I have a G8142 HK version (on Oreo). I am visiting mainland China and I found out there is a 'x' on WIFI signal (I guess it is because of blocking Google). The guy who sold me the phone flashed the oem_x.sin file of the Chinese ROM - in order for me to use VOLTE on China Unicom (I've activated the service with them).
And I fount out:
1. too many Chinese bloatwares e.g. baidu, weibo etc. - gone with flashing HK file, good!
2. the 'x' on the wifi signal is gone - and did not come back after I flashed the HK file (I want it to be there to show there is the Great Firewall, if I go somewhere which has free internet so I can see from the WIFI x)
3.there is still no VOLTE in settings-mobile network - as I go into testing mode (*#*#4636#*#*) the VOLTE provision option is still greyed out. I also found out in HK rom the video calling provisioned option is available but after flashing Chinese file it is greyed out(came back again after I flashed HK version of file).
So I'd like to ask:
1. is it possible to bring back the WIFI 'x' just like before? (Or return to stock)
2. anyone know why there is no VOLTE option?
3. Where do I get the official firmware? - I got the version G8142_HK_47.1.A.3.254 from the phone seller, but I'd like to know where to download them? Tried Xperifirm.exe many times it always stops downloading halfway, and also Xperia companion but the loading bar stucks at the beginning, maybe it has something to do with Chinese internet censorship?
4. while I am in China, before I flash a new firmware I'll have to delete my google account because when the setup menu comes it will ask me to put in my old google account to proceed, I heard it from somewhere, right? If yes I'll just wait for a week maybe flash it after I leave China...
Sorry to write so long. First time using a Sony phone...
1: use flashtool
2: yes through magisk module or use the rom turbo created. (module just adds the options if your phone has it on there, it does not engage volte, only the menu)
3: did you try flashtool?
4: flashed multiple roms on my xzp and not once has it asked me for the old account.
This post is to spread the knowledge about the recent software beta update android pie / one ui for the s9+ us( snapdragon variant ).
A lot of people including me faced a problem of not being able to use volte and wifi calling on us phones specially with Indian networks like JIO.
The update was manually installed using this link ,
https://www.theandroidsoul.com/galaxy-s9-plus-android-9-pie-download-one-ui/
There is no need to flash anything or change any csc , my csc status is still XAA but jio works just fine.
Volte automatically with the first boot itself was turned on.
Wifi calling keeps disabling but people update if your work !
Shoutout to all the people stuck with unlocked ( actually locked xD ) phones to use volte features.
Your post brings new hopes for me. I have a Unlocked T Mobile Galaxy S9 with TMB CSC on it. I have a few questions
1) Is your original device 965U1 or you flashed 965U1 firmware to your 965U device ?
2) What was the CSC on your phone prior to Android Pie update you made ?
3) With Jio did you have a challenge where you couldn't make calls from direct phone dialler and had to use Jio voice ? But now Jio voice is no longer needed after android Pie Update ?
4) Did you have Jio SIM inside phone while doing update or removed it ? I see posts saying that SIM inside phone influences CSC Config
5) I assume Samsung Pay is still a no go in India with XAA CSC. Please confirm.

1. Original device - 965u1
2. Csc prior to update was XAA and still is the same.
3. Yes , i couldn't make calls before the update without the jio voice app. But after the update , normal dialer works just fine.
4. That really doesn't make a difference . Mine was in the phone during the update. The csc is still XAA , flashing pie didn't change the csc , only due to the beta nature or the update , samsung might have made some changes and a mistake served us as a boon.
5. Samsung pay works just fine for me , using in India.
There's a reason why wifi calling doesn't work on this beta is because the csc is only loaded with config supporting sim cards from US. Preloaded config are from companies like sprint , tmobile, etc. Hence , no change in csc means no change on config and thus wifi calling on jio doesn't work.
Another update , only update to beta 1 and stay on it , in beta 2 , they fixed this mistake making any volte carrier non working again .

It is bad news that XAA CSC no longer supports JIO volte. I thought Android Pie brought in a fix for this issue.
I have the S9, and not sure if the same bug in Beta 1 as in S9+ that you saw is true for the S9.

can you send please send beta1 or beta2 link or the build number of the beta firmware
First of all a BIG thanks to ed-gonzo
He made this possible
This is the instruction to activate VoWiFi / WLAN Call on the Poco F1
Its tested and verfied to work with EU ROM (Oreo , Pie and Q based) and german provider o2 (Telefonica)
Before you read on i want to make clear that I am not responsible for bricked devices !
Basic requirements are root rights to do this mod
Maybe latest 2020 Qualcomm Diag QD-Loader Windows 10 Drivers signed are needed for this to work.
!!! Before doing this Mod you should backup EFS-partition !!!
- download QPST tool and install
- enable USB debugging in Developer settings
- now either go to terminal app and type:
Code:
su
setprop sys.usb.config diag,serial_cdev,rmnet,adb
or
adb from PC
Code:
adb shell
su
setprop sys.usb.config diag,serial_cdev,rmnet,adb
- connect Poco F1 with original USB cable to PC
- start PDC (from QPST tool) on PC
- Poco F1 should be recognized by PDC (if not install Qualcomm driver and check Device Manager)
- activate corresponding profile (in case of german o2 its DT_Greece)
- install VoLTE & VoWiFi Enabler Magisk module (optional) or activate setting with dialer code *#*#869434#*#*
- restart Poco F1
- Voila
FAQ:
Q: What are the requirements for VoWiFi
A: A provider resp. plan which includes VoWiFi
Q: How to know if VoWiFi is working ?
A: Put phone in airplane mode and reactivate WiFi only. If you are able to make a call then VoWiFi is working.
Q: Does this only work with MIUI ROM ?
A: No ... its reported to work also on Custom ROMs like LOS, crDroid ...
Thx for this guide! Have been waiting for this.
Does this work with custom ROM (LOS)?
in case of german o2 its DT_Greece? are you sure? german carrier and greece?

Ok thx will give it a shot as soon as I get access to a windoze PC :highfive:
Ok this definately didn't work on my Poco-f1 with latest LOS16 and 8.11.15 vendor/fw. Funny thing that VoLTE now seems to be gone (Device switches back to H+/E). Got it back by restoring efs. Has anyone else been successful with this running custom ROMs? Even without this "hack" I have been able to activate VoWIFI after 8.11.5 update but it didn't work so I guess this depends on FW version.
Two things - a little offtopic though: Any Idea if this can be tried on the MiA1? I suspect that xiaomi doesn't include support in it's firmware for this device at all and I 'm afraid to cripple both my devices (Poco and MiA1) at the end .
Has anyone had success getting HDVoice with BT headsets on the Poco-f1 with custom ROMs? Sorry for asking this here but in the LOS thread I seem to get ignored with this question / bug report.
@saski4711
to bad that its not working for you.
It defintively works with EU ROMs based on Oreo or Pie.

Yeah bummer. Will give it another shot the next days maybe I messed up somewhere. Isn't this device supposed to get VoWIFI by default with the Pie update anyway? Maybe this will work OOTB with final pie?
not works with EU pie rom to me too. from Sri Lanka we have VOWIFI network. tried switching many profiles but not works .

Dont know ... i'm on Stable EU ROM 10.0.6.0 (based on Oreo)
I know for sure it worked out of the box after pie update on stock beta with a service provider in Greece.
Can make settings appear with *#"#vowifi#*#* but being in India don't think providers support vowifi so doesn't work.

Enabling the VoWiFi option doesnt mean its working !

2 diff statement.
Can enable with code but doesn't work in india.
It worked for a friend in Greece without doing anything immediately after pie update.
What I was suggesting that maybe and just maybe if provider supports it ,vowifi can be enabled simply by code.
It is working perfect. I did some test calls on wifi. Thumb up..... BTW I'm on German Telekom D1

could you please tell us which ROM you are using and which profile you activated within PDC ?
I'm using 8.11.27 global beta and I modified the DT_greece section. Set sub0 and sub1 to active.
Opened dialer and dialed *#*#vowifi#*#*
ok this works, just needed a bit more work for WoWiFi in my case
after a reboot it kept returning to my default carrier config (VoLTE working just fine anyway)
so what I did was to remove my carrier config from within PDC Tool, just that by doing that it defaulted to a non-VoLTE config
well, removed that also and this time it kept DT_Greece config on both subs
VoLTE works and VoWiFi also (carrier Orange Romania)
ps. don't restart phone if you want to test new configs
just click on activate and enter airplane mode then exit (keeps testing faster)
I've gotten as far as I can with my Mi Mix 2S, works on both AOSP and MIUI to allow the radios to be enabled, and the settings to appear in MIUI (AOSP usually shows them anyway).
With this said, I tried only enabling the WiFi option on the carrier that already had the sim activated...
I see many people here on different carriers in the EU who enabled the DT_Greece options and voila. Is this an accurate conclusion? I'm wondering if I just need an answer from a carrier other than my own to acknowledge the WiFi option exists to turn it on? Being in the US it seems as if the DT_Greece config could cause some problems, but it's not an option in my list. I don't know at this point.
Edit:
Tried all the US bands and even a few others, specifically ones that said WiFi. None worked so far, I'm going to cry! :crying::crying::crying:
I tried this on a Redmi Note 5 Pro but after selecting the device in PDC it throws an error message and doesn't show the list of carriers.
I've tried QPST 2.7.420 and 2.7.474 and a couple different pie roms, windows 7 and 10 but it always fails.
I can use EFS Explorer and dump the NV data just fine though...
Hello everyone!
I have a Xiaomi Mi A3 and I 've been trying to activate wifi calling for days without success. Until now I have done the following:
1) I have activated WiFi calling with Vodafone Greece for my line
2) The device is among the carrier supported devices
3) The wifi calling switch is ON
4) I have tried the *#*#vowifi#*#* code
5) I switched from global to EU rom via OTA just in case.
None of the above seems to solve the problem and my phone still has no WiFi calling.
I contacted Vodafone support and they said they would send the issue over to Xiaomi to check with my IMEI why that would happen. No news yet...
Any help would be very much appreciated.
I found a thread in another forum about the same problem but for Xiaomi Mi 8. They said that they solved it by changing the settings of modem config, using an app activity manager. I downloaded app activity manager from the play store but I couldn't find modem config. Does anyone know how to find that?
