Rooting and updating Verizon SCH-i915 - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is this the right forum for getting info on rooting and updating Android OS for a Verizon SCH-i915 Tab 2? I rooted my SCH-i915 with King Root, but Super SU keep reporting "Binary Occupied". I did a factory recovery to remove the root and would like to reroot and possibly find a newer Android OS than 4.1.2. What should I use to root the SCH-i915 that will solve the Super SU "Binary Occupied" problem? I could not find an OS update for the SCH-i915 on the XDA site. Is there another device OS that I could update the SCH-i915 to, I don't care about the 4g LTE as I only want to use the SCH-i915 as a WFI device? Thanks for any help.

Hi! It seems you're in a sticky situation with the GS3, 4.4.2, root and Knox.
I found an excellent thread that has some good info about everything you've asked about. You could ask further questions there as well. But read it all very carefully!!

cyanogenmod on s3

hey guys, so im sure many have tried to put cyanogenmod on a VZW Samsung Galaxy s III with 4.4.2 OTA on it. but couldnt. im really looking to put CM11 on it. im very much so new to rooting, and flashing roms, but i already rooted my device, and flashed the stock firmware back, due to not having a CWM back up and getting "system software not authorized by verizon" warning.
so my question.
can i downgrade my firmware from 4.4 to earlier to have an unlocked bootloader without bricking it? do i need to go to 4.3 and then 4.1.2?
because before 4.3 it had an unlocked bootloader.
I really want CM because i cant stand touchwiz anymore. thanks guys . help a newb out
oh and. should i use towel root? or another rooting method
Your now on the locked bootloader and you cannot downgrade to another firmware. You can root with towelroot but that's truly about all you can do
From my CM11 S3

Any root method for SM-J320A

I bought an unlocked Galaxy J3 (SM-J320A) and i badly want to root it. The 320A is supposedly AT&T, but there's no bloatware or anything on it. The phone doesn't say AT&T anywhere. I'm using it with TracFone. If anyone knows how to root it, please post. By the way, I'm on Marshmallow 6.0.1.
Any news about this? I have the same problem.
According to a post i found on twitter by srsroot, their app is supposed to be able to root this phone (J320A). I tried it and it says rooting complete but the phone isn't rooted.

What is the best method to upgrade Android on rooted phone?

My Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime 2 (G611F) had Android 7.1.1 when I rooted it a few years ago and I have never upgraded it to a newer version for fear of losing root. It has TWRP and SuperSu installed and I confirmed I still have root. What is the best method to upgrade without losing my data? I have Odin on a Windows laptop and I have adb and fastboot on my Unbuntu desktop. I also downloaded Magisk apk and Firmware SM-G611F — Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime. Thanks
