Hello,
I'm new to the XDA forums and hope you guys can help.
Last night, I came to the mind that I would flash my phone. I completed everything in torr's "[Tutorial] Root, Unlock, Recovery, and Flashing a Custom Rom" without any problems. First loaded Viper's Rom, no problems. Then I wanted to see how the other ROMs looked like so I proceeded to load Energy (had Wi-Fi connection issues), some of the "Without Sense" ROMs on Uwe303's, and finally tried to load BAKED Blackbean and hit a rock.
I'm stuck on the Recovery screen. I can't go into Fastboot either via the volume way, adb, or Hansoon200's AIO Kit. When I try to restart the phone, the red signal light goes on and off twice, screen blips twice, and goes back into recovery. I can't RUU, because I can't re-lock the Bootloader. I have been able to push other ROMs and flash them, but to the same results. Can someone help me?
Thank you.

Sounds like you flash CWM which is buggy you want to flash TWRP. The trick to getting into the bootloader is to hold the Vol- as you turn the phone off while holding Vol- let go of power and press and hold again. Also the reason it didn't boot was that you didn't fastboot the boot.img.

I used Hansoon's AIO to flash the boot.img before every refresh and holding Vol- still brings me straight to CWM. I can't flash TWRP right now cause I can't get it to the bootloader.

You just have to keep trying and maybe tweak what I said because without getting into bootloader there nothing you can do but as soon as you do flash TWRP it will make it easier to get into the bootloader.

Thanks =] I'll keep trying then
Not sure exactly what you are doing on the "volume- way"
The only way I get to bootloader is to hold down vol- and pwr at same time for about 5-7 seconds, then release only pwr. Continue to hold vol- down till it boots. May take 20 seconds or so.
Were you wiping all including system before flashing these roms
You said you can adb push a rom then flash it, try that again with wiping all including system 2x
when you were in adb you tried to get to bootloader by typing "adb reboot bootloader" ? no quotes
just some ideas--not sure if you them all or not

Sometimes when you are in recovery with CWM you can also use "adb" commands. Connect your device when its in recovery to your pc via usb. Then try "adb reboot bootloader" as a command.

Only issue with that is it will boot into CWM because of the USB cable.
same issue
hey guys,
I'm having the same issue of rebooting into CWM recovery and have no way out.
I've tried both the VOL DOWN option and the "adb reboot bootloader" option, and I am having no luck.
Can you please help me get OUT of CWM recovery????
Thanks!
I was trying to get the latest twrp '2.8.7.2'. I downloaded it and flashed the img to recovery and nothing seemed to happen so I tried flashing it to boot then I tried to reboot the system. Now when I try to turn it on I get stuck on the Google like it is turning but it just gets stuck. I tried Charging it now when I charge it I get stuck on the battery logo. When I try booting it Booting it into recovery(twrp) I get a black screen. I can tell the Screen is on because of the dim glow it gives off but it is not doing anything. Note: I am some what of a noob when it comes to this stuff, My nexus 5 was running Marshmallow, and I was running the Xtra smooth rom (it is very close to stock). Plz help. I have also just found out that the reason im getting the bootloop is I flashed the wrong version of TWRP need a fix PLZ HELP.
Did you try flashing stock recovery or twrp 2.8.7.1?

All you have to do is boot into your bootloader (Power + Volume Up + Volume Down at the same time) and flash the stock recovery.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Chances are you flashed an incorrect version of TWRP meant for another phone hence the boot loop.

Can you please explain to me exactly what to do. thank you. also my bootloader is unlocked. I also can get to fastboot so what is the diffrence between bootloader and fastboot.
Hold down the volume +, volume -, and power button. You'll be taken to a screen with the word START at the top. Now, connect the phone to your Windows computer using the USB cable, open a command prompt and type "fastboot flash recovery nameof twrpfile.img", press the enter key, use the volume button to select recovery, use the power button to enter recovery, press the power button, press volume + button, and you should enter TWRP.
Thank you but I do not own a windows computer
Then look up the respective commands. You flashed twrp over your kernel, you need to flash a proper boot.img (kernel) if you want the phone to boot. Fastboot is ran through bootloader. Flash the proper kernel in bootloader using fastboot.

It might not have been working because I did not enable USB Debuging. :crying:
USB debugging is required for adb commands. With fastboot mode, debugging isn't necessary.

Can you please walk me through this i am some what of a beginner when it comes to some of these things. I can try the tool kits agin but need help.
Hello everyone!! i am trying to get the xt1542 version of a moto g3 working, my brother said he tried to update something and then it turned like this:
No booting to OS, only M logo then restarts, it detects usb and fastboot, still can't open recovery, bp tools, etc, fastboot is locked and i can't access Operative Sys to unlock OEM.
Right now i am doing the .BAT thing to charge the phone on "adb and fastboot", so it is booting many times charging the cel.
I tried to flash from "adb and fastboot" but i get a fail notice (i think, this is because i have my fastboot locked).
I alrady downloaded my stock firmware for my cellphone version.
Finally, i saw a tutorial of unlocking fastboot vĂa some "img" files or something but was for other model / terminals.
What can i do? what i should do?, thanks in advance!!
Can you go into bootloader?? And can you (or your brother) tell what the "update" was, a little more in detail??
What is the "BAT" thing? Won't the phone charge when turned off?
Did you try just going into recovery and doing a factory reset?

As i said on title can't go to recovery, it's on red letters also. Sorry about the bat thing, is an adb bat file to makethe cellphone reset multiple times to make it receive charge. i am on a boot loop and it cannot be charged off, when you put charger or usb it starts restarting.
He cannot explain to me what update, i think official one maybe.

I'd recommend leaving it at the bootloader while it charges, constant rebooting may drain more battery. After sufficient charging, you can try flashing latest official firmware via fastboot.
I can't be 100% sure if it'll succeed in this case. Fastboot gives a 'Preflash Validation failed' error message if the target firmware is newer than the one to be installed. And if this is indeed an OTA, then there is a slight chance of failing. (It'll not harm the phone as nothing will be flashed).
Nevertheless you should give it a shot.

For factory resetting, in bootloader mode, press volume down twice, when you see 'recovery' (in red), press power button. That should open up recovery with an Android logo. Press and hold power and press volume up once. Now you should see option for factory resetting.
BTW, I think I charged my phone once in bootloader mode.
For the fastboot flash part, if every command returns 'Preflash validation failed', then probably nothing can be done except to wait for a newer firmware to be released.

From the bootloader, flash the recovery.img from the factory image with "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and let it complete (shouldn't take more than 10-15 seconds), then WITHOUT rebooting select Recovery on the phone and it should start recovery. Once you get the android on it's back and it says "No Command", then press VOL UP+Power to get to the recovery menu. If you can't get to this point there is more wrong here than just a flashing issue.

Flashing OKAY, but still nothing, bootloop. What do you think?
I have a Honor 6x (BLN-L24) with EMUI 5+, Android Nougat, all updated. It is the U.S. edition. I unlocked the Bootloader, installed ADB / Fastboot tools and can flash the correct TWRP recovery image (3.1.1-0-berlin.img) but everytime I try to reboot into recovery, the standard EMUI recover overwrites TWRP and I just end up in the EMUI recovery.
I've looked at every forum I can find, articles, etc... but can't wrap my head around this one. If anyone with a similar experience and/or with a solution could help, I'd be most grateful.
Thank you!
I agree with with Rommco05. He IS correct, as I wondered the same thing till I realized to try unplugging it. Also make sure its the Power AND up buttons at same time. If you happen to hold only the up button it will take you to the erecovery feature where it trys hooking to WiFi for updates , which wont help you either.
Still doesn't work
Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately, unplugging doesn't do it either with the key combination you suggested. The following article is helpful for key combinations but alas, it still won't load into TWRP.
It is really strange as I can't even get past "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted" screen now. It just stays there...
Super frustrating. I didn't know if it had anything to do with my model being the BLN-L24 US version. I bought it at BestBuy unlocked.
Also, when I try to download "Latest Version and Recovery" from "Huawei eRecovery", I'm getting "Getting package info failed". I

That's not the cause. My phone is also a BLN-L24 purchased from Best Buy and I have no issues using TWRP. What did you do after you install TWRP? Did you let the phone just reboot or did you try to go into TWRP before rebooting?
This is straight from TWRP website:
"Note many devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot. To prevent this, use Google to find the proper key combo to enter recovery. After typing fastboot reboot, hold the key combo and boot to TWRP. Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP. If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install."
Key combination timing?

That is the problem, I'm unable to enter TWRP after flashing it, unplugging the usb cable, holding power/volume up...
Finally got Twrp installed. Rooted and installed custom Rom (lineageos) but when I reboot after flash screen, it's just blank...
If I were you, I would go completely back to stock and start over. Once you fastboot flash TWRP, it is imperative that you reboot back into TWRP before booting into the OS. Also, bootloaders don't overwrite recoveries. They are separate partitions, so your title is a bit misleading.
Regardless, you must still have stock recovery on your device since it is "defaulting" to that instead of TWRP. Like I said, it is extremely important to boot into recovery after you first flash it.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
let it do it's thing.
fastboot reboot recovery OR you can do it manually in TWRP right after the flash.
Have you tried rebooting to recovery from the system?
Connect your device to your computer, enable USB Debugging, and run
Code:
adb reboot recovery
from Windows CMD or Linux Shell, or any other one you prefer.
If this works, then you are doing the recovery key combination wrong.
Cheers
I'm having the same issue as OP. I have a BLN-L24 from Best Buy in the US. Reverted to emui 4.1 and android 6, unlocked bootloader, flashed twrp-3.2.1-0-berlin.img, and it keeps booting into huawei erecovery.
I didn't get any info on what the OP actually did to get twrp installed.
FWIW, there is no "fastboot reboot recovery"
FWIW2, you can't turn off the honor 6x from the bootloader. the best you can do is a hard reboot.
