1080p @ 60FPS recording - Java app - Samsung Galaxy S7 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hello
I am a mobile software developer and I would like to enable Full HD @ 60FPS recording in my app. I am currently using old camera APIs (however I have already tried some basic steps with camera2 APIs). I have searched forums, tried hacks, used camera2 APIs, manual CamcorderProfiles settings with no success. I have also installed some 3rd party apps from Play Store and none of them was able to record anything above 30 FPS.
Does anyone know if it is possible to record Full HD @ 60 FPS video using ANY third-party app using Samsung Galaxy S7? If so, please point any Android APIs or 3rd party app, that successfully records 60 FPS.
Many thanks for any help

Im pretty sure that Samsung locked that up for their own camer app only. Tried Filmic Pro, tried Open Camera - none of them work. This is why I will move away from Samsung.

Seems that I have confirmed my expectations - FullHD @ 60 FPS is indeed blocked on Samsung Galaxy S7 and probably also on Galaxy S8. I have checked it on Oreo on Galaxy S7.
A set of camera2 APIs designed to return supported framerates for given recording formats always returned 30 FPS for FullHD resolution.
The only one way to get higher framerate is to use CameraConstrainedHighSpeedCaptureSession APIs. The result is just 1280x720 @ 120 or 240 FPS. Only that and nothing more or less.
Kind of unfair play from Samsung I guess.
Is it possible to unlock FHD @ 60 FPS for 3rd party apps without rooting the device?

You definitely need to root device to do that. And yes it's possible I already have it

Don't really like reviving an old thread but, would you mind sharing with the community HOW you got that to work?

[Q] Is our camcorder app able to record PAL instead of NTSC?

Hi there,
I am not sure if this is a HTC Sensation only question or maybe a general Android issue. I tried the search here and at Google, but it looks like nobody did ever wrote a word about this?
I am looking for a PAL compatible camcorder mod or app to be able to record PAL standard compatible. That means I want to have a camcorder mode with 25p, 50i or 50p. Not as many frames as possible. Also not NTSC with 30 or 60 frames. Just PAL with 25 or 50 frames per second, maybe interlaced.
I am using PAL video editors at hobby and at job. I do like to use my FullHD camcorder and maybe my HDV also. So my video projects are PAL, thats the video standard here in Europe. I can't ever use my phones camcorder beause all pan and zoom will look very bad if imported into a 50i project. Thats because the camcorder in our phones seem not to be able to deliver PAL? The conversion while importing into my project is from 30p or 60p down or up to 50i or 25p. That must look bad after importing.
I know that our phones original camcorder soft goes down with the frames if the light is not enough, I also know that some modded camcorder apps seem to be able to record with stable 60p at FullHD. Maybe it is possible to reduce the frames with a modificated media profile or with a camcorder app?
Does anybody know if these phone camcorders are able to record with a stable rate of 25p, 50i or50p? I would like to use this feature of my phone really much..
Thanks for your answers, hints and help!

:fingers-crossed: Yes, thanks. Also Australia uses PAL standard. Only USA and Japan have NTSC I think..
Does anybody know camcorder apps that are able to do PAL? Please?
Nobody?
Hmm, since the forum rules says that I am not allowed to post my question anywhere else than here, maybe someone out here can post my question at a camcorder app threat? Maybe the specialists there are having an answer?

[Q] Anyway to record [email protected] ??

I tried to use my N9005 to record my lectures that's over than 1-2 hours per file
but camera allows me only 320x240 which quality is too low. (720p is take too much memory per file)
Any external applications, or hack camera app ??
Thanks in advance and sorry for my English skills.
Update
Try LG camera Pro, that might have the option to record in 480p.

4K Dislpay?

Hey I wanna know that Sony's doing the same thing like they did with Z5 Premium?
Like this is 1080p by default but only when you open in gallery and maybe amazon prime video app triggers the 4K?
I remember Erika Griffin mentioned that you can change the resolution but another YouTuber said it's 1080p by default.
Erica's video (Watch at 3m4s)
Mathew's video (Watch at 2m17s)
I think you can toggle it manually, pretty sure I've understood that and it only makes sense.
Not that you should want it to run in 4k all day but for vr or something and actual 4k content.

My understanding that the default to 1080P is a Android N default to save battery life, you can set it to 4K under display in system settings

You can change the resolution in the settings menu and if you choose 4K, all the contents will be shown in 4K, same thing with 1080P and 2K.

Are you sure these guys even checked? Kinda sucks if it doesn't. I mean its something that really isn't needed. I owned the z5 premium and had it emulate 4k all the time with a kernel and then in the end just went back to stock but it its also something reviewers would target as an issue
I hope there will be simple hack to enable such a feature. This will be needed for example when you want to watch VR video with cardboard using custom app, even if content will be 4k by default app will not enable it.
Yea you can enable it to 2K 4K with abd. I just wanted to see if Sony had implemented to change the display res under the settings, Guess they did NOT.
Youtube now supports 4K resolution for the XZ Premium. That's what i like most!

You can try this method when you get the phone.
Plus I saw it in a video that Sony mentioned that they may include an option to change the resolution in future update. I think they should but I would just use it in 2K once I get the device.
yes i knew this adb trick from the old sony xperia 4k Handy, i make it so bevor i sell it, but this was not a good option, the apps/players for the VR 360 movies working bad, to small on the Display........you would not happy with this Settings
then Sony make a new 4K Handy, and what? Same fuc....k
4K only works in Sony Photo App and Sony Videoplayer........but this can not play 360 or 180 Videos corretly with motion, only still.
Techradar says:
"You won’t find a sharper screen on another smartphone, and unlike its 4K-toting predecessor you actually get the full resolution all the time. The Z5 Premium would only deliver the full 4K experience when you were watching video of the same resolution, whereas on the new Xperia XZ Premium it’s 3840 x 2160 all the way – from the home screen and browser to the app store and your social media profiles."
I think it is a mistake from Techradar, but what do you think, can it be true?

You won't get higher resolution graphics in any game by changing the resolution to 4k. All you will do is zoom out really far making things really hard to see and the ui will be tiny. It would only be worth it in games that use proper scaling and there aren't many aaa games on Android that might do it. Buy a 4k phone for videos and photos. Don't expect people to quadruple their graphics production workload for such a niche gaming market.

if you check mods section of the XZ Premium forum, you will find a ''trick'' (by ADB) to change the resolution to native 4K, with this method everything will be displayed in native 4K resolution (really appreciate this mod), hope I helped !

Is there any chance S8 be able to shoot [email protected]?

Well title says it all, Is there any chance S8 variants be able to shoot [email protected]fps or is it a chipset limitation from SD/Exynos?
It's something i really liked in iPhone so I'd love to see it if there's any work around.. I know it supports [email protected]fps but I'm not interested in that.
You are mixing Hz to FPS. They are not the same.
You can read more about the differences between them here: http://www.avadirect.com/blog/frame-rate-fps-vs-hz-refresh-rate/
But to your question, the Galaxy S8 phones can only capture 1080p with 30 and 60 FPS. But it can capture 240 FPS in 720p.
Technically it should be able to, i remember on my nexus 5 there was a hack that allowed the phone to record [email protected] and also [email protected] But the nexus 5 was an aosp phone, so the sources were easily available.

That's what I'm thinking also.. If it's not a limitation of the chipset it could probably be bypassed with an app, even if you need root access to do it.. That's why I asked..
In my iphone 7 plus that I had before I could shoot @120fps with a program and also increase dramatically the bitrate of video, that's why I asked. Curious to see why is there the limitation (is it s/w or h/w related)
I don't think so

Camera app? I can't find anything relevant on the play store. You don't mean the default camera app right? Because this is what I'm talking about it's limited to 4k and 1080p/60fps or 720p/240fps
It is called "open camera" just search that on the playstore you can alter many many settings within the app for the camera but it takes a knowledge of photography to essentially know how it works I'd say...

Is FiLMiC Pro works on Xperia 5 II?

Hi everyone,
I'm interested in this phone, but sadly there is no available store in my country that I can test the device, online purchase only.
I've read that GCam support is broken because of Sony hardware/software settings.
So, Is FiLMiC supported? It's mostly Camera APIs and not processing much as GCam. Anyone can test with FiLMiC Pro Evaluator on the Playstore and give me a screenshot, please? I know There is Cinema Pro on Xperia but FiLMiC Pro has some solid settings like high bitrate and gimbal connect.
Thanks a lot

Much appreciate
Nice to see Sony did not mess with general Camera API.
This app does not fully reflect the performance.
On my x5ii, Android 10, Filmic pro 6.13.3
1080p 8bit HEVC/AVC just fine
res above 1080p 8bit HEVC/AVC jumped frame
res above 1080p 10bit HDR HEVC just fine
The developers promised to fix this issue in the next release.
Thank you for sending in that information! I submitted your information to our developers and just heard back from them. In order to fix the problem you were experiencing we are going to have to use a limited mode for resolutions above 1080p—this change will be made in an upcoming update to FiLMiC Pro. In case you're not aware, there are multiple image buffer options available within the Android camera framework and each of them gives access to different features but has different drawbacks. We use the advanced image buffer in order to provide the advanced features that we do, but if the advanced image buffer won't allow us to provide a stable frame rate—as you've experienced here—then we switch to using the limited buffer type instead.
This limited mode uses a different version of the video recorder, which limits what features we're able to use at those frame rate/resolution configurations.
'Limited mode' restrictions are as follows:
Aspect Ratios: ‘Crop Source to Overlay’ unavailable
Zoom: Smooth adjustment unavailable
Cinematographer Kit: Limited availability on some devices
Anamorphic Desqueeze Unavailable
So once the update is available that changes 2k+ resolution to limited mode, those functions will no longer be available at high frame rates. This is a hard decision to make as it does remove feature support, but it will enable us to provide stable high frame rates instead.
I hope that clears up what will be happening, but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out!
