wifi wont turn on after installing twrp and rooting - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

I just unlocked oem using fastboot, installed twrp and then flashed the images as shown in the guide in oneplus 6 forum.
but for some weird reason the wifi now refuses to turn on. i tried everything from rebooting to wiping dalvik and stuff.
what am I missing here?

There are many methods of twrp out, which on did u use, we need more info, what I suggest is goto twrp.me and download the official TWRP installer zip for OnePlus 6 enchilada, no need for flashing the IMG via fastboot since u already have twrp, flash zip via twrp and install magisk

Did you fastboot boot into TWRP, then flash twrp-pixel-installer-sailfish-3.0.2-0-RC1.zip? Were you stock prior?
Installed img through pc then installed the zip file with twrp. I found a article here stating I need to flash stock ing to get back to normal

Yes, you are not supposed to install twrp, just boot into it. If you install it by mistake, you go back, flash stock boot.img, and do it again.
This is from Dees_Troy's post located here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel/development/twrp-alpha1-pixel-devices-t3500314
Installation:
If you already have TWRP installed: Download the latest zip and install the zip using TWRP.
If you do not already have TWRP installed: Download both the img and the zip. Copy the zip to your device. You will need to have fastboot binaries and the correct drivers installed. Power off your device completely. Hold volume down and turn on the device. Your device should now be in the bootloader. Connect the device to your PC. Open a command window and run the following command from the proper location:
fastboot boot path/to/twrp.img
This will temporarily boot TWRP on your device. If you are using a lockscreen pin/pattern/password and do not get prompted to enter your passord, reboot to the bootloader and try again. Go to install and browse to the zip and install the zip. If you are currently rooted with SuperSU, you will need to reflash the stock boot image before installing TWRP. After installing the stock boot image, follow the instructions for installing TWRP. Once TWRP is installed, grab the very latest SuperSU released on 2015-11-15 or later and install SuperSU.
If you accidently flash TWRP to your device using fastboot instead of temporarily booting the image, you will need to download the latest factory image for your device and reflash the boot image.
@Tulsadiver First off, thanks for the post on this. I installed TWRP to slot A by accident and am finding myself in this same predicament (though I found that I can boot by switching to slot B). I found another post online that mentioned what you commented on, specifically:

Having previously downloaded Oreo 8.1 and setup root, I had loaded into TWRP, went to install, selected the TWRP zip, and installed (as per what you had suggested and what I read earlier). This is what led me to the current problem, making me realize that I'm missing something in the description. Now, I likely don't need to flash TWRP (I don't develop and used flashfire to do upgrades) but my last upgrade left me rootless and I felt having it installed would make life a little easier. I was hoping to ask for a clarification on the TWRP install.
Also, you mentioned flashing the stock img. Do you mean from the android OTA downloads? I was getting a corrupt file error when I tried flashing that to slot a...

Things have changed with 8.1. you have to root with magisk. From slot b you cannot fastboot flash boot_a boot.img?
I believe the instructions now are to boot to TWRP, install TWRP pixel installer zip, then flash Magisk zip
Here is where TWRP files are here

I hadn't tried yet. I was worried about messing things up further without asking for help online first. I'll give this a shot later. Does boot.img refer to the android image file? (ie: what I'd download from the OTA site?)

Yes, the zip file that is located where the flash-all.bat is. Unzip it and flash the boot.img.
I bought a Pixel 2 on swappa. It had different bootloader's on slot a and slot b. I couldn't flash updates when on slot a. I thought I was hosed but from slot b I could flash to slot a so now I'm fine. Slot a had a preview bootloader.

Honor View 10 EU Bootloop after Flashing TWRP and [ROM][berkeley][9.0] AOSP Pie

Hello Guys,
today I tried to flash the custom Rom mentioned above because I am tired of that Current Stock Firmware.
The thing is now I managed to end up in a bootloop with nothing working anymore
What I did:
1) I Installed TWRP according to the following guide https://www.the***********.com/install-twrp-recovery-honor-view-10/
2) Because everything was encrypted in TWRP I followed this steps: https://forum.xda-developers.com/doogee-mix/how-to/fixed-how-to-remove-data-encryption-twrp-t3757595
3) The data was encrypted, but every time I tried to flash Magisk it says "Zip file is corrupt" I tried different versions but 15.4 Emui 8.0 should be the correct one but gives me that error.
4) I tried to flash the Rom with TWRP - same error.
5) I tried to flash the Rom using Minimal ADB And Fastboot (ADB SIDELOAD) according to the following guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oo2cErfUSSE and now I ended up with a bootloop.
What did I miss or where is the glitch in the Matrix here, I dont get the problem
Thanks in advance!
either the Magisk.zip is corrupt or Twrp is not compicatible
after flash Twrp make sure clean the entire system, then flash rom/root by msgisk and do decryption
the proper decryption .zip can flash by twrp is here: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=5862345805528043263
just clarify your device is BKL-L04 or L09
that is very important!

Can't install LineageOS

Hi
I have problems to install LineageOS on my new OnePlus6. I tried to install LineageOS with the guide on https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/enchilada/install. If I follow the guide exactly step by step no OS is starting and I can't boot into recovery because (I think) twrp isn't installed (just black screen with blue led). But also if I first boot twrp with fastboot boot 'twrp.img' and after install the twrp.zip, no OS is starting after sideload or flash the 'lineageos.zip'. I think, the install doesn't finish correct. In the terminal on my debian I can see, that the installprocess ends at 47%. But I'm not really shure if this is the problem and if it is, how I can solve it. Probably in this thread the same problem is described: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/help/lineage-doesnt-boot-black-screen-light-t3958351 Unfortunately no solution is available in the thread.
Now I flashed the stockrom (https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-6-t3796665) and have done all updates but don't know how I can install twrp and after LineageOS. I hope somebody can help me. Thanks
Do you have the latest ADB version? Instead of sideloading you can try just transferring the zip files (with e.g. "adb push lineageos.zip /sdcard/") and then installing directly from TWRP.
Make sure you do all the wipes / formats mentioned in the guide. Transfer and flash the lineageos.zip. Then directly after you should flash the twrp.zip Then reboot back into recovery and flash Magisk / Gapps etc if needed. Then finally reboot to system.
Also read this guide if you haven't already as it explains a lot about how flashing ROMs on OnePlus 6 is different to many other older phones.
Hi and thank you makeyourself
I tried the following steps:
1. starting fastboot
2. fastboot boot twrp-3.3.1-2-enchilada.img -> twrp starting up
3. adb push twrp-installer-3.3.1-2-enchilada.zip /sdcard/ -> transfer ok
4. adb push lineage-16.0-20190922-nightly-enchilada-signed.zip /sdcard/ -> transfer ok
5. in twrp Wipe -> Format Data
6. in twrp Advanced Wipe -> System
7. in twrp install lineage-16.0-20190922-nightly-enchilada-signed.zip
8. in twrp install twrp-installer-3.3.1-2-enchilada.zip
9. reboot to recovery
After this steps I got the same problem as before. Before the reboot to recovery, twrp showed the message "no OS installed". So I think, the zip weren't installed correctly. Now, I have the black screen with the blue led. Can you find out what I did wrong?
Edit: Now, I can't also boot twrp. Also if I do a fastboot boot twrp-3.3.1-2-enchilada.img nothing happens.
Fastboot to twrp (newest blu spark should be fine, or black twrp)
Flash twrp zip
Reboot to twrp
Wipe data, cache.
Flash recommended oos
Flash twrp
Reboot to twrp
Flash recommended twrp (yes...... Again)
Flash twrp (yes... Again, recovery is lost after rom Flash ALWAYS)
Reboot to twrp
Flash LOS or any other custom rom
Flash twrp (rom Flash, so twrp is lost like I said)
Reboot to twrp
Flash magisk (IF ypu want magisk)
Flash gapps (IF ypu want gapps)
Flash kernel (IF I like to run another custom kernel)
Boot
Enjoy
Thank you whizeguy, I'll try this. But just one question about "Flash recommended oos". Which OxygenOS can I flash (this full OTA? https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6-oneplus-6t-oxygenos-9014-906/) and why I have to do this? Sorry if it is a bad question.
You Flash The oxygen OS version that is recommended in Los thread, simple as that.
You have an a/b device, vendor partition (could be other files needed aswell, not 100 % sure) is needed to Flash custom, IF you did Amy research you'd finns some good info. Also for faster answers in The future: post your issue in the thread for LOS, that way you would get help from People Who uses it, knows The exact version you should use and what not
Hey whizeguy, thank you very much. Everything works perfect now. But why for heaven's sake do I have to flash oos and why the guide on the LineageOS site don't tell me this way?
Wow idk what happened here. Mistakenly replied to this thread. Apologies.

Bricked device?

I unlocked the bootloader through mi unlock tool. I flashed official twrp from their site, 3.3.1-0-violet.img but when I tried booting it into recovery, it got stuck at twrp logo. Then I learnt that it's necessary to wipe userdata using fastboot first so I did that. Then, when twrp started, it was unable to install/wipe/mount any partition. Tried installing magisk using sideload, did work but then device stopped booting.
Figured out a way on how to fix the mount issue, twrp working fine, but then I accidentally wiped /system. Now my device only opens in fastboot, even though I've tried installing, erasing and reinstalling that twrp recovery as well as a couple of others I found in pixel experience forums for my device.
I've got all the stuff needed to install pixel experience, fcrypto disabler, xiaomi latest firmware and the rom itself. Can anyone guide me on how to install it using fastboot?
Also whenever I try booting the recovery image straight from fastboot, it says that command failed, too many links.
I can't boot into recovery via vol up + power button, fastboot doesn't recognize command fastboot reboot recovery.
you need to install stock rom ,then flash twrp but newer unofficial twrp and orangefox twrp boots into recovery even if system partition is empty.
try installing unofficial twrp or orangefox.
orangefox is recommended .

How to flash a rom on oneplus 6.
Boot twrp: fastboot boot twrpxxxxx.img
Fash firmware OOS 10.3.9 or whatever latest is for your device. Get from repo on guides section here or from oxygen updater app. Make sure it's for your device. Don't flash global OOS on tmobile model...After flashing OOS latest, flash EvoX rom, flash twrp installer zip, flash finalize zip, reboot recovery, flash magisk latest. I use canary, format data-swipe to confirm in twrp, reboot system.
That's how you flash a rom on oneplus 6. Finalize is a script that can be found with simple search here on xda that copies firmware to both slots so you don't have to reboot recovery and flash OOS again. I used a Oneplus 6t a year prior to what I use now Pixel4XL and I flashed everything known to mankind available for it just this way.
Boot twrp,
Flash OOS,
Flash EvoX,
Flash twrp installer zip,
Flash finalize zip,
Reboot recovery,
Flash magisk
Format data-swipe to confirm yes,
Reboot system.
Update magisk once booted via magisk manager app icon in app drawer.
You should be able to hold down power+volume up and get in to bootloader node again and do this. Just keep holding them down till you see the "start" screen and let go, boot twrp from fastboot...
