New phone, with built in app lock? - General Questions and Answers

Hey,
I'm looking for a new phone. Features I want are built in app lock (like Samsung and Huawei) and the possibility to clone apps (like Samsung Secure Folder and Huawei App Twin). Or as an alternative have multiple users on the phone. Less important, but still a feature I want, is a good battery life and per-app VPN. Budget is not too important as long as these criterias are fulfilled.
Any experience and/or suggestions you share will be much appreciated.
Thank you.

I have posted my question in the device suggestion thread. Please delete this thread.

*** ~ List Of All The Best Apps For Each Type/Function, Please ~ ***

Hi! Updated to 4.1.2 after lots of pain -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2571305 -- not sure if there's anymore updates you should do
It deleted all my apps, settings, everything when it wasn't suppose to...
Best launcher to download? Just one please.
And the rest of the other kinds of apps?
Links are helpful.
I cannot believe that I'm getting almost zero help as to what are the best apps. For this simple problem. So I made a list that anyone can edit (wasn't sure what site to put it so I put in on google spreadsheets). It's a gift to the droid community!! --

far from completed
Please include links or other really good support when recommending an app that you've meticulously tested (in comparison with other apps of its kind) for inclusion.
You received no help because your question doesn't have an actual answer, or rather: every answer is equally valid as it's a highly subjective question, and the answer depends on each user. Besides, it's open ended (you're asking for *every* single app category out there) and shows a lack of research from your part.
About your rant on that spreadsheet, where you basically say that people pretending there's no "best" don't understand the meaning of "best"... Perhaps you should revise your definition first.
best
of the most excellent, effective, or desirable type or quality.

All that is superlative, and subjective. How do you define that? Obviously it depends on what each user wants. You could say "if an app can do everything, then it's the best!" - but what if it lacks speed? Or security? Or something else? There's always a trade-off, one app cannot be suitable for everyone.
Your list is nice, but it's for you. Other people will disagree. I'd actually recommend discussing those apps your like in this thread, for example, if you want to.
With all that in mind, and considering your question is open ended, I'll try to give you what you need to answer your question yourself (because no one else can.)
You can find a list of launchers here (a quick Google search showed me that.) Obviously, some newer launchers may be missing since new launchers come out often (you can contact the OP if you find any.) I can't help you about "the rest of the other kinds of apps" because I don't know what those are.
If you have something more specific in mind (*what* *you* want app X to do, no "what is the best X,") do ask and give the necessary information and someone will help you out if they know.

Privacy Ace App: Is it any good?

Hello Friends,
My name is Ivaylo and I am new to the forum. I decided to make a registration, because I wanted to ask for some help from you guys. For the past few weeks, I have been looking for an app that can help me protect my personal information (Facebook, Phone gallery, Call logs, etc.) on my smartphone (currently using Samsung Galaxy S5). I have tried quite a few free apps from Google Play such as AppLock, Smart AppLock and the like. Among those, I came across this app called Privacy Ace. To be honest, I liked the design and interface of Privacy Ace. Both very pretty simple and user friendly. On the other hand the other apps I tried (i.e. Smart AppLock) offer more features (i.e. 'Observer' feature; if someone tries to access your phone and enters the wrong password a few times, the app takes a picture of that person and later on you can see who has tried to break into your phone). However Smart AppLock, for example, has kind of a clustered interface. It was really difficult for me to find out how to use the various features of the app. I really got frustrated while trying to figure out how to use it. I am not the most intelligent person, but I know how to use smartphones, if you know what I mean. Still I am looking for something that is simple to use and can get the job done.
So my question basically is: has anyone else tried Privacy Ace and is it any good? How is the app performance-wise? Should I give it a try? Feel free to suggest other apps of the same type too.
Thanks for the help in advance
Cheers
Ivaylo

Looking for 900 tablets, need to be rootable with high community, fairly newer.

Hello all,
My colleagues and I are working on a fairly major project in which we need 900 tablets, they must be rootable and highly supported rom / application wise, but mostly they need to be available, I am having issue finding tablets in this volume. I was thinking possibly Google Nexus tablets or Samsung Galaxy tabs. Does anyone have any recommendations on which to get, or where to get them? I am quite familiar with roms and rooting, but we need them to be as basic as can be, but we need to be able to lock them down and manage them remotely. They are pretty much going to have no default apps (eg: no play store or anything) and are to only have our app on it, which will then hopefully let us push our own proprietary apps to it and modify security policies on it or install updates, etc. If anyone has any recommendations I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!

Please give me some advice for developing a product for older people

Hello,
I have some questions, but I'm really not in this field, so it's possible to say some stupid things. Please forgive me.
Also please forgive me for posting this here, but I'm thinking that here I can find some specialists that can tell me in what direction I must look to find solutions.
I want to develop a product, for a group of older people. It's composed from a tablet + the software for it. The tablets I plan to order from a Chinese manufacturer, but for the moment I want to buy a couple of tablets from a local store just to see if it works. The OS should be Android. The main purpose of this product will be an app (with some widgets) that will be pre-installed on it. I don't want the app to be available on Playstore. The app will be very basic in this stage. So, until now seems simple. I hire someone on Fiverr to develop the app knowing the main specifications of the tablets, then I buy the tablets, manually install the app and setting it's widgets to display as I want.
BUT, I want also to customize the opening animation of the device. And very important, to be able to update the app and it's widgets, and also the way the widgets appear on the screens. And maybe install some new apps for added functionality. It must be very simple to use for these people, they don't know how to install apps from Playstore, and to setup widgets and stuff. It must be a product ready to use and possible to update in the future.
Is this possible?
I need a customized version of Android? This can be updated on the devices, and set up all things, apps and how the widgets display?
Or I can make all these with only an Android app?
Any advice is welcome, thank you

I think this should be possible by "Tasker"; however, it's a paid application, and therefore I don't provide a link to it here. Personally, I don't use it as I've no requirement for it. Many, many years ago, I used Llama and believe to remember it had probably similar features.
Regarding Tasker, here's the forum with tips & tricks:
