Oreo Notifications - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Just got oreo on my Galaxy s7, Is there a way to disable the swipe and delete feature for notifications?
Prior to Oreo, you could swipe and delete a notification on the nav bar and it would still keep that email, message, notification fresh or the badge would still show. Now you swipe it away or off of your nav bar and the badge counter does not show a number.
Anyone know if there is a way to revert back to how it was?
Thanks in advance.

I don't have this device but, your best bet is to post this question within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device.

Good Luck!

4 Solutions to One Annoying android problem

I have seen multiple threads about people asking why android notification ro status bar shows not only the Contact but also the message received via
SMS, or
Whatsapp, or
other social applications.
Now rather surprisingly, this is covered in iphone ios where you can disable notifications and alerts but stil have badges for icons showing missed count. This thread is not for the missed count since we all know how to get them. The issue is how to get rid of the notification bar pull down which shoes your message to anyone using or testing or praising your phone.
There are three possible solutions to this,
Disable notifications.....this cant be done through android os because the only option we have is to disable sms notifications and not for other apps like whatsapp.
Lock the notification bar....this means that even if the notification icon is there, you cant pull it down. Or maybe a passsword to pull it down.
Auto Clear notifications.. This means a utility that automatically "CLEARS" the notifications as and when they are received. Which will mean we stil have the notification sound of a message, the unread count is stil there ons creen but notification is cleared from the status bar
Is there a decent notifications manager on the lines above for android?
Has anyone ever found a way to disable, hide, lock or autoclear the notifications.
I am not talking about hiding the task bar like in launchers. but maybe a way to PERMANENTLY HIDE the status bar.
Someone?
Go to /system/app (Your device is rooted, right?) and freeze/remove SystemUI.apk
If you don't understand what I am saying above, don't try it or it will bring you to more trouble.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I am on LG optimus 3d and root is not an option.
Nevertheless, i understand the framres.apk, but i would want to know more about system UI you mentioned? Mind shedding some light?
thanks
Any help fellows?

Android Lollipop lock screen notifications

Hey
I have moto g with android lollipop 5.0.1
I want to have some notifications on the lockscreen, like call, sms and messager, but not gmail notification. And i want that it appear in the regular notification bar when it unlock.
How this is possible?
As far as I know, the notification bar and the lockscreen notifications are the same thing. You can block an app in Settings -> Sound and notification but it will affect both of them. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct..
I would like only the most important notifications (call sms and messager) to show up on lock screen
Maybe a new launcher from the Play store can help you. Sadly I have never tried any of them so I can't recommend one.

I use Smart Launcher 2, because I like how simple it is to pick up a app
i still continue to search, but at this point, don't beleive so much that it is possible

[Q] Notification bar pop-up settings

On the S6 when you get a notification on WhatsApp for example, the notification blocks the whole notification bar and stays there for an annoyingly long time
So until the bar goes away you can't swipe down the notification bar.
What settings would I need to change in order to fix this? Maybe stop it blocking the whole notification bar every time I get a message.
Sometimes I get more than one message in a row so it will be there for a long time.
There is probably a really obvious answer for this but I have yet to find it
Any ideas?

Its a feature that sadly comes by default in Lollipop and there is no option to disable it. Unless the app specifically allows you to disable Headsup notifications theres nothing to be done. We are sadly stuck until Google or Samsung realize this is a ****ty way to receive notifications and gives us the damn notification ticker from kitkat back..
I just rooted my S6 just to get rid of this stupid heads up.
I found a guide using SQLite editor.
Open folder File then: /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
Choose Global and find heads_up_notifications_enable and set to 0 instead of 1. Save and reboot.
Worked for me

Not sure if you are aware of this but you can dismiss the message by swiping to the side. Similar to how you would if you were in the actual notification shade.
Took me awhile before I figured this out. I'm much less annoyed by it now.
So theres no way to get the kit kat notifications without root?

Handling lockscreen notifications in Nougat beta

I have watched several nougat beta videos and love that you can now reply within notifications from the Notification Center. But the other thing that I see nobody has addressed or shown a demo is how they are different in the lockscreen. So, if someone using the beta can help me (and others) understand how notifications work in the lock screen, that would be awesome! Basically I am looking for:
1) Can I expand a notification in the lock screen?
2) Can I initiate an action in the notification so it can then allow me to respond after I unlock? (Like, receive a sms, expand, hit Reply, now phone asks to unlock, I unlock and can reply to that sms).
Thanks!

Double topping opens the notification from the lock screen. Sweeping left or right dismisses them.

So on double tapping, it asks to unlock before showing notification?
you can set notifications to be hidden on the lockscreen, it'll just tell you there's a msg or whatever but won't show the contents

Removing lockscreen notifications?

Hello guys, I just wanted to ask whether it would be possible to remove lockscreen notifications but keep them on Always on Display?
I have already posted this question on Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus forum but I did not get the answer so I wanted to ask here.
Thank you in advance!
Not sure about the Sammies but my HTC has a separate menu item for Lockscreen messages. By always show I assume you mean when the phone is unlocked, so that when you're playing a game or something the message pops up. The quickest way to find out if you have the option to hide sensitive messages or not display them at all on your lockscreen is to go to settings and in the search bar at the top begin typing Lockscreen. It should popup in the results. Depending on the apps you use I know some have options within the app for when, where and how to display notifications. Handcent/Next SMS is one that comes to mind.
