As of yesterday, my mobile data has stopped working. I can still make calls, and according to Net Analyzer the network type was LTE.
I flashed to 930U from 930VL a few weeks ago, but mobile data seemed to have been working fine in the interim. Any idea what could be causing this?
I do have mobile data on and did try toggling it, I have tried rebooting the phone, and I cannot edit my APN settings, but it's using "Tracfone - Verizon / VZWINTERNET".
Any ideas/similar problems/solutions are appreciated!
You haven't got anything like battery / network data saver turned on?
Changed anything in the developer settings?
Got another phone you can put the SIM in and make sure it's not a SIM issue?

Data saver is off, and I don't think I've changed anything in the developer settings.
I'll have to borrow someone's phone to check the SIM. What does it mean if it does or doesn't have mobile data in theirs?
If it works in theirs then you know it's probably your phone, if it doesn't work in theirs then you know your phone is probably okay (assuming their phone isn't carrier locked).
Surprising (& confusing) updates
Service in my area got a little loopy today during a large storm. We lost power, and so WiFi, at which point I looked at my phone and it had working 3G. Later, it showed LTE, but no mobile data. Then working 3G again, which I took a screenshot of. Since then I've had LTE & EVDO-A, both non-functional. What the heck is going on here?
Now back to working EVDO-A 3G, for some reason...

Edit: 3G is working reliably, and LTE is down.

Hello all. It seems as though I've come across a pretty serious issue with my Dash 3G. I have been using Ookba's 3VOLUTION ROMs for some time now and over the weekend, my phone suddenly stopped being able to make/receive any calls. I re-flashed the phone to the latest 3VOLUTION ROM (04/10/10 build) and it hasn't fixed the issue. I've put the SIM into another phone and it works perfectly, so I know it's not a bad SIM card. I don't know of any software settings that can persist like this (after a ROM flash). Furthermore, why it happened suddenly is totally beyond me. Does anyone have any suggestions I can try? This is terrible timing as I just had a job interview and I need to keep my "ears open" for a possible callback.
Thanks guys!
Bump - anyone have any suggestions?
I have the same problem. I switched from my personal SIM to my work SIM (another provider) and now it looses the service contact after a few minutes.
I realized this happens when I have the data connection on and the GPS on at the same time. This happened to me the first few days with the original ROM too when I first got the phone. So when I use google maps or evernote with gps, the phone service shuts down. Weird.
Mine is the Ozone by VZW (CDMA) but after it was flashed to the 3VO ROM on WM6.5, I got errors on the GSM side when using the T-Mo prepaid Sim, data connection was turning itself off so I couldn't even access T-zone (which was working just fine earlier, already unlocked & running 6.5)
Took me a while to check, goggle & search - realized that some of the GRPRS & Proxy settings were locked by default to the VZW embedded Sim, and had to go into Connections & under Advanced (Menu - Right Soft Key)
to change it. Sort of tricky since the wap, mms & other settings were all set properly but it was easy once I changed it to T-Mo's proxy & WAP names as created. Same for using AT&T's MEdiaNet, as otherwise, as soon as the GSM network was found, data connection was turned off.
Take a look at yours and check the various Menus & Settings screen to see if it might've been reset to default, etc. etc.
Anyone Figure This Out?
Just happened to me this weekend (T-Mo Dash 3G). Simply stopped connecting to the network for voice or data. Worked fine on Saturday but dead Tuesday morning. Also running 3VOlution ROM. I called T-Mobile and we played with network settings, etc. but no luck. Tried a hard reset and that was no help.
Reset and rebooted countless times after changing any setting I could think of. Hopefully someone has figured this out or it looks like I'll be buying a new phone tonight.
Bad SIM ...

Was a bad SIM. I swapped mine for my wife's and the no signal followed my SIM. Dropped by T-Mobile this morning on the way to work and they gave me a new one free, no questions asked. Phone's back to normal.
I just updated my Atrix 2 to the official OTA ICS 4.0.4 and after it took all day for my system to catch up with the new OS, My data is not working. No internet connective, UNless I'm on wifi. I have never had a problem before until I updated. I use Easy Batter Saver (app) and I reset the mobile network. That didn't work. I tried enabling data through the settings. That DID NOT WORK. I went to the settings --> about phone --> status and the only irregularities I noticed were
Mobile Network State- Disconnected
Sim ID- Not Available
- idk how to take the screenshot.
Any Ideas?
--- Found the answer!
It took a while to figure it out but this was the answer if anyone else is having the problem, It seems that the APN were deleted and the one that remained on mine after the update did not work for data connectivity. This is it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576199
I used the ATT phone and it worked fine and if you cannot receive MMS make sure to use both of them.
ALSO heres another link for more APNs

ICS data Lost
i lost the data connecion suddendly one day ago, this was working good. i restarted in recovery mode and did a wipe data/cache then add the apn's and now is workng again.
same here,i can not connect to 3G mobile data unless i change to airplane mode (after enabling mobile data and change to 3G network) and then to air plane mode to off.
or to restarting mobile after enabling mobile data and change to 3G network.
i tried 4 ICS radio images, but the same issue !!
i tried stock GB rom, same issue, but i tried another provider SIM with no issues, so , this was related to my provider network.
I have a Straight Talk LG L40G that is not rooted, everything was working fine until about a week ago. My wifi is working to access the internet, but my 3G is not. I can make and receive phone calls but I cannot connect internet via 3g. I have been in contact with straight talk but to no avail, we tried everything. I have data enabled, cleared cache, history, cookies. Tuned on airplane mode and then turned off, Have shut off and on again, Have removed battery. Even did a factory reset, but to no avail. The 3g internet is not working. I also restored internet to default. I am at my wits end. Please point me in the right direction. I am hoping someone can help me, please. Straight talk says they have been doing some updates to my phone, but so far that is not working either. Please does anyone know why my 3g is not working anymore?
First thing I'd wish for you to check is the Access Point Names AKA APNs. Typically this happens when the APN isn't set Right. Usually you can Access APNs via Settings > Network > Access Point Names. Please check what yours is set to. Ask Straight Talk to confirm.
already checked APN with straight talk
That was just about one of the first things that was checked by Straight Talk. I wish I knew what the problem was. Like I said everything was working until about a week ago.
It has been reported elsewhere there are a number of problems with Android 4.4.3 KitKat, on your Device. These include random problems that range from LTE/3G signal issues to dropped calls, app crashes, and major battery life drain.
I have android 4.0.3. It was working good until about a week ago. I haven't done anything different so I am assuming it has to be on Straight Talks end. They don't seem to know how to fix it though, so I may be stuck using the phone like this for awhile.
Can you have them check to see if your Data Limit is over or such like ? Also if possible, try the Sim in another phone so we can determine if it is Straight Talk ?
As stated I'm using the LG G5 H830 T-Mobile variant. I am getting 4G LTE data connection and everything runs well (Not in any WiFi range) Yet for SMS and calling as well as mobile hotspot I get "No USIM card' error. This happened after wiping the system and formatting data. Rebooted recovery (as per instructions on forum) then installed the stock firmware & Patch with systemless root and xposed. After this I did factor reset when just pulling the sim didn't help. Still nothing. I reflashed just the stock firmware with TWRP and SuperSU and issue is still happening. I've disabled rebooted and enabled the phone radio. SIM is in good condition and tray as well everything is SECURE and should be good to go.
I'm assuming a new SIM might be a solution. But I'm not counting on it and with Labor Day tomorrow for me I wouldn't be able to pick one up for 2 days. So here I am...hoping someone might have a fix. I know I don't have many posts on here. But I am an experienced user....just not with the more basic of problems I guess
Thanks!!
Has anyone else experienced this yet? I'm just curious...I had it fixed for a couple days. I've formatted data and done complete system wipe. Tried it resetting phone with the COMPLETE zip and TOT using LGUP. I'm receiving texts. Not calls. Not able to send either. I've activated new sim, didn't help. LG support just told me to look into warranty. T-Mobile needless to say just wanted. Sim card does show stock tmobile short code contacts but phone number shows as unknown. Hotspot won't work. I've tried setting the phone number to the sim. Nothing.
Anyways. I don't think I messed with anything, even so I've done everything to start the phone from scratch. Going to replace it, just more or less curious at this point and maybe others have had the same issue.
I believe I had the same issue as you and it was driving me crazy. I was constantly wiping data, system, etc but my phone kept giving the message "roaming indicator off" where it should show the name of the carrier. This resulted in me having LTE data and that's it- no 3g, no phone calls, etc. I couldn't even access the mobile network menu.
What ended up causing the issue was the network mode setting under wireless networks. Keep in mind at this point I'm running a patched rom which now gives more options in the network mode menu than the phone came factory with. I have an area at work where I have to switch to 3g, GSM/wcdma preferred network setting, because although I have full LTE signal, my connection goes dead. When switching back from 3g I chose the setting lte/CDMA thinking this would force my phone to stay in lte mode due to another area on an upper floor where the phone will constantly drop lte.
Anyways this resulted in my phone saying roaming indicator unavailable, the inability to make or receive phone calls, and either the mobile networks or network mode menus being grayed out. When stuck in this mode there is no way to put the phone back into the standard "GSM/wcdma/lte" mode. Even a complete reflash won't fix it. I even used lgup, which worked for maybe a day until it force closed the phone app and went back to roaming indicator unavail. I wiped every partition and even reflashed radio firmware. Nothing worked.
What ended up fixing it was using an app called v10 hidden settings which allowed me to access the network mode menu directly and re-choose the lte/wcdma/GSM setting. Incidentally on first access to this menu through the app there are only two network settings available. Once you choose a GSM setting, the rest appear.
I'm not sure if this was your issue but I hoped this helped because this took me about a week to workout.
So I 'sideloaded' LineageOs on my stock OPO the other day with the current TWRP, and have not had mobile data since. I have searched around a bit and found on the OPX that they have a fastboot flashable bootloader that fixes the issue there. Do we have anything like that here that doesn't involve going back to stock? Or does anyone know a fix for this issue?
used adb sideload to install TWRP.
Then used sideload to install lineage and nano gapps in TWRP.
Went a day without realizing I had no data.
Started toggling airplane mode. Redid apn that was already there. Reboots etc.
Searched around on xda.
Downloaded and flashed most recent c7 modem.
Searched around on xda.
Making this post.
Thanks for any help.
Looks like I got it fixed. Through my searching I saw where peeps are able to stick in another sim and get data to work. So I decided to call ATT gophone.
Turned off wifi.
Turned off cellular data.
Went to APN and changed the apn (ATT Go Phone) from pta to nxtgenphone.
Turned on cellular data.
Finally had H+ above he signal bar, but had an X inside the bar.
Don't know if he did anything on his end, but the X went away after a couple of minutes.
Data was working, albeit kinda slow.
Turned off phone for three minutes per ATT rep.
Rebooted.
Data still slow, but it is at least working. Thinking I need to flash different modem. Battery usage has been higher the last day or two since I flashed c7 anyways.
Thank you
This worked for my Honor5x l22 version with an Att gophone sim card. Im forever in debt.
Thanks! This msolved the problem for me.
I installed (and reinstalled) LineageOS on my Note 3 and nothing could fix mobile data. This post saved the day.
I had to do one more change:
APN type -> default,mms,supl,hipri

Another related problem and solution.
Whenever I switched on WiFi mobile data would turn off. Then when WiFi disconnects, Mobile Data never came back. Turning it back required turning on & off Airplane Mode or restart.
What fixed it:
- Go to developer option and select "mobile data always active"
- I also selected "Aggressive Wi-Fi to Cellular handover". Don't know if this option helps with this problem but I have it on (remnant of trial & error).
(I know it's an old thread but recording it here so that someone else benefits as I did.)
