AOSP Rom? - Huawei P20 Questions & Answers

Hi all
Simple as the title suggests.
How do we get AOSP on our devices?
Are there any devs on other forums that are working on this, since the P20 is Treble compatible?
Right now, the only caveat for me would be losing hw support for the camera.
Peace ✌?

Patience.
We barely have an almost fully working recovery. The device is still new. There isn't much development going on yet.

True...
On the same general topic;
Does anyone know if Huawei has a site, or policy in place to address AOSP/Android license compliance questions?
My thought is that I would like to find a source of information or development team that could maybe answer open source questions regarding their hardware.
I personally feel that Huawei would benefit from an openness towards the dev community...

Maybe Project Treble is the only hope.

This AOSP is work.

Bug list is https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/Huawei-P20-(EML-L29)
developer is doing a new version where bugs should be fixed. It pays to wait. But the ROM is booting, it has serious errors, see the link above.

How come i never see the p20 on any treble supported devices list. Only the p20 pro an lite?

Hi there...
I was searching info about this phone and to my surprise there is no forum for it.
Doing a little bit of research into the forums, i found that "a lot of people" are looking for this to happen, that XDA-Developers.com could create a forum specifically for this device.
I know there's still too early for modifications and stuff for the device, since the bootloader is blocked by motorola, BUT, that's where we can do something about it.
So, after reading a LOT of "why XDA-Developers doesn't open a forum for the device?", i thought, maybe is a good idea to see if there's enough people around REALLY looking for this to happen, and to help the XDA-Developers team see how much interest is in the XT615.
So there you have it, what are your thoughts about it?
We have been fighting for a XT165 own forum since months. There is a thread with more than 125pages, with some devs working on our device... so actually we got root, a cwm recovery, a 2nd init and some themes...
We need a bigger space, so we can talk about each topic in it own thread, making navigation more clear and easier for users. We need some help with the bootloader, cause it's still blocked. And with some luck and time, we can get ICS/JB in our devices.
All device forum requests can be made here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660354

CUSTOM ROM for DOOGEE MIX

I know MIX is pretty new, (or else they did not like it like me)
but I've already done a lot of research, and I was quite fooled by websites too ... is there no custom ROM for it?
The same is still true of Android 7.0 ...
### Is it possible to convert a ROM from one device to another? ###
### Is there a problem with MIX being MediaTek? So no ROMs yet? ###

As i've understood mediatek has some propietary code thats a backache for some developers, so that's why probably there aren't roms yet.
I'm propietary of a Samsung Note 3, with an open Snapdragon with a really good support for roms and also I have a Huawei P8 that really lacks of good support, all because of it's propietary Kirin processor.
Probably if someone is developing a rom for this phone, they wouldn't like to publish something like this(my channel XD): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkaoRIfagg0

Custom ROMs for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite 7.0 SM-T110

I was looking for a custom ROM for my tablet and I found some links for Lineage OS 14.1 ROMs but all the links are dead. I was wondering if there are any more links for that version of Lineage OS specifically for my device that are still working. If there aren't any, could anybody help me find a ROM based on a newer version of Android? I know this is an old device but I want to keep it up and running with a newer OS. I also want to know if SM-T111 ROMs are compatible with this device because I saw that it's just a 3G version of the SM-T110. I don't want to do anything yet because I don't want to risk hard bricking my device. Thanks!
I think this link may work, sorry for the two years late reply: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767126057

I have an Android phone with a thermal imaging camera; can you help me reverse engineer it?

Hi!
I've bought a Blackview BV6600Pro. I don't see any existing forums on it (not surprising, Blackview doesn't seems to be very popular), so I'm posting this here.
This phone has an actual FLIR thermal imaging camera, with a Lepton sensor I think. It was $240, including shipping. As far as I can tell, that's _by far_ the cheapest thermal imaging camera you can get with this good of resolution. Here's the laptop I'm writing this on:

That said, the stock firmware kinda sucks. And I don't expect any security updates. I'd love to get Lineage up and running, but have no clue where to start. It's based on a MediaTek MT6765V, if that's relevant.
I'm a very experienced software engineer, and long-time linux user, but don't know many details about Android.
Anyone here interested in pointing me in the right direction? I don't even know how to dump the stock ROM off it.
Thanks in advance!
-Morgan
P.S. I'm also happy to take requests for infrared photos I mostly got this thing just to sate my own curiosity.

Custom Rom is safe, because everyone said it opensource, But ??

Simple question: does anyone really review the code????

Yes. You'll see a lot of 'contributors' on any ROM's GitHub page and as they add/tweak features, fix bugs and clean things up, the code is being checked constantly. These can be dozens of even thousands of people checking each other's work. This doesn't even consider the people that just look at the code, which everyone is free to do.
Here's the people working on a crDroid ROM for the OnePlus 7T:

Here's almost 10k people involved on a kernel:
On our side – the moderator team – we do a lot of version checking to see if the published versions of components actually match the ones in the source code. Of course, as there is a tremendous amount of code in a ROM, not everything is meticulously being reviewed line by line but anything remotely malicious tends to stand out and when there's the slightest bit of doubt a deeper analysis will occur by multiple parties. Next to all that there are also automated reviewing processes and built in safeguards.
