Home Screen Shortcuts. - Huawei P20 Questions & Answers

Please tell me there is away to remove screen icons without having to use a 3rd party launcher. I just got the P20 Lite and it's driving me crazy, how am i not able to just drag shortcuts off my homscreen in 2018?

By default, you will find all of your apps on the home screens of your P20 and P20 Pro. What you need to do is enable the App Drawer. Enabling the App Drawer is simple: Go to Settings > Display > Home screen style and choose Drawer. From there you will be able to drag and drop, and rearrange apps on the home screen to your liking

How to display different wallpaper for Desktop and Lock Screen?

Hey all. Gosh I feel like an idiot for posting but cant for the life of me figure this super basic thing out.
Im on a S7 Edge, using Nova Launcher, and the Goodluck UI. Wanted to mention all that as I think that is why Im having so much trouble. No matter what app, or setting on the phone, it makes the wallpaper the same for both the lock scree and desktop. Can someone tell me what steps work with the configuration I have
Thanks!
Usually you would use the wallpaper setting in Android itself and tell it to set the Homescreen/Lock screen separately using the dropdown at the top of the wallpaper choice screen, but iirc, Good lock has its own wallpaper setting, I don't use it so not sure where it is, but I'd have a look in Good lock settings to start
You can set the home screen however you want, but the lock screen has to be done a specific way. Go into the stock Gallery app, find the pic you want to use then hit "More" in the upper right corner. Then "Set as wallpaper" and choose which you want to set it for, home screen, lock screen, or both.
It's annoying to have to use the Gallery app as it has no way to filter out unwanted folders like all my music folders with album art, but it is the only way I've found so far to set different lock screen and home screen wallpapers.

lock screen shortcuts

I'm looking for a way to remove the additional shortcuts placed at the bottom of the lock screen. I haven't found anything in the settings. I remember with LG and or Samsung having a lock screen topic in settings to add remove these
OK I figured it out. Remove all icons in the dock of stock launcher. Either use stock launcher with no dock icons or choose a 3rd party launcher like Nova.

I've always used Nova, but those icons were still there on the lock screen. However, I switched to Sense Home to remove them, and they are now gone after changing back to Nova.
Thanks!!

Thanks. This really works.

You can also use some trick here....
Go to
APPS >
example choose "CHROME" >
click DISABLE >
then, Lock your phone....
Drag icon CHROME to above.
Then after you lock again your screen, you will see no more CHROME shortcut in lock screen...
Then, enable back the apps.

is there a good stock sms widget replacement?

i used to like the sms widget with all the conversations in a box on your homescreen. is there a good replacement?
solved: force app enable freeform mode
https://www.floatingapps.net/freeform
follow this guide then there will be a three dot menu in the recent app switcher that will have a freeform option.
half solved
addendum: its not a true widget but it does the trick and lets you use some apps like windows. but they dissapear if you swipe the app away or leave your home screen. you can bring them right back by tapping the app icon and the app will return to its previous location.
still looking for a permanent widget solution.

Question Gesture navigation animation delay and landscape edge panel

I've been using gesture navigations on my old P30 Pro and enabled it for the S22 Ultra. I've noticed that when navigation is set to "swipe from sides and bottom", it introduces special animations when minimizing apps/going back to the homescreen, that is different from the animations when using "swipe from bottom" gestures or when using navigation bar buttons. With "swipe from sides and bottom" selected, whenever I do the home gesture which is slide up from the bottom of the screen, it plays the return home/minimize app animation and I notice that I have to wait for the animation to finish before I could perform my next swipe gesture. For Nova, Apex, Microsoft and several other launchers that I've tested, I notice that I need to wait for the animation to finish before I could do another gesture like opening the app drawer by swiping up. This apparently happens to all launchers except for the default One UI launcher - where even if the animation is not yet finished, I can swipe up and open the app drawer. This delay does not happen to any launcher when using swipe form bottom gestures or navigation bar buttons. Is there a way to fix this?
Also, is there a way to use edge panel in landscape? On my old Huawei, their version of the edge panel works in any orientation. Basically, I just need a way to open apps in a popup window in landscape where I can choose which app i could open instead of opening the app first, and then choosing to open it in a popup window using the recent apps/task manager button.
I was thinking the same from a couple days, but too lazy to start a thread
With third part launchers, sometimes when I return to home, if I try to open an app or make some gesture, the phone open an app himself, casually...
I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who noticed this nuance. TS explained everything what I had in mind for a loooooong time.
Is there any way to make 3rd party launcher "act like the default" when it comes to animations?
Note: I'm using Motorola Edge 30 Ultra so it doesn't matter whether it's a Samsung phone or not. Animations and gestures behave differently in any 3rd party launcher.

Question Hiding the navigation bar possible ?

"adb shell settings put global force_fsg_nav_bar 1" this script does the trick but only until your next reboot.
is there a way to keep the nav bar hidden permanently ? any luck anyone ?
thanks, cheers
Why don't you just enable hide Fullscreen indicator in settings?
My mistake, wasn't clear enough..
I am trying to use a third party launcher with full screen gestures but Miui does not allow that
I don't think that's possible. There's a workaround via FNG app, in Wich you set the bottom quick action as an app and then you select your launcher, without setting it as default launcher itself. But it's not very reliable and does not work all the time. You'll get often pushed to MIUI launcher. You'll also have to hide the nav pill in settings wich makes apps to look weird (especially the keyboard)
This is what I did to use my 3rd party launcher with gestures:
