Info on Whatsapp Plus after Malwarebytes article - General Questions and Answers

Hello to everyone, I have been using Whatsapp Plus ( link here: wwwDOTofficial-plusDOTcom/ ) for almost an year thinking it was only a copy of the original app with some graphical mod. After reading this article ( blogDOTmalwarebytesDOTcom/cybercrime/2018/04/mobile-menace-monday-whatsapp-plus-fake ) I disinstalled it and installed the original app. The app I have been using is different from the one in the article but I'm afraid that even this one is capable of stealing personal data. Anyone here knows anything more? I tried searching on the web but I couldn't find a good answer.
P.S. I had to write DOT to repleace dots in the link because I'm a new member and I'm not allowed to post links.
Thanks guys!

I have read through the article and it seems although the application is not very dangerous per se, it will show you ads and make the phone go slower.
I recommend you always go with the official application if you want to avoid unwanted surprises

But the article says that it is capable of stealing data, I'm not concerned about ads. I tried to open the source code to find something but last code I saw was on Arduino

Obviously you just didnt realise what you just typed.
i'm sure you know there are tons of sites already doing this.. rating "software" and recommending software.. and no need of such waisted threads.
here's a link to begin your quest for recommended software.
www.download.com <- filter to mobile software (top rated, popular) .. ofcourse there are more sites on the net that does this better.
hey
lol. i can assure you i am aware of what i type!
my intentions were to eventually setup a CAB file repository for MS Smartphones here on xda-devs which can be accessed via our smartphones over wifi! i am working on compiling a list as we speak however i am having trouble finding some good freeware apps and will end up having to post 'trial' versions

Confusion about android!!!

Hi all ,
I was reading about android on a website and there was one statement which i didn 't understand: " it has a middleware application and other valuable development tools ". Can someone please explain me this statement about android ? I know that Middleware is software that allows a bunch of isolated systems or functionalities to interact. But i dont know the context here as i did not understand what is meant by android having middleware.. ..what would be the difficulty if it doesn 't has any middleware or what are the advantages of having it. Also, I did not got one more statement from the same page (posting below) Android does not work with programs that were developed in native code. I did not understood the word 'native' here . as far as i know , android apps are written in google developed java libraries ... so what does this statement mean?
Is there no one to reply to this in this forum?
How about a link to the original article? There's not nearly enough context in your post.
Sorry mrkite, i cant post the url unless i post 8 posts in this forum but i can tell you the link: you can search for all about android. seo chat keyword in google and it would be first result from seochat.com website

Understood - you can always post it as hxxp://etc.etc. it will let you do that. I'll take a look at the article.

I'm not quite sure what the author meant by middleware, either.
The 'native code' may mean one of two things. First, standard java apps don't run on android. Second, when this was written, the android ndk had not yet been released, so it wasn't possible to write functions in c/c++ and use them in an android app.

Torrent/Magnet links?

Hello Android users and devs!
First of all I want to apologize for posting in the General Discussion, but I do not have enough posts to do it in the Development Section.
Also I am not aware whether this has been already discussed or is it forbidden (I didn't found such restrictions in the rules)
Anyway, since I got my Desire S this forum is the primary source of information for me, as well as for all the other visitors around.
And especially when it comes to custom rom files there are troubles with dead links, crappy file sharing sites with stupid limitations, etc.
So I think it will be much more convenient for everyone (devs and users) to use the torrent system via magnet link (combined with QR scan maybe) for all the files that are posted around here. The download speed will be much better and all that have downloaded the file once will contribute by seeding it to the others. And of course via the appropriate client the files can be downloaded directly to the SD Card (this is of course possible now through the phone web browser, but a lot of steps are required - waiting, human security check forms, etc.).
Looking forward to your comments.

I'd suggest that you post this question within this the XDA forum in the chance that one of the mods will answer as this relates to rules and policy and isn't something that a member can answer.
Thank you for your reply! I agree on the policy matter, but my general idea was to start a discussion on this topic. In my opinion the torrent system is much more friendly when it comes to file sharing and I was curious is there people around that agree on that, especially the regular users like me and also the developers that are posting files all the time. One of the advantages as well is that on single torrent there can be multiple files attached.
So what do you think?
Sounds like a great idea

I totally agree with you, but unfortunately if the people here at XDA don't then its a wasted discussion.
Ok, there is the new thread. Let's see what will be the verdict

25 Android apps review sites

Hi. Of course, the greatest number of application installs is brought by market.android.com, but its structure doesn’t let new applications get into the top. It’s like a circle: the more installs come to market.android.com, the higher the position of the application in the top is and the more installs appear on market.android.com again. And vice versa – if there are few installs, your application is not in the top, therefore no more installs appear.
It turns out that at first you have to make an effort to push your app to the top of market.android.com. But where can you get these first application installs? There are sites with the reviews of android-apps in the network: large and small, free and commercial. As I noticed they give a good start to the applications which get into the top of new applications of market.android.com afterwards. Here is the list of sites that I’ve found:
Mod edit... Links Removed as several are Warez
I apologize for the unsorted list – I still have no idea how to arrange it.
Please share some more sites where you can place your own android-application.
Nice list..some are new to me..most are not, but great compilation..
Thanks.

Wow, thanks! That's what I've been searching for.
True, the Market got it wrong somehow.
Nice. thx!

Thank you for the list. I know this is an old post, but wouldn't it be a good idea to merge all the posts with sites where we can submit our apps to so there would be a long list (maybe stickie)?
I went in and gathered the list of sites that were posted here and on other sources with android sites(in total 96 sites), which should be helpful to contact for those that want to promote their apps. But unfortunately this is a warez site.....
Yes, that's a warez site, a mod should remove that post. Though as a strategy if you have a free app maybe it's a thing to contact the warez sites, they might get some traffic.

[Completed] Why does this Forum website make me suicidal and/or murderous with its complexity?

I consider myself a rational intelligent man but I find this site insanely complex, non-intuitive,an extremely frustrating! After sleepless hours and hours and hours and hours of trying to familiarise myself with this place, this 64 year old man is sitting here in tears trying to find his last post among other simple tasks attempted. Does there not exist here, a simple starting tutorial to introduce one to the basic workings of this place? Please help.
My problems partially solved.
My problems partially solved ...
I FINALLY found a downloadable and functional apk for this forum's app (Google Play store will not play with my device at present ... That is one of the reasons that I am here) ... and that is helping me a LOT!
Perhaps it would be a good idea for you to make it a point to strongly recommend the XDA forums app to newly arriving members here.
I TRULY think that the website UI here could use some development to make it much more new-user-friendly, however.
... Another point ...
Maybe I am missing some kind of search filtering option, but, I do not see any value in hundreds of thousands of non-applicable and irrelevant search results when trying to find something here. Perhaps someone could direct me to such filtering options if they do, indeed, exist.
In closing, I must say that the reception I received when joining here was very pleasant and I am already on my way via some help
and advice from a couple of members here to solve my crashed Play Store problem.

I personally find hundreds of thousands of non applicable and irrelevant search results on very specifically searched items very very very unhelpful...

You should be able to see all your previous posts in your profile and link to the thread there. Xda is confusing unless you know what u want from it. For me if i have a question i just pop it in xda search bar and relevant threads pop up. But if u want to learn everything then u have to come up with a specific thing first theres not really a guide to it all. But u should be able to find almost anything with the right search. If not post question in a help or q&a thread. I will help just let me know what u r looking for

I simply HAD to tether to my PC as I simply CANNOT function on this site via my smartphone ... it is HORRENDOUS. I can't even figure out how to THANK people hardly or reply to their help ...
DAYAM ... what takes seconds here takes HOURS there ... SO MANY BUGS ... photo verification of reply to prove I am not a robot half way off the farking page ... and MANY MANY other concerns.
The help is great but the UI is SO unfriendly !
Anyways ... thank you for your responses and I will be much less tense now that I am on my PC
No I know how to tether ... but I have not been bothering even when at home. I have been so stupid til now. I was just emphasizing how much easier it is to communicate with this site from a large computer, monitor and keyboard is all.
Thanks tho
