Google Pay on Chinese rom not working - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Questions & Answers

Hi,
I've been trying to get Google Pay working on my Mix 2s I bought from shanghai (still on the chinese rom, don't see much reason to switch). One thing that hasn't been working is the Google Pay. I can install the app (after services and all gapps are installed), but when I try to add a card, I get the following error for all my cards
"Can't add card right now
Please try again later. You can also try adding a different card."
I can't find anything about this online. I was hoping to get some help here. Maybe the safetynet on the stock chinese Miui doesn't pass by default?

There are apps you can download to check safety net status. There's a bugreport I found click!. Seems like you are not the only one. However now you have a reason to switch to xiaomi.eu or global rom

If you are willing to install Magisk and root your phone, you can get GPay working. For me it works but my bank does not support it yet.

I think the issue lies in the Chinese MIUI itself. I checked the status of my safetynet with an app, and it says that it passes. Seems like the only resolution is to change to the xiaomi.eu or the Global rom instead.
Thanks for the help though

Not sure now honestly. But what I did is: flashed chinese beta rom and magisk immediately after (comes with su hide and all stuff out of the box)
Therefore my device is "google play certified" when I check in the play store.
Is GPay supported in your location?

I've read around that magisk can brick a chinese stock rom, so i'm not willing to take that risk. Otherwise, ya, i've used Gpay for a while on my old oneplus one

No. Magisk works on chinese stable and developer(model XE). But gpay don't. If you install magisk on global rom, than you get bootloop. Anyway you can flash via twrp one more and all work again.

Model number ? XA?

I have the same issue with GPay on xiaomi.eu rom v8.5.17 (MIUI 9.6) - seems that the issue is somehow MIUI related, as the safety net test is passed, magisk works flawlessly but still no GPay please test on other MIUI version an let me know then

It doesn't work on MIUI 10 as well, has to be a MIUI bug as it affects both official Chinese releases as well as xiaomi.eu ROMs.
Anyway, filled a bug report, hope Xiaomi will fix it asap.

Again. On XE with global rom magisk don't work.

I'm in the UK and about to pull the trigger on a global ROM Mix Mix 2S from Geekbuying. I use Google Pay all the time (Galaxy S7). Are we saying that Google Pay won't work with this phone?

I'm confused. The previous post said with the XA model Google Pay was working (which uses NFC) yet you state that the XA model needs a fix to get NFC payments working. Can someone give some clarification.

Even for the beta team this ROM has bricked one device, so, do it on your risk.
Booted perfectly flashed with TWRP on mine. Thanks.
Could anyone test SafetyPass and GPay on this beta? Of course with Magisk installed. I'm wondering if this functionality has been fixed with this build

Then you only need to setup ro.build.fingerprint with magiskhide props config module. Everything is in the guide thread here on Xda.

I just flashed and Wifi is not working. Is this happening to anyone else?
EDIT: Looks like I didnt update firmware. I used MiFlash instead and its now working fine.
So whats the benefits besides it being MIUI 10. From what I have been reading not much. Just trying to do a cost / benefit analysis on upgrading...

Installed! Fairly nice. No notifications on lock screen but I figure that's more a theme issue than the miui 10. Like the jesters and full screen mode!

There are a few themes on the theme app that have lock screen notifications. These are old themes so they cause other crashes though.

It’s probably a programming item in MIUI 10... plus the fact that no themes made for 10 with notifications exist yet (or are very limited). My notifications light works so not a big deal. We’ll see what the next release gives us... I would assume they will try to drop a new beta weekly or bi-weekly. Haven’t been following how fast the China releases came out. Did anyone also notice or maybe it’s me... notification shade doesn’t change either with theme?

Android P Beta Google Pay?

I've searched a bunch and haven't seen a solution, but has anyone downloaded the lastest Android P Beta and lost Google Pay functionality? I haven't unlocked my bootloader or rooted the device, but I get the following screen when trying to set up Google Pay. Any ideas? Does the beta automatically unlock your bootloader?

I have the same problem. Does anyone have solution?
by design - gPay doesnt work on official beta even with MAGISK.
When I dirty flash mine Google pay worked fine just my dialer didn't work. So I did a factory reset and now my Google pay doesn't work says that my device may be modified. I would like to know a solution also other than going back to stock os.

He is talking about Google tez app which has been renamed to Google pay in India. Its an app/wallet where you can re-register the bank or UPI address.
Google pay ,outside india, refers to payment through NFC. Which i think is not working and known issue. We should clear this before discussion about Google "pay".

Google pay is working on OPEN BETA pie.
but you must be unrooted for that if you previously rooted and dirty flashed the rom even though it will not work.
If you are rooted then go to magisk click uninstall and reboot and then unistall gpay reinstall it and now try it works.
But if you are first time installer of rom then first boot to bluespark twrp.
WIPE data then flash the downloaded. Zip of OB3.
Then reboot and. Then Install google play now configure it works.
But rooted user it doesn't work, i have tried every single method to use it on rooted devices it cant works there

I'd like to know more details about this. When I had my OP 3T in the Beta program I needed to root it to apply the DayDream hack (the DayDream demo went fine BTW). It took me several tries to bring back the Google Play to work. First I had multiple try with SuperSU + suhide, but couldn't get it to work. Then I went with Magisk, but that required multiple tries. So many tries were frustrating, but I finally got my device into a fragile equilibrium, which I immediately lost with the next Beta update.
Now I have a OP 6, and I resisted the rooting so far, partially because of Google Pay. At the same time since Magisk worked with OP3T beta + Google Pay, what's the reason it would not be able to hide itself for Google Pay on OP 6 beta program? In fact it'd be enough if a couple of non-Indian guys would confirm here that they are part of the beta and have Google Pay (non Indian - sorry -, because several folks are interested in not the Indian Tez or whatever but the legit Google Pay).
Cheers

I've had the G9700 for about a week, and now I'm seriously considering selling it. It's a great phone in many respects, but that awkward means of utilising Magisk makes rooting it more trouble than it's worth, and I really need my Viper sound mod.
Unless someone comes up with a Snapdragon TWRP and patches it to Magisk like this, I might as well stick with my ZUK Z2 Pro: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...s10-magisk-t3965673/post80202818#post80202818

I've found Revolut to be unavailable in my Play Store as well, even on the EU ROM.
I had to download its latest apk from ApkMirror and install it that way, which got it working just fine and now the Revolut app even gets Play Store updates once it's been installed. Not sure what happened there.
Works for me also. No issues. xiaomi.eu rom.
Update:
I had it also on the Chinese rom, I just had to get the apk from the web.

ApkMirror is generally a reputable source, but I did check the file's checksum against the apk from play store on my old phone to be safe.
And a big question - are you guys rooted and Gpay works for ye?!
Hi guys, same problem but different phone (oneplus6) it is an odd issue where it seems to apparently reject many devices.
I dont feel easy about putting a banking app on from apkmirror though, but if it then can be updated on top from the store that makes me feel easier about it, thanks.

Yes, GPay is working just fine.
I've used it daily for about a month now, my Ultra is rooted with Magisk.
I have an issue here.. As far as Revolut installed just fine I am not able to authorise the card in GPay...
I have added the card no problems and it was authorized by Revolut in app but I’m stuck at the stage where you need to swipe the card with your phone to make it working - it gives me an error like "Bot so fast" although I stick and hold the card to the phone... Cant get around it.. Revolut and GPay have all permissions granted...
I just realized that when in Gpay and click on the card to read it opens 'MiSmartCards' - is this the way its supposed to be?
Any advice welcome..

Can I hide the use of a custom ROM from an app?

I'm using Sony Xperia XZ2, and just flashed Android 11 AOSP (because officially it only supports up to Android 10).
There is an app that does not run and gives me an error message and I suppose it's because it sees a custom ROM (didn't happen with Android 10).
Is there any thing to do about that?
Thank you!

IMO doesn't matter at all.
The cited "SafetyNet API" is integral part of "Google Play Services" what isn't location dependent, AFAIK.

If the Android system property values of ro.build.fingerprint and ro.vendor.build.fingerprint aren't the ones from device's Stock ROM ( which are certified by Google and pass SafetyNet ) the actually installed ROM is assumed to be a Custom ROM.
