Automatic WIFI Connect Issue - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

Hello ,
At my work i connect to WIFI using my domain user name and password but my phone not connect automatically when i turn on the WIFI but it work everywhere else , i checked with my colleague using HTC U11 also but it's same issue , please note other people are using Samsung or any android doesn't have any issue even IPhone they can connect automatically since it's already saved.
any help please
Thanks.

I have the same issue since I've had my HTC-U11. When I go home, my phone auto-connects to my WiFi. When I go back to work, I have to go to Settings/Wifi, then have to click on my saved network in order to connect. When I switch (move around) to different access points at work, it disconnects and I have to manually select my saved network in order to connect again.

[Q] Wifi signal?
Does anyone get a weak wifi signal with their Nexus S? Whenever I connect to my at home wifi I never get full bars and something I'll just randomly lose signal. Also it seems to go pretty slow. I used to have the Mytouch4G and it work flawlessly with the wifi. Anyone else having this problem?

OMG yesss I do.
Just about a room away I loose signal, almost completely. = 0
IDK, but I see more flaws every day that passes
Mine's been working fine over Wi-Fi. I'm pretty glad it does too, because my only data option with it is Wi-Fi..
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
Wifi has been working great for me. It reconnects automatically and doesn't drop. The signal seems on par with my nexus one.
Speed wise, is it on par with the 3G network?
[Q] Wifi does not work anymore after rooting :(
So, I unlocked my Android 2.3.1 and rooted it ... But if I click on wifi so I could connect to my modem it says Error and wont even search or anything. I tried reseting too but still no luck .. What is the problem and how to fix this ??
That's odd, I didn't have any issues with wifi as I connected to Android Market to downloaded ROM Manager during my rooting process earlier. Have you tried flashing a custom ROM on your device to see if it'll fix it?
No I didnt, would that work? .. A friend told me to install a new "kernel" but I dont want to overwhelm my android with custom made kernels .
your problem is you used one of the quick methods of rooting your phone, which used a kernel that wasn't from the exact rom you have.
if your on stock 2.3.1, you will need the stock 2.3.1 boot.img, and then you'll need to root it manually the long way via adb command line. search the nexus s development section for how-to's. they are all there.
i too had this problem, had to install MoDaCo ROM to fix it, but i dont regret rooting, i now have custom rom and over clocked cpu on the nexus s
you have two options, either to flash NANDROID backup to un-root and return to stock or install a custom ROM, i choose MoDaCo bcoz of its UI, it looks and feels just like the stock one.

Yes, that's the point of MoDaCo roms, to make minimal changes to the look and feel of the phone, but to improve performance with his custom optimizations.

[Q] Nexus S Wifi Settings - force close
Hi all,
Just got a new Nexus S - all was well at home. Took it to work today and noticed something very odd. It was fine until entering the wifi settings menu - at which point it dramatically slowed down. I got two 'not responding,close or wait' messages before being able to join the network.... all other settings are fine - just the wifi area.
Weird - wondering what could cause this... too many wifi networks broadcasting (am in middle of London)...?
Anyone seen anything similar?

Too many WiFi around you shouldn't cause that.
Try rebooting and setting again if you haven't already.
Hmmm - rebooted and still have the same issue. At home, or even a block away from the office it all works fine. But in the office itself, although it connects and uses the wifi fine, the settings page is VERY slow to load and gives me the wait/force close message.
Out of interest - I also have 'wifi analyser' from the marketplace. This too is very slow and unresponsive when in the office.
So - it is definately something to do with the wifi here.... but have not got a clue what. Before I join the wifi, or when I am physically somewhere else it all works fine.
Wifi is WPA-TKIP, the key is a very long jumble of letters but surely that is not an issue.
Strange eh!!!

[Q] Possible WiFi problem?
Hi there, just bought a Nexus S, also used to have Nexus One.
The thing is for some wireless networks even though I enter the password correctly, it says connected and still there is no connection at all. (I mean browser tries to connect but at the end it says page could not be found) I even tried with an ad-hoc network that I created with my laptop but still the problem exists.
At home I'm able to my network without a problem. The type of network I'm trying to connect is: WPA2 Personal with AES. Is there any known issue about AES at Android system? Afaik there is no way to change the encryption used right?
this might actually not be a nexus S issue.
some modems/switches/routers are configured to block certain devices/applications/package's
we have a modem and router with both wifi.
but my psp/nDS cant connect to the modem,but can connect with the router

i have a similar problem. My Nexus S connects to my router only within a few hours after a router reset. Then it stucks at "obtaining ip" and never connected before I do another router reset.
My home wifi is WPA2 type, and for WEP type wifi my NS never got connected.

HTC Rhyme wifi problem

Hi Guys
Just bought a Rhyme for the wife, was working fine but after updating to ICS the phone doesn't detect my router but detects all the others and I can also connect to the others (the open ones).
I have tried factory reset and downloading the RUU and manually flashing it but still the same problem.
I have also searched the net and the XDA forum but no luck, any help will be really appreciated .
Thanks
Since it's your router, you must know the necessary information to connect to it. Try adding a network manually (type in SSID & password).
Hi
Thanks for your reply.
I've tried that but doesn't detect it at all, says "not in range" even though I'm sitting next to it.
All my other devices work though.
Tried resetting the router? If that doesn't work, remove wireless security on the router & try again.

Check in your WiFi settings and make sure it is NOT saved in the list of previous networks. If it is saved, press it and select the option to forget the network. After that, disable and then re-enable WiFi. If you network pops up, then connect and you're done. If it doesn't connect, then follow the directions below.
If your WiFi network is not save in teh list, or it does not show up after following the directions above, try to manually install the network. This is accomplished differently based on your Android version. It may be in the settings menu in WiFi to manually add the network. Jellybean has a + symbol at the bottom of the page to add one manually. ICS and GB both have it hidden in the WiFi menu. Simply input your SSID and password, and tap connect.
Thanks guys
I've reset the router and it works if I leave the name of the ssid alone but when I change it back to what it was before it stops detecting it again.
So I reset the router again, just added a password and all's well.
Funny problem though.
Good to go, thanks & thread closed.

[Q] Hotspot/ICS issue

Did a search and came up with nothing...
I am flashed with CM9 running ICS on my SGH-T959W.
Ever since I rooted my phone, I am not able to use my phone as a portable hotspot on either of my laptops (work and home). It will connect but then the network icon says limited connectivity and I am unable to access any data.
It works fine on my Ipad. It also worked on both of these computers pre-root.
If you have the connection saved on your laptops you may delete them and reestablish them or double check ssid names and the password. Hotspot will work on CM9 with laptops.
The same thing happens to me, all you have to do is be patient. It takes all little time but the screen that asks you what type of connection it is will pop up. Public, home, etc.
After picking one you'll have no problems. Happens every time I use the hot spot thing

Thanks! This worked perfectly. I went into my network and sharing center - > manage networks and deleted the Android connection, then restarted my computer and bam!

Wifi Mobile Tethering

Hi All,
I hope im not duplicating this question ( i have searched with no results).
Recently Ive been having a problem with the mobile tethering from the tablet. My phone shows connecting, connects for a few seconds and disconnects. This happens a few times then it shows the message Authentication Error.
Im trying to connect my Note 5 which is on 5.1.1 but the tablet is on 5.0.2.
I have tried the following already:
Changed SSID to a different name;
I changed the broadcast channel to a specific channel;
I cleared data of Google Services Framework (messed up the syncing of my Google account but resolved this);
I changed the password;
I changed from Allowed devices only to all devices and back;
Removed security and password to connect;
Deleted the device as an allowed device and re-added it.
On the Note 5:
I forgot the network and reconnected;
I reset settings in the backup and reset menu (this is missing on the tablet)
The phone connects to other wifi networks.
Ive noticed the issue starts in my office but at home I manage to connect sometimes. It does disconnect from time to time.
This started about a month back, before that it connected without any issues. Any ideas what i should check or reset to resolve this? I don't want to do a factory reset. Connecting via bluetooth works perfectly still.
Thank you,
Any help please?
Any ideas why the tethering would not work at certain locations?

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Can't Connect to Wifi - "Authentication Problem" - Help please

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Can't Connect to Wifi - "Authentication Problem" - Help please
Recently got a new Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X from Goldway with the Global ROM and ever since, I've been unable to connect it to my home wifi. I've entered my password numerous times along with my older phone. It connects just fine to my mobile broadband and my older phone acting as a hotspot.
The same error message shows up 'Authentication problem' and asks me to repeat my Wifi network password. The thing is, 8/10 it fails to connect, the other 20% it just magically connects on its own with no input from me whatsoever but would never connect when I want it to.
Also of note is that when I have no network key, it connects perfectly.
I have the latest 'MIUI Global 8.2 | Stable 8.2.4.0(MCFMIDL).
From the phone's side, I've tried:
Forgetting the network from my phone.
Restarting my phone.
Restarting my phone from the Updater app using the recovery restart option
Soft resetting my phone from the settings menu
Making sure the time zone is set in the right place
Phone is currently connected but if I switched off the phone's wifi and turned it back on, I'll be back at square one.
From the modem side:
Currently using WPA-PSK encryption
I've changed the network key
Reset my modem settings
Changing the encryption type (WPA2, WPA, WEP, etc) - as I said above, having no protection means my phone connects just fine
Internet is running just fine, I even try to connect at the same time as my old phone which connects instantly.
My phone is currently connected to my network by sheer luck (It connects on its own after many 'Authentication Problems' ) but if I was to restart or turn off its wifi the same issue would be back.
Currently stumped on what else I could do because this would be my first Xiaomi phone - any suggestions?
Got the same issue. There was a thread i read. Reset your phone and usw a different country location. I will try it now
