A noob Magisk Question - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

I have rooted my OP6 using the following guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76633618&postcount=70
I have Magisk manager installed (obviously as part of the rooting process).
I see a list of available Magisk modules in Magisk manager. Similar modules are also available for the Xposed framework.
My question is : What's the benefit of installing Xposed framework and then Xposed modules v. installing similar Magisk modules using Magisk manager? I am new to Magisk but have used Xposed modules in the past.
Thank You!

Magisk will keep SafetyNet passing, so if you using Android Pays and others apps that require SafetyNet to pass, Magisk is only option...

SafetyNet Xposed framework (systemless) with Magisk Samsung S8

I'm new to this so..
I got Ambasadii ROM on my S8, and downloaded and installed the Xposed Framework in the Magisk Modules, is there a way to bypass SafetyNet somehow?
It works great with it disabled but since it is systemless I was hoping I could do something without having to disable Xposed.
If you use xposed you will always fail safety net. Time to make a choice.

[Question] How to completely uninstall edXposed?

Hi. I recently got banned from.Snapchat and now I want to uninstall that thing.
How do I do this correctly? (Have the Riru - Core, Riru - EdXposed Modules installed in Magisk + EdXposed Installer.apk).

edXposed's uninstaller is if you installed it in system. MAGISK is systemless.
MAGISK works by making a fake system partition, and tricking the device into booting it (Oversimplification). Upon boot modules are merged with system. This is what allows you to pass safety net. No changes actually effect system. Hence systemless.
If edXposed is installed as a MAGISK modules it isn't "installed" until device boot.
If you installed it with a MAGISK modules simply removing the MAGISK module will uninstall it.

[Guide] [UPDATED] [Safety Net CTS Profile/ Device certification Fix] edXposed on MIUI

DISCLAIMER: I'M NOT IN ANY WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES THAT MAY RESULT DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY BY FOLLOWING THIS GUIDE.
Note : This tutorial assumes thay you're rooted with the latest magisk.
Well, after a ton of search and trying almost everything, I finally found a way to get edXposed working on the latest Android 10 MIUI. Just follow the steps below
1. Download the below files
a. edXposed for magisk (download the YAHFA version)
https://ci.appveyor.com/project/ElderDrivers/edxposed/builds/29965638/artifacts
b. Download the latest riru core (v 19.7)
https://github.com/RikkaApps/Riru/releases
c. edXposed installer. Download the "installer" version 2.2.4 and not the "manager".
https://github.com/ElderDrivers/EdXposed
2. Flash the riru core and then the edXposed ( YAHFA version) modules via magisk.
3. Reboot.
4. Install the edXposed installer
That's it.
If for some reason you can't boot your phone use the "magisk manager from recovery" to remove edXposed and riru core modules from recovery. Search for it on XDA.
Tested and found working on my Poco F1 running MIUI 11.0.4 EU Android Q/ Android 10, rooted with magisk 20.3 , running stock kernel and latest official TWRP recovery.
Tested modules :
CustoMIUIzer
Greenify
XprivacyLua
(All credits go to the guys at magisk)
Update:
Safety Net CTS profile fix :
Download this edXposed module
https://repo.xposed.info/module/com.cofface.ivader
Activate it in the edXposed manager and reboot.
That's it.
Update 2:
1. Apparantly this module only fakes the status of the CTS profile but most banking apps still work.
2. Chrome seems to crash while this module is activated.
Update 3:
Safety net with CTS profile passes without the module now.
Thank you works great miui eu 11.0.4
CustoMIUIzer module

Preferred the 0.4.6.1 (4497)-selhygwy (sandhook).
So far, greenify works on this version. How's yours?
I can't seem to find the edXposed "installer" version 2.2.4

It's an xposed module that sends fake/ no personal data to any app that you want like device identifiers, IMEI etc.
Search on XDA.

Me too. But managed to find after googling browser.

Thanks for all the info but i can't seem to make it work... i tried multiple versions of Magisk, Riru, Edxposed and Edxposed installer but it always tells me the Xposed framework is not installed. Everything in magisk looks good and both modules are activated.
I don't really get it (i'm on a mi 9T)
If you have any idea i'd appreciate it (already spent hours on this forum and google to try to resolve this issue)

There is new update on magisk, try it.
And don't use edxposed installer.
Step:
1. Install riru core from magisk, reboot
2. Install edxposed from magisk, reboot
3. Install edxposed manager, see edxposed active or not.
Done to no avail... tried with Sandhook and Yahfa with magisk 20.3 / 20.1 and Riru 19.7/19.5/19.3 and 6 different Edxposed + Edxposed manager and installer

OP updated for the "safety net - CTS profile fix. "
Thanks but i can't seem to make it work. Safetypatch doesn't work, Props doesn't work either. I'm just going to give up... i spent too many hours just to get Customiuizer and trusted devices to work.

Yup props don't work. But this edXposed module worked like a charm. Just installed and enabled it and everything was fine.
I'm on MIUI 11.0.6 EU, magisk 20.3, riru core 19.7, edXposed 0.4.6.1 (4491) YAHFA

Questions about Magisk vs EdXposed

I just rooted my OP7P(OOS103.5). It's been like 5 years since I last rooted a phone, so I have a few questions that may sound dumb and may be repetitive to y'all.
From what I can tell Magisk is today's Xposed, but it has way less modules. Xposed had hundreds? Thousands?
Should I be using EdXposed as a module source instead of Magisk? Where's the best place to go looking for modules?
Should I have a busybox installed at all times or is that just for specific things?
What's a good adblocker?
What's a good debloater?
What modules do you use and find essential?
Sorry for asking questions that have probably already been asked, but many thanks to anyone who bothers answering!
You can use both
Magisk is today's SuperSU, so it grants root access to the applications who request it using a toast notification (where you can allow/decline access)
You can also install modules systemlessly in Magisk (instead of flashing a .zip in TWRP, you install it in Magisk)
For instance, you can install EdXposed in Magisk, then you can install all the Xposed modules you want through EdXposed manager.

[Android 10] install EdXposed and Xposed without loosing safety net

Hi,
My question is simple, what is the difference between Xposed and EdXposed, and if there is a way to install it without loosing safety net.
My phone is a Oneplus 7 with android 10.
Thanks and best wishes for the new year!
EdXposed Framework allows to install XPosed Framework on devices running Android 10, Pie, and Oreo .
EdXposed requires your device must be rooted with Magisk v20.2+
By means of MagiskHide you can prevent SafetyNet's hardware attestion will fail.

Latest SafetyNet version not only checks for Android got rooted but also for device's bootloader got unlocked. The problem for John Wu - developer of Magisk - is that the new key attestation workflow now is hardware-based, and the code is sent by OEM to Google's server. May be some day he will find a solution ... it's unlikely that MagiskHide will be able to alter the key or intercept the transmission, IMHO.
Resume: Until then SafetyNet works as expected by OEMs and app developers, who have an interest in having an unmodified Android.
To add, you could try magisk module MHPC (Magisk Hide Props Config) which is what you'd use to modify device fingerprint and other system props.
The particular features in MHPC you may want to use which MIGHT get SafetyNet to pass are the Device Simulation and Force Basic Attestation. Combined, along with setting a similar device's fingerprint as long as that selected device isn't designed with hardware attestation, could be enough to fool SN. EdXposed coupled with Magisk's own Hide feature to hide themselves from GSF, GPS, Gpay, etc, should prove successful. The issue lies mostly with which order the software is installed and hidden, sometimes with rebooting being absolutely essential between certain steps. It really is a trial and error process.
