Then it sounds like one of your apps is forcing the problem. I have always had problems with Smart Connect and have disabled it entirely on the last two Xperias I've owned.

go to developer options and or if you dont have it go to settings ---> sytem -----> about phone ----> build number ---> click on it 8 time - you have now become a developer (hahah not really but anyway moving on.
in developer options scroll passed your wi-fi settings - i think by default this is set to bluetooth version 1.6, try and changing this to 1.4 and then restart phone and re-connect - I had similiar issues and this seemed to fix some of my connectivity blue tooth issues.

Thanks for your suggestion... I did that after posting question here ! but it didn't worked as well !
If you're sure that it's not a problem with your network but your tablet and a factory reset didn't fix it, it should go to the service centre.
Can it connect to other wifi networks? What do you mean by never turns on - does it say its on but not do anything?

Hi There,
The device will connect to some network only when it's wifi is turned on ! The WiFi status shows "Turning on the WiFi" but it never turns on and shows me available networks to connect...
Anyways looks like visiting service center is the only option for me ! Thanks for your time mate !

Prashant

Hey,
I have the same problem after updating my (tab 2 Wifi-3G 10.1) to Android 4.2.1. the tablet was working so well after updating, but after that I wake up and I had that anoyning problem. the problem is when I click on the setting and try to turn on the wifi it shows only (turning wifi on...) and nothing happening. it feels like the wifi cant start or establish the connenction, therefore no available wifi routers or Hotspots can be listed.
What happened the last two days, I tried to check if the tablet will work again after 2 weeks no charge and drain all the battery, SO IT REALLY WORKED BUT ONLY FOR 5 MIN and the problem came back again.
I downgrade to Android 4.0.4, tried fix apps like "FIX MY WIFI", also download the patch file " wpa_supplicant" and all these steps did not really helped or fixed this issue.
Internet and google didnt really gave me the good answer and also there are many tablets with this problem.
NOW, If anyone KNOW anything about that problem PLEASE TRY TO POST YOUR SOLUTIONS.....
Thanx alot

2, Yes going into settings and the pull down tab, none of them work when i press it on both the tab down and setting menu, it turns back off.

wiping cache doesnot need rooting you can do that even when your phone is not rooted

[Q] Wi-Fi connectivity issues

Hey guys,
I'm having some issues with my Wi-Fi connectivity on my N5 and it's freaking me out! :crying:
When I'm trying to connect to my home network, the Wi-Fi icon is getting orange after some random time.
Some times it gets back to white, some times it's not.
I know its a known issue but nothing seems to fix it.
I tried everything - reboot my phone, reboot my router, reboot into safe mode, forget the network and connect again, toggle into airplane mode and back, change Wi-Fi settings to connect only to 2.4 GHz, avoid poor connections, update my router firmware.
NOTHING worked!
The only thing I haven't tried yet is factory reset but I read some people saying it didn't help them either.
Only turning Wi-Fi off and than on again makes it "white" again for some other random time.
I'm running stock everything on a rooted device with Android 4.4.4 build KTU84P.
My Wi-Fi is working great with other devices in the network including a Nexus 7 2012 and some laptops.
And it seems that my Nexus 5 is connecting fine to other Wi-Fi networks.
It worked fine in the past and I think it all went wrong when I replaced my Modem.
Any ideas what else can I try?
Do you think maybe the Lollipop update will fix this annoying issue?
Thanks!
Forgot to mention (I guess it is obvious) - I can't connect to any website or run any network connected app when I'm "orange" (I know it means I'm not connected to google services).
Tried also to change my Wi-Fi channel. still not working.
Doesn't anyone have an idea what is wrong here?
This is really frustrating ... :crying:
Well, I'm kind of talking to myself here, but in case someone else is facing this annoying issue, here is what fixed it for me eventually:
Configure a static IP to my phone in the router configurations ! :victory:
Before that, I also tried to disable Wi-Fi optimization in the phone Wi-Fi settings, buy it didn't seem to help.

Galaxy S7 disconnecting from wifi while in standby

I have a stock galaxy s7, no root, no custom rom. When I wake up the phone from sleep, I often find that it lost wifi connection and I have to reconnect it manually.
I have tested 3 wifi networks and this happens only with 2 of them, so this make me think that it's a modem issue. BUT my previous phones (lg g3s, samsung galaxy s4 mini, meizu mx5) worked fine with the same connections, so this make me think that it's a phone's issue.
I have ''smart network switch'' disabled and also ''bluetooth scanning'' disabled (I read on AndroidCentral that bluetooth scanning could cause the problem, but it's not my case). The problem persists even with the latest firmware update.
Any suggestion? What can I do?
All the wifi networks I tested are 2.4 Ghz, the signal is strong and the wifi channel is relatively free.
I've experienced the oppsite problem.
My Wi-Fi is always on. Either I choose the "While charging" or "Never" option in "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" setting in Wi-Fi More menu.
Here I find an article about How to disable background Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning in Marshmallow.
But in S7's firmware there isn't Scanning option in overflow menu in Location setting like it showed by pictures.
I'm very confused.
Settings -> WLAN/WIFI -> More -> WiFi Standby

Me not.

The options that you are looking for are in a subsection inside the location settings. I don't know how the subsection is called in English because I'm italian and I use italian language, but it think it's ''location improvement', or something like that. Also, I have the exynos version of the S7, if you have the snapdragon one maybe this subsection could be absent or in another position.
But to be honest I don't think that you can solve your problem this way... Have you tried to reset to factory settings? Or have you checked if there is an app that forces the wifi to stay awake?
Btw, I did not solved my problem yet. I contacted Samsung assistance yesterday, and they told me that I have to send them the phone for reparation, but I'm sure that it could be solved modifying some parameters on my router... I don't want to leave them my phone for 2-4 weeks, beacuse I'm sure that they would send me it back with the same problem. If I find out a solution I will post it.

Yes, both works fine. I have the Exynos SM-G930F
I solved the problem. I disabled the WOW FI service on my router and the phone never disconnected again. WOW FI is a new service of my internet provider that allows to share your wifi connection between all the customers of the provider, splitting the wifi connection in 2 separate connections, one private and one public. For some reason the S7 didn't like the second connection.
Samsung S7 WiFi forced to sleep
Hi
I've been having this extremely annoying condition too, since the last software update.
I came to the conclusion that it was some kind of aggressive power management setting that was putting all kinds of apps to sleep.
Today.... I think I might have found a solution... I say might, as it's only been a few hours..
So I've done is this..
Go to settings.
Search for "Battery"
Click on the three menu dots in the top right hand corner.
Click on "Advanced Settings"
Turn off "App Power Monitor"
So far, so good.
My WiFi stays connected and the 2 VoIP apps and Text-to-voice app are alive and well.
Curiously, my battery drain doesn't seem affected.
I'd be interested to know if this solution works for other people.
Good luck.

[Q]i can't get my mobile data and wifi on at same time ...

hello everybody.
i recently got a problem , as we know, in the dev option , there is a setting that enables mobile data on even while Wi-Fi is connected.
i set it on , and then once i connect to wifi the data off immediately.
first of all i thought might be some of my apps interfering the system so i just did factory reset , 0 app installed , i didn't even update the pre-installed apps.
but still same thing , i tried reboot like dozens times, enable disable wifi , enable disable data connection ...etc.
nothing works out...
any idea please ?

So basically you want both on at the same time? Or to change automatically from WiFi to LTE when not in WiFi range?

i wanna them on at same time , just like the screenshots of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/wifi-data-time-t3349520
i have been googling around , funny thing is i saw few users got them on at same and try to get rid of it and i am desperately try to get them on ...
Can confirm it worked using developers options setting, 4G & WiFi enabled simultaneously yesterday when I read this thread
Just tried it again now and it won't enable 4G unless I disable WiFi
Looks like a bug with the OS, not just you
Report to Samsung and hope for a fix
Just download Google duo app and run.
