Wallpapers, sounds, bootanimation, ... - Nokia 6.1 (2018) Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi,
if someone is interested, I "extracted" some Nokia files from system.
For now there are wallpapers, sounds (ringtones, notifications, ui and alarm), bootanimation with sound file and the demo video.
You can find it here on my Gdrive.
If you know about something else, let me please know, I will try to add it.

thanks for this

Can you dump the whole system partition?

Converting Bootscreen to 2.1

Is there a good writeup on the requirements for setting up a 2.1 bootscreen? I've seen some nice 1.5/6 ones and i'd like to port them over the 2.1.
THanks!
i'm pretty sure you can do it the same way.
All of the 1.5 style bootscreens use an xml format with animated gifs, while it seems the 2.1 ones are PNG frames with a dat type control file.
You can still use the old bootscreens, you just have to remove bootanimation.zip, create a bootscreen folder inside /system/media, then drop your bootscreen in there.
I've flashed zips that do exactly that and they never work for me.
bootanimation.zip removed. reboot.
flash whatever bootscreen. /system/media/bootscreen is created. contains gif, xml, and audio. get blackscreen during boot and not animation.
the only ones I have gotten to work are tailored for 2.1 specifically.

post one of the zips up and let me take a look at it, maybe something's different in the xml.
And you are on Sprint? Some people have been having troubles if they are not on Sprint.

Thanks Regaw. You're right i'm Cellsouth.
The ones that work for me are folders containing PNG frames and a desc file (no xml). There is a supernova out that works fine and it has this format. I have access to GIMP so i've considered pulling all the frames out of one of the gifs, saving them as PNG and then recreating the directory structure I see in a standard bootanimation.zip. However, I haven't seen a batch method in GIMP for saving the frames as individual PNG files so it would kind of be a pain in the arse.
I've tried many of the ones in the 2.1 collection thread, same results every time. phone works great just the black screen during boot.
okkkkkkkkkk...........
so...
Can someone tell me the format for creating a bootanimation.zip that uses a desc file and PNG files? I've looked at the desc file and can obviously see where it has resolution info and references the part folders, hasn't anyone created a bootscreen in this format before though?
Thanks.

Lock sounds

I have been able to customize every sound for my phone except the sound when my phone locks or unlock. Has anyone found the file that needs to be modified in order to change that? I have tried to use many of the lockscreen replacement apps, but none habe satisfied what I'm looking for. TIA.

replace the unlock.ogg with whatever .ogg file you want to use inside the system/media/audio/ui folder. I used my droid.ogg for each time i unlocked the screen, but make sure its the same file name as the one your replacing or it won't work.
edit: I uploaded the droid.ogg file, just rename it to Unlock.ogg before you paste it into the system/media/audio/ui folder.
Hope this helps
be sure to unzip it first lol
I have tried to change these files with no success. What exactly is a .ogg file? Will any media file work if I change the extension to .ogg? ie: .mp3 to .ogg? Thanks

you need to convert not rename the audio files to .ogg for the phone to play specific unlock/lock sounds.
I have mine set to Ep2 Lightsaber open/close

the .ogg file is inside the .zip i attached, i just can't attach it as an actual file since XDA doesn't allow that format unless its zipped
rename droid.ogg to unlock.ogg
i've done this many times before with all the ROMs i've used and it works as long as its a Froyo rom since it was added in 2.2 for the Incredible.
.ogg is a format thats open source, playable on WinAMP, VLC, and GOM player.
if you need to convert a file that you don't have in .ogg format, use this link to upload it and convert it online.
http://media.io/
it will ask you to browse for the file you want converted, then it will ask you what format you want to convert it to
Hope that helps, if so, please click "Thanks"
I know I posted this in the other lock sounds thread, but I thought I would post it here to for those that may be watching this thread for an answer.
SUCCESS! I was actually able to use a different site using my phone. http://www.online-convert.com/
I then used root explorer to rename and copy the file into the correct system folder. Works great now. My only complaint is that it seems I can't control the volume of the lock/unlock sounds I chose using any of the volume settings. It's always on full blast unless I set to silent or vibrate. Any ideas? Thanks.

I dont think you can adjust the volume of the unlock UI notification within of the basic controls of the volume (RT/Media/Alarm). Only thing i can think of is editing the sound file to a lower volume you can use most audio editors/mixers to do that. Then convert/overwrite

SUCCESS AGAIN!! I did some research and found out you can change the system volume, which controls the lock sounds, via an app called Audio Manager. I just used the free widget version and lowered my system volume by one or two. Works great. I don't personally use the widget portion of the app. Thanks for everyone's help on this. Hope my trials help someone else find the answers they need.

[Q] how to capture a moving image

So, I want to create a theme from startup animation to shutdown animation, as well as the wallpapers, icons, fonts, etc. I am working with an Imagio running stock Verizon TF3D 2.0 and WM6.5. I use HDWall for wallpapers and icons, KDFonts for all font related items.
BUT I want to create the splash startup and shutdown screens. I want to make a full Xbox 350 theme, and want to capture the startup swirl of the new Xbox dashboard.
Can anyone tell me how to do that? I have a friend who does a ton of video stuff, and another who is a microsoft computer genius, so they can get this going for me, but the video guy is not sure how to capture that. Any ideas?
Never mind, my video guy has informed me that he has allready pulled the video, and broke it down into its over 150 frames! next step is for GIF conversion!
Now, does anyone know where to get the sounds?!

How to add custom ringtones and wallpapers on CM6?

i installed cm6. i cant find any guide anywhere on how to add custom ringtones and custom wallpaper to cm6 on the g1. how do you do it? what types of files are recognized? in what folder do i put them? the cyanogenmod wiki shows how to install cm6 but doesnt explain how to do such basic things. how do you do this on cm6? thanks
first of all try to post your questions in the q&a section.
what purpose are you trying to add ringtones and wallpapers, is this for your own rom development? do you want these saved into the system files?
if you just want more useable ringtones and wall papers there are tons of apps that give you this just fine, zedge for example has lots.
i know you said custom, there are apps in the market for this too, mp3ringtone or something like that.
or real easy just put a folder on your sd card named ringtones, one notifications, and one wallpappers --
make sure you have the files in the right format and put them in there
1. what format do the ringtones and wallpapers have to be?
2. do i just create 2 folders 1 called ringtones and the other called wallpaper? where do i place them in the sd card? root of the card?
thanks in advance
wallpaper .jpg is fine, others should work
ringtones .mp3 - again others probably work
put on the root of the sd card, yes name the folders wallpapers and ringtones
your os should put them in place like when you go into settings>sounds>ringtones it should show up. if not they are still accessible once on your phone and you can set them. such as when you go into wallpaper you can pick from your gallery to set wallpaper or contact icon.
if you want to incorporate these into the rom your running that takes a bit more effort
well maybe not too much, i think you can use root explorer (or other file managers) to add directly into the proper place in your os, i know you can go into system>fonts then add font choices
im not in front of my g1 right now but if you want to do it this way im sure a little exploring on your own will give you the answer
i put a jpeg image in several folders on my sd card. i go to the phone clikc settings wallpaper, then gallery, it doesnt show up in gallery. i then click file manager and find my jpeg. i click on it and it sends me back to the previous menu. ??????? did cyanogen make it so you cant use custom wallpapers???? your forced to use his choices? the same for ringtones. i cant even get my mp3 to be listed with cyanogens ringtones. this is such a simple task on all my other phones. but with this custom firmware i have no idea how to do this.
put the .mp3 into a folder named ringtones. put that folder on the root of your sd card. this should work fine ive done it on many roms including cyanogen based ones. if not you can download an app from the market that will do custom ringtones for you.
as for images, yes they can be used as wallpaper, hell if you take a picture with camera on your phone it can be used as wallpaper.

i did that. the dumb software doesnt work. i made a folder called ringtones put it in root of sd and put an mp3 in it. i go to sound and ringtones and its NOT on the list. i made a folder called wallpapers and put in a jpeg. then i go to home and click settings then wallpaper then there are 3 choices: cyanogen wallpaper its not in there. then i click gallery. it asks do i want gallery or file manager. i click gallery. it takes me to a screen with a frozen pic that doesnt change or let me choose anything. on the upper right is a camera buton. i click it and takes me to camera but i cannot even choose photos ive taken for wallpaper. then i click on file manager i find my jpeg and i click on it. it takes me back to choosing gallery or file manager. WTF???? you cant use a custom wallpaper or ringtone with this cyanogen software? did he do this on purpose to force you to use his wallpapers and ringtones. how the hell do i use a custom jpeg as a wallpaper or custom mp3 as ringtone????? nothing you said is working and there are no guides, not even on cyanogenmods wiki. all ive found is guides for the stock OS. none for this custom cm6 firmware

Calm down first of all.
It's not on the wiki because it's a general android question, not specifically cm6
Try the file manager way.
im thinking your problem is not cm6, i think its an error in your flash of the rom. something is corrupt. there shouldnt be any issues, if you are willing to reflash your rom. if you are fed up flash a new rom all together, cm6 worked poorly for me and i got rid of it a long time ago. but it did let me choose custom ringtones and wallpapers i remember that specifically (had a wallpaper of my girlfriend) so be patient, try the fixing it with the file manager or just reflash or choose another rom. try not to get too upset here
Hi,
what you need is a folder media in the root of your sd-card. Under media create folders audio and resource. Under audio create the folders alarms, notifications and ringtones. Put wallpapers into resource, alarms in audio\alarms, notification in audio\notifications and ringtones in audio\ringtones. That's it!

Replace a wallpaper inside an app with a custom one.

Dear developers,
I installed meebo music player. The player uses background images as its skin. However, I want to replace these images with my own. I tried with Root Explorer. But the system does not allow me to copy the files to drawable folder of the app.
Can anyone tell me how to solve this? I want my wallpapers as skin. Please help.

Decompile the app, change the background images to the ones you want (keeping the same file names) within the drawable folder for your phone (if they are using multiple density drawable) and recompile, but if it uses any of Google's services the certificate will be different and those parts will no longer work.
