It can be installed on any device from any country.
True, BUT, Hydrogen is a China ROM so there is no google framework or anything google on it so you don't even have a working google play store on it since google is like banned in China if I recall correctly.
Google Play works here, but I regret installing this. Only language choice is Chinese or English. The buttons are mirrored and on the wrong side for europeeans.
Installs and runs nicely, heavily deblotaed with xposed and microg.
Feels snappier than 5.1.8
Lets see how battery performs
Android security patch may???

Probably but don't know for sure as I've never gone with a china only OS. It's because you have to add in the Google framework I believe. Out of the box Hydrogen I don't believe comes with Google Framework which allows you to install the play store and be able to launch it.
Open gapps installs and is functional.
Update on battery life: Same as on oos 5.1.8, no real benefit to run h2o over oxygen. So back to 5.1.8
Oneplus really weird, release new SW OTA yet the Android security patch is not using 1 or 5 June but the outdated 1 May patch.

You need to Format Data in Twrp or in Fastboot.

if you're on HOS 5.1.10 then download the rollback rom from the android p dp2 post and install it via local upgrade, then you'll be on OOS 5.1.6, now you'll get an ota for 5.1.8 simply update the same. no root, no fastboot, no twrp needed.
When is this coming to OOS

I bought my 1+6 in China and it has been upgraded to Hydrogen OS 5.1.10. I wanted to flash to Oxygen 5.1.8 but keep getting low version error, how did you get back to Oxygen from Hydrogen OS 5.1.10 ? Thanks..
Spyware
I'd be willing to bet the hydrogen version has a much greater chance of spyware being built in

Been using this since day one and after uninstalling and disabling all chinese apps I have not discovered any unwanted traffic with Glasswire. So no easy spotted things going on at least.

Replacing the phone app has nothing to do with FreedomOS. The Google phone app which is what was discussed with Aroma in the same sentence. OpenGAPPS has an Aroma installer available, and within that is the Google Dialer.

I'm well aware of that, it's a side point to what's required to use custom apps like Google dialer. Is there a return to stock guide?

Sorry about that. I probably came across weird there. As far as a return to stock guide, do you want, A. to return to stock with an unlocked bootloader and TWRP with root / no root or B. completely stock with the stock OnePlus recovery, OOS 3.2.2 and locked bootloader? If you want choice A I think there's a guide somewhere in XDA and also the OnePlus forums. If you want choice B I wrote up a guide for it. Here's the link for choice B:
[GUIDE] How to Unroot your OnePlus 3 and go back completely to stock
I am also interested in using google phone app. Couldn't install it from google play. I have oxygen os Lite custom rom. I will give it a try for installing it from aroma gapps.

Thanks
I mounted system 1st if that helps error 64. I didn't get any errors or fc's

thanks for the link, I'd seen the full guide to unlock but hadn't seen one to go back to stock yet until you linked it here. I may do this when I have a bit of time.
unrelated, are you running just stock OOS w/ root or a specific rom? what are your thoughts on the ROMs available so far?

Right now currently I'm running stock OOS 3.2.2 with root and XPosed. This thing is a beast on the stock rom! The last couple of days were spent trying 3 different roms.
The official CM13 nightlies are pretty good and stable, but are subject to the standard nightly quirk of suddenly stopping working due to the fact that they're nightlies.
I also tried the official Resurrection Remix 5.7.2 "stable" rom. That was also pretty good but is based on the CM13 nightlies so it has the same quirks. If you try this make sure you read the OP first as there are multiple versions of this rom and it can get confusing pretty quick.
The other one I tried was the unofficial Dirty Unicorns 10.4. It worked fine except that it constantly had issues with Google sync. I tried adding, deleting and re-adding my account to no avail. It would only partially sync. That was a dealbreaker.
I tried FreedomOS 1.3.1 twice yesterday but the installer is messed up and doesn't install the apps you choose, otherwise it works. If you want that one I recommend watching the thread for an update before you go flash it.
Also forgot to mention on CM13 and Resurrection Remix there is a notification bug far worse than the OOS one. You can receive the first notification with sound, the rest don't sound off. It has been reported to the devs. All of the devs on these roms are cool and work hard to make them pretty bug free.
The rest of the roms on there I haven't looked at. Most of the rest of them are similar in features to the above ones. I was going to try Slim6 but it's in alpha and as far as I know still doesn't have DASH charge capabilities. Roms that are in Alpha are a big no no on my daily driver.
I hope I've been of some help!

thanks man, this is all pretty helpful. coming from the N5X I'd been mostly looking at freedom OS since i'd heard about the issues on other roms (mostly the photo quality stuff, but that notification issue would annoy me quite a bit) and the stock N5X android M has little customization.
That being said, in this case since OOS is great and customizeable as is I may just do the same as you. Most of the removed system apps on freedomOS don't have any effect being present, I don't mind not having layers, and i can make most of the remaining mods myself.
What xposed apps do you use if you don't mind me asking?

Don't mind at all. Here's what I have at the moment:
AdBlocker <-- blocks ads in free apps, works great and better than MinMinGuard!
FingerprintEnabler <-- Removes the Android 6.0.1 restriction on using a secondary unlock with every reboot, just lets me use the fingerprint all the time.
Hide VoLTE Icon <-- A beautiful mod. Removes the ugly VoLTE icon on 3.2.1 and higher.
Lockscreen Album Art Remover (not sure if this is working properly or not)
RootCloak (so I can use my banking app)
YouTube AdAway <-- Removes the ads in YouTube videos. I tried it on one video and it seems to work nicely.
I'm still looking at some others. But for now this is functional. I'm also using AdAway downloaded from F-Droid (an open source app installer for Android) to block ads elsewhere.

i've seen doze issues myself on my OP3 as well (pandora stop playing, and email/message notifications are delayed), so i get what you mean. I do use greenify's aggressive doze with Doze-on-the-Go enabled via ADB though.
I just get annoyed by google play services wakelocks (and i don't even have google now or location history enabled)

Ah right, it seems they haven't updated the forum page.
Thank you Fayzrus for the information. I gave it a chance, because earlier I was on the Android version 9 and version 10 MIUI without updating to MIUI 11 but still on Android 9. I must admit that version numbering is a failure and Xiaomi should stick to the Android version and not change the update number. I enjoy the updates, but they will still be the same questions as they appeared here.
This is the Android 10 version and I decided to change it because I wanted to try Google Camera version 7.2 Parrot043
on Android 10 and finally I returned to the version PMGC_7.0.009_Astrophoto_Version_V12. The GCam_7.2.010_Urnyx05-v1.6 version also works on Android 9. So when it comes to Google Camera, I gained nothing and I didn't lose anything.
The Stock camera app works better for it and here for sure +.
Earlier I removed a lot from xiaomi 10.3.15.0 myself, and here there are much less MIUI applications and this is another +.
After 24 hours the ROM seems stable, all previous applications work. I use Nova launcher and also change from x1 to x0 programming options x0 animation scale, x0 animation length, x0 window animation scale. Rom is becoming much smoother and faster. The battery holds a little better than on Androd 9. Signal from the network more or less similar.
As for the installation I changed TWRP

7. Installation of MIUI 11 on Androda 10
https://sourceforge.net/projects/xi...K20MI9T_V11.0.2.0.QFJCNXM_v11-10.zip/download
8.Restart
9. A few minutes are waiting and we have a new ROM
10. Back to TWRP and Magisk Installation Latest Stable zip and later Latest Magisk Manager apk
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
Finally, I managed without any problems and now I am waiting for clean, stable AOSP 10
Someone could check the real widevine status on this rom, please?

Yes, flash magisk and GCAM aux module for accessing all 3 back camera. Stock kernel is very solid with battery life so try the stock kernel for few days and go for custom kernel.

No, unlock bootloader means you lose widevine L1. Other even lose it forever because flashing persist.img and not even msmtool could restore. So be careful
For me every Phone i get i use this way :
1 : I look at the phone and see how it's really amazing check the box.. accessories.. and everything.
2: Root and install Magisk with custom recovery (immediately )
3: go through initial set-up, register my fingerprint and face lock, G account, and for me i like a fresh start on every new phone, no backup or anything.
4: Install my apps from Google play and see if there's any updates ( I disable some apps that i don't use in example Google movies & tv.. Facebook.. G photos)
5: I Go to settings and I change some functions, and from customization - tone i prefer my phone to be fully dark , Also i change the ringtone and some sounds and i disable both lockscreen, screenshot and dial pad sounds.
6: I take care of my home screen, I rearrange the icons widgets, And folders to the way i like. And my homescreen set up is the same on every phone, I like everything to be simple and( stockish).
And here are some information of my OnePlus 7 pro
Keyboard: SwiftKey
Launcher: OnePlus launcher
Magisk modes: only 2 ( 1 for iOS emojies and special font and 2 make the camera zoom up to 20x)
ROM: OxygenOS 10.3.2 based on Android 10
And that's it, Enjoy your new OnePlus 7 pro You will absolutely gonna love it

Could you update how's your experience with PA ? I flashed it last week used it for a few days and experienced battery drain issue from 80% to 30% in 2 hours of very light usage with only spotify playing in the backgroud. Also can you flash Elementalx kernel with PA?
For me, I'm running
- latest stock rom debloated all of the unnecessary oneplus services and apps
- magisk
- arter97 kernel.. It has been giving me better battery ( increased standby and screen on time.) and much better ram management (really noticeable) since I got the 6 gb ram and with stock kernel it just wasn't able to keep as many apps as arter

- arter97 kernel.. It has been giving me better battery ( increased standby and screen on time.) and much better ram management (really noticeable) since I got the 6 gb ram and with stock kernel it just wasn't able to keep as many apps as arter

I couldn't find this kernel
I tried both the methods (Sandhook and YAHFA) after installing the core and my device went into a boot-loop. I've reset it using msm 5 times now. Has anyone been able to install the Xposed module to their device without the eternal bootup animation? Moreover, is it me, or does rooting this device make it sortof unstable? (Apps crashing and general UI lag)
Only the canary version (v0.5.0.6-android_r) works on Android 11, which version number are you installing?

Oh, I didn't know this. There is a canary version of the Edxposed? I have (had) the canary version of magisk installed but I don't think I a canary version of Edxposed among the downloadable modules in magisk. Have you tried it and does it work? I have come back to android after 5 years so it's quite confusing for me, last I flashed SuperSU using TWRP on OnePlus 3.
Could you link me to the guide for installing Edxposed through Magisk for Android 11 devices?

To download the canary version you need to install Edxposed manager app first and then head to the canary tab and download either YAHFA or sandhook.
Afterwards you flash that zip file with magisk via internal storage

Yes it does. I tried it yesterday. And even after uninstall it was still broke. It was a pain without TWRP to get the safety net back to good.

Seriously i don't know why you want absolutely install Xposed on a 8T, Xposed is dead from a long time, actualy it's just the last old version ported/fixed by chinese dev for be compatible with new Android version.
But be sure when you said "does rooting this device make it sortof unstable? (Apps crashing and general UI lag)"
1/ NO it's not the ROOT making your smartphone unstable but it depend of your apps and usage
2/ YES for sure Xposed will create unstability, Xposed golden age was on Android 5/6, now it's finish

What do you suggest for usability? I, too, have been out of the rooting game for some time. When last I was rooted Xposed was the bees-knees. It offered so much usability as far as tweaks and mods.

Xposed died, now it *sorta* survives through edxposed BUT it's very unstable even on a good day and completely breaks safety net....
Edxposed is a newish kind of Xposed but barely works
If you can move to the eu or global firmware, use renovate ice for tweaks, it's basically the same thing as gravity box

Ugh, I wish I'd seen this thread before attempting to install EdXposed on my 8T.
I've been out of the root/magisk game for a few years -- :glares at LG G710TM: -- and yeah, the last time I was in this space Xposed was a big deal.
Problem is i use the old (HushSMS Silent Feature -0) The features do not work with out Exposed. This ****** sucks.

Hi guys,
I've used several of the ROMs that are available for the OnePlus 9, and the feature that i miss the most is the ability to spoof the name of the phone to make it work as a pixel. Is there a way to make this happen in the original android 12 rom with root?
The reason for this is the unlimited space in the google photos.
Thanks

There are magisk modules for both tasks your asking about. One for photos and one to change fp
Did you figure it out? The Pixelify Magisk module is what you're looking for if not.

I would try it but I'm on a custom ROM and happy with it for now. It works flawlessly on 11.2.10.10 as well as a custom ROM that's using OOS12 firmware.
If you use the Magisk bootloop protector it should be relatively safe to try but I understand now wanting to risk it. Having to restore is a tedious process.
Pixelify isn't supported (yet?). You can however install Lsposed and use the Pixelify GPhotos module for that functionality.

I am using Nameless. It's pretty good but my fast charging broke. It starts off fast and then slows down. Hoping a fix is coming. Also beware that the stock camera hasn't been sorted so you will have to use a GCam mod.

I'd just go to the custom rom, OOS 12 is pretty bad
Can anyone help me? I installed pixelify (via lsposed) module & Universal safety net fix by kdrag0n however since I have rooted, my phone keeps getting hacked. Like last time all my gmail accounts got hacked in the midnight & morning my phone was hot. I thought it was bcz of mod apk so I uninstalled. Tbh my insta & Twitter also got hacked many times & it posted some bitcoin stuff even before root. Does any brother here know what's happening to my device? Would be thankful.
