendation for a ROM that fulfilled my expectations.
in the past i am using a CM13_by_temasek for my S3 and it work like a charm, now i am searching the same for my S7 but it seems to be much harder to find something that works the same easy way.
I use superman with magisk, so can't offer reasons why it would bootloop
@Beanvee7: maybe my own foolishness.
1. i install cfautoroot with ODIN
2. i install TWRP manager from playstore and installed TWRP
3. i installed Superman ROM 1.9.1
till then all worked fine
then i tried to switch off root in Superuser. in Superuser it shows me "deactivated" but every App could become root.
next try was to activate magisk hide but it doesnt hide root. i tested with saftynet check and in any Android test app (come with superman) shows me root too
next i checked the unload "superuser module" (only unload not delete) in magisk manager, this removes root but saftynet test is still not OK
next i tried to activate the load of the superuser module but thats not possible.
after that, i reboot to recovery and now i got errors and run into a loop shows me something about FRP Lock
nothing else worked than going to download mode and flashing a stock Rom back.
and all of that, including the restore of all my apps and configure many things that could not restored (twice) busy me for two days.
possibly i selected the wrong options in aroma installer but i have no idea what i made wrong and why it doesnt work for me (hide root and let saftynet be OK)
but i do not want to try it again if i am not sure to do it for a last time because it is to much time i have to spend for that.
and every time i loose a little bit of my apps/gamescores and so on.

Why should someone do this for you? No one owes you a custom ROM, and you're not offering anything in return. Figure out how to get this setup yourself, or a pay a capable dev to do this for you.

The way you worded it suggests that you need a rom custom mode for you. You said you need a "special rom" which would be the incorrect thing to say if there are other time like it.
@YMNDLZ: yes, you are right, my wording is a little bit misleading
i revised it in my first post and hope it is better now.
thanx for your advise.
Yes indeed, I'm an Android n00b, but not a total n00b. Sincere apologies if this has already been addressed/solved. I've been lurking around these forums for a couple of weeks now (and read all the recommended threads and joined obviously) and haven't been able to find a solution. Kingoroot seemed to work (both pc and android), but only upgraded to 4.1 jellybean. The minimum required is 4.4 so essential apps can be installed. At this point, just knowing whether or not it's possible would be great.
My search actually started two months ago when I picked up this phone. Extensive searches have yielded results, but most have been non-functional like this site...
https://koselas.com/how-to-install-custom-rom-on-kyocera-torque-e6710/
and the ones found on the forums here just didn't work or the question was never answered. (here for example...https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/rooting-roms/kyocera-torque-e6710-unlock-t3241129).
Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all of you who even bother to read this and have a great day.

Howdy, I found the method which worked for me toward the end of this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2204320&page=60

I don't recall if FR 1.60 or 1.90 will work, but ONLY one of those two will work. You need to reboot immediately after trying and then install SuperSU from the Play store, as Framaroot will NOT install SuperSU as it says it will.
After you install & opened SuperSU to update binary, follow my instructions I posted in the link to get hotspot working. Make sure you choose grant all w/o notification in SuperSU because it will NOT pop up giving you the option to grant root access request.
It works for sure. If you are having trouble, try a hard reset prior to rooting.
It should also be noted there is no stock ROM to flash if you screw up, so make sure you backup the files you remove from /system should you choose to uninstall bloatware.
Beyond that, it must be user error. I have rooted 7 Torques on various firmwares, including 3.000sp with no difficulty other than trying to figure out which version of FR works.

I used Framaroot version 1.9.0 on my Kyocera Torque E6710 running Android 4.1.2 (stock), Software version 3.000SP.
Framaroot version 1.9.3 didn't work for me.
LMK if this method works for you
@VinGrif...
Thank you very much for taking the time to answer this question. At the moment, I've got a large backlog of work and other projects so, it may be another week or two before there's time to do this. Once completed, I will update on the success (and which worked). Just wanted you to know that your answer was appreciated, but I'm swamped for the holidays. Thanks again!
Hi, I've been meaning to root my phone for a long time and I'm finally getting around to it. I've read a few of the guides here, but I don't understand completely, and I don't want to risk messing anything up.
I've got an Xperia XZ Premium (obviously), dual sim. The build number is 47.2.A.4.41 (I know, I keep putting off the updates).
I don't really know where to progress from there. I've got my internal storage [/storage/emulated/0] backed up on my computer (using Syncthing). I've got the apks of the apps that I want to keep, on my computer (I'm wanting to rid myself of Google as much as possible).
Before I start, what software do I need? What ROM should I use? My aims are for customisation and maximum freedom on my device.
EDIT: I just wasn't searching hard enough. Sorry for being another daft newbie with a "how do I root" thread. I thought I had looked everywhere at the time though. Idk. But yeah, sorry for the pointless thread, and if the admins have to go lock this now.
I've seen Newsflasher, TWRP, and Magisk mentioned around. I get what Newsflasher does, but not the others. What do they do? What versions should I use, and how do I use them?
I want to know how to go about every step, if that's possible. I'm still new to messing with smartphones in this way.
Sorry I'm a bit clueless, and thanks in advance!
To obtain root, first unlock your bootloader.
Then install TWRP via flash tool or adb
Instal magisk manager. Apk and downoad magisk. Zip from that apk
Flash via TWRP
Done!
Hello everybody, I'm new to XDA forums here, so please be kind
I recently installed Lineage OS 15 on my Nintendo Switch and rooted it with Magisk using TWRP, everything is working great except CTS-profile is failing on the safetynet check. Does anyone know a possible solution? Thank you.
Edit: after looking around in the deep web, I found an easy, safe, solution. All you need to do is download busybox and props from magisk, then change your keys. If you need help just reply
When I rooted on Pie, I just didn't bother with OTAs after that. Unless it's a new Android version or has new features, I don't care. Security patches are overhyped drivel. Never had an issue, never will.
When I updated to 10, I Googled like mad and followed some step by step instructions. Easy peasy. But I'd really like to just KNOW what to do and how to do it. So could someone knowledgeable on this walk me through the correct way to deal with OTAs when stock rooted with Magisk. The only root stuff I even really use is a few substratum themes here and there, which of course I know to disable/uninstall before an update.
Unless I'm mistaken (or just remembering it wrong), there's a nifty A/B method for doing OTAs and keeping Magisk/root.
Anyway, could someone just give me a play by play of what exactly I need to do and how to do it? I was hoping I could learn before the November update drops in (presumably) a few days or so. Help would be greatly appreciated.
it's pretty simple, restore images then perform OTA (don't restart) and install magisk to inactive slot.
for details check official Magisk Documentation (can't post link)
