Where is it? - General Questions and Answers

Hello guys
Copy folders to SD card Hope you can help me out here.
For very long time I'm looking for a simple app that copy folders from the internal memory storage to the SD card.
Amazingly, I found only 3-4 app and they have lot of bugs

A file manager? There are tons of them in the play store.

[Q] My apps won't load after switching SD card

I just got a legit sandisk 32gb class 4 off of newegg and before swapping I transferred everything from the external SD folder to my internal, did the swap, formatted in the phone then swapped the contents of my old external SD to the new one. Rebooted a few times but my apps will not load. All my apps are saved to phone or internal SD card as well.
Does anyone know why?

copying from external to internal would not have copied hidden files.. and many of the apps may have had their own direcdtories on external sd with hidden files..
i always do this is pc by backing up old sd to a directory on the pc (make sure to have view hidden and system files on)
they copy back to a new sd card..
double check what was copied by doing a check disk on the old and new cards and comparing number of files and directories including hidden.. should be the same.
Even if show hidden files was checked off within the phone options itself?

I keep all the .apk files in a seperate folder on my PC ,as I switch phones to the newest thing once or twice a month,I swap my SD card to new phone, then reinstall the programs from the .apk folder using Astro or whatever your choice of software ,the saved files will find the newly installed progs with hidden files and all,you dont even have to reinstall key codes, passwords or nada,If you are a SICK phone Junkie like me,it will save you lots of stress...Vegas
Sorry, is there a way to move this to the Q and A section? my XDA app doesn't show the Q&A area.

[Q] Galaxy R SD and USB Storage

Hi Friends,
I'm new to forum and bought new Galaxy R.
The partition in phone is divided into 3
1. phone memory 1.9 gb
2. USB storage 3.7 gb
3. My SD card 7.4 gb
Now the problem is I have download games and my USB storage is full.
I also I tried copying to SD card and playing it. but didn't work.
Since, This is my new phone I don't wanna root at early level since the company warranty is void if it is rooted as I have heard from friends.
I need help to copy into SD card and play without rooting
or atleast my game recognise the path of sd card where i have transferred.
I have seen previous post and tried many soft like apps2sd, etc.. nothing worked.
any alt solutions to copy in SD and play without rooting...
Thanks in advance..
Also when I try to transfer the files to SD Card using manager or other soft's but failed.
For example: Like I tried moving Gameloft Real football 2012 to SD Card. It only copies some 10 or 12 mb file which we download from market not the full files which we download later (i.e approx 400 mb)..

but to me it is a bit confusing.. and sometimes i got 2 identical data both in my SD card and USB Storage.. im not sure if GL to SD support backup if you change your phone..

GL TO SD requires root. As given in the instructions, and i and the original poster doesn't want root.
Any other feasible option?

Thanks bro.. It is pretty hard to get this stuff solved..
Also, I tried the application for Mount.. even these app needs rooting.. God knows what to do...
Hi Friends,
I found some important stuff regarding the USB Storage & SD card..
This is for "Non-rooted" mobile phones.
I installed ES file explorer & X-plore and also few other apps.. This is to check how arrangement of file system are in the phone.
Now what i absorbed is, In the display of phone memory it shows 1.9gb and for SD Card memory it shows 4.9gb which is USB storage not the one which I have installed 8gb SD Card.
So its like this..
" /mnt/sdcard " This is for USB 4gb space (Non extendable)
" /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/ " This is for my 8gb sd card (Extendable)
Hence, when ever any App wants to download additional data it goes to USB Storage (I.e /mnt/sdcard ) not to SD 8gb expandable storage card.
I want to configure or use the command to make the application to choose default location as " /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/ " to save in my extendable memory card without rooting.
IS THIS POSSIBLE... Please do let me know from the experts...
THANK YOU..
From what i have seen , u need a shadow copy or u need to bind the folders in some way, which requires root... I see no other way...

Like once you've flashed the ROM can you delete the zip? Yes.
^^^^^Or make a folder on your computer and move the backups there so you have them if ever needed.
You can use an app like Astro file manager to show you how your SD card is being used - that will help you eliminate files you don't need or back them up elsewhere. Do an audit of your storage - Music, Photos, Zip files, downloads, etc.
Good Luck!

um im not asing for opinions
You cannot download from the play store then. You would have to download it online somewhere to do this. Do not get a refund for the game though.
Go find the game online Download apk and SD Data. Get either GL to SD or Directory Bind (Google Directory Bind). Put sd data in external sd Android-Obb folder and install the apk. Then use GL to SD or directory bind to bind the game to that location.

which should i bind in source and target
bind where the files usually go and where they are. Might have to make a folder in the regular android-obb which has the name but not the obb?

New thread?
Was going to make a new thread but I found this and this is somewhat newer than all the other "app to external SD" threads.
I have the same problem. I have a 900 MB Internal memory and a 2GB Internal SD. The 2GB internal ran out so I bought a 8GB External and stuck it in. Now my problem is, How do I get the apps to get on the external? I've tried numerous app2sd apps like DroidSail App2SD and App2SD and AppMgr III (App 2 SD).
My phone is rooted and I also tried # pm setInstallLocation 2 but all I get is
[1] Killed pm setInstallLocation 2
Any help?

Google Play Music not supporting external SD

I want to select my external SD card as the download location for Google Play Music. There should be an option in settings to do this, but it is missing on mine. However, under "Manage Downloads" it shows 30gb available, so it knows my external SD card exists. I've tried to create a link from my internal storage to my SD card using Root Browser, but it fails and tells me that some systems and SD cards don't support symbolic links.
I'm running CM11 and my SD card works perfectly in every other application.
I really need help on this one
Thanks in advance

I'm nearly sure there's an xposed mod for this. At one point I think there was an update from Google that it would have the ability to save to the external SD but somehow they managed to screw it up
