Do you think it is possible to modify the single sim variant to double sim ? - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

I and my friend is now on project for modification of single sim variant to double sim ? It sounds promising due to the phone has been s-off permanently and check the hardware seems support the second slot

it has been discussed before, it is not possible due to each sim slot has or need an IMEI assigned, even if you get your hands on a dual sim tray probably the phone inside doesn't have the soldered connectors to make contact with the second SIM...

(How) Did you managed to get permanent S-OFF?
I tried findng out if this mod could work by flashing the double sim Firmware and system and by using the double sim adapter with 2 simcards but no success!
So I think there is no second SIM/GSM modul build in the U11 single sim variant.

It's reported that Dual Sim Mod has been successfully on Single Sim variant

Second imei is not too hard for me to write it in with special hardware-box but what's surprise me is there's existed a 2nd sim contact in all variants

[Q] Nano Sim Card Problem

Hi all,
I am now the proud owner of an AM7. However, I have a problem! I cannot get the 2nd sim card to work. The phone only shows bars for the Micro Sim - the Nano Sim is not showing anywhere.
Is there something I am suppose to do to activate the Nano Sim or should it pick it up automatically? Also - I had real problems getting the Nano Sim to fit in the 2nd tray - it seemed a fraction too big. Did anyone else experience this??
Thanks!!

Hello,
Do you have the 16GB/2GB Ram or the 32GB/3GB Ram version of the AM7?
Based on the reviews I checked, the feature of using 2 sims is only limited to the 32GB/3GB Ram version

No I have the International 16GB/2GB however I am almost certain i've seen details saying the dual sim is available on both models. Personally not once have I seen anything to say it was only limited to the 3GB Gold version and I did alot of phone researching.
I really hope this isn't the case anyway!!
Thanks a lot

The nano sim is perfectly sitting in the tray. You should place the sim according to the cut side. The terminals of the sim should face above. May be your nano sim is not cut properly? Is this sim coming as nano sim from the company or you have cut it?
I am having the same problem in sim one. It was working well but now it is not detecting anymore. I think in my case the slot terminals have dislodged.

Hi and thanks for the help. The sim was cut ever so marginally to fit into the tray - however I am surprised I had to trim it at all? When I put it back into my company iPhone it still works. It certainly looks like the sim is sitting correctly but the phone has not detected it once. I'll try again later tonight.
I am concerned though that the 16GB/2GB International version does not support dual sim - only the gold 32GB/3GB version - but as I mentioned above i've never seen this written anywhere anywhere.
Do I assume there is nothing that needs to be 'switched on'??
You should see two sim toolkits in applist. Always, not only if there are 2 cards inserted. You could check build.prop and local.prop for dual sim entries. All should be true. And well 2gg model is single sim normally. Only Chinese models and gold model are dual sim. Maybe you could make it work with patching prop files.
I do have a sim toolkit app but it will not open. So everything seems to indicate the international version does not support dual sims. So disappointing - oh well...... ebay here we come...
Thanks a lot...

It may be too late but in phone menu, could you try keying in *#06# and if 2 IMEIs display, then it should be dual sim.

if i install a ROM of the device with single sim or CyanogenMod, the slot of the second sim perhaps is enabled to read microSD.
it's my idea, maybe wrong, but it might work, the hardware I think is the same.

No, it isn't. In fact, the early builds of the 6039* CM didn't even support dual sim.
Also, a Micro SD simply won't fit inside the tray.

If you consume the top corner of the microSD fits perfectly without damage. I tried.
I dont know if there hardware difference between the slot with dual sim and the single sim + microSD

2 sim on EU S8+, possible?

Hi, I recently bought S8+ in Scandinavia/EU and looking at the sim tray, there is a spot for 1 sim and 1 SD card. Is there any way to get 2 sim cards working instead of 1 sim 1 SD?
Thank you in advance

You mean that you don't know if you have a dual sim s8+ or a single sim? It must be written in the back as "Duos"...
I know that this (2 sim & micro SD card) happens in all Duos (Dual sim device)
But I don't think that you can do a single sim version to dual sim
To clarify, the question popped up as I saw some people on YouTube surgically detaching the sim and glueing it to their sd cards in order to get the 2nd sim working. But I assume if there is no actual reader to read the 2nd sim, that operation won't be successful. Thing is, I do not know if there is a reader or not on an European version of s8+?
It's quite impossible since the device must have two imei numbers.

Remove the sim chip from the telecommunications company and stick it behind the SD Card. Look at my photo. Then sim + SD card into the sim2 card slot. This sim2 card slot there sim with sd.
Dual sim on G955F?
Even though not marked on box, is it possible?

The answer is a simple no. Those videos show a dual sim s8 being modded so they can use the dual sim AND an sd card instead of OR.

No. Must have 2 IMEI's for that to work. There is no way to make a single sim phone a dual sim one.

Hi all
This maybe a silly question, but I've looked for ages on here and didn't find an answer
Has anyone tried a dual SIM tray in a single SIM model to see if it does indeed have dual SIM support?
Thanks

Problem being a single sim phone will only have 1 imei#
Sent from my God Mode 8
Valid point, but still doesn't answer my question, if anyone has tried dual SIM tray, does it then activate and support dual SIM on single SIM phone, which in turn may activate second imei#

I'm wondering the same question. I have read of folks cloning their IMEI to do a dual SIM hack, however, I don't know of the success/viability.
I'm wondering if the 955F has dual SIM hardware....

T-Mobile 8T have dual sim if I get the dual sim tray?

So the title says it.
I have the T-Mobile 8T and I bought a cheap little dual sim tray for the 8t and was wondering if the tmobile 8T will still do dual sim with that tray?
It's in the stock tmo settings app for dual sim so I'm hoping it works
Do you have 2 imei numbers?

I shoved my old 7T's dual sim holder in to my Tmo 8T with my two SIM cards (if you have Tmo, get your FREE LINE during the holiday promo...).
The sim holder didn't fit all the way in but the first sim card did register and it worked fine. The phone did not report seeing the second sim. I'm wondering if that's a function of the Tmo ROM. Looking in the sim card hole you can see there are top and bottom pins... I have to wonder if flashing to the global firmware would activate the second sim....

The weird thing in the stock tmo rom it has settings for sim2 and sim1 so I would assume it would work and yep that's why I'm asking this I got the free line lol
Having two Sims on the same network won't help you very much for performance, but it's great if you need two numbers!

Not only that, you could potentially use one SIM for data only ($20+/mo) and a second SIM for voice ($3/mo for Prepaid), instead of spending $60+ monthly. A different calculation on multi-line accounts though...
Unfortunately, I can confirm that, at least on the latest T-Mobile build (11.0.4.6.KB09CB), dual SIM does NOT seem to work.
I've tried it with the OEM dual SIM tray for the OnePlus 8T, which fits perfectly in the T-Mobile "OnePlus 8T+ 5G." The second SIM (SIM2 slot of the tray) is never detected and no options for it appear despite both SIMs working individually when placed in the SIM1 slot of the tray.

Fortunately, people have already confirmed that the Global ROM conversion does enable dual SIM. See the Global/EU conversion thread for more.

Damn oh well,I'll keep the tray and my free line sim stuck in the 8t and wait for twrp then I'll switch to global firmware and try dual sim. I really just want twrp for 8t on a11

Thanks for confirming what we suspected. I think anyone seriously interested in dual SIM should be on global anyways.
I bet that eventually a few smart devs will dig into the T-Mobile rom and find a way to patch dual sim support back in
