Hi,
I just bought the Chinese version of P20 EML-AL00. Not unlocked and not rooted.
Installed google play fine, installed google pay fine.
Tried to add cards to google pay, but every time I try to do it, regardless of the card being amex, visa or mastercard, it just circle around "your bank is verifying your card" for ages, then it tells me that the card cannot be added.
Anyone else got this problem? I tried to uninstall and reinstall several times, got google account manager and framework services.
Google pay previously worked really well on my Huawei P8, P9 and P10. The P10 were also bought from China and I didn't have any problems with it.
Many thanks for any suggestions!

Yes!that is known issue. can't setup Google pay
Weird hope someone can find a solution for this...
Another request from Google this time to allow GMS of Huawei devices has been sent. So maybe. If so I'm ditching my S10+. I can live without mst payments. Only place I use it at is Publix anyway.
I wanted to buy this phone but the global version is not dual-sim so I'm thinking of importing the CN version instead and install google apps on it. will I be able to change the default xiao ai assistant to google assistant? or use all the banking apps for payment using nfc? i don't wanna unlock the bootloader coz I don't wanna lose some phone capabilities.

You don't say what country you're from, no band 20, I unlocked my Chinese version to install EU ROM, everything works although it did with Chinese ROM, just install play store APK. The framework work is already installed. Google apps all working fine including gpay.

Thanks for the info.
I'm in two minds if I should buy this version.
But I do know I won't be paying the 999 euros for it.
And the other problem is that google are locking down on google store on phones with a unlocked bootloader.
And the pull down menu and other things in the menus are in Chinese.
Just thought.
With Google's SafetyNet now making an impact, it's not worth buy a mi 10 pro.

If you are going to install only gApps with the installer, well you will be able to use all the google apps. But you have to know that google pay may not work in the right way due to the new Google policy. The same as Huawei phones. And well, you won't have 4G B20 band.

I was thinking about doing this.
That was until I saw that all the top pull down menus are in chinese and you can't change them.
And loads of chinese notification popping up.
I don't have Chinese in any of my pulldown menus or notifications. Google apps, safeynet, widevine 3, etc. all work out of the box, even on the Chinese rom. However, I did replace the launcher with Nova and disabled a bunch of Xiaomi apps with XiaomiADBFastbootTools.
Now, all that said, I haven't been able to get "Ok Google" to work for me. The assistant itself seems to work and I can prompt it with a key command, but it gives me a regional error if I try to have "Ok Google" always on. Maybe it works outside of China, but it seems to be a problem with rom itself.
I also have my international payment methods binded to it no problem (safety net works) but since I'm in China I can't really test it out anywhere. It works online, but I would want to see a physical NFC transaction go through before I declare it working.

I can confidently tell you that my CN Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro works flawlessly with the Global ROM installed, and all Google Services working including Google Assistant, Google Pay, etc.
The trick I found to get the phone to pass Safety Net was switching the device fingerprint. After that Google Pay works perfectly as I just tested it at the store. Prior to updating the device fingerprint, that was the ONLY thing that didn't work.

I used a Mix Mix 2 profile and it worked. However, I just recently upgraded to MIUI 12 and lost Safety Net approval... no matter what fingerprint I use. I suspect it was Google pulling the levers in the office and I happen to catch it at the right time.

I got it working again but removing the Google Play Services and Google Pay updates reverting back to older versions. Works perfectly again!
I bought the CN model for use in Australia and can confirm that everything works using the custom from from xiaomi.eu
Without the rom it's impossible to rid yourself of all the Chinese in the OS. With it, you get better updates than the global version and safety-net passes.
Does the Mi 10 Ultra pass SafetyNet? Aka use Google Pay, McDonalds, Pokémon Go.
And if so, how come the Mi 10 passes but the P40 Pro does not (despite both phones coming without GMS preinstalled)?
I have the phone
Security level is L1
Saftey net is as global phone
Google services is running as any global phone..100% no issue with me even in downloading all my bought apps
The only issue is that Google backup and restore is not working and Google Location History is not working. The rest all work fine, Google Pay, maps, play store, etc. on the stock china miui 12 rom of course.
Oops, had a typo. Meant to ask:
How come the Mi 10 Ultra passes but the P40 Pro does not (despite both phones coming without GMS preinstalled)? Neither phone is officially available outside China, so I doubt Xiaomi took the time to Google Certify the Mi 10 Ultra. Where does certification come from?
P40 Pro does not come with GMS pre-installed thanks to Trump.
Trump has banned Google from exporting software and licenses to Huawei, so huawei is legally not allowed to install GMS in their OS, even if not activated.
The last Huawei phone with GMS pre-installed is the P30 Pro.
P40 Pro is also available outside China in many regions with HMS instead.
On the other hand, MIUI comes with GMS pre-loaded inside all their China ROMs as well and also Google certified.
It's just not activated, and even if you activate it in China, it will not work due to the Great China Firewall blocking all GMS.
But once the phone is out of China, that's a different story, we just need to install Play Store and all GMS get activated auto-magically.
Some features are not working great as the China rom still have some tiny blocks, notably Google Location History and Backup and Restore.

If a license from Google to Huawei is all that's required. Why don't they just work around it? Can't Google just release the blob of GMS (I understand releasing the source is probably not a good idea) as freeware that doesn't require a license?
Also, what does Xiaomi use in China if not GMS or HMS?
So have you managed to install Netflix successfully and make payments with Google pay?
Thanks!

Google Pay is installed directly from the Play Store. I have use apk mirror for Netflix and Prime Video as that was not available on play store.
Netflix absolutely works. Someone who said it doesn't either doesn't know about side loading or did something wrong. You just have to download the apk from somewhere other than the play store. Works fine.

Try changing NFC setting default wallet to "Use HCE Wallet"
Hi All,
I'm wondering that is there any option to change the Model name to P30 Pro?
After that probably I could be Play Protect certified.
GMS and Google installed but Google Pay not working due to the phone not certified.
Other banking apps also not working because rely on googl play protect.
Is there any solution to emulated the Model name or change it? Should I root the phone or can I find some alternative way?
Annoying that I have a great phone but due to some restrictions I can not use it as I want.
Thank you
With Google installed, I can use banking app to pay thru NFC.

I know, depends on which bank you have. Mine is contracted with Google pay only so no chance. Other also google pay, 3rd working standalone but because of no play protection and not certified not working.
I'm in Hungary and I have tried áll available options.
Wise/Revolut/curve also contracted with Google Pay.
Or looking for Universal app where I can add my card and working the NFC contacless payment feature.
I know Stocard app but it is only available in UK or Germany and can not force the region...
That's why Im looking for other solution...
iCard ...???
That app don't need GMS.

If there is no other choice then I will try it.
My problem with iCard that there is no Hungarian currency on it.
I have to change my money (HUF) to EUR then when I pay in Hungary change back to EUR to HUF and I'm afraid I will lose a lot.
This is the only disadvantage with iCard.
That's why I looking for app where I can associate my bank card or account.
Hope you understand my concern.
Indeed, if you don't have your currency on it, it's a problem ...
I have no issues adding the credit cards to P7P Google Wallet, but for 2 cards I had to use the specific app.
I'd have to add them to the Wallet of Pixel Watch, but I get an error if I do it from the Wallet app, as I had if I did it on the phone.
Unluckily there are no specific Wear OS banking apps for those cards...
I had to contact Google support, it seems a common issue. They fixed my account and now it works flawlessly.

Are you rooted? Because i can't evem add one it tells me phone is rooted.
Actually yes, but I wasn't at the time of the issue. Wallet is working fine if you hide root.
As I posted before, Google assistance solved what it seemed to be a problem of my account.
I have the same problem and can´t add card to the watch. I have a Xiaomi 11 ultra with chinese rom, managed to put google wallet working well on the phone but can´t add a card to the watch. Simply it says that cannot connect to phone.
How did you solve the issue? don´t know if it was the same problem but is worth to try..
