if so, don't force to unlock your phone, because it will end up hard brick!
If it says no, it's no. Nobody but Sony can change that. Fact.
Well, hello to everyone. I bought Sony Xperia Z3 and bought code to unlock it for all sim cards and it works. When i visited Sony's site for unlocking bootloader i came across this post:
In your device, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
Tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
Well, my device cannot be unlocked because it says No..
so what can i do to unlock it?

What? Do you know what you are taking about..
Anyway, if the service menu says you cannot do it then it is impossible to unlock it.

For your device it is not allowed, so you can't unlock the bootloader.
/I've read some threads about trying to unlock the bl although service says "no" on other Devices like z Ultra:
It's not impossible to unlock the bl with official method if you know your device earlier had status allowed "yes".

its necessity if you want an aosp rom .....
Stock basted Roms on most Sony devices are pretty fast and solid in my opinion no need to really unlock unless your desperate for cm
So that's it? If the bootloader can't be unlocked officially, I'm stuck on Sony roms forever?
Wouldn't bother me so much but my Z3 has a horrible bug where it doesn't work with the bluetooth in my car without rebooting first every time. Was hoping to install CM12.
Could be a hardware fault the Bluetooth

It's not that I have any major issues with Sony roms, I'd just like to be able to flash other stuff in the future, should I want to.
I'm still going to keep the Z3, such a nice phone, nothing else really comes close to it for me yet. Maybe the M9, but I just got the Z3 for £260 from o2 and had it network unlocked, probably have been looking at least double that for the HTC.
You can still root the device and customize it. Tools like the XPosed framework are great at modifying specific parts of the ROM.
But to confirm: you're stuck. You can't unlock Sony's unlockable bootloader. I've heard of people trying to unlock it, I've never heard of a successful case.
Enjoy the phone, it's among the best available right now (imho).
Peace be upon everybody, and good morning/evening
Last night I remained using my PC for a whopping 9 hours of work to figure out how to unlock my E6633 bootloader - and I finally figured it out.
The whole process was bumpy and the Sony Mobile Developers tutorial didn't wholly work out, but it had some vital info for the process. I had to unlock the boot loader using the Flashtool (thankfully), and I had some lack of luck at the beginning, which involved a journey to find the lost driver for my Z5, and to install it in the Device Manager (took some time). And then I took a "detour", since facing another roadblock, by creating a folder in C:\Users\<User>\.flashTool\registeredDevices named by my devices code (that appears when you enter adb devices in cmd), then inside of that folder I've created a .txt named ulcode.txt which contains the serial code provided by Sony Mobile to unlock your boot loader. And I've gotta tell you, it was all a pain in the bass.
More frustratingly, this whole procedure has resulted in zero luck with rooting the goddamn device (thanks Sony), and now I'm stuck with an unrooted bootloader-unlocked device . I'm sure this requires taking another detour. I've failed in every way I know to flash the modified stock kernel for some reason. I've tried cmd to flash the kernel and it comes back with FAILED <Remote: command not allowed>. I've also tried Flashtool to root it directly, and it turned out to be non-working as well.
Now, I'm not going to complain about this whole situation, even though I'm recalling how easy rooting my good old Galaxy S3 was. I'm now looking for a solution for that last tiny bit of the puzzle, and I'm sure there are other fellow members who are facing the same hitch.
Cheers .
Is oem unlocking ticked? It sounds like your bootloader is still locked.
All I did to unlock mine was type the command Sony provided with the unlock code and unlocked it with fastboot, took maybe 10 seconds?

After unlocking the bootloader does the phone reset to factory settings? Just to make sure that you succeed unlocking.
Go to developer options and check if oem unlock is ticked
This difference in rooting experience that the OP had with the GS3 and now with the Z5 raises a question in my mind. Is the modding community more focused on popular devices? This is often a deal breaker for some people. If the 6P or the GS6 gets more ROMs and mods and faster root exploits than the Z5, then I myself would prefer those devices over the Z5.

It is indeed ticked and I'm positive that the bootloader is unlocked.
Yes I tried the easy way of doing it with cmd but it just didn't work out. Kept returning with FAILED <Remote: command did not succeed> and that's why I resorted to the other way of creating those files in the flashtool folders (as explained in the OP).

I went through the steps in that thread and without any problems until the part with
Code:
fastboot –i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I have checked the recognition of my device by entering fastboot devices and it recognized my device successfully.
The X's above being the code provided by Sony, the cmd window (of minimal adb and fastboot) returned with
Code:
FAILED (remote: Command did not succeed)
Although, the step prior to this one which is to unlock the bootloader using Flashtool has succeeded.
It's really mind-boggling...
As far as i know that unlocking bootloader will reset ur phone to factory settings.
And not sure but i think you need to remove a number from the code sony sent to you.
Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/general/guide-sony-xperia-z5-unlock-root-tweaks-t3298224
Bootloader unlock is under # STEP 1 - GENERAL GUIDE
I hope this will help
Also check if you're bootloader is allowed to be unlocked.
Type in dialer *#*#7378423#*#* (*#*#SERVICE#*#*)
Service info > configuration > rooting status.
If it says bootloader unlock allowed :YES you can unlock it, if it says NO u can't unlock it.
If it says rooted or unlocked, you've successfully unlocked it already.
UM, I have E6633 and everything works fine... I used flashtool to unlock bootloader.

Carrier lock, unfortunately as far as I know since the very first Z series impossible to unlock unless u contact the carrier and they unlock it for u.
Keep in mind that they might charge u for that.

Thank you all, guys! I tried everything you told me but guess what! Nothing worked unfortunately...
I want to install a custom ROM and recovery on my Z3 but I can't find a way to unlock the bootloader. Even with the FlashTool it doesn't seems to work. I tried downgrading to an earlier version but everytime my phone gets bricked unless I use the last version available.
Thanks
Go to dialer. Type *#*#7378423#*#*
In service menu navigate to service info, configuration, and you will see a line that says "bootloader unlock available: yes" or "no"
If it says no then you will not be able to unlock the bootloader as it is factory locked to this state.
If it says yes then follow the Sony guide to bootloader unlocking Z3. They will email you the unlock code and details of how to proceed.

Hello everyone,
This one seems to be a difficult problem for me so I chose to ask the xda community for help.
So I would like to get a Sony Xperia XZ Premium, but a permanently locked bootloader is a dealbreaker for me. I contacted the carriers and a few independent small stores in my country but so far all the places offer devices with disallowed bootloader unlocking. I even contacted Sony support in my country but they are not willing to provide any information regarding the unlockability of the bootloader. I feel like I am left with few options.
I live in Hungary but I will order the device from any country if the store offers reasonable shipping options and appears to be able to be trusted. I do not care about the warranty (it's nice but not q necessity).
Hope I am using the forum correctly. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hongkong version is bootloader unlockable and it should be easiest to buy on websites.
Hungarian Telekom also sells it factory unlocked... It's even stated on their website.
Uk unlocked XZP has an option in developer settings for unlocking the bootload but as it stands, you will lose ypyr DRM keys

Thank you, sounds good, I'll look into it!
Edit: What do you mean by 'Hongkong version'? The location of the device? I can only find two variants (G8141 and G8142) which only differ in the number of SIM trays, the G8142 being a dual-SIM compatible device.

Are you talking about bootloader unlockability? Not SIM unlockability? I would be surprised if it would be stated on the website, but I couldn't find any related information. Please elaborate.
Edit: nevermind, found it. But this only means that the device is SIM unlocked, which does not mean that the bootloader is too.

But in the service menu, what does it say for "bootloader unlock allowed", yes or no? Also if yes, where did you purchase the device?
I bought mine of Amazon.com. Factory unlocked with a working fingerprint sensor and under unlock bootloader, it says "yes"
The attached shows the option in my developer settings. I brought the device from carphone warehouse in the UK but any XZP that is not carrier locked should allow it. The service menu allows bootloader unlocking but it would still mean sacrificing our DRM keys at the moment.
Sorry for asking, but those drm keys are important? Which is the purpose of that keys ? Thanks

As far as I know they are needed for several Sony proprietary functions to work. E.g. the Bravia engine, a few Camera features (BIONZ sensor), noise cancellation etc. Prior to Nougat there was a method to bring most of the functionality back with a flashable zip but now it no longer works. So I guess that leaves the owners to wait for another solution.

As fas as I know (fix me if I'm wrong), if the service menu says bootloader unlock allowed: no, it does not only mean that you are locked, but also that there is no way to unlock the bootloader. Ever.
