Hi,
I have an Umidigi S2 Pro running UmiOS based on Nougat. The phone has 6GB of RAM but still randomly (?) cleans apps in background when only using <2GB. This means that most apps are stopped and then take a long time to start up or to switch between them. The Ummidigi forums have been no help for this. I have tried the battery settings and all other 'optimisation' settings but none have made any difference. In particular, WhatsApp and Gmail are always 'cleaned' within minutes of use. Facebook is cleaned randomly.
Is there any hack or app to stop this from happening? There seems to be a lot of conflicting system apps and settings in Android 7, all trying to close apps in background and no way to stop them.
Thanks,
I am not sure about your device brand. But for my phone, tried 3 steps as below. Just for your reference.
Settings -> Battery -> "Settings Gear",
Ture off the option to "Close excessively power-intensive apps"
Settings -> Apps, click the "Settings" at the bottom, tap "Special Access" -> Ignore battery optimisation,
Select the apps you want to keep alive by switching to "Allowed".
Settings -> Battery -> Lockscreen Cleanup,
Disable the options for all apps you want to keep alive.

Hello, Android keep killing apps. For example I browse web on Chrome, open Google Maps and after a few second switch back to the Chrome and it's already dead, so it take time till it opens and loads web page. It happening with basically every app including Google Now Luncher.
I haven't got any task manager, developers options are set to default, RAM usage is on 300 MB. Have anyone idea how to fix it?
Phone LG G Flex 2 (H955), Android 6.0.1
have you turned on doze??? or powersaving modes??
are you rooted??
Battery saver is off and in Flex 2 there is no settings for doze, but "Ignore optimization" window where you can select apps individually, but it didn't help.

looking for help on a certain issue. Related to the following 2 apps:
1) one weather
2) applock
I have one of the widgets my homescreen which displays the weather & the time. On my op3 (and other non huawei/honor devices i've owned) it works fine & the time is always accurate but on my huawei (p9) and honor 7 the time seems to stop keeping track.
i think it must be something to do with what apps are left running when the screen i switched off & the interference with emui.
internet is not required to be on for the time to display correctly a on my op3 it keeps telling the right time even if wifi and data are off but on the huawei/honor devices it only keeps up to date with the time when the screen is off if data/wifi is enabled.
- I have done the following in settings:
advanced > battery manager > protected apps (allow apps to keep running after the screen is turned off) > i have enabled 1 weather so it is allowed to keep running
- auto closing of power intensive apps is disabled
settings > apps > advanced > ignore optimizations > 1 weather is allowed
I can't see any other options from the settings menu that that wold be having an effect.
The fact it runs fine on my op3 (and other android devices) implies it must be sth to do with huawei/honor optimization or doze feature
second app (smart app lock) is a similar issue. it seems to auto disable itself but irregularly. sometimes its when I close all apps (which i tend to do each time i switch off the screen) other times do that & it's fine but when i switch off screen then switch back on again its disabled.
again I dont have the issue with the same app on my op3 so it must be to do with huawei/honor or emui
fyi i previously had a p8 lite and had the exact same issue with the same 2 apps.
anyone any suggestions?

EDIT: Added a 4th option that didn't work!
Hi ,
Does anyone know how to prevent the A8 from auto closing Pokemon Go? I've tried the following:
1. Settings, battery, settings, and disabling
1.1. Adaptive battery
1.2. Put unused apps to sleep
1.3. Optimise settings
2. Settings, battery, memory, setting, and adding Pokemon Go to the list of apps that aren't checked.
3. Settings, apps, Pokemon Go, battery, optimise battery use, not optimised
4. Lock the app in the recents menu
Yet after a short while of switching the screen off, it still gets killed. Is there some other arcane setting I have missed or do Samsung (they're not the only ones) that add GUI settings to make it look like you're in control but actually the setting does nothing?
Note: phone is not rooted, but I am happy to root it if necessary - it used to be rooted, I just couldn't be bothered after the recent update!
TIA
m
No one? OK, how about a different angle: if I re-root it doe anyone know which process I'd need to remove / kill to stop Samsung killing apps?
I've noticed that at default, the phone's RAM management isn't all too convenient when it comes to multitasking.
Sometimes I'll be playing a game, then go to check something on Twitter, and then open the game back up and it's restarted.
Found a neat little trick to help:
1. Go to Settings > Additional Settings > Recent Tasks Manager
2. Toggle apps that you don't want restarted all the time to On
And that's it really, the phone is fine for lighter apps, but when it comes to some games it doesn't handle multitasking too well, but if you "lock" the game with the above method then it won't close it as often.
Also might be worth going into the Phone Manager app > Settings > Self Check > Off. This also helps.
EDIT: Just worked out that this also works for custom launchers (ie Nova). It would often reload my home screen after closing an app, but after adding Nova to the list it doesn't do it anymore
Hello,
All is in the topic, I've got an app that starts automatically when my phone is powered on.
It is Aircall, an app I use for passing and receiving calls at work.
I would like this app not to start automatically each time I power on the phone.
Is there a setting for disabling some apps to autostart ? Or an app you can advise ?
Thanks for your help.
Check the app's preferences to see if there are options.
In the Android settings, go to Apps > See All > (your app. eg Air Call) > App battery usage and set it to 'restricted.' This will greatly restrict an app's ability to do many things in the background.
Other than that, you'd have to root your device to get any more control over the app using something like Servicely (Google Play Store), My Android Tools (apkmirror.com), Permission Manager X (fdroid), AppOppsX (fdroid), or Blocker (fdroid) to control the app's broadcast receivers. Apps can choose to respond to various phone states such as when a boot is completed, when network connectivity changes, power is connected/disconnected, etc. It can take some aggressive action to fully prevent an app from always running.
If you're just annoyed by a notification icon in your notification area you can always disable that app's notification so it doesn't appear.
I have tried all of these things to control apps but if apps use a lot of various broadcast receivers they will find ways to keep running. You may find stopping it to have unintended consequences. It being a work app, I'd consider simply disabling the app's notificaiton if it has a persistent notifcation or something. The next step would be to restrict the app as in 2. The most aggressive thing is to root and tinker with its broadcast receivers.
Hello jawz101,
Thank you very much for this very complete answer.
All your precise instructions are very interesting.
I'll have a look at all these solutions.
Thanks again.
I am not sure about straight forward solution. But I would like to use Greenify app. Add apps to it once and run it once everytime you restart your phone.
