UPDATE A2 Lite apk used
I updated module with new apk from a2lite. download from Gdrive from following link.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1C4xWnJssECf58tYviQzLh6AN1PgwFqRw
I found a Magisk Module for Mi A1 stock camera app for custom rom I edited module so it works on Redmi Note 5 Pro (Indian version).
Portrait mode will not work because Mi A1 has 12 Mega Pixel secondary camera while Whyred has 5 Mega pixel so it won't be able to access it.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=10L9CkUmYVAdViatGCDviXEezb18wuaFy
I took the module and replaced follwing files .
In system/priv-app/MiuiCamera/lib/arm64/
libCameraEffectJNI.so
libcutils.so
libmorpho_panorama.so
libmorpho_panorama_gp.so
In system/etc/device_features/
removed tissot_sprout.xml
added whyred.xml
In common/
Edited system.prop
removed line ro.product.device=tissot_sprout
added line ro.product.device=whyred
All file were taken from MIUI 9.5.11.0 zip
did not replaced MiuiCamera.apk as it doesn't work. requires more work. If any one know about odex, vdex and oat files and can edit apk and make it work it will be nice. I am not technically knowladgable so I might not be able to answer any technical answer.
Thread from where I took the module
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/themes/oreo-mia1-stock-rom-camera-app-custom-t3758543
Credit goes to RAMESH HUNTER.
If you encounter error sayin can't connect to camera. Give app permission for camera sound and storage.
Progress so far. try throwing everything including kitchen sink. did not succeed. Portrait mode and hdr mode can not be enabled with same module.
Tried more things and figured some of the things out Here are the following.
system.prop files include line ro.product.device=tissot_sprout. It sets device id to Mi A1.
system/etc/device_features/tissot_sprout.xml files declares some variable.
system/priv-app/MiuiCamera/ folder include apk which gets installed at boot and have more permissions then other apps.
MiuiCamera.apk support multiple Phones so it can possibly run on many xiaomi device without modifying apk, But unfortunately does not support Whyred. Hopefully future version does.
apk can be decompiled into smali language or class file and ultimately java files, But editing those files and making it work requires knowledge and talent, Hope somebody does that.
MiuiCamera might be edited version of camera app found on aosp source code because smali code contains some of the same information.
Tried it on Mi 4i same functionality as whyred. hdr works portrait doesn't.
Is it working on Global version?
HDR, portrait mode works?
How can i install it in my redmi note 5 pro. does it work on custom rom like kk rom or mokee etc.
This is nice work man, HDR was crashing in the generic version here it seems to work once enabled.
EDIT: using global version
Yes. I am using global version

It is Magisk module. You can install it through Magisk manager
Tried it on mokee but the camera app just force closes.
Gave all the permissions from app info
i don't see the option to take photos in portrait mode (bokeeh), it used to be a stereo icon right on the top
EDIT: switched back to the generic version and it works fine, but no HDR.
Maybe (if you want to) you can try put out the file from China version, as it seems it does not detect the secondary camera(as it's the same in china e global, but different in India) and make 2 different version?
It is in options/scene/portrait. But it is not working.

Carrying the camera from MIUI to AOSP is almost impossible for a DEV in his spare time. MIUI and AOSP are very different. The A1 CAM (MIUI 9 CAM ) could be brought to custom roms because Xiaomi previously carried it to AOSP with the MI A1 and its rom Android One (AOSP) and saved us that hell of a lot of work. MI A2 and Mi A2 lite will be released on July 25th with the MIUI 10 camera and the same thing will happen. The MIUI 10 CAM is that of the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Why do you think the A1 CAM is doing so well on the Redmi Note 5 pro? Because it's the same camera that brought RN5 PRO to MIUI based on Nougat.

Of course, the cameras adapt to your phones, but the MIUI 10 CAM does not require the second slow camera to use HDR and portrait mode, so even the A2 CAM without any changes should work excellently on RMN5.

What about porting Asus Zenfone max M1 camera app?I know there are some under the hood changes (not a pure AOSP ),but is it possible?
Related
Xiaomi began to sell its first Android One phone Mi A1, it has original AOSP official ROM,but with a MIUI Camera. This means Xiaomi has ported the MIUI Cam to AOSP ROM,and this enables us to extract and port MIUI camera to any devices on any ROMs (in theory).
And it has been ported by many people to many Xiaomi devices with non-miui ROMs flashed .
However ,that MIUI cam app still needs much device-specific modifications and even needs to install many files into /system with a flashable zip.
It's a long and hard process to port it device by device. It's also needs root and unlocked bootloader to put files into system partition.
So the MIUI Camera Universal Port aims to port MIUI Camera into a common apk file that you just need to click and install.
Currently it's in early stage and have problems using some functions.
Important:This app will not remind you (showing a toast or dialog )to allow permissions. You need to enable all permissions of this app in settings. Go to Settings - Apps ,click MIUI camera and open permissions - enable all.
(Thanks @murali3127 for reminding)
Changelog in v0.03
Disabled INTERNET permission,to avoid data collecting .
Changed package name to avoid conflicts.
Thanks @jc9896 for reminding.
Change log in v0.01
Initial release
Modified code to enable all functions on any device (it will still disable automatically if a function is not supported by hardware)
Modified code to detect ISP platforms automatically (currently MIUI Cam only support qcom, mediatek, nvidia and lead core, if you run it on unsupported platforms such as HiSilicon the app still works but some bugs will never get fixed)
Added some libs to fix bugs

Do you have non-miui rom installed, and don't have another camera app exist in system? You don't need it if you have MIUI ROM.
And make sure the existing camera app's package name isn't com.android.camera or it will have problems installing because Android will think this app and your existing app are the same.

It should work if other third party cam works.
Doesn't work on Mi5s with LOS15
I got FC when activate dual camera on photomode, in video mode is working. (Xiaomi.eu on redmi pro)
Thanks a lot. It works great on my Redmi Not 3 on LOS 14.1. Even Panorama that never works on some other ports.
Do you think you could port new version (I think) that have auto HDR with flash ?
There is one on Redmi Note section but panorama doesn't works.
Thanks again for your work.
Thanks for this. Works perfectly on Galaxy A5 2017.
Works well on the LG aristo running lineage 14.1
Only issue I experienced was using the beautify function for the front camera.
Work in Galaxy A5 2017. (A520F)
Not work in Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
Works perfectly on my Redmi 2 running MIUI 9 by miuipro.
Some issue are that group selfie mode crashes the app, and video HDR causes camera to freeze. Using Apkeditor I changed package name to avoid conflicts.
Great job!

Well, the default MIUI camera that comes with MIUI 9 has no advanced features like manual focus, tilt-shift, video mode pause, etc on my Redmi 2, so this adds these features back without needing Xposed (I used to use MIUI 8 tweaks for that)
Awesome port! My camera app of my axon 7 mini is broken (produces just grey pictures). This one is feature rich and works almost flawlessly (panorama function FC's, but that's ok )
Many thanks for your effort man
Hi, here is
Camera collection v2.0: no root needed for AOSP based roms
- Mi A1 Camera
- Mi A2 Camera
- Google Camera
- Snap Camera (Lineage)
- Snap2 Camera (CyanogenMod)
NOT a exclusive Magisk version, it's system flash:
- Magisk provide portrait option on back camera (see above)
Mods by me :
-app launcher name (clear view of what camera u launch)
-app package name (avoid compatibility with another cam app like Gcam)
-authorization process (automatic without crash)
-icons
Tested on this excellent aosp based rom :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/development/rom-aospextended-rom-v5-5-t3798293
it's supposed to work on many custom roms, but i can't try them all, so please report wich one u use.
If you already have Snap camera (lineage) in your custom rom do not select.
Flash with twrp (Aroma Installer)
No root users version bugs:
-MiA1 and MiA2: Portrait mode back camera not available (portrait mode works on MiA2 front camera)
Rooted users (Magisk 16) version bug :
-MiA1 portrait mode crash (but the picture is OK with blur effect)
Many options works for each camera : i just can't list all of them here ..

Everything is working perfectly. except in "MI stock camera" where the preview is streched vertically, but the photos are good.
BTW, (a noob question) what's the difference between Gcam and aosp original cam? I can't figure why people is preferring the first one!

4K recording isn't working either... but then again this is the least buggy port for our whyred(Indian) I have encountered so far.

Android Pie and up, camera2 api required.
To get Gcam support, add these lines to /system/build.prop
persist.vendor.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
persist.vendor.camera.eis.enable=1
Click to collapse
When I add those two lines into build.prop and reboot the camera the app com.sdgsystems.camera2probe does not change the information about camera capabilities, it still shows
Code:
Hardware level
LEGACY (lacks new features provided by Camera2)
Capabilities:
• BACKWARD_COMPATIBLE (old API baseline)

Slow motion not working
I have created this thread to discuss the fact that if anyone was able to extract the Stock MIUI camera application for Redmi Note 8/8T (ginkgo/willow).
As we all know that using Gcam gives better photo quality but Gcam isn't fully compatible with our device. The wide angle lens, macro lens and I also believe the depth sensing lens don't work on Gcam hence not using the full capacity of the device camera hardware.
It will be great to have the Stock camera application alongside with Gcam so that we have better quality images using Gcam and also use the other camera features using stock camera application when needed.
Also anyone having the required knowledge to extract the Stock Camera application can provide a guide as I own the phone and am willing to get the application.
Well you're right, and in fact i'm already using both camera's applications when needed and i find this great!
It IS possible to extract the stock Camera apk simply using an app like Skit or ApkExtractorLite (but i strongly recommend the 1st one), no need to guide, it's simply as a couple of taps. Just done so on my phone as a test and it works. Maybe it's not exchangeable between different variants like from Global to India, China or another region, but it should be fine if on same version.
Have you tried doing it by yourself or you're in need of the APK file?

I own an Indian variant of device. It will be really helpful if you provide a link for the apk.
Also, users owning devices of different regions can post their Stock Camera apk by extracting the application using the above mentioned applications so that everyone can use them.
THANKS!

not work on any rom, when i instal always failed can't instaled
https://camera.aeonax.com/
Version 165 working fine on pie roms. On Android Q for now, macro and wide lens don't working.
Apk depend on lot of libs and Xml files, porting from Miui is hard cuz apk using Miui framework so no chance to work on any Aosp without smali debugging... Only easy way is to port from Mi A3 laurel_sprout becouse that apk don't depend on Miui framework and will work on any device running aosp with just few tweeks, but you need to find all libs, xml, and other files for camera and make Magisk module. All needee files are in system/lib-lib64 system/etc vendor/lib_lib64 vendor/etc

Xiaomi Devices already have ANX camera, which is pure port of MIUI stock cam for custom roms.
flash anx cam module from magisk download sections and you will be able to use all the lenses (in pie roms). Aux in Q roms are work in progress.
Link broken. could you plz update?
yo
Just extracting the original miui cam.apk (from/when in miui - and then flashing a custom rom - and then try to install that apk) - will not work - u cant install it (just says failed to install)
I just tried. - I am a total NEWBIE to this custom rom stuff - but yesterday - my 168 hours was finally over so that I could unlock bootloader (on my redmi note8t-willow) flashed Pixel experience and - well: (I found a rom made by darkJoker and installed that - but the camera had no 0.6x wideangle) - so then I tried the official Pixel Experience rom from download.pixelexperience.org/ginkgo - and it worked like a charm! The camera app is EXACTLY like it was in the miui 11. WITH wideangle AND macro (I had reservations because it said "ginkgo" and NOT willow - but wow - it worked and excellently so).

nothing for miui camera,
and just good xml for gcam
Look here: https://t.me/ginkgodev and send /get micam. Flash this via the recovery and apply the rights for this app manually before launching the first time.
hi, I just want to tell my test on ANXCamera_190 with MIUICamera_v4.3.002191
my device is Redmi Note 8 ginkgo rooted with PixelExperience
the official build was okay but its an older version of MIUICamera and with bugs cant save to sd card, so I got a trick to update its camera to MIUICamera_v4.3.002191.
you can follow this steps
-install ANXCamera as usual (i was using ANXCamera_190R).
-download MIUICamera_v4.3.002191 from apkmirror
-rename it to ANXCamera.apk
-use any file manager with root access to replace system/priv-app/ANXCamera/ANXCamera.apk with new downloaded file.
-restart
-enjoy
tested with PixelExperience plus 11 and 12
