Did you have a plan to switch a moto X?
Love battery, SD slot and the promised camera improvement. But no to big. My moto x 2013 stays

Undecided yet between Moto X Play or OP2..
hf spending 3 hours to charge your OP2 fully up. Yay for quick charge.
aaaaaaaa
no i don't
i have problem with this.
i just ditched my Moto X 2014 and going straight to the Moto X Play!
ordered it yesterday in .de, so hoping to receive it in +- 10 days from now!
Confused..Not really sure.. But I think it's a nice phone, also affordable.
I was a happy owner of a nexus 4, but the digitizer died due to moisture (and bad QC, as no phone should die by a sweaty pocket)
I'm not going through the hassle of aftermarket parts and pricey replacements, so the X play is really looking good. (anything does compared to my current xperia arc s...)
Just have to make out some things about sensors and active notifications, as I hope the "x" naming means more than a marketing move and actually follows in the 2014 model's footsteps...
just received mine yesterday .. it doesn't come with a earphone ?
That's common now.
Some don't even come with a charger.
I'm glad earphones aren't included anymore. So many were rubbish and you would never use them.

Got it two days ago in Canada, loving it. Coming from a Note 3 to this there is not much change, I do miss the 32Gb internal storage, On the other hand the battery on the x play is terrific, the front speakers are not stereo only the bottom one so I hope we get some customization to make it stereo. Otherwise loving the stock android experience. I always used aosp anyway on my note.
Err theres only one speaker afaik so no way of making it stereo.

I bought it two weeks ago, and I got earphone with integrated FM antenna. I live in France, maybe there is a difference.
considering it very much. Just still doubting about the size. I love the looks of the x Style however in my opinion the x play is better so I'm hoping they are going to make an x style back cover to fit in the moto x play (really don't like the pattern on the x play's back).
I was still waiting on the new nexus to be presented and the X play beats it in every field (that is important to me), simply the best user phone out there at the moment.

UMMM... ok, very useful info.
I am trading in my Nexus 5 for a Moto X Play, hoping I enjoy it.
Took the plunge last weekend.
Had the phone for about 4 days along with the watch and here are my impressions so far...
My Old Note 4:
Its been a good solid phone. No major complaints. My son (17) will destroy it within weeks I am sure.
Note 5:
Sammy went back to the slick device. This thing is like holding on to wet ice. The Note 4 had that pleather back and I used it with out a case. I have the clear case on order thru Amazon now. I cant see any difference between the screen on the 4 to the 5.
Battery. Oh yeah. In just a few days I can see the difference. Is it the new chip-set or OS optimization? But this Note 5 does have longer battery.
Camera. Low light pictures, getting better and better. Went to a company Christmas party the 1st night I owned it. Took some pics and were impressed.
OS. Touchwiz is getting old. I have gone Sammy for 4 phones in a row now. HTC you better get with it! I will probably use a 3rd party launcher soon.
Memory. OK this is where I think I might regret changing phones. Note 4 32gb internal & 64gb sd card. I just lost 64 gb of space. Yes, yes I can put more stuff on the cloud and I do live in a metropolitan area (Tampa, FL) with moderately decent coverage. But you still run into spots where its either no connection or slow (3g) and I think I will miss that 64gb. But I just got it. So I might have to come back and make an addition with a rant.
Gear S2:
Jeez, I haven't worn a watch in years. I still sometime glance at my wrist wondering what time it is only to see bare skin and then go reaching for my phone. 1st impressions have been good. Weight & feel. I am a big guy but the watch does not feel large or heavy, but it does feel solid. Screen in daylight, I had no issue with seeing the screen in full Florida sunshine. I do like having the notification sound off and just the vibrate. So only I know I got a message. Its nice if your in a meeting.
Only app I installed was the Magic 8 Ball - to assist in making major work decisions. I am bouncing around on watch faces, its nice seeing an analog watch, its been so long in this digital age but IMHO it just looks good.
Spinning bezel.......awesome idea, makes navigating a breeze.
Phone calls, I got the version that has its own number - Tmo had some promo and the boss (my wife said yes) and this was a early Xmas present. But i have made and received a few calls. Its nice not having to go grabbing for the phone.

I currently have a Nexus 6p and have been a fan of everything. Growing tired of the size and considering the pixel, not the XL. Currently I have 64gb but only use 24gb currently. I have VZW UDP so I pretty much stream everything. I'm in love with the pixel. Especially the camera. With the bootloader being unlocked by firewall devs, I'm ok with buying a Verizon version. Couldn't pull the trigger in the store today though. Gonna be another month minimum before a 128 is shipped (but don't feel I need 128gb) but 32 makes me nervous. Even if the VZW version never gets full unlock, I only need tethering, and signal reset is a good enough work around for my needs.
So, I need opinions on whether I should or should pull the trigger and get the 32gb, or just keep my N6 for another year. (still in mint condition)
I came from a Nexus 6 (not 6p) to the Pixel. It feels small at first but I'm liking the one handed use.
It's better across the board; faster, better screen (brightness / color), battery life etc.
The only thing I notice is that the fingerprint sensor gestures would be more usable on the XL. On the 5 inch, it's not as useful since I can reach the whole screen more easily.

I have absolutely no complaints about my 6P except the clumsy size. I ordered a Pixel as I usually get a new phone every year.
I am on Project Fi, and usually get good reception in the fringe area I live, except the Golf Course I play. I was expecting the Pixel to be better in this regard but it wasn't. Side by side I was seeing between 3 and 5 dBm less signal... strike one.
I don't listen to movies or music on the phone's speakers, but occasionally podcasts. The speaker on the Pixels is not as loud as my original Moto X's rear firing speakers. In a pocket, in a noisy environment, I would miss notification sounds... strike two.
Finally, it doesn't work on Android Auto with my Pioneer AVH4100NEX... strike three.
Strike three was the deal breaker and if not for that I might have kept it. The screen is noticeably brighter, and the phone is definitely faster (but the 6P is just fine in that regard as well), and I liked the size (although it is still very slippery like the 6P).
If I see that they fix the Android Auto issue with Pioneer, I may order another one... but by then who knows, the Pixel 2 may be on the horizon. I get the feeling Google rushed this phone. The Ron Amadeo articles on Ars Technica are definitely food for thought. Who knows what Pixel 2 will be like given they'll have over a year to get it right.
Just my 2¢... YMMV.

Not to be rude, really, but... you're an adult. Lol. Research the phone and if you like it, buy it, if you don't, than, buy yourself a steak.
The 6P is great, if you were going for the Pixel XL (instead of the Pixel); I'd stay this year with the 6P and next year do the switch to 2017 Pixel. (Unless you really care about the Compass in Google Maps. which sux in the 5X/6P, and is one of my 2 issues with the 5X at the moment, the RAM and the compass accuracy).
I'm honestly very fine with the 5X, I'll only switch to the Pixel mainly because of the RAM and to try the new compass (I'm tired of this bosch BMM150 it's a mess, tried it in 3 nexus). I also like the 5" and the smaller width distance. But since this Pixel is made of metal, It will be more slippery than the black 5X, so i'll probably will be using a grip case, and that case will make the pixel bigger, similar to the 5X..
In your case..your only issue is the one-handed usage with the 6P. If you really want to go back to a one handed phone, I'll try the Pixel. But IMO, nothing better than the original/old 2013 Moto X for one handed usage. (This depends on your hand shape and size) Of course it's old, but what I meant is, it'd be nice to have a 3rd smaller 4.7" pixel 720p variant.... (size is not the main factor for one handed usage... For instance, I tried a Z5 Compact 4.6" and had to put a case because it was slippery, I'm much more comfortable with a naked black 5X than a naked Z5 Compact).

Very true. The compass always needs recalibration on my 6p. I really want to upgrade, so the basic question is, is 32gb worth it? I dont come close to using the 64 I got now, and by the time the 128gb start shipping, depixel8 will probably be patched by VZW. I usually keep the bootloader locked, but it's nice to have that ability if needed...

I only know that the compass is different, they still use Bosch sensors, but not anymore for the compass, it was changed for some Japanese brand's e-compass. I don't really know if the Pixel still has compass random issues like the 5X/6P, so be careful of this. I'll get the Pixel as soon as they sell it in Spain, I wan't to buy it in my country of residence in case I need to return it.
32GB are ok to me in the 5X..because I only have google apps + some small apps + Hearthstone. And every time I reach 8GB of photos/videos it move all to my PC. (In the Pixel you'll have the Photos unlimited upload promotion so this would be a more easy task if you end using this feature). For my usage, 16GB is not enough. 32GB is much more than enough.

Thanks. Very helpful for me. So was the poster about the radio. I've been rather unimpressed with the 6p radio for phone calls and if the pixel is worse it could be a deal breaker. Was hopeful with HTC that the radio would be better. In my house I've gotten the best reception in the past with HTC, and the worst with Samsung until Huawei
Yeah. I was in the same boat as you. I realised I gained a few things and lost a few things in getting the Pixel.
My main praise is that the Pixel is the only viable small flagship in Android land. The smaller factor is a major requirement for me even though I have large hands. So the Pixel really ticks this box. I wish it were smaller even.
The Pixel feels much better in the hand in terms of materials, weight, balance and sheer confidence in its build quality/durability. As compared to my 6P.
The software feels more natural in one handed usage. The Pixel feels faster and more responsive. More coherent and finished.
I found the battery life a little bit more reliable too. But early days.
Now... The camera is the same as that in the 6P in my experience. Just has EIS, which the 6P should be given anyway as it's just software AFAIK.
SO... Ugly design compared to the 6P and the iPhone or the Galaxy line.
Weaker speakers. Less storage. Higher price. Poorer design.
Therefore, the size compelled me. It's therefore a different phone, not a better phone.

Actually, the 6P has EIS, it just uses a different, less effective method. I have read a lot of conjecture that the 6P might not have the horsepower to keep up with the gyro based EIS employed in the Pixel.
With that said, the Pixel's stabilization is so solid, it makes it impossible to do a slow pan... with the image jumping in huge steps as you pan the camera. If your steady, you can get nice slow pans from the 6P with EIS turned on.
Biting the bullet on a black XL at best buy. After having both in my the XL is far more one handed friendly than the 6P. I'm not sure my 40 year old eyes can go back to the smaller screen of the regular pixel. I had the LG G3 prior to the nexus so I've grown accustomed to the large screen. As much as my pocket likes the smaller device, they don't have it black either. Thanks for the help and opinions.
Well you can always increase the DPI and/or the Text Size if you wanted to use a smaller phone and still be able to see clearly everything from a far distance

Honestly if you like the phone you currently have and this applies to anybody not just Nexus 6p and really don't have thousand dollars to waste on another phone. I'd suggest against buying the pixel and stick to your phone for as long as you can. New devices will come out in another couple months. The pixels camera isn't all that big of a deal, the phone has its features, it's fast, the camera loads fast, the camera is good, the display is fantastic, the size is awesome, nugget 7.1 fantastic, assistant works well. But all in all, not much more than current models like the Nexus 6p and others realeased in this last year.
That's just my opinion. I've been wanting to replace my LG V10 so the pixel XL was a good option, just an expensive one. Mainly for Google support, user base of support, accessories Galore, fantastically beautiful screen comparable to wow any iphone samsumg user, Quick Camera loading, usb c PD Charging and other stuff.. Lol
I like the hype train the bandwagon and the recognition of having a pixel XL. Especially in Smurfy Blue!

I too felt the text size a tad bit small, being a 40+ yo, compared to my v10. But theres a setting in display, its default to small, which you can adjust. Then pixel xl screen is just so crisp and clear even with tiny letters and im coming from ips screen.

Yeah I really didn't need to spend more money, but once depixel8 was released, putting it on my vzw bill was a no brainier. I got a $400 offer for my Nexus, I got $100 best buy gift card, and a Chromecast from best buy....I'm really spending a little over 200 more for this device and I get to spread out the payments. Bleep yea, if you put it that way, id buy two. No brainer if its costing you almost nothing.
Forgot to mention one important very fundamental reason behind owning a pixel, and that is the XDA community. Autoprime chainfire jcase all the top names own one, just about every green named member has one..
I was the only person to own an lg v10... It was a lonely place..
I've just pre ordered blue version from cpw UK for £649.00.
Samsung fans will call me crazy but I'm currently using S7 Edge blue coral colour and I'm still hating touchwiz. Love the phone though.
My reasons for buying HTC U ULTRA are many and there are few cons.
I'm a sucker for big screens I think minimum for me is 5.7".
QHD and love the second screen.
4gb ram is ok obviously would have loved 6gb.
I wonder if many are considering buying HTC U ULTRA?
I was quietly waiting for HTC to release the price but I've been left disappointed. I really can't see how the Ultra justifies a £649 price tag. Something closer to £500 would have been more reasonable IMO.
I don't think it's going to be a big seller, shame I think timing is awful. Should have realeased this around Dec, could have charged that much then.
I do agree it's bit expensive ideally should have been around 550.00 max.
I've just pre-ordered mine on contract, hope that this is as good as my (lost) HTC 10!

I actually quite like Super LCD so no concerns there for me.
I didn't pre-ordered my next 10th HTC yet, the U Ultra (Black) of course. Need to sell my HTC 10 before
5.7" is perfect for me. The phone I kept the longuest (2 years) was the One Max and its 5.9" screen. The HTC 10 is just perfect, but the small 5.2" screen.

The main reason I'm going to buy the U Ultra is its 5.7" screen.
Next I know I'll retrieve what I love about my 10: responsiveness, excellent sound and photo. Everything the U Ultra has over the 10 is bonus.
Does this answer your question ? I could go more detailed if needed
Edit:
I remember well when the One Max was announced, it was almost shot in flammes because it was "just" a supersized One M7: too big, same SD SoC,... Why hadn't HTC put, six months later, the next SD, and blah blah blah...
I had then the One M7 and most happy with it, but I couldn't resist the One Max 5.9" screen for movies and web surfing, and I switched for the better. I kept it for 2 years. I remember my colleagues from the beginning, wondering I was doing with such a big phone, in the end most of the time a bit jealous for the comfort it provided.
The One Max hadn't OIS when the One M7 had it, but no big deal for me.
I sold it a colleague, a woman (yes!), and the One Max is still alive and kicking
I hoped the 10 would be bigger, but I bought it nevertheless and enjoying it until I receive the U Ultra

In that case why don't you buy the LG G6? It has the same 5.7 screen (with Dolby Vision) and its a much much smaller dimensions (a whole 1 centimeter smaller in height).
It will also probably going to be $100 cheaper.
If you want a dual camera OIS added to the mix you can always get the Huawei P10 plus with the kirin 960 (which is more powerful then SD the 821), and has 6GB of ram.
Not to mention that the above have a 3.5 mm jack.
I cancelled my pre order in the US today.
I am very disappointing that HTC could not bring a winning device this year. Honestly I would not pay more then $550 for it while the pre order was for $810 (plus tax).
The ultra does not have the boom sound speakers anymore. If they only chose an AMOLED screen (as they did with the pixel), and added the 3.5 jack, I could ignore the size of the phone and the price could be justified.
I will wait for a device that can give me the whole package, and I think that some of the new ones could give me that (have you seen the new Sony? )

As you surely noticed in my sig, I'm an HTC addict, I won't go for another brand. I love the Sense UI from back to the Desire HD.
Speaking of sound, I don't listen to anything aloud very often, but I listen to a lot of music ans what a lot of movies and tv shows: the HTC 10 is perfect in this respect, and the U Ultra should be even better
Look at the HTC support page, the U Ultra does have boomsound speakers!
The SD 821 will more than enough for what I'll do with it, as I don't play games on my phones.
OIS on the back camera is enough for me. I have OIS on the front one of my 10, I'm not really a selphie addict.
If HTC really disappear some time ahead, I do hope that the very last HTC I own will last as long as possible.
One last thought, you don't really like/love HTC, do you ?

The SD 821 will more than enough for what I'll do with it, as I don't play games on my phones.
OIS on the back camera is enough for me. I have OIS on the front one of my 10, I'm not really a selphie addict.
If HTC really disappear some time ahead, I do hope that the very last HTC I own will last as long as possible.
One last thought, you don't really like/love HTC, do you ?

I had a few HTC devices (starting the nexus one), but in the past couple of years I was going for the One Plus devices and tried a few Samsung ones.
In my mind the HTC UX and system responsiveness was always the best. I did not see a phone as smooth and the Pixel is an absolute gem (made by HTC).
The reason I stopped buying HTC is the screen size.
As far as the sense UI. I don't have about that. I don't use widgets and have a bought version of the Nova Launcher.
I owned the LG V20 (and gave it to my wife since she absolutely loved the photo quality). The second screen is a gimik and I just turned it off. I think I would have done the same with the Ultra.
Samsung phones are *crap* wrapped in an AMOLED + Amazing camera shell and I swore not to buy it anymore.
The $400 phones are great but after owning the note 7, I can say that I want a good camera phone. You cannot find a good camera at the OP3T or the AXON 7 even though they try (axon has a samsung sensor and the OP has a sony sensor).
I am a very heavy earphone user. I have them on all the time and I always buy new ones (cause I lose them everywhere) so a phone without a 3.5 jack means I have to adjust heavily to the fact that I need to buy an adapter or start buying $50+ Bluetooth sets (and I really don't want to do that).
That brings me to the G6. It has a smaller body (by 0.9 centimeters- which is a lot). A better LCD screen, IP rating and the camera of V20 (which is amazing but worse then the Ultra's).
It has a 3.5 Jack and it will be cheaper then the Ultra.
Dont get me wrong, I hate LG! My wife had the LG g3 and LG g4 for the past two years (before the V20) and those phones worked like a charm till the last day (with no case since she hates them).
But I still hated them- the bloatware is horrible, the UX is stupid and they are just unexciting.
I might try the P10 plus with the leica lenses.
Bought the U ULTRA and perfectly happy with it

Hi Howling Wolf
Something for you :
- my first impressions : http://www.forum-generationmobiles.net/t79157-info-htc-u-ultra-play
- test : http://www.frandroid.com/marques/412702_test-du-htc-u-ultra-un-double-ecran-ingenieux-et-des-performances-au-top#utm_source=forumfrandroid&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=related_via_topic
Sorry, it's in French.
I bought it last week in Germany (Saturn)., in black.
Thanks, I'm French
The test is not serious...
You confirm that the main screen is very bright (as always with HTC) !
I don't really care for the U Ultra back design, I'll put the clear case at once, the liquid color shouldn't be lessened too much and that'll be just fine.
Thanks for your impressions.
I may have to wait until April to buy it though
Mine is being delivered tomorrow from cpw, nice surprise. Was expecting it friday.
I got a notification from Vodafone for a sim switch today, hoping cpw will call for the pick up tomorrow

I'm living in Indonesia, got the phone from my supplier in Singapore(I have an online store). Selling it for around USD 675 at my store
I got it a exactly a week ago.
First impressions:
Gorgeous. Simply gorgeous.
Of course I got the blue sapphire one and it looks awesome, especially with lights reflecting off it. It gives shades and colour gradation like no other phones when bouncing off its curved back. Had people noticing my phone several times now.
This thing is smooth, very smooth
Love the LCD.
Have been a fan of LCD over amoled. It's sharp, colour saturation is good, images are lifelike. Also, sunlight readability have been great compared to htc 10.
Tried the v20 and the light bleed were awful from the second screen (inside a dark room, very low brightness) On the U Ultra it's far better.
Camera is AWESOME.
Had pixel XL for about two months before selling it. The price I had to get it on this part of the world was unreasonable (1075usd 128 xl). Had a hard time justifying that kind of money in my pocket. As I recall, this camera matches the pixel's easily and with manual control it is perfect. Will play more with the camera later.
Battery life is beyond expectations
I thought the battery would be very sucky considering 3000mah had to power qhd screen+2nd screen. Apparently it holds up pretty well. On all day Wifi it reaches almost 7 hours SOT. I'm testing mixed use today switching between WiFi and LTE (bad Lte connections here in Indonesia btw) as I go.
Speaker is similar to htc 10 if not better
Have not tried the USB C earphone I don't use earphones a lot. Which is why I don't really care the loss of 3.5mm headphone jack. I listen to music on my car via Bluetooth.
Size is perfect for me. I came from Huawei mate 9.
The included case scratch easily, I suspect the glass back scratch easier.
Too bad this phone doesn't create enough hype. Really have a hard time selling it on my store
A bit about me: I sell phones, and usually I tried every flagship I sold before I sell them. No brand fanboyism whatsoever.
Bottom line is this phone is really good, however I should've been released early December 2016 not today as all we've seen in the news are plethora of 2017 phones coming out with very slim bezels, new chipsets, dual cameras, waterproof, etc. I know that's not possible otherwise people would've had a hard time justifying buying pixel xl lol. Google would be outraged.
Any other stuff u guys would like to know?
For example, carriers, best buy etc
Too early. However, it might be at certain Samsung stores.
Best Buy in Philly.

I saw one at the Samsung store yesterday and best buy will have them tomorrow and that's here in Canada where we always get everything last so you US guys should be GTG.
It was at the Microsoft Store in Colorado. It looked stunning. Now I'm really excited. Display seemed WAY better than my note 9 and very zippy as well. A worthwhile upgrade imo.
Samsung store here in Garden City, NY which is on Long Island had all variants on display. Including the 5g version. I pre-ordered the Note 10 to replace my S10. I liked the form factor of the smaller one despite it not being equal to the plus version. Plus ring able to get $600 on the trade in made it a no brained to upgrade.
Best Buy in Atlanta has them.
Best buy in Virginia had them last Fri when I pre-ordered

T-Mo has them in stores. They were on display at my location yesterday.
Sam's Club had both the Note 10 and the 10+ on display today. Actual working devices, not dummy phones
Bestbuy had them here last week, working devices.

My local best buy doesn't have em on display yet. I did get my spigen case though, so at least I know how it'll feel in-hand.
Best Buy in Bridgewater NJ has fully working display units.
Here is the one in the Microsoft Store. They have a whole table of them in all the colors! Happy I got the regular sized one in black.

You getting one butchie?
Good Lord that Aura Glow is cool, but is gonna blind the crap out of anyone you are trying to take a picture of. "Here son, look at the camera." "I can't Dad, the reflection off that mirror you are holding is blinding." It actually kinda bothered my eyes in the lights of Best Buy even, but my eyes are a bit sensitive like that. Lol.

I played with Note 10 and a bit with 10+ in Best Buy(in WA). I pre-ordered the Note 10 and it sits nicely in the hand, very thin and seemed light. Screen is good, bright and vivid, performance is good too, felt smooth. The demo unit had a lot of shortcuts, widgets on different screens and it was running the demo firmware. What is interesting that the model # was something like: SM-N970XU. I don't know if this is an unlocked model or Samsung put some of carrier's phones on display, but I didn't see any carrier logo while booting the phone.
