I am reading this and thinking how many times I wanted to sent SMS, but instead it was converted to MMS
https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/04/20/three_uk_mms_price_increases/
and then I saw an extra charge on my bill, but I could have sent it via Telegram or other messaging app.
I order to stop my phone sending MMS, is it sufficient to change APN settings "APN type" to "default, supl, dun, hipri" and take out the mms as well as
delete MMSC, MMS proxy and MMS port details?

Hey everyone. For two years, I've had an MMS server on my domain. I set it up back when I was on Verizon and had the E815. On that phone, you could have two MMS servers: one for Verizon, and one for a custom (after hacking, of course). Basically, I can send the file to whoever, but a copy also gets posted immediately on the MMS server. It's a very handy feature to have.
I have not used the MMS server since switching, because the option simply wasn't there with every other phone I've had. Now with the Tilt, I can enter an additional MMS server, but I have to go in and change the config each time to make my server default.
Is there any way to edit the "send" dialog boxes in MMS so I can send to my alternative server w/o making it default?
Thanks in advance!
After seeing several areas in my phone and in many other phones, of where you can manually input the MMS settings (like server etc..), is it possible (maybe they already exist) that a company or a website could run there own MMS service and have messages routed to your phone (and you could send MMS through this service as well?) and possibly also have an online account?
It could be the youmail.com of MMS.
someone posted an MMS by Mail post just a while ago in the Dev&Hack section i believe.. you should look it up.

Does anyone know how to check/edit APN setting on the nexus 5 for Sprint? Hangouts can't send MMS over WiFi with whatever the defaults are set to but I can't find how to see or edit APNs on here
Edit: OK I found the settings and they are correct for sprint...so I'm not sure why hangouts has trouble sending MMS, maybe its just crap
You need cell data to send MMS and SMS, can not send over wifi with Sprint.

Incorrect, Sprint allows sending MMS over WiFi and has for years. Usually s5ock apps work just fine and a few third party apps have got it right, for some reason hangouts will only work a few times at random...even over cell data hangouts seems to be a mess.
Apps that can send MMS over WiFi on Sprint:
Stock sms apps on Sprint devices
8sms
Hangouts (sometimes)
Apps that temporarily switch on cell data to send:
Sliding messaging
Textra
Not tested by me:
Gosms
Handsent
Stock AOSP sms app
To send over WiFi the following must be used:
mmsc: http://mms.sprintpcs.con
Proxy: 68.28.31.7
Port: 80

How were you able to find the settings? Can you post the steps here? Thanks.
Hey everyone, I just got my phone and was able to setup a few things and get it working. I've noticed that I can't send or receive mms while on tmobiles network. I believe I have the correct settings
asp:
Fast.t-mobile.com
mmsc:
http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
I also checked in with t-mobile tech at the store... Those guys weren't any help but any ideas what I can do?
Is this an issue for anyone else?
Which messaging app are you using?
Nvm, I was trying to use stock messeging app... Idk what's wrong with me. But I just downloaded textra and that works perfectly. Currently deciding between fb messenger, textra and android messeges
Yeah, I've had some problems with TM mms on 8.1, particularly around group messaging. I think the problems were related to the Android Messages app, which like everything else these days seems to be in a permanent beta state. Wiping data for whichever app you're using is also sometimes helpful.
