HTC EVO Volume booster???

Hey guys,
Im looking for a volume booster since i listen to music on my phone everyday, i tried Audio Hack
but seems not to work on my Evo (its unrevoked rooted, if that helps) let me know if anyone can help me out. I need volume like the iphone!! Love my Evo tho.

Just wanted to bump this. The past several days have afforded me the chance to stream music on my evo from xm at work, and could for sure use just a little more volume to hear it over the noise of my workplace.

Volume for music seems pretty loud for me if the phone is close to you. Isn't anyone worried about damaging the speaker? My previous phone after a year the sound quality for music sucked and I didn't even use it that much..Had to get a replacement and really noticed a difference. I'm afraid I'm going to damage the speaker over time just having the volume up all the way without an audio boost hack.

I actually would love to boost the headphone volume.
It's fine most of the time, but when I'm on the train it can be difficult to hear even when I have the headphone volume at full.

Seems to me this is probably more of an issue with the particular headset you are using. The EVO gets pretty loud on my headset.

There's an ear piece volume boost in nentarchy's kernel. I'm actually going to flash to latest one he just released cause once you go too high, things get distorted. He lowered it a bit supposedly in the new release.

I'm using ipod headphones. I pluged em into the evo and compared to them to my ipod touch, the volume is much lower from the evo

im using the iphone headphones with the evo and its pretty loud for me i can't even turn it all the way up...hurts my ears a little over half way on the volume bar

i can say that the iphone headphones are lower in volume compared to my sony headphones by far. not touching the volume and just switch headsets i have to lower the volume on the sony's..... the sony headset are true stereo headphones and not for phones as they do not have a mic.

is there any way to make the rings louder? i remember there was a hack to make the touch pro louder and i wish there was something to make the evo louder everything is perfect except that i rarely hear my phone as its always in my pocket ive even make the quality higher on ,my ringtones and its still the same...

we would be nice if someone would reply to this thread with an idea or a fix for this as i would be interested because my speaker volume is too low i had in idea of hex editing any comments on this idea would be nice

Well i use always semi professional headphones, since, to me, common ones suck to no end (professionals are way to expensive through). If I put the sound on the maximun or one level down, sounds good on normal musics (CD base decibels). Non normalized files (lower volume) become pratically inaudible. This happens also with the speaker.
I dont want to continuously have a 12 inch speakr on my EVO, i just want to listen in a heatly safe - good volume without put on max and up when file have a lower volume. XD

Seems fine to me with the included headphones... Not sure if using PowerAmp while listening to my albums is making a difference but volume seems about right foe r me...

how about without Headphones the volume is still not loud without them...no problem with headphones on

Guy, the problem has to do with more than the Evo. If your impedance level is high with the headphones you are using then the Evo cant drive them. Ultimately any 'hack' is just going to cause distortion at high levels. You need to get some sort of amp. I suggest CMOY.

things i can recommend. IF you are rooted.
1.BEFORE TRYING THE FOLLOWING DO A LOT OF READING. IT HELPS.
2. try an alternate kernel..... either netarchy toastod or ziggy. they have audio
tweaks built into them.
3. dsp manager. allows you to tweak audio further.

[Q] Music quality issue "NO BASS"

I recently got my SGS I9000 international version with Froyo 2.2 pre-installed. when I plugged in ear-phones which came with it, the music quality was Okay but it was lacking bass so I tried changing settings, equalizer, effects, 5.1 Ch everything but nothing enhanced Bass.
I use Power AMP on my other android phone(LG P500) and when I installed same on SGS and increased bass, sound distortion was very high and output was bad and it couldn't produce bass however with same settings sound is great on my LG P500.
I have tried many headsets ans even external amplifier but no good.
Please Help! How can I fix this!

Where did you find an equalizer?

Dont know if you want to go down this route or know how to do this...go and look in the dev section...flash voodoo kernel 5.1 sound fix will sort your problem out....such a massive difference.

I am wondering if its a hardware issue or software as I have googled a lot about it and didn't fine anyone else complaining for same issue so is it only with my device?
An it would be difficult for me to go for flashing or porting ROMs etc. as I don't want to loose warranty.
Can you or someone from XDA tell me that what is the exact issue with sound? or can someone please install Power AMP and check the sound increasing Bass?

I did not make any MOD to my phone, and the stock BASS / SUB / BASE sound is very good, even when i stream over BLUETOOTH to my car
or in my BLUETOOTH stereo headphones
it sounds even richer when using the 3.5 mm plug

Finally I flashed kernel to Voodoo_stable_5.1 (voided warranty).
Installed Voodoo sound from market it has option "bass on headphones" under FM Radio
Under WM8994 it has Headphone amplifier which increased the sound volume only "not bsss"
So still the issue remains same......I m not getting punchy bass as I have in other comparatively mid level phones.....I bought it because GSM Arena mentioned that it has perfect sound quality.
Please tell me is it the issue with my SGS only or every SGS has same kind of sound.

Yes manit, I can confirm which the fm radio on not vodoo kernel have "no bass". My friend have samsung wave 8500(bada o.s.)and the bass are ok on his fm radio. Don't understand why, but is so.

Actually I m not concern about FM radio sound......my problem is when I listen music in music player or "Power AMP " the music lacks Bass

Generally speaking, the earphones that come with phones are terrible and are not meant for music appreciation.. I'm not really surprised that you'd find terrible bass/distortion using them.

sony's MDR-XB inear headphoes good for our galaxy S in terms of BASS Punches is it ?

Quality seems fine to me... and quite durable!
Definitely better than stock ipod earplugs...

The quality of the bundled headphones could be worse...
With regards to sound quality flash a kernel that supports Voodoo Sound 4 and install the Voodoo app from the market place. From there if you plan on messing with the EQ in programs such as PowerAMP or Mixzing then turn the gain down (a long way down...) before you start mucking around with the bass. After that your music should be distortion free and very rumbley should you choose to make it so.

i saw a huge diff of sound from eclair to froyo...there r kernel tht improve the sound..but overall what quality of ear phones u use gives a huge diff too.i used panasonic,sony,sennheiserz,philips all were ear buds but i liked creative and i like it.its a little punchy wiv clearity.cheeerz

has anyone found a successful way to boost volume ? seems a bit quiet on headphones as well as speakers.
i know my dad bought a cheap mp3 player and there was a software limit to headphones due to EU regulations !? is anyone in the US finding the volume low ?

Ive been using Equalizer app and its pretty good. But since 3.1 I'm getting alot of fc. Also if I am running playerpro I can't enable Equalizer. I need tofc playerpro first and then launch Equalizer in order for it to work. Even with Equalizer the speakers sucks. Hopefully there's a fix soon with the right and left speakers

My volume goes to 11 on my US Transformer. If you turn it all the way up the speakers are distorting so bad I thought they we going to pop. Definitely overdriving them.

seriously though my dads mp3 player was limited to a specific volume on UK settings. he changed to US and the volume significantly increased.....

US transformer and the volume was too low with my crappy over the ear headphones, but was louder with a borrowed pair of the standard iphone headphones (in-ear) ... still could have used more volume though. This was while on an airplane so it was a noisy environment.

Do any of these apps allow you to change the balance on left/right speaker? I'm looking for something that will let me play a video file with only the left speaker or only the right speaker. Anyone know of anything?

Headphone output is incredibly disappointing

The entire audio experience with anything plugged in to the headphone jack is really poor. I immediately noticed a difference in quality as compared to my old LG V10 (even without the Hi-Fi DAC on the V10 enabled). Everything sounded muddy, with a lack of treble. I messed around with the equalizer and got really strange results. Adding treble or bass actually lowered the volume significantly. I tried the "Adapt Sound" feature, and it helped slightly, but I've recently noticed what I consider the weirdest part of the experience. The last 2 clicks of volume (the highest two settings) have significantly less treble than anywhere else in the volume range. This was the source of the muddiness I had been experiencing (the amp is weak enough that the top two volume settings are what I would consider to be normal listening volume). If you listen carefully, you can actually hear certain parts of the sound (bass, vocals, treble, depending on the song) will stay at exactly the same volume while others will increase with the volume slider.
I don't know if this is a software thing (horrible EQ coding), or a hardware thing (the amp is so poor that they have to limit the overall power when you increase the treble or bass). Either way, I've never experienced this before in any other phone I've ever had.
I listen to a lot of music via headphones or aux cable on my phone, so this is a really disappointing discovery for me. Looks like I'll be bringing my headphone amp with me, even for use with headphones that really shouldn't need it (60 ohms). There is a range of volume where things sound acceptable, but it's crazy to me that I need an external device to control the volume because things get so crazy when I control it with the phone.

I wasn't posting this to bash the phone. There are lots of things I like better about the S7E than the V10. I just wanted to post this in case it was important to someone else deciding whether or not to choose this phone. It's not a deal breaker for me. In fact, I still haven't turned my V10 in (T-Mobile Jump on Demand), so I could easily still keep it. But I'm not going to.

I've not noticed this myself but I'm not as big with my music (through my headphones) as some people. I listen through my bluetooth speaker and rarely through headphones so when I do I wouldn't really notice anything like this.

Are the DAC`s the same in both SD820 and Exynos variants? exynos have always had the Wolfson DAC in reasent galaxys which is awsome!

I think there are different DAC's. The Exynos uses one from the company that used to provide the Wolfson chip. So it could be the same/similar one or another model. I think so far nobody knows for sure. The SD820 uses a different DAC.

Yes but it sucks. If you raise the treble it will lower bass/mids etc. Really crappy EQ totally unusable for music lovers.
Though I find my Harman Kardon CL headphones sounds fine. Not as fine as in my Huawei Mate 8 perhaps but good enough.

Let me guess, you are using a Snapdragon 820 variant ? The Qualcomm DAC (which is used on these devices) is being known for being average (at best, if not mediocre), every Samsung device sporting a Qualcomm chipset has been known to feature a poor DAC, it is sad that Qualcomm does not care much about improving its performances in the sound department. You would have had better luck with the Exynos variant of the S7 in that regard.

I thought this was just me. Glad to see others are noticing this as well. I agree that upping the EQ doesn't change the volume at all. Furthermore, adding bass doesn't isolate the bass, it just sounds like the entire song is played through a tube. Every adjustment seems to touch the entire sound profile as a whole rather than just targeting the specific frequencies shown in the equilizer.
I've gotten too used to AudioFX on my Oneplus One, where I could really crank the bass while keeping the clarity of the highs and mids.

I normally don't use Bluetooth audio but I did notice a huge decline in audio quality from my Galaxy Note 5. Bluetooth audio playing to my Denon x4100W on B&W CM6S2s and Hsu VTF3-Mk5 sub from my S7E is very flat, almost monotone. I would say the Galaxy Note 5 BT audio was acceptable. I'll need to do some more fiddling around with the S7E to see if I can improve the sound.

I just can't seem to get the EQ to change individual frequencies, it seems to move the whole soundstage. Tuning the bass has an effect on every frequencies, at least for me.

I use Spotify, output over headphones is great. For some reason the same music sucks on Tidal, I have to crank the volume almost all the way instead of just halfway on Spotify so I'm rocking that instead. And with Tidal the quality isn't as good, I have no explanation.

Root + Viper4Android is the way to go if you want a proper EQ.

Yeah the sound isn't as good as I was hoping for but I can live with it.

Exynos S7 Edge here and after doing a quick comparison to my iPod Touch 5th Gen, comparing its audio quality and amp volume through my Bose AE headphones, they sound the same quality wise, but the iPod can go a slight but noticeably bit louder when both devices are at maximum volume. They sound the exact same to me quality wise when they are both at the same volume. I haven't done extensive testing though, just first impressions. I wouldn't be playing at maximum volume anyway though through headphones, even on the S7 Edge because its plenty loud enough for my needs.
It should be capable enough hooked up to a car stereo.

yeah im on exynos as well and I have no complians, sounds like my old S6 with wolfson DAC but with more volume.

I'm a huge audio enthusiast and it's a nice thing to hear.
Btw, was the wolfson DAC also available in the Exynos S5? (900h) I currently own this, as well as the Exynos s7 (couldn't test the audio so far) and wouldn't mind pairing the Exynos s5 with a headphone AMP and turn it into a dedicated media player.

Appears awful when compared to my s5. Any Base makes vocal go almost to a pint you can't hear it and too much vocal results in tinny Base.
I've rooted and put v4a on the phone,but it's still awful with that too. Hoping a kernel with audio enhancements such as boeffla may make things better though?

I don't care about the audio quality of the noise coming out of that little noisemaker they call "speaker" but when I plug it in my car with the AUX cable, it seems to me so far that I have to fiddle with EQ much more than on my Note 5. The audio quality of LG Flex 2 was better than S5, Note 5 better than Flex 2, S7E... ? I don't know yet. Probably better than Flex 2 but it can't touch Note 5. IMHO
Note 5 has Wolfson chip AFAIK.What's in the S7E I don't know.

Guys, check the kernel and ROM forum. Root has been available since Saturday.
V4a works by flagging a zip file that makes changes to v4a to allow it to work with kernel selinux enforced set, then put v4a in compatible mode. It sounds awful though for some reason.
Would highly recommend using neutron from the play store as I found this produces far superior sound quality.

Oh I should mention root is only available for exynos version and not snapdragon.

I find the audio fine using the music player neutron and have setup soundalive and UHQ upscaler and tube amp pro.

Aux Cord Noise~?
I'd love to know if I am the only one experiencing problems with using an auxiliary jack cord?
It's littered with noise no matter what. Headphones sound great though...
I returned my first device thinking there was a physical problem with the port only to find the same problem in this one.
5 different auxiliary cables purchased and tested all poor quality only on this device.

Seems rather odd even samsung support has no idea about this either.

But Samsung uhq upscaler work only with Samsung headphones (like level on wireless pro), so possibility of using this feature is limited

Identical issue for me as well. Thought I was going insane...tried three different aux cords and tried cleaning inputs in the car and on the phone. Headphones work fine. Toggling UHQ upscaler fixes the issue for me too. Very annoying....but glad I'm not the only one.

I am extremely disappointed with the S7 Edge's audio quality. First of all, the bundled earphones are bad and be it any file - FLAC UHQ 24 bit or an MP3, the sound pis very muddy. They fail to do justice to the lows and highs. Speaking for the device, my dad's Galaxy S5 sounds wonderful with heavy bass without compromising on the highs and the same goes with the Note 3. Samsung should have used a decent DAC and software to make the sound good for such a premium device. Even the low end Samsung devices have a good DAC.

If you want a phone for Audio get a ZTE Axon 7, HTC 10, LG V20. Only devices that are aiming for great audio quality :good:

There is nothing wrong with the DAC. It has a low noise floor and the frequency graph is almost completely flat. The headphone amp however is nothing to write home about. On the Exynos version you can at least edit the mixer.xml file to reduce the gimping Samsung did to the volume level to get a much louder sound without distortion. My RHA MA 750i have plenty of bass without the need to EQ etc.
Oh and the stock buds SUCK ASS

Don't feel like rooting the phone! I regularly use S Health and Knox.. I hope Samsung fixes audio in the next update (if that's possible).

Definitely not a need to root BUT if you do, you can still use S Health and Knox with Helios ROM (Stock with optional mods).
They won't. They've gone with the "good enough" approach with the audio rather than wanting to be the best.
