Updated to 5.1.6 yesterday and used my phone pretty heavily today battery life is great screen brightness between 50 and 75% and at 35% left I have had a SOT of 5 hours and 10 minutes!
Testing SOT. Good so far.
I've got 5 hours SOT , include playing PUBG 2 hours ?
I'm about to call it a night. Good run so far. Better than 5.1.5.

Come on that is impossible, one game of PUBG that is roughly ~ 25 mins on wifi takes away 13% battery...
What settings do you play at...? I play at smooth detail level and extreme framerate setting.
And my battery for one game falls by 13% approx.

I don't really play games. I have a live wallpaper running, WiFi Bluetooth and gps always on while maintaining from 15 to 30% brightness throughout the day. I have Google wakelocks disabled and I use Facebook on chrome web browser.
I also have a bad battery life after 5.1.6 update

So did the new OTA fix the battery issues?
I got better battery hour even after gaming fb wasap 9gag snap some picture & videos. Battery still can hold more than 1day. Applause for OnePlus 6.

SOT will also depend on standby time of your using your phone constantly with low standby time then you tend to get more SOT

There have never been any battery life issues, it's an ancient belief that started with the OnePlus ONE.. Battery life is always measured by your last battery cycle. If you barely use your phone for one cycle, you will have a high SOT for the next battery cycle, if you keep playing games all day, the algorithm will estimate a lower SOT. The time when you decide to start charging your phone again will also have in an impact on SOT. It's all about ESTIMATION, not precise and factual stats.
It's definitely (a bit) better than 5.1.5. I can get 50h of standby with 6.5h SOT:

Clear Google Play Services Data
If you are not aware, Google Play Services is where most of the things happen on Android. However, a buggy Google Play Services update or behaviour might result in Android System battery drain. The straight fix to this can be wiping Google Play Services data from Android Settings.
To wipe data, go to Settings > Apps > Google Play Services > Storage > Manage Space > Clear Cache and Clear All Data.

Many things can cause battery drain, the music player, your settings, depends on type of use, bad cell reception, etc.

Right.
And i too have the 2% drops often, but there for when i use it, it stays 10 minutes on the same %, so no problem. For me its normal to lose 1% battery for 5 minutes screen on. So i don't care if it stays 10 minutes on the same % and then drops 2%

Apparently according to a Google employee, those apps are absolutely useless as they only delete some log files, so it doesn't really affect the battery life at all. Can't provide a source right now, but you can easily google it.

The battery "calibrates" itself automatically when you charge over 90%. In other words, the batterystats file is resettet, the same what these apps are doing.

Yeah, i read through it, but i really can't help. Even i don't know why some of you get such a bad battery life. All i know is, that I'm really satisfied with my battery. Even yesterday, i took 300 photos, had 4 and a half hours screen on and still 18% left when i went to bed.
Hey guys, I almost got around 10 hours of screen on time with casual usage. So, I think I can easily get around 7 hours with gaming. How is your battery performing?
Got about 5.5 hours of SoT with some heavy use. Was gaming (idle game that keep the screen on), along with some pokemon go. All while downloading a few thousand songs, updating apps, OS etc. Considering my s6 lasted about 1.5hrs if I did this I'm well satisfied.
Also charged it before bed, and was at 99% when I woke up 8 hrs later, even with all social media apps installed.

I was able to get over 10 hours SOT regularly with my OnePlus 5. I'm hoping it's just as good if not better. But I'd settle for about the same due to the larger screen with more pixels.

Like avoiding half charges and all that kind of stuff?

Actually the best way to maintain a lithium battery would be to charge it from like 60 to 70 percent and never let it go above or below that.
More realistically, plug your phone in to charge up to somewhere around 80% when you get a chance throughout the day, avoiding letting it go below 40% when possible. Don't worry about charging your phone to 100% when you might need the battery though (for example don't risk getting lost without a phone for 911/GPS on a hike), just mainly avoid leaving plugged in WHILE it's at 100% and definitely do not store it at full or nearly/completely dead charge for long periods.
The charging port is a completely separate ribbon for the OP6 that should be stupid easy to replace so my advice on that would be don't worry about damaging your charging port as long as you're not handling your phone constantly while it's plugged in. For me, I'm going to wait until the charging port assemblies get really cheap and then buy maybe 2 or 3 for future use, so I won't have to worry about wearing out the phone, it's certainly more desirable to open it up and lose the water resistance than to have to buy a whole new phone simply because of a non functional charging port.

Gaming mode uses a lot of battery juice?....i m so disappointed that i thought of even returning it:crying:
This is what i m getting
Here
I'm consistently getting over 2 days and 8h SoT, which contrary to many reports, is better than I got on my 5T and maybe slightly better than my 5.
No ones use case is the same though. I'm currently off work, so that contributes a lot to it, otherwise it'd be closer to 6-7h SoT during the day, due to between 6 and 8 hours of bluetooth music streaming whilst working.
I have 30 apps total, most of which are hibernated due to lack of use thanks to doze. What I do use regularly is Chrome, Youtube, Sync Pro, and Fenix.
Auto brightness on, location disabled, random crap like the Google app disabled as voice assistants are still half baked, even Google Assistant.
Very pleased with the battery so far. This was my result this weekend. WiFi/4G on, no BT and no location services. On a regular working day I get about 5 hours SOT as I use WhatsApp a lot more and have location services turned on.

I have installed Oxygen B12 and i flash SmurfKernel (i select power-save mode from Spectrum app) and NoLimits 4.5a magisk mod. For some reason battery is draining faster than before and i dont know whats the reason. Can anyone help me?
Same here!
I use stable 9.0.4, Smurf Kernel and xxx mods. My usage varies between 5 and 7 hours SoT, with Maps, Games and music. Of course, if I push the phone harder it will provide less SoT. Are your apps in check? Use BBS to check for wakelocks and abnormal processes running. It will give you clues as to why your battery is draining faster than usual.
The battery drain 1% per hour during the night and 1% every four minutes of sot. On the 9.0.4 the discharge was 1% every 6 minutes of sot and 3% or 4% during the night (10h),
Same here. I just switched back to the stock kernel last night. based on my personal opinion the stock kernel is way better for battery life. The only differences I've noticed after using Smurf kernel was that the interface was a bit smoother.. that's about it. Your sacrificing 1-2 hours of battery life for a bit of fluidity. For me it's not worth it.

Nope. No other mods than kernel + xXx.
I have not rooted my phone yet or installed any custom kernel etc.
The battery drain I noticed increased after the latest 12 beta update from OTA.
I am also noticing quite allot of heat coming of my phone.
Hi all !
Small question, is it possible to have more than 4/5 hours of screen with this phone? I'm on beta 18 (but it was the same with my stable 10.0.8) but have a pretty high battery drain without really understanding why (no heavy app use) ...
I would like to switch to Lineage, do you think I could have some improvement? I had also tested the Elemental X kernel on the stable and it worked well, the two combined would be okay?

I did mostly google apps so far. I'm still under setup and tweaking I just barely got the device. Had to flash back and forth. Tmobile sim unlock. And now I'm kinda setup and I'm averaging it seems about 5 hours. With about 40 % left.
Beta 19, 2k, 90hz, no tweak or anything except using greenify, battery saver is always off, auto brightness on, double sim card, no wifi or bluetooth usage, I use every app on dark mode, no gaming, daily use + watching full hd or 2k videos for an hour or more a day and I get 6-7 hours screen time. The phone is 10 months old
