Hello all,
Please see the new firmware on the Chinese P20 Pro. Found this on the official Huawei Forum. (https://club.huawei.com/thread-15944437-1-1.html)
Lots of people have been complaining about the over exposure and beauty effect. I've included an English translation over the change log. The "eating chicken" part is a bad translation - it really means "optimizes the experience and operation of exciting games". They also seemed to have optimised the touch screen response when making small movements.
Great that Huawei is addressing some common complaints. Not sure when these fixes will reach your region and handset (and what the equivalent firmware number will be in your region) but from what I know Huawei will them out by IMEI batches and also your mobile operator needs to approve them before you can get the OTA. So quite a few factors involved there. Hope you get it soon!
Thanks for taking the time to post and translate this here
The beauty effect on the front camera is a little bit too much to my liking so improvements in that department are always appreciated.
What do they really mean with "optimizes the experience and operation of exciting games"? Is this related to updates to the GPU or UI to make it more fluid?
I personally don't have any problems with the touch response, especially after playing a bit with a S9+ yesterday, I feel the P20 Pro is very responsive compared to Samsung Experience. (Touchwiz)
Currently running 8.1.0.107 (C636) and looking forward to future firmware updates to further optimize our phones

Any, changes? Can you turn off the beauty mod?
And any changes for camera photo and video?
The firmware version I shared on the OP is 8.1.0.109

So Notting about camera beutifull mod off???
Mine is pretty sharp on selfies. If you switch to photo mode, after selecting front facing camera, it's much better than before. Not as spot searingly sharp as the Pixel 2 but it's better since .110 in my honest opinion.

What firmware region are you referring to? Mine is C636 .107 and I am still not contented on the quality of the front camera especially the very poor focus of the background. I personally think that they can improve this via software update since Google was able to implement a sharp shooter selfie camera using a fixed focus lens...
I received 121 today my is cust 605 and câmera now it's great in low light in auto mode, and night mode apparently Moore bad than early update, very strange.
Just received the C636 update for Baseline 120a
Is there a way to confirm that the Front camera update that you mentioned here is already applied? I only had the OTA update, not full (From BL 107c to BL 120a).
There's not much of a difference though...Tried testing the front cam now

I'm on the 120 and C636 firmware too which is on April 2018 Google security patch. The China region front camera update firmware 109 is on May 2018 security patch so i think we have to wait for 128 on C636 to see those improvements to the front camera. Like you, I don't see much difference in the front camera from 107 to 120 on C636.

I installed 128a, still no option to disable beauty mod. Front cam post-processing seems slightly better, but under artificial light I still look like I'm wearing lipstick

Can you give us a screenshot of the 128a Change log? Did it specifically state that it had some optimizations for the front cam like the Chinese firmware on this thread?
Thanks!

Hi Honor Team,
Thanks for this wonderful opportunity to share our thoughts on Honor 10. So after 15 days of usage with Honor 10, here i will be sharing my full thoughts on Honor 10 with what all features will be improved and fixed with updates & what the users will be expecting in Future Honor Products.
Design:-
*An unique design, Undoubtedly one of the best designs in smartphones of 2018 with Spectrum colourized back panel with Aluminium frame and placement of Fingerprint, Cameras, Speaker, Sim tray & Volume buttons, No complaints whatsoever.
*Having 5.84inch includes Notch with 19:9 aspect ratio its compact and weight less!
Rating:- 4.8/5
Future Product Design:-
*An unique design same as Honor 10 with multiple color options would be really great.
Display:-
*As far as display goes, its rich and vivid. Under the sunlight a vast improvement from the previous phones like Honor 8 Pro. Color Accuracy and auto-brightness works like charm, having different screen modes is a nice to have feature, so good job!
Rating:- 4.4/5
For Next Version:-
*Being a flagship competitive smartphone, i would like to see honor introducing a AMOLED Screens or at least Super LCD displays for rich color and great viewing angles!
Memory:-
*Basically am not a gaming user, so with my usage with Honor 10 4gb/128gb with March 2018 Patch, i found a little here and there lag and little ram consumption at the background , i know these things will be fixed in future updates.!
Rating:- 4.5/5
For Next Version:-
*Please given an option to use SD card in 2nd sim slot, it could be a welcome option for many users since most of them stores/shoots lots of media's where an option to use SD card on 2nd Sim Slot will be handy in many situations.!
*Also i want honor to consider about its own cloud storage to give users an unlimited storage of their media's like Google Photos.
Battery:
*Having 3400mah with SUper Charging its fine, standby timing is also great. On 15+ days with Honor 10, While normal usage like camera, or browsing phone gets heated up due to which battery backup is just fine, and again these can be fixed in upcoming updates, so no worries.!
*SuperCharge, hats off to it, really works beyond as it was advertised! a great job!
Rating:- 4.4/5
For Next Version:-
Introduce max 4000mah with Supercooling technology for heating problems.
Audio & Speaker:-
*A single speaker, does a fantastic job - it's loud and clear. With Stock music player consists of more options for headphones is great plus and Music player design and animations, Man, I love it!
Rating:- 4.8/5
For Next Version:-
*Even with Single speaker Honor 10 was awesome.! So i would like to see Honor coming up with dual stereo speakers, Hi-fi Quad DAC or Dolby etc. May be with the front firing speakers with notch design, it will be a great treat!
AI Camera & Video:-
*So here comes the most innovative part in Honor 10, AI - For all the ages thats what i will call.!
*With AI or Without AI - Pictures were deep with details, Fast Focusing, AI Scene detection was picture perfect in every clicks whether the picture with AI or not or even Monochrome, awesome work.!
Front Camera:-
*It's a 24MP with beauty options as well as portrait option. But its not upto the mark as of now because beauty options needs to controlled more by the user instead of automatic handling, pictures look more artificial like shiny or more brightness around the faces, especially eyes & cheeks.
*More importantly the portrait selfie mode works good but when two persons taking a selfie portrait picture means it just blurred second person or whoever behind the person who clicks for a selfie. This need to be fixed as soon as possible because you can't take a group portrait with all persons.!
Video:-
*Video clarity is awesome and H265 Coding option comes in handy. But the audio clarity is not upto the mark, improvisation is much needed with update. For Videos user must need to have Tripod or else it will be shaky!
Rating:- 4.4/5 Hopefully with bug fixes in Front Cam
For Next Version:-
*Being a flagship competitive phone, atleast in next version, Please do have OIS, EIS & Fixed Focus for Shooting Videos.!
*Honor 10 packed with right specs with great build quality but it missed out the important factors like OIS or EIS (I hope it can be enabled with updates may be!)
*Super Slow Motion, Reverse video options etc.
*Instead of 24Mp Shooter on the front, i would rather go with dual 8Mp or 12Mp with Wide angle, aperture mode.! so which gives users a more control over bokeh modes as well.
Software:-
*First of all i would like to thank and appreciate Honor for launching devices with latest Android Versions.
*So with EMUI 8.1.0 along side Android Oreo 8.1.0 with NPU & Kirin 970, great performance and a competitive one against the ODDS.!
*From Picture in Picture mode, Navigation gestures, Clean System UI.
1. Themes:-
*Being a Theme developer, am completely disappointed with EMUI 8.1.0, i don't know why these changes happened , EMUI is famous for more customization but even a simple things like notification panel icons, settings menu icons can't be themed as of now. a completed disaster i hope Honor will reconsider to enable full customization like it was in EMUI 5.1/8.0.
2. Removal of Stock Message app:-
*As a theme developer i don't like this option but as a user i love google messenger app.!
3. Navigation Gesture:-
*A must have feature and i hope more options like tap, double tap options will be enabled in future updates!
4. Face Unlock:-
*It's super fast, works great! it works even upside down i dont know its a bug or it tends to work in that way as well.!
5. FingerPrint:-
*A controversial placement, i personally i love it but many users still prefers at the back.!
*Ultrasonic fingerprint it works well in wet hands, its fast but there is a half second delay now & there and setting up takes a lot of time compare to fingerprint sensors at the back, hopefully it will be fixed soon.
6. Notch:-
*Notch! Notch! an option to off and on, but disabling it in LCD Screen won't be good rather i will have my Notch On.!
7. Notification:-
*Lockscreen notification expansion, a must have feature but it's removed i don't know why!?
please enable in future updates.!!
Rating:- 4.4/5
For Next Version:-
*Water resistant and Shatterproof with gorilla glass would be really handy.!
*LockScreen Notification Light, it's too tiny to view the glow, hope it will be taken care in future devices.!
*Huawei Home Launcher:- It's superb, with an option to enable app drawer, widgets more importantly Google Now integration etc but in the same way why can't Huawei introduce features of Nova Launchers or Action Launchers,i hope these things will be considered in future.
Verdict:-4.5/5
**So over all Honor 10, a complete smartphone in every aspects and wins against the ODDs thanks to AI, Of course there is a few misses but some misses but those things can be fixed in updates and other misses will be repacked in future devices.
Honor AI - An Living Innovation
Huawei - We Build Smiles
I am a great fan front mounted fingerprint so in every aspect Honor 10 fulfilled.
I have seen how Honor fixes Bugs or Providing updates even it's delayed so not worrying about the updates.!
Things to get improved:-
* Please include EIS (in reception video 1080 60fps and more stability)
* With AI and NPU improve performance generality
* Front Camera with beauty or without beauty mode needs to get improved in Honor phones which launched recently.
Yes, add more settings and changer DPI. Improve performance and fluidity , Honor 10 have microlag and thermaltrottling is very High pls fix it...
I really like the Honor 10, especially because of the really good overall performance and the battery life.
Also, the quick charge feature is way faster than most other phones I have used. I have no problem with the notch and I absolutely love the face unlock (I don't even use the fingerprint sensor anymore because it is so fast).
On the other hand, maybe include an AMOLED screen the next time since you see the space next to the notch slightly glowing even when off (typical for LCD). Additionally, the fingerprint sensor tends to be a bit slow, which is why I now only use the face unlock.
All in all, this is a really great phone for the value!
This seems like a great device! I like it because it has fast charge, a good camera, and AI.
To top it off, there is a sweet design (Aurora Glass Design) on the back, and it looks amazing!
It is a great phone for the price!
One thing I would change personally would be to move the fingerprint sensor to the back, and to add an AMOLED or OLED screen.
I feel like moving the fingerprint sensor to the back would give more space for more screen.
this goes for everyone else
especially with the track record that most devices get abandoned by their creators in a year or two...
complete and timely open source code release for everything, at the same time as it is widely released on devices in most peoples hands. not just because of gpl, but because it is the right thing to do so interested community members can start learning to provide some support from the beginning and beyond.
along the same theme, full support for standards like Treble with A/B partitioning and unlockable bootloaders, and that of course the hardware, including camera, should all function just as well with a generic AOSP image for those who prefer a stock or alternative experience.
hardware that can support standards around VR / AR as it so frustrating to find a phone just misses a small requirement in some area to not support these, like accel / gyro, nfc, high resolution screens... and headset jacks so you can enable fm radio (obviously useful in case of emergency).
along with the hardware theme, user replaceable batteries, because others have figured out how to do it and keep water protection, so can you. it is much easier to carry a spare little battery that can be swapped in vs being able to tease someone with an older phone who basically has it connected to a big battery pack all the time. bonus points if you choose to be environmentally friendly and have some sort of cross phone model "standard size" user swappable battery.
that covers most issues with most phones, hope that helps.
Oh!
I love the color! Honor Is number one in beauty
and its quick and fast.
I'm on board with everyone else.
Regardless of these being high, midrange and even on budget phones.
There's no reason not to have EIS or OIS. I would rather have
1 really really good camera with OIS then multiple lens without it.
Honor smartphones are truly smart and innovative. Its own Hisilicon Kirin 970 processor is really fast and good. But in most cases its lags behind the latest Snapdragon 845 processor. Although the Kirin 970 is best for machine learning or artificial intiligence(AI) as it have a better NPU but still now software advances are not upto that mark to use its potential fully rather than camera and basic face recognition tasks for better picture quality, face unlock features, etc. Snapdragon 845 on the other hand provides Qualcomm Audio equilizer and support for EIS and OIS. So I would just suggest if at least EIS or OIS is provided. Also the video recording supports only upto 30fs and does not support 4k recording and slow motion which is very demanding and easily available in the price segment. Looks and feel of this smartphone is decent. And I really appreciate the front mounted fingerprint sensor as its really handy. Display also could have been better though.
Thank u.
As much as i want to give my own point of view, i don't have any honor device and don't think i can avoid one, at least not with my country economic crises and insane high naira/dollar exchange rate. Well with the review and comment have read, it such a great and beautiful device. i will surely appreciate it if i can get one. Thanks.
Honor 10 phone provides 32-bit audio, and a fine tuned equalizer, which the OnePlus totally misses on. Apart from the megapixel count, the Honor 10 clearly has a better camera as well, being the first to bring dual cameras to the mainstream market.
Even without the Leica branding like its siblings, Honor phones have amazing cameras and photography software.
This phone comes with an option to remove the navigation bar, and (one step ahead of the Never Settler) provides an option to use it's front mounted under-glass fingerprint sensor to navigate. Better than on screen gestures (also provided), in my opinion.
Hopefully I win!
I have never won a giveaway before, but here it goes!
What I like to see from the Honor 10 is the move to Stock Android as opposed to using EMUI. This is subjective, but I prefer stock android as it is the most optimized and speed efficient.
I also would like the Honor 10 to have a better camera than its predecessors. Since it's supposed to be the latest and greatest!
If not the move to EMUI. Then I would love software support to the latest android os. If Android P gets released. Then I hope that Huawei implements it quickly .
Bottom Line: THe Honor 10 looks like a beautiful device that I would love to have! The Ai camera seems like an excellent feature to have. I hope the camera takes great pictures.
Thank you for hosting this giveaway!
Need More Space....)!
The one and only demand from my side is "NEED MORE SPACE".
128 GB is not enough for camera lovers like me."CHEES" "SMILE" "SHOOT"
Hope the day will come and I can see 256...
Thanks,

Favorite things about Honor 10-
Camera- With 24MP+16MP Dual AI Camera and F1.8 wide Aperture, Camera enables professional and amateur photographers to take clear and crisp images.
AI feature-Real-time Recognition of 500+ Scenarios in 22 Categories, even Honor V10 is doing well under 13 categories but Honor 10 has really gone a step forward.
Huawei Super Charging - Don’t need to hang the phone to wall charger to get that full juice.
Aurora Glass Design - looks stunning. The new Aurora glass design reflects vivid colors from different angles. Simply WOW. (Have seen glass design on my Honor 8 and I feel like switching back to Honor 8 from my Honor V10 sometime due to looks)
The colours- Phantom Blue and Phantom Green, Huawei is really serious on the looks and inching a step forward with every launch.
Ultrasonic Under Glass Fingerprint Sensor -The ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the glass for fast unlock (even with wet hands)
Things that can improve this (or in fact any other Honor/huawei phones) further-
Implementation of EIS/OIS.
Things I like :
The most important thing I like about Honor 10 is its screen to body ratio. Its can be held in hand with ease and have bigger screen.Initially I was hater of Notch but now I see why its being introduced in the latest devices. It gives maximum screen to body ratio (others may have different opinion).
Its battery optimization is one of the plus point for this device. Its juice gives me two days of usage time.
Its symmetry amazes me it has nice design with good look.
I love the health app included in the phone simple yet efficient.
Things need to improve:
The back camera is great in most of the scenarios but it need to improve its AI integration. While taking photos in low light with AI enabled the quality of photos is not good as compared to normal mode.
Front camera need to be improved a lot while taking photos in low light . Please give us an option to disable beauty mode in front camera not every one likes it.
I think portrait mode is not working as desired in Honor 10.Its not blurring the surroundings .
Please fix the bluetooth connectivity issues . I cant connect my Honor 10 with Honor bluetooth headphones its not visible even while searching for headphones. If you need any more specific logs I am glad to help .
Also include option to scan QR code from the camera itself which is available in older EMUI versions.Currently its buried deeply into the system settings .
I would also like to have AMOLED screens in the upcoming models.
Its network reception is not upto the mark in congested regions I will be happy if this includes Network+ option like in EMUI 4 which increases network stability.
Also enable type of network connection made(like 2G,3G,4G/LTE) by the device on the top of network bars .
Even though we have finger print sensor to unlock I like to have double tap to wake the screen .Currently just to check notifications or time we need to unlock the screen. But if we have DT2W it wont be the case.
I know above three options can be enabled by a simple build prop edit which I made in my older devices. But I want them to include in the core.
In addition to above
I would like to have
1.Slow motion setter
2.Square cut
3.Auto enhancement based on surrounding as it has AI and NPU
4.Extreme zoom
5.HDR+ mode
6.Low light enhancement
7.Auto noise cancellor.
8.Setting up aspect ratio with different resolution
9.Photo scanner to digitalize printed old photos.
10.Gif animation creator after shooting burst photos.
11.Slow motion setter
12.Frame rate setting while shooting videos
I love the shining color of this phone, the fact that has a fingerprint on the front, a very good camera implemented with AI perfectly , the hideable notch (remains in all apps), a face unlock and a headphone jack..YESS. The price is perfect for its performace!! For me the AI technology should be implemented for other things (not only for the camera). Should be improved even the battery ( i think can be solved with an update) and the gestures with the fingerprint sensor that sometimes does not recognize it. Loving this phone, want to have it!! Thanks for reading!!
I like AI camera & the color spectrum on the back panel.
Honor
i Have Honor 7 I like all of it
honor 10 is the best update of me
Likes : *AI* cameraaa , Honor design <3 and Battery :victory:
want to improve : Photo Processing , display ppi density and move fingerprint in back again for more features :cyclops:
I really like the look of this phone.
The screen looks amazing, and the fact that I can still use a fingerprint unlock.
I'm not a fan of the notch, but I have not yet had the opportunity to use a phone for any length of time with a notch, so hopefully this will give me that chance
Huawei is an uprising brand in the world of technology. If they Keep working like this soon people will forget that Samsung Exist
Things to be added:
AOD (Always on Display)
More Fingerprint gestures.
Better Pro Camera Shot (At Average for now)
Support for more PPI and Screen Scales
The things that I
Like the Most:
Battery 3400 mAh Hell enough to get through the day
Fast Charge
Storage and RAM
Processing with new generation processors
The Latest Android
& The cool dimensions and shape of the phone
Hello everybody!
I have been interested in buying this phone, I have been messing around with it at the store and everything checks out for me except for two things.
I noticed that even in manual mode I don't get live exposure preview. By that I mean that the display doesn't show the exposure I will get before I take the photo. For example on my current phone (Blackberry Priv with the stock android photo app) If I set the ISO and aperture to something that would obviously result in an under exposed photo the live view will accurately display an under exposed preview and same goes for over exposed settings. My phone even does this in automatic mode. If I touch a dark part of the frame my live view will expose higher and when I touch a bright part of the frame it will expose lower. This is really important to me and the phones at the store don't do this and it baffles me to say the least, also considering that their advertisements include their 101 DXOmark photo rating. Is there a way around this? I never liked any of the fancy camera apps in the play store because of how buggy and clunky they are, they didn't have a google account on them so I couldn't try.
The other issue is the ISO range is limited from 100 - 1600 as on my phone I get 50 - 6400. I don't expect that big of a range but it seems tiny compared to everything else.
At the store the Mix 2s as well as the Mix 2 had serious banding issues at ISO 200 and above, I tried all the Hz settings and that didn't change anything. I'm assuming that this is a very limited issue due to location and I would probably never see it from day to day life.
I'm planning on installing as stock of android if available, would this fix any of the issues? Of course I would like to maintain the excellent camera quality if there is a fix.
Thank you for all your help!
Hi,
Live exposure preview is working here with auto mode and manual mode... I'm on xiaomi.eu rom (it's based on Chinese stable). I also can only set ISO from 100 - 1600. However, I don't know what banding is and what the different frequencies change there so I can't say something about that
That's without changing exposure compensation right?
This a Taiwanese 6GB Mix 2s, I don't know what rom it has but I know that it has the play store. I will have to check what rom it uses.
I found a post from somebody else talking about using it on his 8GB Chinese phone quote "Global fastboot image (9.5.4.0) from the Taiwan MIUI website" I don't know if its the same rom as the xiaomi.eu.
I have attached a photo of the phone with banding on a picture I took. Banding is when the framerate doesn't line up with the frequency of the lights. Its the first time that I have experienced this but I'm probably worried over nothing.
Thanks for helping me out with this.

Global rom and xiaomi.eu rom are different roms, xiaomi.eu is a custom rom based on chinese stable but optimized for the use in western countrys(or any country outside china) with play services and playstore and so on. Beside the name it's not related to xiaomi so it's not official. My banding settings are on 50Hz (didn't change anything, was like this before) and I was not able to reproduce an effect like on your photo. The only setting I found related to exposure is "auto exposure settings" and it's set to "center weighted" don't know if that is what you meant with "That's without changing exposure compensation right?"
There are lot's of camera tests on youtube, maybe one of them can answer your questions better than me
Thank you for the info. I didn't know that the global and xiaomi.eu Roms were different. I wonder why the xiaomi.eu Rom isn't based on the global rom?
Exposure compensation can be changed by tapping on the image to focus, a circle will appear with two little arrows on the right. Slide the arrows up and down to change exposure compensation.
I will verify the auto exposure settings. Maybe this will fix the issue I'm having.
The problem with exposure is that in the camera live preview, the shutter speed is always set to automatic. The shutter speed change triggers only while thr phone is taking a picture.
Regarding banding, never had trouble. It might be appearing due to a very bad setup of halogen lights in the store, I think that these people that work there get a lot of eye strain
You are right, I went to a different store and in manual mode the exposure preview shutter speed/ISO wasn't changing. I'm sure that other phones use a combination of shutter speed and ISO to generate the preview because the image remains pretty smooth even when setting a long exposure.
I checked again for the live preview in automatic mode, when touching bright spots the exposure would decrease and touching dark spots would increase exposure, so at least we have that.
You are right about the lights they are very harsh in the first store. I couldn't reproduce the banding in the second store.
I can confirm that the Taiwanese phones use Global stable 9.5.4.0 and the model is: M1803D5XA
The phones are out of stock everywhere so I need to wait
Using global stable here. Changing ISO has immediate affects on the subject for me. In the viewfinder, I can see the difference between ISO 100-1600

Google Camera Port by BSG and @sannn111ty for the Poco f1
If you don't really know why you are here, You can download Gcam here. Gcam is short for Google's camera app that ships with the pixels. Google has been making incredible advances in camera software that they put on their Pixel devices. Most of the magic of the camera quality of pixel's reside in the High Dynamic Range google algorithms. However, this software is not officially available for other devices. BSG is the first developer to have adapted Gcam for other devices. He now has a MI 8, which is very siùilar to the Pocophone, so his ports actually work pretty well on this phone.
Here is a list of the features that make google's software stand apart from all the other stock and 3rd party camera apps. (Not all of them are available in the ports, but more appear with time).
HDR + and HDR+ Enhanced: That's what most people want Gcam for. The app takes multiple pictures at different exposure levels and combines them to get even lighting. This photography technique is available on many stock cams, but Google's custom implementation of it is generally regarded as highly superior.
Super Res Zoom: That is a "usebug" feature. When you're taking a picture, unless you have a tripod, you can't hold the phone perfectly still. Google uses this slight movement to take multiple shots, which are then combined to make out more detail for the final image. Where other OEMs add a second camera, Google gives better results with just one.
Night Sight: where HDR combines multiple under-exposed shots, Night Sight does the same thing with over-exposed and longer exposed images. This produces impossible-before shots with way less noise and blur in very low-light conditions. In Daylight, Night Sight Mode also applies Super res Zoom to the image, giving a lot more detail to your pictures.
ZSL HDR+: ZSL stands for Zero Shutter Lag. As HDR uses multiple pictures, you need to wait for the phone to snap those multiple shots. ZSL essentially means your phone is always taking pictures and has a couple already buffered when you hit the shutter, so you don't need to wait.
Portrait Mode: That's blurring that background of an image behind a face. this is a trend on smartphones, and most OEMs implement it by adding a second camera on the back. the two sensors produce a slightly different image and you can calculate from the difference where to blur the image. But Google has decided not to add a second sensor to their phones. The way they pull it off is by local Artificial intelligence to detect faces and blur the rest.
Photosphere: This is essentially a 360° Panorama. You point around you and the phone takes, then stitches together, multiple images in a sphere around you. You can then view the pictures by moving them around with your fingers, or moving around your phone like a window around you.
Panorama: That is self-explanatory. like everything else, Gcam takes excellent panoramas.
Video Recording: Gcam Records video at up to [email protected]
Slow-Motion: this port can take slow-motion videos at up to [email protected]
Top Shot: Google's AI is now so good it know what a good image is like. If you hit the shutter too Soon or too late, Google will suggest another shot. It will actually take a dozen out of which you can choose, but will also suggest the best one.
Photobooth: As the camera is continually shooting and waiting for you to tap the shutter, why couldn't it do this for you too? Once Photobooth is on, you just leave your phone and it will take the picture on its own when it "sees something interesting", like a smile. Essentially, it's an AI photograph for group shots where everyone can fit in and lets you use the back sensor instead of the selfie cam.
Tracking Autofocus : As the name implies, once you click on an object while filming, it will keep the focus on it however it moves.
I am not a developer, but the subforum is for gcam ports, so here is the one for the Pocophone, with instructions and
Go to this thread, wich always has the last version up.
You are welcome to post your amazing pictures here :
These ports are specifically made for the Pocophone F1. They might or might not work on your phone.
If you find that our APK's work well on your other model, you can open a thread for your phone to help others find a working APK faster and discuss model-specific issues.
If you have bugs, something isn't working correctly, please don't just post "Not Working !!!!" That doesn't help. Give details :
- The model of your Phone, your ROM if you're using one, any fixes installed;
- The name of the apk you're using;
- Screenshots or video recordings of the bug if you're able to;
- A logcat if there's a crash;
- Steps to reproduce the bug/crash;

Try flashing twrp fix bro. It fixed my issue.
Try installing MIUI 10 v10.2.2.0 or higher , it should fix most of problems with gcam
Love this camera ...
I installed gcam and flashed twrp fix. I was using 10.1.3.0
After 10.2 I updated it and flashed twrp fix again for the lag issue.
Now I noticed that portrait mode is not working in stock camera. ?
i downloaded and it seems fine ...
Confused a bit, what is the difference between this and the one here :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/themes/b-s-g-google-camera-port-developed-mi-8-t3843130
Update to miui 10.2.2.0 i installed the same version of gcam on miui 10.1.3.0 and it didnt work i manually updated to miui 10.2.2.0 and it worked to install it just use android studs guide
Maybe a dumb question.? How is "Motion" in GCam working? Is it working at all? I have never found any of these short videos. Where are they stored? I'm using a Pocophone F1.
Thank you
Working fine with poco rom stock mui 10.3.6
Hello,
Some of you know the port of GCam made by Zoran, the ZGcam (https://koopahtmaniac.com/). The only partial working version of exynos version.
A few days ago, the person that started GCam port, BSG, released a version with support to exynos processors.
Changelog of the public version from BSG (8.1.101 from 03/10/2021):
- Added support for devices with Exynos processors running Android 10+.
- Fixed problems with add-on modules for Sony devices.
- Fixed all known issues with Google Pixel 4, 4XL, V
- The design has been redesigned (it will still be improved and a description of the settings and translation will be added).
- Added gallery selection by default (you don't need to include anything, everything is automatically enabled).
- Removed depth modules that could not shoot.
- Fixed shortcuts.
- Many minor fixes.

All versions from BSG
I've tested this and the back camera works fine (better with AWB activated). But the front camera doesn't work (maybe they can fix this in the future).
I'm just sharing this. I'm not involved in the development or celsoazevedo's website.
Note: Choose "com.samsung.android.ruler" version. If this doesn't work, try the version "com.samsung.android.scan3d"
A few things:
Frontal camera
Now, the frontal camera wont work out of the box. To make the front camera working:
Open GCam
Swipe down to open the quick settings menu and click in the settings icon
Choose "Modules"
Choose Front (0.9)
Swipe down until you see "ViewFinder Format". Change from JPEG to YUV
Go back and do the same for the Front (1.0)
Now, you can take pictures with the frontal cameras. Note that I couldn't make both lens working, only one (even you see the button to switch to the other camera, for me doesn't work).
Telephoto or ultra wide lens
By default, you can use only 2 cameras. But S10+ have 3.
To use the telephoto or ultra wide lens:
Open GCam
Swipe down to open the quick settings menu and click in the settings icon
Choose "Module"
You should see 3 entries for "Back". Each have the "zoom value"
Back (0.5) -> ultra wide
Back (1.0) -> main
Back (1.9) -> telephoto
Now you should choose the lens you don't want. Click on the lens you don't want, scroll down and choose "Disable this lens". For example: You want ultra wide and main cameras. So you would disable the telephoto lens. If you want telephoto, you need to disable ultra wide. You only have 2 options on the viewfinder, you need to trick the camera to think you only have 2 lens, so that the correct lens appear.
Other settings:
Settings -> Global: -> JPEG Compression to 98% or even 100%
This will increase the photo quality
Settings -> Advanced -> Control HDR+
Then go to the viewfinder, swipe down and choose HDR+ with a little symbol in the circle (button in the right). Each photo will take longer to take, but you will have more quality
Settings -> Gobal: -> Focus Tracking (Photo)
Click in a subject and it will keep that subject in focus, even if you move the camera

Just gave it a try: As soon as I start the app (*Eng.apk / *Snap.apk) it crashes. So I can't use it.
Running LOS 18.1. without GApps.I think that's the reason even if ZGCam was working all the time and I have fake gcam services provider installed.

As it seems there is an issue with the fake services needed by GCam.
But there's already a workaround as written here.
So we have a solution again if you don't want to use GApps.
Hello, I don't know if that's the only thing for me, but when I use GCam, I have a small image lag.

Yes, from time to time there are new versions
MGC_8.1.101_A9_GVq_ruler.apk and MGC_8.1.101_A9_GVq_scan3d.apk seem to be working fine on Exynos. Also, the front camera launches, but the capture button doesn't save the picture.
Also, I can't get the wide-angle lens working here by tweaking the mod settings. However, I got the wide-angle lens working in ZGCAM.
Although, this version is actually quite smoother. Hopefully, we will have the front cam working soon

I think there is a beta version that maked the front cam working. We just need to wait a bit more.
I was able to use the wide-angle lens. But I've found a limitation. You either have the wide angle or the telephoto lens. You can't have the hability to choose both when you want.
For an example, I had the 1x option and sliding to the left I have 0.5x. But no 2x.
So, I've gone to the settings and disable the lens 0.5x. Then it appears the 2x lens.
Hope it will be a fix in the future.

Just install the apk. However, I did find that you can only use 2 lens at time. So, you can use the main and telephone lens. If you want the switch the telephone by the wide angle, you need to disable the telephone lens in the settings
But problem is I don't find setting anything related to telephoto lens?
Hello guys
The BSG versions of the Gcam mod works really stable on our device. But there aren't optimized configs available, so the colors do need to get a little bit tweaked. In the newest versions, it's possible to save and load configs. So it would be nice if we can test some settings out. I also tried it, so you can use it as a base if you want.
Some notes about the changes:
SlibP Custom lib
some settings in "Additional modules settings" (much more to try out there, that's the main place to play around)
activated instantaneous hdr+ enhanced (hdr+ enhanced but without loading time [ZSL], but viewfinder lags a little bit while rendering the final image because of the phone's performance)
Location to place config file: \Download\MGC.8.1.101_Configs
Used Gcam version: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-bsg/f/dl16/
There is also a thread for the A52 5G. Because both devices use the same cameras, it would be great to have one place to tinker.
Which is the apk I have to download? Why are there so many options?
Is it OK to download the fist one?
Wierd, the Samsung cam has way more HDR.

Some manufacturers only give access to the cameras for specific package names. With the Samsung ones, you should be on the safe side. You can also install different versions with different names to make tests

Try to disable "instantaneous hdr+ enhanced" and make sure hdr+ enhanced is activated. I think the google stock libs are a little bit brighter, so it should also look more like HDR. There's also a setting to change how many pictures are combined for a HDR+ image, try to increase the value. For me, too much of an HDR effect makes the image unnatural
Do the app always need to restart everytime changing lense ? And I got weird flashes on screen while trying to take a picture.

I actually agree that Samsung's pictures look better (as in more accurate to real life) when in bright conditions. GCam has slightly lower noise, but no matter what HDR mode I choose, Samsung still has better HDR and the picture looks brighter overall. GCam's night mode is much better, though.
First one is Samsung, second is Gcam. Samsung's colours are closer to life. Keep in mind that the houses are brightly lit, as this was taken in the morning and they're facing East. For example the flowers in the pot in the balcony of the left house look very bright and vivid IRL. (The sharpness of the shadows near the roof is likely due to clouds moving)
First one is Samsungs, second is Gcam HDR+, third is Gcam HDR+ Enhanced
Both Gcam HDR+ Enhanced (7 or 15 frames doesn't do much), but first one with Google's AWB (like the previous ones), second one without. The second one looks much better, but a little over-saturated. One thing I did notice in the configs is that the AWB is set for a Sony IMX686 sensor, which I don't know if it is correct. I've been unable to find details on the sensor used in the A52. In any case, It seems that the takeaway here is to keep Google's AWB off.
These were all taken using @phoberus 's config file.

Thanks for the testing. I can confirm that the brightness and colors are not quite good yet. But almost everything should be adjustable. So we still have to test a bit. The sensor I got from gsmarena.com, but is just a guess from them. By default, Pixel2 would be active, which is certainly not correct, but also worked.
Brightness correction: Additional modules settings > Lens x > Exposure compensation
saturation: Additional modules settings > Lens x > Ram Patcher > Saturation (off means it gets the variables from the lib, there are also other nice settings there to create our own lib)

phoberus' config crashes my GCam viewfinder. I can't test the actual image quality yet since it's the middle of the night here as I'm posting this message.
So I tried Nikita's version, in terms of Color and HDR (default) it's the closest to the default camera app. I'm still playing around with the settings, so pictures to follow.
So, M51 has a similar camera setup with A52 so I thought I'd use a GCAM version from the M51 GCAM thread. Just testing Night mode and it's very clear that GCAM (right) works better. I'll edit this post to include more samples later.

I actually tried a version of Greatness' GCAM and produced better daytime pictures, color was somewhat natural but it had better details (not noise). Unfortunately, I can't get the wide-angle lens and videos to work so I scrapped it.
I honestly don't mind the issues regarding color/hdr issues since a quick application of a vibrance filter is almost indistinguishable from the default cam. I mean it could be what the default samsung camera app is doing.
Edit: Also strange thing, low light (outdoor dusk scenario) and I get plenty of noise on GCAM compared to the default cam.
