Hi,
Am i the only one that is having issues/problem in watching stories on Instagram? They're too large/big for the screen. It seems a Instagram bug but it's really annoying..
Anyone else?
Me too
i've the same problem...maybe dipend in screen ratio?
Yepp, Instagram has to publish an update
Yup! Its freakin irritating.
Are you guys in notch AND fullscreen mode. or just notch no fullscreen, or notchless? Or does it not matter, and problem exists in all 3 scenarios?
IG stories works fine for me?

For me when I open an Instagram story, after the opening animation, I can see it slightly getting cropped
If the problem is that the stories are cropped by the notch go to display, full screen mode and scroll down to Whatsapp. For whatever reason Whatsapp is set automatically in full screen mode, if you select default no more cropping.

i have the same problem.
looks like IG is just overstretched off the screen.
Also the stretch seems like happening at the sides not at the top were the notch is.
Any solution for this?
same problem for me, also with Samsung S8 before Oneplus 6
Has there be any update on this?
It's like IG is upscaled and stretched to fit in the screen. However, parts of it are outside of the screen.
It's working for me..
But I noticed when I share stories in Instagram, the picture clarity is becoming low.. idk why..
tried uploading stories using both insta camera and op camera.. it's same.. camera clarity is becoming worse..
Anyone else having the same issue.?
Ig still doesn't support 19:9 phtots that's the reason the 16:9 stories of your friends look unscaled and vice versa. If you want your stories to appear perfect take pictures in 16:9 ratio thru the google camera or any other 3rd party app.
Guys we have to report that as much as we can (count wise), instead of discussing it here u can report the issue directly in the play store, the problem with oneplus is the number of selleings is not as much as the other gaints, means developers will care less about us, let ur voice be heard
Fixed for Honor 10

Hide Notch and use navigation bar instead of screen.
my vid how i did it.
Using the navigation bar instead of gestures fixes it.
Same here. Oneplus 6 screen ratio is too narrow than the other phones, so the sides get cropped from others stories. Also in other phones the top and bottom portions get cropped of my stories

That's not a solution, it's a workaround.
Use navigation bar and what display size?
I have this problem too. Nothing is fixing it.

I'm using Galaxy S7(non-edge). I'm dealing with a screen color uniformity issue (as you can see here).
I showed the device to guys at Samsung to create a technical report in order to get a replacement. But they can't even see a problem with my display. Since they didn't even bother the images I showed they asked me whether I can see a problem by playing some videos and all. But I said it's difficult to notice the problem when displaying various colors at once. Otherwise they asked me whether I can show the problem within the system(not with any images and videos). So I opened the Internet(Samsung stock browser) in 'Secret Mode' went to tabs section and displayed that screen(grey background) by closing the foreground tab. I want to confirm that there is no gradient on that screen. Can any of you guys post a screenshot of that screen?
Thanks
Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?

Funny! I fell for it. It won't let you take a screenshot when in secret mode.
Try using HW buttons or Pixolor app please
Dude these idiots at samsung have no idea.
I had the same issue MULTIPLE TIMES!
amoled screens are not all equal and I almost always notice some minor flaw in every display.
My current one has pretty even color but there are 3 dark horizontal lines going across the screen in different areas. Kind of like shadows under the glass thats bery subtle but definitely visible when browsing stuff and scrolling up and down.
Just call and ask for a warranty replacement over the phone

Samsung OS doesn't allow to make screenshot in incognito mode in its browser. But I can confirm, that its background has no gradient on it.

Is there any way to fix the aspect ratio when in certain video apps, like Netflix, Plex, or when watching a video through the browser, would seem to be a bit handy. Haven't found anything on this yet.

Netflix has a button in the black boarder on the bottom right that takes it to full screen if that's what you mean

Yeah my app just updated, the button appears now. I guess we'll just have to wait for other apps like Plex and the in browser video viewing.

Try to use the game launcher. If you open game launcher and click add app then add the plex to the list, then hold on it, it should say list as a game app.... Then you should be able to do full screen when u launch the game
Edit: I tried with showbox it didn't work, maybe with plex u can make it work

You can force any app that exists to be fullscreen by tapping a cyan-colored circle that appears when you press the app switcher button, the circle appears below the X button in the app card. But I think OP means having a feature that crops out videos to fill the entire screen, that feature needs official support to work.

Oh I didn't know you can do that in the recent menu thank you... what was I talking here is about cropping I thought that it would also crop the video to fit the screen by doing that
I think there is some confusion between "filling the display", and changing the aspect ratio. I'm interested in this device. I went to Best Buy and held one in my hand. It's impressive, but it's shaped funny. Tall and slim. Great if you're a model, unusual if you're a smart phone. If you "fill the display", (which is really your only choice), you're going to crop the image. This is due to the unusual dimension of the display. I don't know of any other devices, TVs, tablets, or phones, with similar relative dimensions. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but I am saying it's a bit unusual. I haven't taken the leap yet because I need an unlocked, dual sim device, but while I wait, I wonder if the Note 8 will have a more conventionally shaped display........

Hello,
Today i purchased a Google Pixel 2 XL 64GB model. I was a proud owner of the Google Pixel XL.
There is one thing bugging me on the 2 XL. Whenever i take photos using the stock camera app with the front facing camera the lighting corrects in such a weird way so photos look really weird.
This also happens with other apps like Snapchat and Instagram.
Does anyone know if i can turn off color correction for just the camera or something?
Thanks in advance!
Please upload an example of your issue.

Please see the YouTube link below - I believe they address the issue of pics taken vs. pics viewed via phone display vs. pics viewed via Instagram/Snapchat. This critique is towards the end of video

Color correction
The video didnt come close to the actual problem im having.
For example when i try to make a selfie using snapchat or instagram, before i take the picture my face has pale natural color which is perfect. when i took the picture and look it up in my Photo gallery it just looks awful.
My skin color turned greyish. This has nothing to do with the lighting in the area im in. Ive tried many different areas when taking pictures and they all result in the same weird greyish color
Pics or it didn't happen...
There is some known issue's with Pixel 2 and will be fixed by releasing patch and this would be a permanent solution.
Take a picture with hdr+ off and see if there any difference.
Here are some examples
This one is a picture before it has actually been taken, so its a preview
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1C_AJVL93j52oSQ-5N9bIk2fvW4cuMqZOYQ
This is the actual saved picture
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1G2KVE_I0oeCKC9lp4hNHzo6YfhhWlshing
As you can see it has some difference and the saved picture just looks worse.
Another example.

Did you reboot? This is, I think, the way it works.
The Visual Core you enabled doesn't work for the viewfinder preview in non-stock-camera apps, and I'm not sure it ever will.
Either turn hdr off in these apps if you prefer the blown-out look, or use the stock app and add to instagram app

I have no idea how to turn off hdr off for specified apps like instagram or snapchat
I honestly don't see the issue in your samples. The only thing I noticed is that you're using snap chat which takes terrible low resolution photos. That night be one reason why the image looks so bad.
its a problem of snapchat, try taking pic in instagram with pixel core on , instagram, facebook, twitter take awesome photos but snapchat its a trash

Hey,
if I going to the apps overview (when I click on the square) and reopenning the same app, my display flicker a little bit at the bottom.
Do you have the same problem? It is annoying. I recored a video. I cant post links (<10 posts). Please search for "pixel 2 flicker" on youtube and filter: today uploaded. Channel name "kome" I only have this (1) video uploaded.
Thanks in advance

Yeah even i do see a thin white line forming/flickering in the navigation bar while going back to the same app via recents menu. Any one else guys?
Looks like a software bug.
I think its the animation. I called the google support. This woman told me she has the same white line and it is normal. But I went to the store and checked two other pixel 2. One had the "white line" one did not have it. So I send my phone back and got my money back. I cant accept that a so expensive phone has this kind of error.
I think it cames from the animation. If you push the square button and pull the app a little bit higher and open the app, you see the right animation.. but I dont understand why this software is so stupid that it isnt working on some phones ..
This looks like an old thread, but this is the same thing I noticed but I guess I didn't pick up on it until it upgraded to Pie. Was it ever determined to be hardware or software?

Same issue with Instagram stories. The only way is to use Good Lock to resize the app to 16:9 so that stories will work properly.

Move the app in multi window covering 3/4th screen when viewing stories.
