Hello, I'm new to the world of AOSP. What I'm trying is to customize the sensor fusion code in the Android OS and build the custom ROM and flash it. However, when the HW binary is not available, is there a way around? For instance, can I go with Shamu (Nexus 6) and flash it to Epson Moverio bt-300 or Samsung Galaxy tab e?

So, my mom got a Galaxy Tab 2 a few days ago, but it seems... heavily Samsung influenced (Touchwiz and all that). I feel trying a custom ROM would help the performance of the tablet
There's a few apps on the tablet that are kind of cool, specifically Smart Remote. Could this app be installed on a custom ROM by some chance?
If you want to maintain IR functionality to run peel remote, etc you will need to stick with ROMs based on "stock" releases
IR is Samsung proprietary and they have not released the code for it. Custom ROM developers will not have access to it until Samsung decides to "allow" it
Custom ROMs that are based off of official releases that are P3113 or P3110 based should have working IR blaster
Check out some of the ROMs available in the development threads - the available options should be included in the first post of each released ROM

Root the device, install busybox, SuperSU and ESFileExplorer. Remove the Bloatware and you will have a snappy device.
Okay, I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8013. I have rooted the tablet successfully and installed Omnirom on it, except Omnirom cam with Android 4.4.4 when my device's stock version is Android 4.1.2. After downloading Omnirom I would like to switch to Paranoid Android so I can access the pie feature on my tablet instead of the omnibox.
However, being very new at this, could I use a Paranoid Android Tablet Rom based on Android 4.4.4 instead of the standard 4.1.2? I don't want to go back to 4.1.2, it wasn't fun. I would like to keep Android 4.4.4 and have the updated version of Paranoid Android for my Galaxy Note 10.1 Is this possible?

your question seems odd for some reason im not understanding i guess.
so, you flashed a 4.4.4 rom onto your device and you want to know if you can flash another 4.4.4 rom onto your device that is made for your device correct?
if that is accurate^^, then yes, you can just flash the new rom.
the only possible problem i could see is, if there is an official update to kitkat for your device? if no then there will be no issue.
if there is an official kk for your device, say so and i will elaborate on the possible issues.

Hi guys,
I would like to develop a custom rom for an android 8 for a phone based on android 7.0
I have access to the original rom on 7.0
how to update android 7.0 to 8.0? Tutorials?
The phone is based on a Helios P25 mediatek 6757CD hardware , kernel 4.4.15, java 2.1.0 opengles 3.2
GPU mali t880.
I'm a programmer in java but not in phones.
I can upload the custom os but still black screen. I just replaced the scatter file in the new os android 8.0 --> black screen
The phone is rooted so I could replace the rom on it.
Thanks a lot
I've recently installed the latest Hades ROM which is Android 10 on a friend's Note 8. I tried to pair it with the A2N kernel because it seems to be an incredibly good kernel... But it doesn't boot, or even go past the initial logo.
The problem is that on one of my phones, a Galaxy J5 2015, i can install any Android version while using the same kernel, Jet Cooled Kernel OC, which was made for Android 8. Tried it even on Android 11 and it works perfectly. Currently running AEX, Android 9, because it offers the most customization.
So why is that? Can somebody explain it to me? (To be clear, i'm not saying that people's work is poorly made or something.)
