Hi everyone!
First of all, I'd like to apologize in case I'm not posting this in the correct section of the forum.
That being said, let's get into this annoying problem I'm facing:
Recently mi s7 edge got the Oreo update and I decided to upgrade (shouldn't have done it) and here is when the issue started...
The way I like Whatsapp's notifications is the fallowing: no sound, no vibration and no pop up on screen.
The only thing I want is this: A simple icon on the status bar that indicates me every time I have a message

I don't want anything else, but what is above!
I have found no configuration to get whatsapp's notificacion the way I want it to be. On android 7.x it was as easy as this:
1: open notification bar
2: keep pressing any whatsapp notification for 2 second and select "importante level 3".
that was it!
Android 8 is way too different... I had to make something up; this is what I do to get it adjusted to the way I like:
importance level: "make sound" (so that it doesn't pop up on screen)
sound: silence (so that it doesn't make any sound)
up until that moment everything works fine, perfectly... BUT, after a period of time (I haven't counted it yet) the configuration I had just done goes away; it resets itself... and here is when I get so upset, feeling like I want to smash the phone and desintegrate it once and for all.
this is how it looks like after configuring it in the way I like:
and this is how it turns out:
Please! If you have anything that you think could help me out with this, leave it down below in a comment. No matter what, an app, an idea, whatever... leave it in a comment.
Thank y'all in advance!!

A picture is worth a thousand words... So they say. But this picture is missing one word - the name of the software. Suspects are: Qmenu, SPB pocket plus, Phonealarm, WM native behaviour. If anyone knows this, please share, I'm having weird battery problems (like shutdown on 30% and then after powering up, sitting on 1% for over an hour with active usage). I'd like to hunt this bug down and make a kill. Screenshot was made with auto-capture utility, because it only shows right before shutdown, so this bugger was hard to catch. Even now bottom of the image is missing, probably due to write operation being interrupted by shutdown. You can see behind the image in question there is PhonEx being meddled with.
Thanks.

I have no idea what it is (not even sure what I'm supposed to be looking at), but get a task manager like dotfred's or xtask and look up all the open windows. You should be able to track it down that way, and remove whatever's opening it up.
Well, thanks for the advice, but if You read carefully what I wrote, then You could imagine that it's really hard to pull that off in 2-3 seconds while the device is shutting down. Of course, if there would be a system snapshot kind of program - which would let me take a snapshot or log of all open windows in every 1-2 seconds - then it would be awesome, but I am not aware that the utilities You mentioned are able to accomplish that.
Hey there, I recently bought myself a new phone, a red phone because, well, duh-harro, red is my favorite color. Everything I own is either black and red or red. Computer, Jeans (yes pants), backpack, PS4, etc. You get the point. So I got a red phone running android 10. I will post the phones info below if it somehow plays a part. So like I do every time I get a new phone, I change my wallpaper, launcher, icons, etc. but... I have an issue my quick panel/quick settings/notification shade/whatever its ACTUALLY called, the buttons are this very annoying blue. Every time I go to my quick panel, I'm met with these blue (seemingly unchangeable) buttons just mocking me. My question is, Is there anyway to change the blue to a red? Hell, even no color would be better than the out of place blue.
I would hope there is a solution that doesn't include a notification panel app. Those always have a few buttons that dont work, disable on restart or just dont work well, so I end up having to use the reqular one anyway. Hopefully it doesnt require root either, I have my device's ROM and firmware images, but when I try to boot a magisk patched image, it just boots normally. I'm scared to flash the image, last time I did, it bricked (I flashed this same phone, so I bought a new one).
Device: Blackview A80 Plus (For some reason it isn't listed on XDA)
Android Version: 10/Q
User Interface: I think its the stock google one. Im not sure though, so I'll attach screenshots of the quick panel and settings menu.

I just got an Xperia 5III and my 5II is in a drawer. I was surprised at how different the operating system was on my new 5III compared to my 5II. There is one change that is negative. With the 5II if I was in an app and got a notification I could pull it down and read it.. With the 5III I can't. I have to return to the Home Page to pull down the notification. Is this just the way it is or did I screw a setting in my installation?
Other than that, I'm enjoying the 5III.

I actually haven't encountered this issue, so I'd suggest to search for a solution in settings menu
Oh, golly, why didn't I think of that? I've looked at everything in settings, even settings that shouldn't be remotely related. That's why I thought I would ask here.
Could you share screenshot(s) of your issue and of what you used to see it in 5II for the same? It's a lil hard to imagine based on this. Additionally, it could also be how Android 12 is setup vs. Android 10/11 in 5II.
If we can indeed see what you are facing, maybe that will help us try to find a solution for it.
I hate this. I'm a constant fiddler and this morning I fiddled with some settings in Google Messages. I was in shower when my reminder, from Google Calendar, came up. I waited till I got out of the shower, went to Google Photos on my 5 III, swiped down, and it worked. I went to my Oxford Dictionary and it worked, too. So, the problem that was irritating me is gone. AND I DON"T KNOW WHY!
Hey everyone, im always caught up trying to help old people with their phone. I feel like UI are designed to be unusable for logical people or those unfamiliar with the main function of everything being so discrete in view its effectively hidden or for first time users is represented By a sometimes unstandardized iconography. Anyway... can you help me out. One of the main issues is how every app opens to what you were doing last time pressing the icon. 90% of the time this is infuriating and gets older people lost. They usually have a different reason each time to use any app or access any feature, so going back to where they were last time makes the process of using their phone always different and unpredictable if they cant remember the fuk.. so every button press effectively dumps them somewhere different. They dont have a picture of order in their mind like me of what they will find a step back as the are often just stumbling forward. So the back button is confusing in general and home takes them right out and any app takes them right back to 4 steps ahead. Is there an over riding setting to make every app, even settings, messages anything and everything... when pressing the icon it starts fresh step 1. Probably better on RAM too. It has to exist or a front end dev needs stranglature. THANKS!
Elder people should use a phone with /e/OS pre-installed.
