If I open galaxy apps, it tends to pause my music player after a few seconds, sometimes it does it even if im just at the home screen with apps closed. Youtube will also pause randomly. I have axtually disabled bixby, turned off ALL notifications, allowed background data for youtube and samsung music player, and disabled optimisation for them.
Heres the weird thing. When I had poweramp, it didnt do it so long as I had "pause for long audio cues" disabled. And now I downloaded sound assistant and allowed samsung music player to play over any audio and then it doesnt pause. I cant seen to figure this out.
The root of the problem seems to be samsungs audio focus not working properly, but that aside, I cant find what service or app is triggering some invisible and silent audio cue. Any ideas?
I experienced something similar to this while I was traveling. I had the phone bluetoothed to the car. The only things that I had running (that I remember) were Google Play Music, Google Maps (with GPS enabled, of course), and the Weatherbug app since it was storming while I was driving.
The music app would randomly pause and I didn't know why. I haven't experienced it again since then (a couple weeks ago) but I haven't needed google maps since then, and honestly haven't been driving with all those apps open simultaneously since then. I can try it again tomorrow actually, as I have to drive about an hour out of town for a work assignment. I can report it back if you like.
This won't necessarily narrow it down since we may have totally different apps on our phones that may be causing it.

I tried to replicate the problem (even opening a lot more apps on my phone simultaneously) and couldn't get it to do it. I guess that's good for me. I know there have been updates to several of the apps I mentioned since I experienced that problem, though, too. Don't know what to tell you. I remember in the past sometimes deleting all of my bluetooth connections and then reconnecting sometimes helped. But who knows...
I'm traveling again today and next week so we'll see again. If I experience again I'll let you know.

i use my sirius/xm app for 2-3 hours on a typical day
ever since i got the G2X the stream cuts out about every 5-10 minutes. only way to get it to reconnect is to exit the app and open it back up.
anyone else have a similar issue?
*this is over the network or over wifi, neither one stays connected. (wifi is set to never sleep)
XM has been weird for me, as well. I'll get it looping - I can listen for 5-20mins, and then it will choke & start back at the beginning of that session. I have to pause it & play again to get it back on track.

yep exact same thing happens to me as well. same 5-10min loop will play over and over till i pause/play.
its definitely only an issue on the g2x because i never had any streaming issues with the n1. just the once in a while disconnect.
Same here - my Vibrant would choke occasionally, and even loop a minute or so forcing the pause/play. But the G2x is having worse issues - possibly related to the 4G/WiFi problem, I think.

I had a few issues with Sirius on my N1 with CM7, few random stops after 10-15 mins regardless of wifi or cell
Ive only used the app for about 30mins on my G2x but no issues so far
I listen to Sirius about 6 hours a day using the app. When I first started I had the issues mentioned here - mainly replaying/looping, as well as losing the connection. But they don't seem to be occurring as frequently now. I want to say that it might have had something to do with the network connection and switching between 2g/4g - I now lock it in using 4g (WCDMA Only in phone settings). My app does seem to go thru periods when it will shutdown and then when I click on it, it is restarting. The iphone app was much more stable.
There is chatter about "SiriusXM 2.0," which I hope they support with a new app release.
Now off I go to find where I need to reset all my stations for on Wednesday.... (If these a-holes are going to re-set the stations, they should go to the trouble of syncing them up between services!)

I can tell there's a framework issue in G2x because streamfurious doesn't work with G2x (broken pipe then stop) while it works with ALL other Android phones/tablets.
Hopefully the future 2.3 update will fix it.
I put CM7 on my G2x last night. I will see if it makes any difference.
Just out of curiosity, what kind of battery life are you guys getting when you stream Sirius?
If I'm streaming, I'm plugged in. I only stream when I'm driving to/from work.

G2x in effect....

i'm actually in the exact same boat. even if i'm streaming while at work i'm plugged in, so i'm not sure as to the battery drain.
i know on my n1 i never used to plug it in, even while driving to/from work. but since the battery is so terrible on the g2x i'm pretty much always plugged in.
It was stuck in a long loop today while listening to Howard Stern, such a long loop in fact i wasnt sure it was even a loop. it played out 3 or 4 times and went back to normal
Why arent there other apps to stream Sirius other than the official app? I'd like to get rid of my damn iPhone but one of the reasons I cant is because it streams Sirius so well, I use the MusicDock app.

Before the SiriusXM App had Howard, I used Orb Live along with the SiriusXM Streamer (http://www.permanence.com/sirius/) on my home pc to stream to my phone. I believe Orb is also available for Android. The Orb Stream can also be accessed via a website/interface, mycast.orb.com, if you don't want to use the app (or pay the $10 ~ which is kind of pricey).
Initially I had issues with SXM app on Android, but now I use it everyday for 6+ hours with minimal issues and running on 2g.
HTH
Thanks, ill give it a try

I've installed ORB Media and ORB Live both on my G2X - worked with the stock ROM but FC on the CM7 ones.
Today i was listening to Sirus in the car via the Starmate replay and noticed a few shorter loops, I wonder if the loops we have heard before are from the APP or if its something on the sirius side.
I haven't been able to listen to Sirius today since they changed the channel lineup - even using WiFi. Anyone else experiencing issues?
I am having the same looping issue on my Samsung Galaxy SII, no real fix for the problem?
Hello fellow posters,
I am having a very strange problem that shows its ugly head with Napster and Slacker Radio. The song will play for exactly 12 seconds and then stop. The song will then resume again several seconds later. The rest of the song plays fine from that point forward. I find it strange that it happens on both apps at the same exact time (12 seconds). MOG doesn't seem to have this issue.
I have a 4G signal with at least 3 bars when the issue happens. The problem doesn't occur is streaming from WIFI.
Is anybody else having problems with these apps with their G2X?
Thanks for your time,
Lance
I have the same problem. I was running the gingerbread leak thought it was that. So I'm back on stock same problem.

Napster and Slacker Radio
Does anybody have ideas on how to resolve the issue (song stops playing after seconds almost every time. The song then starts playing again after several seconds).
Is it a phone issue since it happens on both Slacker Radio and Napster? Any setting changes that can be done?
Thanks,
Lance
I haven't tried napster, but for slacker, try version 2.1.191. I loaded it with titanium backup. The last couple versions suck, and apparently not just on our phones/roms. The market comments are BAD. lol...
Not sure how to locate it if you don't have a backup. I'll see about getting the apk somewhere.. It was free on the market, so I can't see how it would be "piracy"...
I have the same problem with Slacker, so it's unusable on my G2x. If this isn't fixed sometime soon, I'll be canceling my paid Slacker account.
slacker updated again today. so far so good streaming over 3g
I had to turn on High quality mode in the settings menu, then the song would cache all the way in 3g. If it's in normal quality, they song doesn't cache all the way and will occasionally skip. Wifi works normally.
I've also disabled the local stream manger in slacker as well. Not sure if that has done anything
I tried again with the latest version and disabling the "local media server" option. Already had high quality enabled.
It actually plays music now. Thanks for the tip. Now if we could get music apps not to stutter when the cpu gets used... Sigh. A dual core should NEVER stutter music when multitasking.
Yes it what the "local Media server" not "local stream manager" . Sorry about that; I didn't have my phone on me.
Glad you're working. Not even sure what that feature does.
i deleted slacker. the damn app wants to run for so many actions. check it out using an app like autostarts. it starts running for a ton of different actions, things that don't even make sense.
winamp is almost as bad,but tolerable.

I disabled Local Media Server too (never noticed that option before), and it seems to be working properly for me too. Thanks everyone!
I have Napster and I have the SAME EXACT problem. The only way I got around it was to download the playlists so it wouldn't skip. It's extremely annoying. I've already informed LG about the issue a month or so ago. Its only on Napster tho. Not Rhapsody or Pandora.

This apparently just showed up with the last update (yesterday or today) and fixed my streaming issues in slacker too (only had time for a quick test though)
I have a problem with my phone randomly pausing the music. This is while using Google's Music app, and I can't seem to find any correlation. At first I thought it was after a certain amount of time (seemed to typically be 45 minutes of music playing) but today while I was running it paused 5 times in 2 hours, at various intervals.
Has anybody experienced this before?
yes. most likely its your connection, when im out it will pause. if im somewhere connected to a router it works with no problem
I searched for Google music app in the market, is this an apk I need to download or something as I'm not in the USA ? Or when you guys are saying google music do you mean the vanilla Android player ?

nah its basically an newer polished version of it.
i also has a cloud music option that i use all the time. my only gripe is that it messed up all my album art for some reason that i had in itunes.
Otherwise it works like a charm on Edge, 3G, and 4G
as far as i can remember its still in beta and was only available in the us market. i'm sure you can find the apk. around here somewhere
I've just confirmed today that it also pauses while listening to the Google Listen app. This time it happened after 1 hour (almost exactly) of listening to podcasts. And of course this was MP3s that were already downloaded, so it couldn't have been a connection problem.
Is this a bug in the Sensation software? I imagine if it was other people would be having this come up.

This happens to me all the time on my Bionic. I use both Google Listen and Google Music (all downloaded content). It's so infuriating. I just want to listen to music/podcasts without it pausing randomly.

Not that this helps, but I've noticed the same thing, with both Google Music and Listen, on both my Nexus One and Galaxy Tab 10.1. I don't get it; Bluetooth is turned off so there's no AVRCP or hardware pause button or anything like that...
My Droid Charge was randomly pausing music no matter what app I was listening to (Spotify, MOG, Music, etc). FINALLY when I loaded up Rdio a message popped up saying that they detected Google Listen in the background and that Listen has a known bug in which it opens randomly in the background and pausing any playing audio. I have since uninstalled Google Listen and now my music no longer randomly pauses.
BTW: If you want an alternative to Listen I suggest Doggcatcher, BeyondPod, or Sticher
Never had Google Listen installed and I get random pauses. Oh well.
I've been having this issue. From reading around, it sounds as though a lot of people experienced the issue because of Google Listen. However, like many others, I have experienced the issue without Listen installed at all. I'm looking into whether it could be down to any audio playing application that is set to refresh at a given time/interval. I have Pocket Casts installed, set to check for updates every hour. I have changed it to once a day at 6:00 am (I'm very unlikely to be listening to music then), to see if it makes a difference. I may also try and force it to sync while i listen to music to see if it pauses. I'll post my results when I have some.
I had problems when using several music players. What I did was adjust the amount of memory the phone uses and the problems disappeared.
FYI, for those who had Listen installed. Latest version of Listen fixes the problem:
What's in this version:
Fixes an issue in which Listen while in the background would improperly take audio focus from other apps.
I, too, had to uninstall it couple months ago, until they rolled out the latest update. Installed it few days ago, and never had a single issue since then.
FYI, Stopping pocket Casts didn't have any effect. Problem persists.
So i recently got a new phone, and while AA worked perfectly great with my Galaxy S7E, it seems to have a few issues with my Huawei Mate 9 (purchased from Best Buy's website, unlocked US version i assume). It seems its a UI issue Huawei has a problem with across multiple devices as to why phone calls don't show on the AA screen, so i guess there isn't a whole lot i can do about that one, but Google Play Music about 3/4 of the time says the song is playing but i don't hear anything even though the volume is up. Is press my steering wheel controls to move it to the next song, and i have to keep going until i find a song that'll play. I thought maybe it was a cached music issue so i cleared the google play music cache, but nope. Reset AA, reset my headunit, uninstalled AA and reinstalled, pretty much most troubleshooting steps. Thought i managed to fix it last night, but nope. The issue came back this morning. Everything else seems to work fine in AA but that. I stream all my music thru my own library thru google play music so its kind of an important app for me, so its frustrating that this is happening. Everything works fine if i just play music over bluetooth, but doing it thru AA causes this issue and im not sure why. Any ideas? Thanks.
