Starting from this afternoon I randomly get a notification with the boom sound badge saying that boomsound switched to theater or music mode. The notification is always with sound even if the phone is in no disturb mode.
I checked with Notification access app and the notification details are the following:

Are you using the Notificon app by any chance?

No, the strange thing is the notification disappear after a couple of seconds and I can hear the sound even if the phone is in no disturb mode
Some app might be playing sound in the background as a custom "notification".

Yes.
In my case it seems to be Viber.
Problem is I don't know how to stop it.

When I get some email or notification from an app e.g. youtube, the audio notification plays but it will not stop even after I have opened or dismissed the notification.
How to fix this?
Secondly, how do I change or disable notification sound for these apps/messages
Sometimes, during the day, I set my Phone with Android 7.1.1 to Do Not Disturb mode. However there are some notifications that I don't wanna miss, and I mean that I also want to hear the notification or alarm sound.
So I went into Settings > Applications and for my important apps (Reminder [1] and Whatsapp) I went in notification settings and I enable "override do not disturb" for both apps; furthermore I disabled these apps from battery optimization.
Well: despite the fact that I set these apps to "override do not disturb", when these apps receive/display a notification with a certain sound when DND is active, I only can see them with the LED and I can't hear any sound (but the notification is however displayed also on the lock screen).
So is a matter of no sound played. All is ok when DND is not active.
I miss something or is a know bug?

Sorry for the noise: I reply to myself, since I found the solution (imho very hidden).
On the DND icon in the bar menu i double clicked and some options appeared: I choosed "Priority only", so the apps which are set to "override do not disturb" now are able to play a sound when the phone is set to DND.
I hope that this solution could be useful to someone.
When I swipe down to refresh Twitter I hear a popping noise regardless of the volume level and even in silent mode.
Edit: I fixed it by changing the alarm volume in the ring mode but this is a bug that will probably occur more than once if not patched.
I was getting sound notifications a little while ago. Both call and text sound notifications as well as sounds for other apps.
I don't know what I did but it's all silent and not even any vibrations
I checked the toggle slider above the power button, and its in the bottom most position that indicates "ring".
Volume for Ring, Media, and Alarm are all at a level above 0, so I should hear something.
Settings>Apps & Notifications. I've checked various apps like messenger, textra (sms app), and notifications are "on".
Sorry for being an idiot.
Thanks for your suggestions.
Dnd was turned on automatically which started at 12pm, instead of 12am, by my mistake.
Hi,
I've just installed a smart smoke alarm... the X-Sense XS01-WT. It uses the Smart Life android app (Smart Life on Google Play), which I've been using for a long time to control smart power plugs, lights etc. But this is the first time it's been important that the app sends me a powerful alarm in case the smoke alarm gets triggered. Whilst I've almost got it right - a custom siren sound that plays even when the phone is in Do Not Disturb mode - I have one remaining problem.
Notifications seem to be limited to a 5 second duration; far too short for me to be certain that it would wake me up when asleep at night. This is shown by going to Settings -> Notification & status bar -> Manage notifications -> App notifications/Smart Life -> Default notification -> Ringtone. There it says " The selected audio file will play for up to five seconds". This same message is shown for every app I've checked.
So I'm hoping someone can help me overcome this five second limit. Knowing that alarm clock apps play their sounds for far longer and have a separate volume setting (so they can always be set to maximum), can I somehow convince the phone that, instead of playing the siren mp3 file as a notification, it should treat it as an alarm which will be played for its total duration at maximum volume? Or, failing that, is there a hidden setting that defines the maximum notification duration?
Many thanks in anticipation of someone knowing the answer!
